A variation on the 10.4.9 problem theme

Like so many others, I let software update download the newest update, and like so many others, I am stuck at a grey screen. My problem has the variation of having had a CD in the drive at the time the computer decided to restart. So I’m left with a computer that will not boot, I cannot eject the disc, target disk mode does not work, I can't even get the startup disc selection screen by holding down option as I boot up.
For all intents and purposes, I have a computer that doesn’t recognise the keyboard as it is booting, and does not successfully boot. I’m planning on taking it to an apple store tomorrow, I just thought I’d see if anyone here has any suggestions first. Luckily I have a G3 powerbook that still works…

I had THE problem on my MacBook 2.0 Duo... gray screen, won't boot... I thankfully mirror-backup my hard drive with SuperDuper every week. So I erased my internal hard drive and then copied my backuped drive onto it. Back to 10.4.8 and problem solved...
I've never had anything like this happen in 20 years of being a Mac user. What truly concerns me the most is the fact the Apple moderators are deleting threads about these 10.4.9 Updater problems off of these boards! I've never been so shocked in my life as to see that...
I've been a Mac user for 20 years, and I really, truly thought Apple cared. I guess they are so busy with the iPhone, they just don't care...
Really, I am speechless and shocked over this... Very upsetting...

Another variation of the 80 mb upgrade problems

I applied by telephone to upgrade to 80/20 after experiencing the “unable to proceed due to the Line Saver renewal reply” online at 1130 on Thursday 12 April.
This morning, 13 April, after several attempts the BT Tester gave me an IP of 38.71/20.00 with a download speed achieved of 14 Mbps and upload of 5.3 Mbps.
Prior to upgrading my IP was 38.71/10.00 with downloads of 36 to 37 Mbps and Uploads of 6.78 Mbps quite consistently on several speed testing web sites including BT’s.
So the upgrade has not changed my download IP, BUT has increased the upload IP, and the resulting actual downloads/uploads have decreased. These figures have been confirmed on the BBmax & SpeedTester sites as well.
All tests have been made using a wired connection to my HH3 hub and Openreach modem and I believe I am only 800 metres from the cabinet. (BT engineers figure on installation, October 2011)
HH3 & modem Have been rebooted twice to no avail, and a further BT test still show the same IP at 1255.
Any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated.

same here, I done a BT speedtest this morning and my download ip profile is 36.something Mbps when it was 37.83 Mbps about a week ago, upload ip profile has increased from 10Mbps to 20Mbps however. I thought maybe this was the highest I could get as the BT wholesale checker gave me an estimate of 38Mbps for the upgrade but seeing as other people are having the same issue I'm now wondering if my download ip profile is stuck or maybe just hasn't updated yet.

I HAVE THE POP AND CRACKLING PROBLEM FIX FOR ME ANYWAY..

oh yeah cooling my cpu with a torando 7!!!!thats a cooler for a 2600+ ha ha i win........
any way the "FIX" i found is too turn the master volume down via the keyboard or the audio setting in control panel.....put it at 50 or 60 % and boom....no pops no cracks...and i can turn the volume up on my speakers as loud as i like....now granted no super loud gaming but if i turn my speakers all the way up its too loud to sit there anyway so no loss...and i did crank them up and leave the room and no cracks or pops at all with CALL OF DUTY OR MOHPA OR ROME....so i hope this helps someone else....
SEEMS to me many with my MOBO asus a7v8x variations are having the pop and crackle problem....

I reloaded iTunes 10 (64 bit) successfully, but the problem remains the same.

I looked in the folder from which I want to synch photos, but there is no such thing as an "ipod photo cache" in that folder, or sub-folders, as suggested in the link which you were nice enough to provide.
I have also tried removing photos from my iPad2 Photos App, and "iTunes has stopped working" shows up again as soon as I click on the "Synch photos from" button.

This isn't an issue. Notice the screen prior to the one that shows usage has an iCloud section and a Manage Storage button. For this button to activate ios needs to download a few kb from icloud. Switching back to this screen forces ios to download those few kb.

What do you mean by 'refusing from the system', if you are getting an error message then what does it say ?
For a credit card to have a chance of being accepted it needs to be registered to the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and have been issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account are. If it is and if you are getting a 'declined' message then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes Support (these are user-to-user forums) and see if they know why it's being declined : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
If when trying to download you are getting a message about a 'problem with a previous purchase' then that implies that iTunes wasn't able to collect the money for your last purchase. Java 6 you can't as Apple maintains it, and Java 7 you could if you uninstall it and Oracle provides the earlier version which they likely won't his last update fixed 37 remote exploits.
Java broken some software here and there, all you'll have to do is wait for a update from the other parties.

Opening files with Illustrator and photoshop doesn't work, i have to drag the files from finder in to the program. This problem appears after opening 4 a 5 files.

Chances are the 2g itouch will not be included in the update. Also no one yet knows if it will be fixed in the next firmware but apple has said they know of this bug.

The statement above is in the pop up error box every time, when I launch Firefox. If I click ok in the box Firefox then opens. How do I fix this initializing/launch problem?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). 
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. 
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions. 
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
