A waring about back up battery please fellow ipod users do not buy!!!!!!!!!

Ok I m not new to Ipods. This is my 3rd Ipod already. A couple of months ago
I picked up a back up battery for the ipod. I think it was an I go Im not sure. It
attaches to your key chain. A 9volt duracell battery sticks in side the removable case and you plug it into your ipod. J&R cells it for about 12 bucks. I bought it because Im always on the go in school or just hanging out. And I didnt want to be stuck somewhere with no tunes. After using it the first time It messed up my battery now I cant use the home charger because the Ipod wont reconize it. The only way I can charge it is by mac thank god I have a mac. The battery does not last at all once its charged. I sent it into apples repair dept the said nothing is wrong with the ipod. So now I have to go to the apple store. The battery is really messed up and not knowing that those portable chargers can damage the ipod battery really got me messed up. Ladies and gents please do not put your self in a bind by buying one of those portable chargers. They are not what they seem. And now I wasted 12 bucks and 280 bucks down the drain over something that could have beeen prevented because I used a portable charger. So Im just looking out.

JV1, if you are early enough to get out of the contract, do it! If you browse through these forums (and other on internet) you will find this is Verizon 4G, it will NOT get better anytime soon. This problem has existed since launch, through the 4510L is the worst device they have, it's not the culprit, I have had all of them.  It is the network.
Oh and by the way, Verizon isn't stupid, someone else pointed out to me the small print on the contract prohibits you from pursuing a class action suit against them.  All disputes have to be settled by arbitration which is binding per contract.  Guess they knew this would happen......

  • Battery removed from ipod touch, will not complete recovery

the battery died a long time ago on my ipod touch 32gb, think it is 1st or 2nd gen, when i plug the ipod in it still lights up and works but asks me to plug it into itunes, when i do that itunes says i need to restore it but when i start the restore process the apple logo reappears on the ipod then it dies and i get an error message from itunes, usually unknown error 1604 or 1603, sometimes 1611. all i want to do is leave my ipod plugged into a dock to play music without the ipod having a battery will this work, surely there must be a way if it's still showing the screen when plugged in

hi thanks for your reply, i tried all of the things on this page already and still no luck, itunes goes into preparing ipod for recovery, the screen on the ipod switches from telling me to connect to itunes, to the apple logo for about 10-20 seconds then the screen on the touch dies and the update either fails or just sticks on preparing bar
    really quite annoying this

  • Help Please - New iPod Classic will not sync with existing iTunes library

Please help, I have researched every forum I can find and all the suggested tips have not worked for me.  Here is my problem.....
I have a new laptop and a new iPod classic.  I have checked and both have the most up to date software.  I have logged into iTunes and all the music and films I had purchased previously is showing.
I thought I simply had to log into iTunes, authorise the laptop, plug in my Ipod and then sync the music and films from iTunes onto my iPod.
When I do the there is a message within seconds to say the iPod sync is completed but the iPod remains empty.  I can't figure out where I have gone wrong.
    All suggestions gratefully received

Problem solved.  It seems that iTunes archived my music to iCloud so once I downloaded all the files again they sync'd rght away

  • Please help--Ipod says DO NOT DISCONNECT and I cant stop it-

I wish there wasd someone I could talk to to walk me thru this.I was updating software, connected ipod and now the update is frozen, and I can't disconnect ipod. Help - I don't know what to do.

    Follow Michael's advice.
The iPod will always show "do not disconnect" when attached to your PC because there is an active connection there. Think of it as being on the phone, if you pull the plug it will mess up the conversation.
On the bottom right by your clock you should have a little green arrow. That shows you what USB devices are hooked into your pc. As long as you do not have the iTunes software open, you can double click that icon and it will show you a small grey window. You will a choice that says "USB Mass Storage Device". Click it once to highlight it and then click the "stop" button on the bottom of the same window. You will get a pop up balloon telling you that it is ok to remove the device (your iPod).
If you have iTunes turned on, you will need to "eject" the iPod by either choosing eject from the file menu or right clicking on your iPod icon in the playlist (left side) of the iTunes software. There is an option in there called "eject iPod" which means that you are done moving files over and that iTunes can release the Ipod and you can use it.
If you don't have iTunes open, just follow the first step. Don't plug things in during the middle of an operation as that will cause lock ups.
Also depending on if you have USB 2.0 or not, the process of moving files and updating can be much slower so try to be patient.
    Hope this helps...

