A very strange stripy iCloud icon next to "Music" in iTunes?
I've looked at the other discussion that showed the various icons and none of what was there is what I'm seeing. It's the iCloud icon, however it's animated with grey stripes. It seems to have been like that for a few days. I went in and signed out of the store an re-signed back in and then reupdated all the music that's stored there.
Anyone seen this before?
Yup, I've got it too, but only on one machine - the one whose music library is almost exclusively in the cloud. When I quit and relaod iTunes, the problem goes away for a while, but it always comes back.
When the striped animation is running, I can't play any of the cloud files - but I can play the same songs out of my media server, in the living room, which is connected to the same iTunes account (and has all the song files loaded in its library).

Have songs on my hard drive already, but still has iCloud icon next to it in iTunes...
So I'm confused as to how iTunes Match should work apparently. I have it turned on and it works fine, but all of the songs in my iTunes library (connected to airport extreme) says they are in the iCloud instead of local. So then if I press the download button for that song, it downloads it and duplicates the song on the hard drive! How weird! Why wouldn't it just point to the file on my hard drive since it's already there?
Or once we turn on Match, should we go and delete our entire local library? I'm just confused.
I also thought I could play them and it would show as downloaded by pointing to the hard drive version, but no dice. Apparently it only streams from a Mac.
The whole reason this is an issue (besides *** backwards functionality) is I am trying to export a playlist and it only shows downloaded songs in the text file, not songs in iCloud, even though all the songs are on my hard drive!
Anyway, and ideas would be great.

Read this: FAQ: Why iTunes Match Can Not Be Used as a Backup. If you care about your data you'll still keep local backups of all your personal data. Cloud storage is nice and all that but Apple doesn't market iTunes Match as a backup solution and because the matching is not 100% accurate nor does the service store Apple Lossless files, it is not a viable backup solution. For cloud backups you want a company like Backblaze or Mozy or one of the others available who are backup solutions.

Yeah, the home sharing thing may work. I wanted for both machines to be able to see purchases from either machine, or iPhones. That's why I wanted them to share a library. So if I bought a song on my laptop, I could run upstairs and see if on the iMac as well. Maybe library sharing is the best way to do that however.
Keep in mind that any purchases made on the MBPr will be downloaded, and with automatic downloads turned on purchases from other devices will also be downloaded. Right off the top of my head I don't know if this will result in duplicate downloads, but as long as the MBPr is on the local network and iTunes has the library pointing at the Drobo it will all go into the same spot. BUT... if you make a purchase on the MBPr while away from the local network that purchase will be downloaded to the local internal HDD.
So a variation on the theme I talked about above is to, perhaps, not make any purchases on the MBPr and turn off auto-downloads for purchases and keep iTunes Match and Home Sharing enabled. This will enable you to access the music library while home and away and not keep any media on the internal HDD. -
Downloaded movies and TV shows onto iPad to watch while traveling. Everything now has iCloud icon next to it. Can't play anything???
The download symbol indicates they aren't downloaded to you iPad. If you don't want to see the ones with the download symbol go to Settings>iTunes & App Store and turn Videos off under Show All.

ITunes Match, icon next to Music has a lightning bolt on it?
The icon next to Music in the top left (not the icon next to individual icones) has gone from a solid cloud, to a cloud with what seems to be a lightning bolt. If i click it, the icon becomes animated for several minutes, with wavy lines. Not sure what this indicates? both the lightning bolt or the wavy lines.

Match had been working perfectly. I decided to delete all my low bitrate matached songs and redownload them. The process was going perfectly and then I had to restart my Macbook. About 500 songs downloaded correctly and are now upgraded 256kbps AACs but every other matched song is greyed out and I cannot download it.
I have tried everything: turning off/on match, option clicking the match on/off button, creating a new itunes library, etc. No luck. I can see all my music and itunes match says all 7500 of my songs "are avilable in the cloud" but almost all of them appear in grey text and I cannot downloaded them.
Also, the cloud icon next to "music" on the sidebar shows animated diagonal lines.
Is iTunes match down? Anyone else having this issue?
Interesting, I can download/stream all 7500+ songs on my iPhone. The problem seems to be confined to itunes on my mac. -
My Iphone 4 has only 16 GB storage (used 13,5 GB) but my ipad has 64 GB - I have bought ekstra 15 GB storage on icloud but I can'nt seem to use it for all my downloaded/bought music .

ICloud icon next to an app I didn't purchase?
This morning I searched for an app that was just released last week (the Beemo app) and the iCloud icon was next to it. I hadn't downloaded it before and literally just heard about it today. No devices connected to my account had downloaded it, and it is nowhere in my purchase history.
This isn't really a problem, but I'm curious if anyone else had the iCloud icon appear next to an app they have never downloaded before? What could cause this?No idea, unless someone else purchased it that was sharing your ID. I have match, I have a cloud on my heading music in iTunes, I have no music on iPhone other than my past purchases and apps. Am I waiting for something to happen in iTunes with this cloud? I don't have clouds next to songs, I can't download anything even though match is on all devices. Please help.
The small cloud icon to the right of your songs means the song is not stored on you devices drive, not that it was uploaded to iCloud. You can listen to that song, but it's being streamed. If you tap on the small cloud icon it should download the song onto your devices hard drive. Once you do that the icon should not reappear again.

Lock icon next to iPod in iTunes
ok, i have a 30GB Video iPod. every time i try to load anything on it on iTunes, down at the bottom, where it tells you how much space is used, there's a lock icon next to where it says how much room is on my iPod. it won't let me load any kinds of media, except photos. can someone please tell me what this is and what i can do to fix it?

