A video podcast is imported in library but doesn't arise in ipod, why?

I had subscribed a video podcast from nba.com.
Normally the daily video podcasts were several minutes long, while one of them was more than 20 minutes long.
This long podcast arised in library of iTunes but not in iPod. Other video podcasts from the nba.com are all shown there. And I can watch that video in my os and iTunes, so it's available. Why it can't be shown in my ipod?

Unfortunately, people simply make mistakes. And, one of the easiest mistakes a person can make is to rely on a "fixed" set of settings when converting video content to iPod/podcasting. (I.e., podcast authors sometimes fail to test every podcast they make to ensure it is "iPod compatible" before posting it to the internet.) The problem is, video content is never constant when it comes to the demands on video data rate. The longer a movie is, the greater th chance that there may be a drastic change in demand for video data rate. Different converters employ different strategies when converting. Some react slowly and try to follow the time vs demand contour for the best quality. Others react quickly and scale the contour, losing some quality but keeping the movie iPod compatible by "clipping" potential "spikes" in video data rates which might exceed the ability of the iPod to play them. iTunes scans for such "spikes" before syncing to the iPod and, unfortunately, may decide to simply not load a questionable file.

I'm transferring my iTunes library from a PC to my new iMac via home sharing.  I've followed all of the steps to "import" my library but the "import" button is greyed out.  Any suggestions?

There is no need to import anything or use Home Sharing.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer, everything will be exactly as it was.

I have purchased podcasts on itunes and they show up in the podcast library,
but when I sync my ipod touch they will not go on to the ipod itself?
    any help?

Are you positive these podcasts are configured to sync to your iPod Touch? Have you double checked the configuration for podcasts from under the iPod's Podcasts configuration tab in iTunes?
To access this tab, plug your iPod in and click on its name from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the iPod's Summary tab.  Locate the Podcasts tab along the top and select it. Here you can choose how and what podcasts sync to your iPod.

  • Need to import iTunes library, but can't "consolidate" first

I recently downloaded iTunes 7. Shortly thereafter, the program would unexpectedly quit within a minute of starting up iTunes. After so many times, my hard drive lost its ability to start up. With the help of Tech Support, I used Disc Utility from the Tiger Install DVD to determine that the drive was problematic and that I should copy files off of it before losing them forever. I now have a new hard drive installed and am able to read off of the old one through an external hard drive enclosure via USB. I have looked at how to move an iTunes library, but everything I read says that I need to start up from the old drive, open iTunes and "Consolidate Library..." (under Advanced). I CAN'T DO THIS!!!! The best I have been able to come up with is to open the new iTunes on the new hard drive and import from the old one. This gets me all the songs, but no playlists. THEN I import the .xml file and this gets me my playlists and fills up what it can. I can't figure out how to import all my ratings and without those ratings, some of my Smart Lists have no songs in them. So my first problem is: How do I get the ratings back? I also have a second problem: I had to "authorize" the music I purchased from the iTunes Music Store. Will I have to "authorize" for each iPod I update on this machine??? I'm hoping someone can tell me the correct way for me to move my music to my new hard drive that includes all my ratings and stuff and gives me no loss of "authorizations". HELP!!!!
P.S. - Startup Disk does not give me the option to boot in OSX from the old hard drive. Strangely though, I do get the option of booting in OS9! Perhaps this means I just need to repair OSX on the drive somehow??? If it's easier, help me get my old hard drive to boot again in OSX, that would then allow me to "consolidate" my library and do it correctly.

Quit iTunes. Go to your user account/Library/Preferences folder and locate a file named "com.apple.iTunes.plist". Drag it to the trash.
Restart iTunes and the iTunes Setup Assistant will run again and you can select your choice for internet playback on the second screen.
You will have to goto iTunes > Preferences and reselect your preferences in each tab. The default general preference is to not show iTunes U, Books, Apps and Ringtones libraries, so if you want to see them, be sure to check them off.

  • Video Podcasts No Longer Work on my 2nd (3rd?) Gen. iPod Touch!

Okay, I'm not really sure if I actually have a 2nd or 3rd generation iPod touch.  It's a 8 GB, and I bought it in November of 2009 or so.  I'm guessing it's a 2nd generation since it stopped updating after iOS 4.2.1.  Now with that out of the way, onto the real question....
There was a new iTunes version a few days ago, so I went ahead and updated that.  Ever since, I have had difficulties with any new VIDEO podcasts that I download.  I cannot sync them onto my iPod at all.  Audio podcasts work just fine, but video podcasts do not.  I have literally tried everything - restoring my iPod, deleting and re-downloading the podcasts, and even re-installed iTunes completely.  I figure that it might have something to do with the file type of the videos, but I would've gotten an error message if that had been the case.  I am extremely puzzled.  Please advise.

    No one?

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • I have 333 songs on my library but only 108 on my ipod...on the library there are ! in front of them and they wont copy to my Ipod..how can I fix this

Hello, I have 333 songs on my library list but only 108 on my ipod....on the library the songs that won't download to my Ipod have ! marks in front of them, how do I get rid of them so them may go on my ipod?

The ! usually means that the song file has been moved or deleted. If you can find the song file on your hard drive, you can remove the song from iTunes and put it back by using File>Open and navigating to the song file. There is also a location that iTunes will look for song files (I'm a Mac guy, so I don't know where it should be in Windows, but for me it's HD>Users>My User Name>Music>iTunes>iTunes Music and then there are various folders for different albums, podcasts, etc.), so I would keep them all there.

