• How do i use my fingerprin​t for uses other than login? (email, web forums, etc)

  I was wondering, is there a way to use your fingerprint in place of a password for other uses other than logging into windows?  Some uses would be internet email {specifically gmail), logging into web forums (like this one).  Maybe (this is probably hopeful thinking)  configure your fingerprint to includepersonal data when filling out forums such as address, DOB, phone number, etc.  I will be using Firefox almost exclusively, but if theres a solution for IE i'll listen too.

  ThinkVantage Client Security Solution includes Password Manager which is close to what you are after I think.  It works with IE, Firefox and standard application dialogs too.

• Dictation is deleted in web forums AND word

  Hi Using the microphone to dictate on my iPad mini 3 and iPhone 5s with iOS 8.2.  For both a Moodle Web Forum (teaching platform) it deletes everything as soon as I hit done.  The exact same thing happens most of the time in my Microsoft Word app.  Any suggestions?
  I notice that the cursor will back up, select all or most of the dictated text then delete it.  This is on Word and in the web forum  All without me touching it!
  Half baked fix:  If I dictate two new lines, it will back up and sometimes not delete - but can't count on that.

  I have this problem quite a lot, too. I'm trying to use iPads and dictation on a professional level for my architectural and engineering firm.  This is rather difficult when dictation randomly kicks me out and/or deletes everything that I have just dictated.
  I have discovered a poor workaround. It works but it is very inconvenient. At least it allows me to function under the circumstances.  
  It works as follows:
  If you're working in one of these deletion zones, like this form here or eBay or any other place where you know that your text is going to get deleted as soon as you hit "done", don't ever hit "done". Instead, finish your dictation by tapping elsewhere on the screen. Put your cursor someplace else. That will finish the dictation but prevent the deletion. Of course the hard part, is when dictation kicks you out randomly, then it will delete what you just dictated. The trick is to move your cursor before it kicks you out.
  Consider moving the cursor like that sort of like an auto save. In my experience, don't go more than about a paragraph, or you risk having dictation kick you out.
  As I said, this is a very inconvenient workaround, but at least it allows you to function.
  If Apple can solve these two problems, it would vastly improve the Apple experience and productivity.
  Without solving these problems, it pretty much relegates dictation to a useless novelty. Not good for anything serious.
  This problem is consistent with all of the iPad Airs that my company has, also on the couple of iPhone 4 and 4s that I have access to.

• Databases and web forums

  I am just learning about databases. Can some one explain how and why a Web forum uses a database? I mean what exactly is a databases function when it comes to a web forum?

  1) How does one store the information about the user?
  2) How does one store the threads?
  3) How does one search the threads?
  A database could provide some benefits in all these cases, and more.
  However, typical developers who have no background in databases might use files and create their own way of indexing the files. In other words, they might end up simulating that which a database already does well.

• How to post a chart to a web forum

  I am making a spreadsheet and want to post it to a web forum.
  1. I can never get the cells to have lines around them (no grid form).

  most people post pictures to forums.  To take a screen shot use the key combination <CMD> + <SHIFT> + 4
  The cursor will change to a crosshair which you will use the enclose the thing you want to capture in  rectangle.  To do this click, and hold, one of the coners (e.g. bottom left) and drag to the opposite corner (e.g. top right) then release the button.
  This whould make a camera shutter sound an create a file on your desktop name something like "Screen Shot 2012-03-09 at 8.57.00 PM.png"
  you should be able to upload the picture to the forum.  In THIS form you click the little camera in the tool bar, then navigate to the image file for the screen shot.

  Does anybody know where I can get a template to make a web forum?

  It will depend on the language/database that you have available to you on your server.  I know PHP/mySQL forums best so here are a few I have experience with:

  Personally speaking on my sites I use Invision Power Board.  As far as free ones go I would go simple machines over phpBB for ease of use, even though it is a closed source project.

• Add Flash Content, Flash Loaders, Message Boards, Web Forums, Guest Book

  I have spent a lot of time to figure out how to stretch iWeb's capabilities. I have not added all of these items yet to my websites but I plan on incorporating more of these things in. I am not a coder and most of this could be done pretty easily. I have used someone elses code for adding flash but have found software to help make the flash content easily. Feel free to email me with any questions. Most of the software I am using does require purchasing it from various vendors but it is pretty reasonable.
  You can visit any of these sites below (one is brand new). I am also going to use a DNS registration to change the website's URL. If anyone has any advice or tips on this please share your thoughts.