Icloud icon and conetnt (music, tv shows etc) disappeared from itunes
hello - the icloud icon in itunes disappeared - why? How do I get it back? I cannot access my tv shows & music that were in the icloud.
I am using a PC windows 7.
thxTry opening iTunes and going to Edit>Preferences>Store and making sure "Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases" is checked.

I am using Good For Enterprise on my Iphone 4s to connect with my Office PC Outlook email system. I am having trouble synching my Itunes music from my Mac at home with my IPhone 4s. I am considering using ICloud to share the music as I also have an IPad2. When I go to turn on the ICloud application, I get a message that alerts me to the fact I will no longer be able to synch with my computer. Does that mean with my Office PC and my Outlook email, or my Mac and my home email and other applications? I want to use the ICloud but don't want to screw up my Good for Enterprise application and connectivity with my Office PC and Outlook email. What should I do to be able to update all my tunes and photos on my IPhone 4S and IPad2 from my Mac?
I seem to never tire of saying this. It was for Apple when they first announced 10.7 to disclose this. Yes, it was widely reported -- or rather, rumored -- but not by Apple. And many people who have gotten caught by this assumed that Apple itself would have told them beforehand about the loss of this very important feature which they had come to rely on. As far as I know, not even in fine print, does this appear anywhere on the Lion announcement or any of its links.
I am not saying Apple had to continue Rosetta in Lion, or forever, just that if it was going to be dropped, it should have been made known.
As relative "insiders" we should not forget that many people don't have the time, habit or interest to do this kind of research. I think it is a breach of trust that Apple has never directly made this announcement or given people the opportunity to decide beforehand if giving up their PPC apps for a new OS is a worthwhile tradeoff. -
Now the song is not in my phones memory anymore and when I want to listen to it I have to download it again. It picks and chooses songs randomly and for some reason it is usually the most current ones I download. How do I stop my phone from automatically sending things to the cloud without my permission?

ICloud icon next to ALL my songs on my iPhone after restoring from backup on iTunes
i recently just had my iPhone back after having it repaired. I made a backup on my Mac before sending it away. Now after waiting for it to restore itself and even watch it download all 1800 songs, none of them will play unless i download them from iCloud. I dont understand why as it's never done this with my music before. I dont have iTunes Match and i dont recall ever storing any of my music to the cloud - just my mac. I am not really prepared to go through my entire list of songs and download them separately, so any suggestions as to why it's suddenly decided to do this and how to sort it? everything else from the back up is working fine and is the same as before. thanks!

If your music is not showing up locally on your iPhone, even if you do not have iTunes Match, you may want to try turning of the iTunes in the Cloud settings as described on the following page, then resyncing if necessary:
Just show music that’s been downloaded from iCloud. Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.
Remove iPhone from your list of “iTunes in the Cloud” devices. In iTunes on your computer, choose Store > View Account. Sign in, then click Manage Devices in the “iTunes in the Cloud” section.

VERY strange error message and behavior from ipod and itunes software
Hi. I have two major issues with itunes 7.02 and ipod.
1) After a successful install, and after double-clicking my desktop itunes icon, the program opens, but it takes about 5 minutes to load (I kid you not, maybe longer)... I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling 5 seperate times and it never opens any quicker. Please help, extremely frustrating.
2)THE BIGGER PROB: I get the following error message when connecting my ipod (video) to my computer (itunes is already opened at this point, as it does NOT open automatically): " The software required for communicating with the ipod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes to install the ipod's software. Problem is, I have reinstalled itunes 5 or 6 times already! HELP! Thank you!in sorry i cant help with the speed thing,
make sure you install all the software from the CD your ipod came with, if that dosent work, try updating your ipods firmware : http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/

I, am now getting annoyed with i-cloud.
I, have spent considerable time trying to connect my i-pod touch wirelessly with no success untill I saw on the i-tunes store tab that my i-tunes match was not turned on. I clicked to turn it on and I was asked to add this computer which I have already done. I talked to the Apple support group and they talked me through the set up through add this computer again! But sure enough it worked I had the cloud icon next to music in the left hand side bar and in the store tab i-tune match was turned on and everything seemed to be working.
I, looked again less than half an hour later and i-tunes match was turned off again. I began to turn it on again and now I get asked to pay the i-cloud subscription. How is this resolved?I can see that this issue has been quite extensive, and frustrating, and I am so sorry for all that has happened societygirl! I would like to help you work this issue out. Photoshop CS6 13.0.4 Update - Icons look very strange/hazy

I have installed the latest Update for Photoshop CS6 (13.0.4)...
And now the Toolbar-Icons look very strange and hazy... :-/
you can not see almost what are the symbols represent...
for example the Spot Healingbrush etc...
Is this a Bug, or the Icons are "re-designed" (but worse than before)...?Right at the end of the Hidden Gems workshop, one of the audience asked Brian Hughs if there any plans to accommodate high dpi displays for Windows systems, as with Retina Displays. He said yes, but in a kind of offhand way that did not sound like anything was even remotely near to release. Plus you are going to need a CC subscription when it is released. As hardware gets ever better, that is a factor that is going to seriously compromise all those single app users who have sworn they will never go with CC.

One thing that I immediately thought about was that with a CC subscription being cross platform, it would truly viable to own a Retina Mac Book Pro along with a Windows desktop system. My Dell XPS M1710 is seven years old now! I love the big 19 inch screen, and over the years it has had a much bigger HDD and maximum possible 4Gb RAM, but it a bit of a tired old Hector now.
Does anyone here use both Windows and Apple systems, and is it a realistic proposition?