  • How do I remove music from my itunes library but keep it on my ipod

I am trying to download my cds onto my ipod.  I imported them into the itunes library and synced them onto my ipod but when I deleted them from my itunes library, they were deleted from my ipod.  Is there a way to download the music onto my ipod, remove the music from my itunes but not lose it on my ipod?  I share the computer with my wife and we don't want don't want each other's music on our ipods.

Make sure the iPod is NOT connected to your computer when you delete songs from iTunes.

  • Videos will not work in Firefox but work fine in windows explorer. why?

I tried to verify my plug-in's and all are enabled. I found where was suggested to remove and reinstall Firefox but that did not fix problem either. I tried to change viewer for videos but still no luck. Not certain why Quicktime doesn't work. Note, videos when browsing will not open but everything else works fine. Videos work fine with windows Explorer, but not Firefox.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • Cmd-Opt-V pastes effects but doesn't remove those there-Why not?

    Hi
Been going thru some lessons, what fun, how helpful learning shortcuts and techniques I haven't employed up to now. Anywho...
When I copy a clip (intending to paste them to another clip) and then press Cmd-Opt-V, it pastes effects from the copied clip but doesn't remove those to the targeted clip. Why not?
    best
    elmer

That is the way the application works.
To my mind, that is a better choice than would be deleting the existing effects.
On the other hand, it might be useful to have a "remove effects" command - though I would not use it very often.
You can use the feedback to request/suggest features. I don't think that they will change this, as it is bound to annoy at least as many people as it pleases.

  • On my iPad3, in the Music app, I can find my video playlists in my iTunes library, but they are all empty.  This works fine on my iPhone4.  Does anybody know what the problem is?

BACKGROUND:  When I'm home, using my iPhone4 and MacPro/iTunes library, I've been watching video on my iPhone via the Home Sharing feature of the said devices.  I have lots of videos in my iTunes library, so I've set up lots of video playlists to help organize stuff, and also to more quickly zone in on the video I want to watch from my iPhone and AppleTV.   So here's the process I go through when I want to watch a video on my iPhone:  go into the Music app, then hit the "More..." selection (along the bottom right of screen), then hit the "Shared" selection, then hit the "Bob's iTunes Library" selection, then hit the "Playlists" selection (along the bottom left of screen), then find/select the video playlist of choice, then find/select the video of choice, then start watching.  Aside from the occasional spontaneous disconnect issue I've been having lately, it all works like a charm.
(NOTE:  I tried the same procedure using the Videos app on my iPhone, but there doesn't seem to be a way to see the video playlists in this app.)
TO THE PRESENT:  So when I got my shiny new iPad3 this Monday, the very first thing I did was try to replicate this process on the iPad3. Because both the Videos app and the Music app look very different on the iPad vs their iPhone counterparts, I tried this using the Videos app first, but ran into the same problem as on the iPhone - there's no way (as far as I can tell) to view/access the video playlists in this app – all I see are icons, one for each video.   I then tried the Music app, and steps are identical to the iPhone version.    I got as far as getting to see my playlists, and then selecting the video playlist of interest, but once there, no videos are in the playlist, only a single song(??).   In fact, none of the video playlists have any video files in them (some have song tracks??).

Same problem on my ipad 2...but it works well on my iphone 4s.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thank you

  • Imported old library but lost rating of music

    Hi,
I have succesfully imported my old library to my new computer only the music has lost the rating I gave earlier? How to fix that?
    Thanks Sebastiaan

I have exactly the same problem - importing my music library from a G4 PowerBook to my new MacBook, all my custom playlists and music categories are there, but no ratings. This is especially frustrating with smart playlists like "5* Electronica" - if there are no stars, there's no music in that playlist. Please Help! I have 60 gigs of music I don't want to re-rate!

  • Import iTunes Library, but not files from PC to Mac - files are on extHDD

    Hi everyone.
I have bought a Macbook Pro to replace my old PC. All my music-files are on a NAS-server.
Now I need to move my PC iTunes-library-file (with covers and playlists) to the Macbook, but how?
I have copypasted the library.xml to the mac, but can't figure out how to chane the path in the XML-file.
Is there a piece of software, that does the trick easily?
    Regards
    Jan

    Hi Jan,
I have the similar situation. Got a new Mac and transferring iTunes library to the new Mac. The iTunes is in the external drive. But it sees iTunes (10.1) didn't recognize the XML file while I choose "Add to Library"
What I did was: I change the iTunes library (library.xml) to the external drive. Then I use Import Playlist feature. My library was importing along with the play count and the rating.
Then I import the real playlist file to finalize all import.
I hope it works for you if you haven't fixed it.

  • Importing iPhone video: I can import iPhone 4 but not iPhone3 video

Hey, all. Two Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 questions:
QUESTION 1: I am running Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 with OS 10.8.3, so I am up to date. I can easily import video from my iPhone 4 vie USB cable into Final Cut Pro X. But Final Cut will not find an iPhone 3. Yes? No?
QUESTION 2: After updating to 10.0.8, on import the FCPX import screen at left is not finding my Mac's Desktop as I seem to recall it used to. It just lists: CAMERA; DEVICES; FAVORITES.
Is there a way to add it to Favorites?
    Thanks,
    Douglas

I can't tell you why the 3G isn't recognized by FCP and I have no way to test whether it's normal since I don't have access to that model. But just to suggest that you use Image Capture to bring the clips  into your computer and then import those into FCP. An extra step, but FWIW, that's the workflow I use for the 4S – even though it appears in the import window.
As for your missing Desktop listing, I have experienced that and as I recall I trashed preferences and it reappeared. BTW, I assume shows properly in your Finder sidebar?
