A user uploads a new pdf (using Dreamweaver) but still gets the old version back in browser.

She downloads the file from the site, and gets the old version of the file instead of the one she just uploaded. I tried it myself and everything is done correctly: the new file is on the server but download keeps displaying the old version. Dreamweaver ticks off the bytes as they are going upstream. I can RDP to the server and see that the newer version is there (by datetime stamp). She is using IE 8 if relevant.
This only happens with pdf, no caching is turned on in IIS6 - all content updates are instant.
I have gone in to the temp internet files and deleted the cached version of the file and emptied the trash (Win XP) but it still serves the old version.
This issue has been reported by other users, but I thought it was user error until it was staring me in the face.
My final verification was to upload the new document with a new name, delete the old document, and rename the new name to the old name - after that it delivered the new document
How do I tell the (non-tech) user fix this?
I've seen references to this on other sites (now that I know it is real, I dug deeper) but the solutions proposed mostly seem to involve changing the query string by adding somthing to the end of it.
This is out of reach of my user.
I can't be the first person to encounter this right?
And note that I went into the server... the document was uploaded, and IIS caching is off.
I was told by someone here (and I can't reproduce it in my office) that I should tell the user to go to Adobe Reader | Edit | Preferences | Internet.
Then tell her to uncheck all three boxes (display in browser, allow fast, and allow speculative)
But I don't see how that would fix it - remember that I deleted the pdf from the internet cache and that didn't solve it.
Thanks,
   -Chris C. 1972

I've faced this before too.
I've tried many different approaches but the most reliable way I've ever found of handling it is to rename the new PDF each time (e.g. adding the revision date into the filename) and update the link in the web page to point to the renamed PDF.
Works every time.

  • How can I get the old version back, because this new is so poor, it doesn't work. My curcor doesn't appeart and can use secont tab.

If I have one tab open and I try to open other, cursor doen't appeart. And If I open youtube I can't write for the search box.
So I want the old version back, how can I get it.

First you'll need to download the old version from here.
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Once you have chosen your language and operating system type then download it from the list on that page.
Next you will have to uninstall the current version of Firefox by using the add/remove programs option under control panel. After the current Firefox has been removed you can then run the installer for the old version. Using this method will not save your bookmarks or any addon's/extensions so make sure you have a list of the addon's you want to get back and you can also backup your bookmarks from within your current version of Firefox prior to removing it.
Do note that some extensions that you may have installed were installed by 3rd party programs and they will not be reinstalled until the program that installed them has been either updated or reinstalled as well.

Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

  • Can i get the old version back cause the new one sucks

how do i get my old version back this new one sucks bad it keeps saying not responding and locks up i never had this problem till i upgraded

I'm not having any problems so far, so it might be a problem with your computer, or perhaps something went wrong when you installed the update. Or there could be a conflict with your extensions, or you might just have too many extensions. There are several possibilities.
Anyway, rolling back to a previous version is not recommended, and I've read that the only stable version other than 5 is 3.6.18. However, you can find all versions at ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/. If you want to install an older version, another user named jscher2000 said:
"First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. ...
    Close Firefox 5.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program."
He was referring specifically to 3.6, but his advice should work for any version, I think. Including FF4. But again, rolling back isn't recommended.

  • I hate this new version of iTunes.  How can I get the old version back?

Anybody have any ideas how I can get the old iTunes version back?  This new one is almost impossible to use, at least the way I use it.

In the old version, when I logged in to the store, it automatically updated the podcasts to which I was subscribed.  The new format carries no dates and very little identification so that I know what I don't yet have when I go to a new podcast.  The music I searched for was sorely lacking; I know they have more Brubeck than what I found because I have done a similar search in the past and there were many more choices.  It's just a mess trying to find what I want.  I'm afraid to plug in the iPod for fear of this new program screwing up what I have.  I don't want to have to reload all my music and reorganize it.  It's good to know I'm not alone in my dissatisfaction.  And Apple makes it very difficult to give them direct feedback.  Most sites at least have a "Contact Us" option.  I've gotten a ton of email since I posted this afternoon.  Hope that wasn't a mistake.

  • The new version claims to be faster? I beg to differ wslow as syrup and crashes something the previous version never ever did, can I get the old version back ?

Every time since DL'ing the latest version it has been god awful slow. Crashes and requires I restart my computer before I can use the internet. I did send the error reports through your system. MS claims it is not compatible with netframes and other apps. So I am wondering has Mozilla just become another unreliable product like some others that will remain nameless? Or are these problems going to be addressed as I am sure I can go back to Internet Explorer after some major updating.

I've been working on this all day!!! I've tried everything I know of and can't get it to load either. Sounds like lots of people are having problems. Here is what I have so far...I have uninstalled EVERYTHING on my pc from apple and reinstalled itunes to no avail. I have tried all sorts of things I've read as fixes online. NOTHING has worked. Here is something interesting that i have noticed though. my main pc (which is the one i have always managed my itunes account with for years) is a 32 bit system running windows 7. Yesterday I installed itunes for the first time on my new netbook which is a 64 bit (windows 7) system and it works just fine. i have three other laptops (all window 7) in my household that are all 64 bit operating systems and ALL have updated to 10.5 and THEY ALL work fine. this is FOUR 64 bit systems ALL updated w/10.5 that work and ONE that is a 32 bit that will not. Can't get any help from apple. their suppot *****! I want to get someone on the **** phone or a live chat but cant. *** APPLE????? please let mw know if you find SOMETHING i can try next. I'm out of ideas and patience!

