A WORTHY CHOICE - APPLECARE+ FOR IPAD MINI OR A MILITARY STANDARD IPAD MINI CASE

Hi,
Can anyone tell me which option will be a worthy choice in terms of overall economical gain - an applecare+ for iPad mini or a MIL-STD-810F certified iPad mini case?

iCloud is designed to maintain app specific content (documents in Pages, for example), synchonization of some information (contacts, Notes) and to back up the iOS device. It will not serve you well as an "in the cloud" hard drive. That isn't its intent. And you cannot run applications from it.
Any app or itunes item you purchase can be deleted from the iPad and re-downloaded at any time (assuming internet connectivity, of course), from thier respective stores. But, any data stored will be lost when you delete the app.
For data, you can use cloud based service such as DropBox (within some limts).
Games will vary greatly in size, but will be far smaller than video files. On a 16gb ipad, 6 movies might be pushing it, but you could probably mange 4 or so.
The price difference between 16 and 32Gb is I beleive about  £80. You might be better of saving up a bit before making that purchase. The only otehr options (such as external Wifi enable hard drives for media) will run you considerably more than that.

  • Ipad Mini Replacement and wanting to purchase AppleCare for the replacement

I have sent my iPad mini for repair of the screen and will be getting the replacement.  Can I purchase AppleCare for this replacement once I register and receive it?
    Thank you.

I don't think AppleCare+ is available for replacement devices, but to be sure you should aks Apple directly for an accurate answer.

I plan to purchase a Mac mini and then a new iPad.  Can I use the iPad as a keyboard and screen for the Mac mini, using either the USB connector or Wi-Fi?

I'm sorry, I should have said thru Bluetooth, not Wi-Fi.  I want to use the mini as a base station and the iPad like a laptop that I can sync when I'm home and carry with me when I travel.  Is is possible to hook these 2 up - iPad/mini, through Bluetooth?  I understand I need to use a regular monitor/keyboard/mouse on the initial install.

If your son is under 13, then you will need to set up an account for yourself and allow him to use it.

If you did not purchase within 14 days, you cannot exchange your iPad 2. You can resell it on eBay or the like.

  • Applecare+ for iPad

My son who lives USA bought me an iPad in April 2013 for my birthday. It was bought using a UK credit card in an Apple store. The selling agent recommended applecare+ for the iPad. I live in the UK, unfortunately said iPad was dropped with the resulting screen crack. Looking on-line the warranty does not specify that it not an international policy, indeed the wording states that "Apple may honour the warranty". However that is not the case Apple UK refuse to honour the policy, stating that the 'Insurance Policy" is only valid in the country of purchase. An olive branch may be offered by Apple UK if you can get to an apple store; unfortunately I live i the north of Scotland, with the nearest Apple store being 130 miles away. The suggestion was to ship my iPad to the USA to my son get it repaired etc, or get it repaired in the UK or bin it. I see apple in the light of PPP at this stage, quite willing to sell the product, take the money then refuse to do anything. I would have thought it's not beyond the wit of Apple to have some transfer agreements in place to cover these situations.
Has anybody so far been able to get Apple UK to move on this situation

The warranty is NOT international otherwise the Apple documentation would explicitly say so.
Your least expensive option would be to send the iPad back to your son who can get it fixed under Applecare+. Back it up before sending. You will receive a replacement iPad.

  • AppleCare for iPad purchased from Amazon

I'm about to buy a 64gb iPad Air and noticed that they're selling on Amazon for roughly £100 less than they cost if I bought it direct from Apple. If I bought the iPad from Amazon, would I still be able to buy AppleCare for it online or in the Apple store, as if I'd bought it from the proper Apple store?

If it's AppleCare+ you mean, it doesn't matter where you buy the iPad, but it APP+ needs to be bought within 30 days of buying the iPad.  You need to buy it over the phone at the Apple store.

  • AppleCare for my iPad?

