A-TV is only usefull for iTunes countries

I assume the Apple TV product is only useful with iTunes and if you are in a country where the iTunes store is available?
Otherwise it is useless!

Not to be too pedantic, but whether AppleTV "can be used" or "is useful" in countries without an iTunes store are two separate things.
AppleTV "can be" used for as long as you have any content delivered via iTunes.
Whether AppleTV "is useful" when you cannot purchase content (especially video content) from iTunes Store is a matter of subjective opinion. If you can’t buy movies or TV shows from ITS, you would of course have the option to rip your entire DVD collection, then have it stored and sync’ed / streamed to the AppleTV. But,
1. Whether the convenience of having your collection organized on your computer and cycled through the AppleTV justifies
2. The effort needed to rip the DVDs as well as the loss of standard DVD features (e.g. chapter points, switching through various subtitles), loss of surround sound / 5.1 output and potential loss of video quality (if you need to conserve space on your storage medium)
is a matter of personal taste.
I kind of like to think about it by making it analogous to ripping your CDs to iTunes. What’s the benefit of ripping the entire collection when you could have just popped individual CDs into your CD player? Well, things will be better organized, you don’t have to look for 1 CD out of potentially thousands, and you get to sync your music to carry on the road.
But where the analogy breaks down with the AppleTV is i.) probably most people don’t own nearly as many DVDs as CDs and therefore much less need for sorting; ii.) it’s not as if you are taking your DVD content “on the road” with the AppleTV, unless you also own a video iPod; and iii.) not being able to retain surround sound, chapter points etc. and the inferior video quality is a big deal.
I therefore personally think the AppleTV is only worth it if you have a good source of video content that could have resided only on your computer (e.g. iTunes TV shows, things like online video content if AppleTV ends up expanding its functionality, etc.), but if one could only rip existing video media “just for the AppleTV” then the value proposition is not nearly as good. This is just a personal opinion of course!

  • Why are some songs only available for other countries iTunes Stores

I have tried to purchase some songs from the French ITunes Store, but I got an alert saying I had to switch over to the US store to do so. I did, but when I searched for the songs in the US store, I could not find them. Why is this so? Is there any way I can get the songs from the French iTunes Store?
    Thanks for the help

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I do live in the US. I assume that it works the same, that Apple doesn't have permission to sell the French songs in the US. Thank you for the quick response.

  • Bluetooth Headset only works for iTunes not in web browser?

I've recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. I've reconnected both of my Plantronics Headsets and have been able to use them with iTunes. Today I wanted to watch some shows on Hulu, and while the bluetooth "appears" to be connected, when I select Use Plantronics for mono audio, I can't hear anything. I've disconnected, re-connected, rebooted, etc., and I can't seem to get it to work in any browser.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

I use the Nokia BH-804with my Pc (win 7) no problems, only thing is i also use this medialink USB adapter as my laptop does not have bluetooth embedded (yea i know im behind the times) While that may not be much help to you it could be because the 505 is stereo?? Meaning your OS/computer does support bluetooth but no the A2DP profile?

  • Mini-HDMI Port: Video OK, sound only works for iTunes

Let me start by saying, I'm pretty new to Mac so please be gentle with your answers...
I just got a new HD Samsung TV and have connected it to my Macbook Pro through the Mini-HDMI port. There are two HDMI inputs on my TV, DVI and ARC. I'm using DVI. The video displays perfectly but I'm having a little trouble with sound.
Once I went to system preferences and switched the audio output method to "SAMSUNG - HDMI" my iTunes music began playing through the TV speakers. I played a .wmv video from my hard drive; sound and audio all worked well. However, when I attempt to play anything through the Internet, Youtube, Hulu, Pandora, no sound... I still get video, and if I switch the Output source back to "Internal Speakers - Built-In" there's no problem. I don't know if it makes any difference, but I'm using Google Chrome as my Internet Browser.
I've double/triple checked the sites to make sure the local audio levels aren't being muted, and that doesn't seem to be the case. Is there a setting somewhere that references only Internet, or more specifically, Google Chrome audio Output levels?
    PLEASE HELP...
    Thanks

The "Front" channel isn't the same thing as the front panel. From the ALSA wiki:
"Front, Surround, Center, LFE (subwoofer) and Side (these are the names of the channels with Intel HD Audio, they may vary with different hardware)."
How many sounds cards do you have?

    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

What are the other HDMI devices? The video card?
And have you tried googling the problem?

    Why did this break!?
    Thanks!