  • I want to charge my battery in the IPod but do not have my computer with me. Can I use the plug in wall outlet charger that I have for my IPad 2?

I wish to charge my IPod but do not have my computer with me. can I charge the IPod with the plug in wall charger that I have for my IPad2?

Yes.  However, the output of the iPad's wall charger may be a little less than what it would be if it were an actual iPod wall charger, so it may charge a little bit slower.  I'm not 100% positive though.

  • Belkin Back-Up Battery Pack

Does anyone know if the Belkin Back-Up Battery Pack for iPod Model# F8E464 is suitable for an iTouch?
    Thanks

It certainly should work, yes. It's an older product, but all it does is provide power to the appropriate pins of the dock connector. My IPT charges (and transmits audio) in the dock that came with my 3rd gen iPod (from back in the FireWare days, and around the time the Belkin battery pack was released), so it should be just fine.
    Hope this helps...

  • Please delete my question about backing up. I already found my answer.

    Hi,
Please delete my question about backing up. I already found my answer. Just wanted to make sure that it was okay to backup the iPod_Control folder. I've read that other people have done this and re-imported back to iTunes. Here's the question I submitted. When I get my iPod back in order I am gonna backup the iPod_Control folder .

No urgent reason to delete it. Just reply to yourself as above, if you care to, and then mark your own answer as correct. You won't get any points, but it will be clear you are closing out the topic.

Being a 2009 model, it is likely the battery is worn out. Take it to a service center and have the battery replaced.

  • Ipad 2 gone completely dead...not responding to reboot or charging..last check with service station last week said battery was in good shape, needed software update...how to go about it...please help

Ipad 2 gone completely dead...not responding to reboot or charging..last check with service station last week said battery was in good shape, needed software update...how to go about it...please help

By reboot do you mean pressing and holding both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (after which the Apple logo should appear) ?
If you can't get the iPad to switch on then you won't be able to update its iOS version

  • "No battery power remains. Please connect iPod to power."

I plugged my iPod into my laptop last night to sync/charge it like I always do, with no problem... today I unplugged it and turned it on, and after about 30 seconds it shut down, saying that my battery was dead. I brought it back and plugged it in... if I plug it in via USB cable, it just says that my battery power is extremely low and to please wait, and every few minutes it will light up and show the black screen with the silver apple, then just go back to "please wait". If I plug it in with a wall charger, it works, but it says it's fully charged, and as soon as I unplug it, it displays "No battery power remains. Please connect iPod to power." It still registers on my computer (as long as I start it with the wall charger, then switch the cables quick...), and I restored it, but it's still saying it's fully charged, and I know it's not. I've also tried resetting it a few times.
    Help???

I just had a similar problem with mine... It's like it gets into a loop where it's trying to boot up before there's enough charge. I've managed to break the cycle and get a charging logo on the screen - although I don't yet know whether this has fixed the problem.
I suggest you let it run completely dry and then plug it directly into your computer. Don't press any buttons and it possibly might make a difference whether Itunes is running (I think it was off for me). Hoepfully, if you leave it for half an hour or so, it will get the battery charge to a reasonable level where you can continue normally.
I kinda stumbled on this as I was playing around, so not sure whether the steps above are what improved the situation.
Hope there's some helpful info in there.

  • Battery PLEASE PLEASE HELP

ok last night i plugged my ipod in and let it charge while i watched a movie. When it had fully charged i disconnected it from the apple power plug thing. Later that night i went to turn it on and it said there was no battery power even though the bar at the top was full. Today i plugged it in again and as soon as i did it says it was charged. Then i plugged it into my computer for 4 hours and it just said very low battery please wait. I then plugged it back into the apple power plug thing and it still syas its fully charged. I have tried to reset it but thta does nothing. It is only about 4 months old. its an 80 gb video. The battery dies as soon as i try to play a song. please help what is wrong?

When you say, "I have tried to reset it but thta does nothing," do you mean that it resets but that doesn't fix the problem, or do you mean that it will not reset?
If the latter, try resetting while it is plugged into the AC charger. Does that work? Will your computer recognize it so you can try a restore?
See The iPod Battery Unplugged for more battery tips.

    No sound form :
    - Speaker?
    - Headphones?
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