I bought an iPad on Craigslist and I was wondering if there was anyway to tell if it has AppleCare? I know most of you will say to ask the person I got it from. I'm working on it lol but if I can't reach him I was just wondering if there was any other way to tell? There's nothing wrong with the iPad but I just don't wanna go spend money on AppleCare for it if it already has it. First iPad so I don't know much about the AppleCare lol sorry if this question sounds newbie lol. Thanks!

  • Applecare for ipad 2 not bought at apple

So I bought a new ipad 2 online at a site that wasn't apple. I was wondering if I can still buy applecare for up to one year after I purchased this item or did I need to buy the item from apple?

Unless the seller on eBay is an authorized Apple dealer - unlikely, but not impossible - then the warranty date starts from the date the seller purchased the iPad (or whatever date it was first purchased from an authorized dealer, whenever and by whoever that was). The date the warranty expires should appear if you enter in the serial number here:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
and you can determine the original purchase date from that.
    Regards.

Already gone through troubleshooting guide a zillion times. Thanks.

This worked for me... A little time consuming but once you get rolling it goes GREAT... Thanks....
I got my artwork and saved it to my Desktop
Opened up Microsoft Paint and clicked on "File" and "Open" and found it to get it on the screen to resize it
Clicked "resize" and a box for changing it opened up
Checked the box "Pixels" and "Unchecked maintain aspect ratio"
Set Horizontal for 640 and Vertical for 480
Clicked on "OK" and went back to "File" and did a "Save As" and chose JPEG Picture
It came up "File Already Existed" and clicked "OK" (really did not care about the original artwork I found because wrong size)
Went to iTunes and on the movie right clicked on "Get Info", clicked on "Details", then "Artwork"
Go to the little box on the top left that shows your old artwork and click on it to get the little blue border to appear around it and hit "Delete" to make it gone
Click on "Add Artwork" and find it where you put the one from above on your Desktop and hit "Open" and OK and your new artwork is now there and all good.
Sounds like a lot of steps to follow but after around 5 or so you will fly through it. This worked perfect on my iPhone 6 Plus and I have artwork on my Home Videos now.

  • I can't purchase anything even though I redeemed an iTunes card for $15. Apple is asking to verify my credit card info, and also for answers to security codes that are not mine.

Okay so I just got an iPhone 5. My first iPhone. In the past I've had two different iPods, an iPod Touch 3rd Generation, and an iPad 2.
I only have 87 cents in my bank account so I paid cash for a $15 iTunes card so I could get some applications on my new iPhone 5. I realize that iTunes won't let me download updates or buy new applications when my bank account has a low or insufficient balance, so it will ask to verify the code on the back of the card. After entering the code, it says to please enter valid information. The information is valid, but won't be accepted because it has a low balance.
I tried selecting "None" as my payment options to see if that would allow me to make purchases using the $15 balance I just redeemed from the iTunes card. It doesn't seem to help the situation.
I went to contact Apple, but I had to schedule a call (this is the first time I've ever had to contact support for a problem - ever). I also sent in an email hoping I would get a response sooner. I want to play with my phone now, not in a few days when they can finally call me back...
While trying to figure out a solution to this, I ran into a couple of security questions that aren't even mine... They can't be because I don't have an answer for them. These security codes are not mine. I tried putting in an answer and it didn't work - obviously, because the questions don't apply to me. What the heck is going on Apple? I've never had so much trouble with your services before.
I'm not very happy right now.

Look, I understand I still need a card attached to the account. The problem is, it won't accept my card because I only have 87 cents in my bank account right now.
If I had known there would be so much trouble with the iTunes card, I would have just put the cash in my bank account in the morning instead of buying an iTunes card (I didn't expect the banks to be open on Thanksgiving of course).
Apple will only accept cards that have a balance. The balance is so small in my account that it won't accept it as a valid card.
I'm going to have to contact Apple anyway to reset the security questions. That's obvious. Your answers were not exactly helpful. You didn't tell me anything I don't already know, but thanks for trying to be helpful.