  • Audigy 2 ZS is only usefull for the

I am really really frustrated with my Audigy 2 ZS sound card. It worked perfectly on windows vista business. I upgrade to Ultimate and its crackling the WHOLE time. Its un-bearable, I cant listern to a thing on it. I have tried every thing, unintalled 0+ times, and installed with old drivers, new drivers, beta drivers and all might as well not have been created. I thought creative was a name that can be trusted, the only thing I can trust is that I will go else where in future. This is my final plea for help before the stupid thing is binned. If I alter settings the crackling stops for a few seconds while the setting is saved, then starts straight back up again.
    Please help!

That fixed the problem.however now I'm without my camera software, and at some point soon I'm going to have to reinstall it. Is this the only workaround? Uninstalling and essentially disabling my webcam? Seems like a crappy solution.

  • HT4914 for itunes match the 24,99 a year , are the only costs ? No other costs can occur ?

Hi with itunes match is the yearly fee the only costs?
there are no additonal costs that can occur ?

The yearly fee is the only cost for iTunes Match itself. You may encounter other charges not directly related to iTunes Match; additional space for documents or photos in iCloud, for instance. And of course there is a charge to purchase music from the iTunes Store, if you're not matching tracks acquired from CDs or other sources.
    Regards.

  • Activity Log for iTunes

    Hi all,
I know there are crash logs for some apps and there's one for iTunes. I am trying to track songs I've deleted and added in iTunes. So, is there a log for iTunes which tracks adds/changes/deletes?

There's no such log for iTunes, unfortunately. The only log for iTunes you'll find on your system is a crash log if the application crashes.

  • I need to change from Japan App Store to Australia App Store. I get this every time I try using My MacID: "This Apple ID is only valid for purchases in the Japanese iTunes Store. You will be switched to that Store." What next TY. JohnCahill

I moved from Japan to Australia. I need to change from Japan App Store to the Australian App Store. I get the following message every time I try using My MacID which was set up in Japan: "This Apple ID is only valid for purchases in the Japanese iTunes Store. You will be switched to that Store." At one point... by which path I do not remember... I was instructed to created a new ID. I fill out the new ID forms, but the address is rejected each time... quite confusing. Does it want a new name? But it says I cannot use an apple domain (tag?) even though I guess it has to be an apple address... ? So I have iTunes crdit cards purchansed in Australia, can't spend in AUstralian iTunes Store, get directed back to Japan each time, and can't open a new ID... What am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance.  John. Australia.

You must have a separate Apple ID registered in the other store along with a valid bank-issued charge card in the other country, and a legal billing address in the other country.
Sorry... But... You cannot use other countries itunes stores.
You must be within the Country with a Valid Billing Address and Credit Card for that Country to use the iTunes Store of that Country..

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • ITunes for other countries

I can't seem to find the music store for iTunes for countries other than the US/Canada. They seem to only have apps, and no front page with all the music ads like the US/Canada stores. Is this because they don't have non-English songs for sale in iTunes or am I navigating wrong?

There are many other countries where there are iTunes Stores carrying music and in some cases videos and movies, including the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and a number of others. But for many countries Apple has not been able to negotiate the rights to sell media content in that country or for business reasons has otherwise decided not to sell media there yet, so iPhone/iPod touch applications are all that's available.
If you don't seen an iTunes Store listed for your country, then applications will be all that you'll be able to buy for now.

  • There were some updates on my Apps.  I updated them on my iTunes but my iPad did not get the same downloads/updates thru iCloud.  Does the iCloud only works for "New" Apps or Books downloaded from the store but not the "Updates"?

There were some updates on my Apps.  I updated them on my iTunes but my iPad did not get the same downloads/updates thru iCloud.  Does the iCloud only works for "New" Apps or Books downloaded from the store but not the "Updates"?

Purchased music does not count against your iCloud storage and you cannot get rid of them in the purchased tab.
    What is backed up
You get unlimited free storage for:
Purchased music, movies, TV shows, apps, and books
Notes: Backup of purchased music is not available in all countries. Backups of purchased movies and TV shows are U.S. only. Previous purchases may not be restored if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
Some previously purchased movies may not be available in iTunes in the Cloud. These movies will indicate that they are not available in iTunes in the Cloud on their product details page in the iTunes Store. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer available in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
iTunes and iCloud and different accounts, you will need to delete both accounts from your device before adding the new details in their place.
For iCloud go to settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit the delete button. You can then sign back in using your correct details. For iTunes go to settings >store, tap your account ID and then sign out, you can then sign back in using your correct Apple ID.