  • Ask your question.stalled 10.5 and update on my G4 PB and now Itunes won't open due to library created by nwer version, How do I get the old version back ? thankfully I don't have anything in it, having deleted everything for room for the new install.

I just installed 10.5 and .8 update, from 10.4xx, Original 10.5 Archived and installed,   Now itunes won't, can't open due to "library created by a newer version error message,
How do I fix this ? uninstall ??? reinstall ?
I originally didn't have enough free space to intall the new OS so deleted everything/songs and some podcasts in itunes, backed up on another ipod.that hasn'r been updated so not missing anything, but now can't access\ another new(old) ipod and iphone (and not anytthing now) that wouldn't work on the old OS. due to not having the required itunes upgrade and not upgradeable on 10.4xx
    Thanks in advance.

After reinstalling itunes like PowerBloodRespect said, go into itunes on your account and connect your ipod. On the ipod summary tab, uncheck the box to launch itunes when the ipod is connected.
You also might want to go into itunes preferences on both accounts.
On the Device tab, put a checkmark in the box to prevent ipods from syncing automatically.

  • Verity Credit Union site will not open with the new Firefox. How can I get the old Firefox back?

I want old Firefox back. My credit union, Verity, will not open with the new version of Firefox I have downloaded.

@glennhaste, the public pages I visited seem identical in IE8 and Fx10, but you may be referring to a part of the site that requires logging in (impossible for non-customers to view).
Since the problem is so recent, can you recall any changes you made in Firefox, or are you aware of any changes your CU made on its site?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
    Firefox > Preferences > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
    2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, "right-click" and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies" (''Sorry, I don't know how you right-click on a Mac'')
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • I really don't like the new version of Firefox. Can I get the old version back while still getting the security upgrades?

I dislike the appearance of Firefox 4.0 for Macs. Nothing about it is intuitive. Can download the old version and still get security upgrades?

You can get Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Firefox 3.6 is still supported but I don't know how long for.

  • When I am using Facebook, all of a sudden with Firefox 4, everything is SO slow. This has happened before. I want the old version back.

Ever since I switched to Firefox 4, everything is slowing down! I hate this version. I want the old version back. I went to Facebook, it took so long to be able to do anything that I just gave up. This NEVER happened with the old version. I just want to get the old version back. I DO NOT LIKE this new version. Same kinds of problems I had once before when I tried it.

I would like to move 2 users to creative cloud, but maintain all the other users (myself included) on CS5. Can I still get the reduced monthly rate? What serial number should I use?

    Hi Thomasjewell,
Yes you can avail the discounted prices even you are upgrading the product just for two users. You can use the serial number for your Creative Suite 5 product.
You can follow the link: https://creative.adobe.com/plans in order to purchase Creative Cloud for Teams product.
Let me know if it works or not.

  • How can I get the old Firefox back, this new one stinks

how can I get the old Firefox back, this new one stinks

Firefox is highly customizable and you may be able to customize it to meet your needs.
If you do not like the new UI, you can make Firefox 4 look and behave more like Firefox 3.6, for details see http://www.computertechtips.net/64/make-firefox-4-look-like-ff-3-6
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • After upgrading from Mac 10.6 to 10.9, firefox creates new windows by an "expanding" animation instead of just appearing. How do I get the old behavior back?

On Mac 10.6.8, when I create a new window by hitting command-N or going to the file menu, or if another page creates a new window, the new window just appears instantaneously. However, after upgrading to Mac 10.9.2, new windows appear by an "expanding" animation, which takes slightly longer than the old "appearing" behavior. (Other apps on my Mac do not exhibit the "expanding" behavior, only firefox.)
Was this behavior intentional? How can I get the old behavior back?
    I am using Firefox 28.0.

    Hi __trout__,
Go to the mac system preferences and click on Doc. There is a Minimize window using.... select the animation there.
    Hope this helps.

  • I accidentally deleted Garageband on my MacBook Pro, version 10.6.8.  The new version of Garageband is only compatible with 10.9 and above.  Is it possible to still get the older version?  OR, can I get another copy of the startup CD  for my computer

The new version of GarageBand is only compatible with 10.9 and above.
If your Mac can run MacOS X 10.6.8, it probably can be upgraded to Yosemite, if you don't have to stick to Snowleopard for other reasons.
Is it possible to still get the older version?
Amazon or eBay are still selling iLife '11 installer disks, and you could reinstall GarageBand from these DVDs. But it will be expensive.
Have you checked your backups, if you can restore GarageBand from a backup?
OR, can I get another copy of the startup CD that came with my computer so that I can reinstall GarageBand?
Sometimes the AppleStore Support will replace missing installer CDs for a fee.