  It might be an add-on that is misbehaving. You can try disabling add-ons individually to see which one is responsible. You can also reset Firefox, while keeping your personalized data, like history, bookmarks, passwords, etc: [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]

• Running version of Crystal Reports bunded in MS Visual Studio on web farm

  I did a search before posting this and could not find where someone had posted the question previously, but I apologize in advance if it is redundant to something already asked and answered.
  I am part of a sysadmin organization, and some of the developers we host on our servers came to us asking to put the free version of the Crystal Reports DLL that comes bundled  with Visual Studio on our IIS web farm servers. 
  We looked at the doco on the MS site regarding this, and in the licensing section we found reference to, as best we can interpret it, not using the free bundled version in a web farm to try to overcome the default 5 user limit.  At least that is our understanding of the text we saw at MS' site. 
  MS refers support questions to Business Objects, thus I am posting this question to find out if it is legitimate or not to use the free Crystal Reports object our developers got from MS on a multiple server IIS web farm. 
  Basically, we want to stay legitimate as far as software on our servers.
  Secondly, as we understand the doco, there is only web forum support for the free tool, so if our developers have a production issue and come to us, our only recourse will be to post a question here?

  I found this bundled Crystal Reports licensing link on MSDN - [Licensing and support for Crystal Reports for Visual Studio|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/317789]. As you'll see, this kbase article says that the bundle editions of Crystal Reports are not licensed for use with web farms.
  If you have other support issues and you can not find answers on these forums you can purchase a support contract or an individual support case. You can purchase a single case from the [Online Store|http://store.businessobjects.com/store/bobjamer/DisplayProductByTypePage&parentCategoryID=&categoryID=11522300]. Or in the US you can call the Sales team at 1-800-877-2340, Option 2. They can assist with support contract questions, and I believe they can assist with single case purchase questions.

• How to make a Website in Muse with a Login Forum

  I need to build a website for a client in Muse which has access to a Login Forum, so that users can login to a secure site and upload messages and images/video. I have never done this before, but I'm quite experienced in other aspects of Web Design and in Adobe Muse. I'm guessing I will have to use Business Catalyst to do this and intend to host the site on BC. I need to know if this can be done using just Web Basics, or if I have to upgrade to Web Basics+, or higher? Does anyone know of any tutorials, or other help on this subject?
  This is not going to be an eCommerce site, I just really need to have the function of a secure web forum with a few other standard pages, HOME, ABOUT etc

  Yes, you are right. You can achieve this if you host your site on Business Catalyst. This feature is not included in webBasics+ plan. You need at least webmarketing plan to use the Forums feature.   Yeah, I've been struggling with this new forum, too. I've been using NNTP for so many years that I can do it in my sleep. Web Forums will *always* be slower than NNTP. It's just a fact of the implementation.
  But, I am slowly coming around. Here are some things that I have learned:
  Start by going to Your stuff > profile > Preferences. Change the View to "Threaded" so you can easily see what the poster was replying to if they didn't quote anything. Make sure your Time Zone is correct (mine wasn't). Subscribe to email for threads you create and respond to. You can also subscribe to email for any thread by clicking on "Receive email notifications" on the right side when reading a post. I still do all of my reading via the Web Forum interface, but receiving email notifications is enough of a time saver for me that it makes up for the slowness of the Web Forum.
  I tried to get my picture to show up by adding a picture to my profile, but I discovered that you have to create an avatar.
  I haven't figured out how to search these forums with google, but the builtin search works much better than anything I have ever used in any NNTP news reader.
  The only implementation problem that I have found to far is that the "Next" button has stopped working a few times. Closing the browser and starting with a new window seems to fix that.

• CR2008 , WebI and Excel 2010

  I have CR2008 SP1 and Excel 2010, when I tried to export CR report to excel, I got the error and the program will be terminated,  if I select "constant column width( in points)", the report can be exported to excel, but if I select the default setting "column width based on the objects in the whole report", it will give me the error
  The instruction at "0xff168b1c" referenced memory at "0xff168b1c". The memory could not be "read", click on OK to terminated the program, then second error will show up
  The exception unknown software exception (0xc0150010) occured in the application at location 0x7c94487f. Click on Ok to terminated the program...
  also I have BO XI 3.1 SP3, when I tried to export my WebI report to excel, it does not use Excel 2010 feature(support over 65536 rows), it will split the report with over 65536 rows into two sheets like with Excel 2003
  does anyone know how to fix these two issues?

  Excel 2010 is not supported in CR 2008. It is in the next version of CR 2011.
  No option to not get sheets for more than 65k rows, limitation of Excel.
  Install CR 2008 SP 3, requires an uninstall first. Be sure to have your CR keycode available.
