A way to use my old 1G Ipod touch with Icloud?

Can I use an 1G Ipod touch with ICloud if I set up a PC with Itunes 10.6 and then sync the Ipod on that PC? (Currently I do sync the Ipod to a Itunes 10.6 library on the PC but have not set it up it ICloud yet)

We are all fellow users on here and not Apple employees so have freedom in what we say and opinions expressed.
I fully agree that it can be frustrating to have to make replacement decisions when a piece of equipment is working fine.  I have an iMac G5 that has been working great since 2005...but the operating system is way out of date, and now the computer is starting to act up so have decided to go ahead and replace it.  Also have a MacBook Pro that is great, iPad, iPod, iPhone, PC laptop and Sun Sparc workstation, so your compatibility questions and concerns are very familiar.
If your components are playing nice at this point, keep doing what you are doing, in the engineering world we have an expression, If it ain't broke don't fix it.
As to the iPad, that device can be wonderful or just a toy according to how you decide to use it.  It is almost a computer in itself...I say almost because you cannot just download applications other than those in the app store, and some things like word processing are not quite as straight forward as with a computer.  But with AirPrint, if you have a compatible printer, you can seemlessly print directly from the iPad.
I carry mine almost all the time, and often on travel do not bother with the MBP.  The wealth of apps makes it a very powerful tool.  The downside, in addition to not having certain applications I want to use, is the virtual keyboard.  It works well, but for my hand size is slow to type on.
Best advice on that score is go to an Apple store or reseller and spend some quality time up close and personal with an iPad and get to know it before purchase.  And keep in mind it is very powerful but is not intended to actually replace a laptop in every function.

  • Music playback issues using the new white iPod Touch with Ford's Sync System

When I connect my new 32GB white iPod Touch to the USB port of my 2011 Ford Focus' Sync system, I hear a lot of static and popping noises while the music is playing. It's almost like listening to old vinyl records.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?

    Absolutely have had this issue.
Here's a fix (but I hate it we have to do it this way):
You have to make sure your iPod's volume is turned all the way up. The static will clear. I haven't found a way around this. The Ford system ***** for that reason. Shouldn't have to rely on our iPods running at full volume in order to work. Seems to kill the battery quicker. But hey, at least you'll have clear sound.
Lemme know if it worked for you.

  • Using Facetime on two iPod Touches with one Apple ID

My wife and I both have new iPod Touches.
We use a single Apple ID between the two, so all app and song purchases are on one account.
But it appears we need separate Apple ID's to use Facetime? Is it possible for her to create her own Apple ID just for Facetime, but continue to apply purchases to my Apple ID account?

Is it possible for her to create her own Apple ID just for Facetime, but continue to apply purchases to my Apple ID account?
    Yes.
    (1) Some users find that they can create one more free email account and associate it with FaceTime as a separate caller iD associated with the same FaceTime iD.
Then assure that each iPod is configured with a unique Email address showing for the
FaceTime Account in Settings > FaceTime
    (2) If you have already configured them separately but the problem persists, establish a new Apple iD specifically for use on the second iPod:
      http://appleid.apple.com/
    (3) I think you can configure the same iD for the iTunes Store in both iPod's by entering the same
info in the Settings > Store of both your iPods.
However, remember you purchase items via your account, not a specific device.
If you both synch to the same computer, these articles may help you:

  • How can I sync my G2 iPod touch with iCloud Contacts

I have a second generation iPod touch OS 4.2.1.
My iMac runs OS X 10.7.3 and I have an iPad 3rd generation.
My Address Book Contacts and iCal Calendars are in iCloud. I have no On My Mac contacts or calendars.
I can sync my iCloud calendars with the iPod touch by choosing the iCloud calendars identified with my Apple ID in the iTunes calendar sync dialog.
The iTunes sync dialog for the Address Book, however, does not show my iCloud Contacts and only has a choice for syncing all contacts, which I have chosen.
My calendars sync to my iPod touch, but my Address Book does not.

This says that it can't be done.
But I am able to do it for my calendars in iCloud, just not for my contacts in iCloud.
What is the reason for the difference.

  • Ipod touch with ihome p90

I have been using my 3rd generation ipod touch with an ihome p90 and all was working fine until today. The play pause button will no longer control the ipod and it is no longer charging. I did a hard reset on the ipod and reset the ihome by unplugging & removing batteries, but no luck. Any ideas?

Similar experience here, sluch. 3rd generation ipod touch with an ihome p90 and all was working fine. All functions fine except it will no longer charge the ipod. Tried hard reset on the ipod and reset the ihome by unplugging & removing batteries did not work (I lost all the settings on the ihome p90.) I'll be returning the ihome p90 (with reluctance) to Best Buy as I've had it less than one month.

  • How Do I Restore A Replacement iPod Touch With the Backup From A Previous iPod Touch?

I recently received a replacement iPod Touch because of hardware issues with my previous one. I managed to back up my last iPod Touch with iCloud, I also recall using iCloud to restore it from backup after I first updated to iOS 5. All I'm looking to do is to restore everything exactly as it was (app data etc) on my last iPod before I had it replaced. Yet, when I attempt to restore it from back up, it restores with the wrong back up.

See if the lnk given here helps:

I want to use my old 4G ipod to listen to audio books I loaded into my computer from CD's

Another thing to remember is the phone is actually usable for 911 calls and maybe others. Not a real good idea. Especially for a child.
It would depend however on the age of the child.
    Good Luck

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone
    - You can also have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.

Mac Mail gathers the string of e-mails. Is there a way of using the "old" viewing mode? I like to have all mails listed individually and not have the mails grouped together. Is there a way I can use old style settings as they were in Snow Leopard?

You can uncheck View -> Organize by Conversation...  but note that that is on a mailbox-by-mailbox basis, which is a bit of a pain if you have a lot of mailboxes.  You can also go completely back to the SL look by going to Mail -> Preferences -> Viewing and checking "Use classic layout".

how do i sync my ipod touch with my laptop without loosing all of my songs from my ipod already?

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you will need a third-party program like on of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Then connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTune and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
