A002: warning messages in alert log
Can anyone tell me if this is really an informational message or if it is indicating a problem
It is appearing on the apply system (10gr3)
Thu Jul 21 17:20:08 2005
A002: warning -- apply server 1, sid 118 waiting for event (since 5456 seconds):
A002: [rdbms ipc message] timeout=1f4, =0, =0
Thanks
This message is informational only. There was a bug opened for apply process writing too many messages into the alert log. This issue has been fixed in 10.2 and fix was included in PSR 10.1.0.4. Please apply this patchset.

Message in alert log file during the startup of the DB
Hi,
i have two instances, i have the same warning in the alert log file during the startup of the DB:
Oracle instance running on a system with low open file descriptor limit.
Tune your system to increase this limit to avoid severe performance degradation.
The db_files parameter was at 1024 for the two instances, i have set it to 300 for the first instance and 550 for second, the message for the first instance was droped(it's ok), but the message was there in the alert log for the second instance.
The two instance are on the same machine.
The number of the open file limit on the linux machine is equal to 1024.
I have shutdown the first instance (with db_files=300) the problem persits for the second instance (with db_files=550).
My question is how to determinate the right value of db_files parameter to avoid this message.
Regards.
Message was edited by:
learnIncrease the max number of open file on Linux or decrease db_files.
f the OS limit is 1024 db_files would have to be >= 472 for the message to be printed. t is printed if an instance is configured to access more datafiles than the OS-specific limit on the number of files that can be open in a single process. In this case the server will re-cycle the file descriptors.

RaghuHi,
You can ignore similar warning messages -- See (Oracle Applications DBA Minipack R12.AD.A [ID 401424.1]) for details. However, I would suggest you log a SR to confirm this with Oracle support.

SMON ABOUT TO RECOVER UNDO SEGMENT s messages in alert log
Problem
======
There are lots of messages appearing in alert log of the following form:
SMON: about to recover undo segment %s
SMON: mark undo segment %s as available
Reason
======
When the recovery is going on after a abnormal shutdown. Cause These errors do not indicate rollback segment corruption. In oracle8i, this may becoz of problem with the "rollback_segments" parameter in the init.ora. where as in oracle9i, When the instance is shutdown, during the next startup instance recovery needs to take place.
In AUM we do not have any control over which undo segments will brought online after the instance startup.When SMON finds such offline undo segments with transactions needing recovery ,then it does what is intended to do recovery.
Solution
======
with oracle8i, we need to cross check rollback_segments" parameter in the init.ora
with oracle9i,
first note down segment from SMON: mark undo segment %s as available
sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
alter session set "_smu_debug_mode"=4;
alter rollback segment <offline segment name> online;
e.g. alter rollback segment "_SYSSMU11$" online;
Where 11 is the number that is appearing in the messages in the alert log.What's the point duplicate metalink doc here,
SMON: ABOUT TO RECOVER UNDO SEGMENT %s messages in alert log
Doc ID: Note:266159.1
besides it's violation of Oracle support service contract. -
Warning message into Application log of Service request
Hi Experts,
I have a requirement where I am using Event handlers(CRMV_EVENT) to redetermine partners of a service request whenever certain values are changed in the transaction CRMD_ORDER.
Partners will be retrieved from a custom table.
In any circumstances, if the partners cannot be determined then we need to push a WARNING message stating that "Partners can not be determined, pls maintain the values in the custom table'.
For this purpose I am using the function module CRM_MESSAGE_COLLECT with the following parameters, but still I am not able to see the same into the Application log of the Service request that is going to be created.
CALL FUNCTION 'CRM_MESSAGE_COLLECT'
EXPORTING
iv_caller_name = 'ORDERADM_H'
IV_REF_OBJECT = iv_header_guid
IV_REF_KIND = 'A'
IV_LOGICAL_KEY = '0001'
IV_MSGNO = '001'
IV_MSGID = 'ZSP'
IV_MSGTY = 'W'
IV_MSGV1 = SY-MSGV1
IV_MSGV2 = SY-MSGV2
IV_MSGV3 = SY-MSGV3
IV_MSGV4 = SY-MSGV4
IV_MSGLEVEL = '1'
IV_FIELDNAME =
IV_ACTION =
IV_LOG_HANDLE = lv_log_handle
IV_CUMULATE = 'X'
IF sy-subrc <> 0.
MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
ENDIF.
Do I missed in passing of any additional parameters?
Can any one of you have encountered the same problem and solved this, pls through some light on me too(if possible with block of code).
Thanks in advance.Hi,
Here is the block of code that I used to push a message in to Application log.
Push your message into a variable called dummy and then call the below mentioned function module.
DATA: lv_dummy(254) TYPE c, "#EC NEEDED

CALL FUNCTION 'CRM_MESSAGE_COLLECT'

Mod_plsql warning message in apache logs
The following warning message has been reported in error logs and it relates to wwv_flow package :-
[Thu Oct 19 16:08:47 2006] [warn] mod_plsql: /pls/htmldb/wwv_flow.accept had to be described for execution. Refer to the PL/SQL GateWay documentation on how to avoid this
I have checked the doco at http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/A97335_01/apps.102/a90099/apptroub.htm#634288
Section B.7.1 is the relevant section and I think its to do with mod_plsql unable to find out if the parameters to wwv_flow.accept are scalar or array and hence having to first do a describe everytime.
Do I need to do something about it or just ignore it ?
tks
VishalThanks Scott.
I have asked the client how they have configured this.
If its ON should they turn it OFF ?
What implications would it have then ?

Warning messages in schema "log".
Hello all.
I am creating a payroll function, in order to do some additional validations, and issue some messages, in the schema "log".
When i want to issue an error message, that stops any kind of furter processing, everything is working fine.
However, when i try to issue a warning message (yellow color), nothing happens (the message is not issued, in the schema "log").
Does anyone know what i am doing wrong?
To issue the error message, i wrote the folowing code:
if sy-subrc <> 0.
Mensagem de erro no "log"
CONCATENATE 'Colaborador' pernr-pernr ',não criado como Fornecedor!'
INTO wa_PtEXT-TEXT1 SEPARATED BY SPACE.
wa_PTEXT-TLEVEL = '00'.
wa_PTEXT-TLENGTH1 = STRLEN( PTEXT-TEXT1 ).
wa_pTEXT-TINTENSIV1 = 1.
wa_PTEXT-EMPTY_LINES = 0.
wa_ptext-message = 'X'.
APPEND wa_ptext to P_TEXT.
PERFORM fill_msgtab TABLES p_text
ptext
USING space "pernr dependent
aper_numb
p_mess_pos
'E' "error
'A'
error "T100 Pointer
l_exp.
To issue the warning message, i wrote the following code, that is not working:
Mensagem de Sucesso no "log"
message id wa_mess_tab-msgid type wa_mess_tab-msgtyp number wa_mess_tab-msgnr
with wa_mess_tab-msgv1 wa_mess_tab-msgv2 wa_mess_tab-msgv3 wa_mess_tab-msgv4
INTO wa_PtEXT-TEXT1.
wa_PTEXT-TLEVEL = '00'.
wa_PTEXT-TLENGTH1 = STRLEN( PTEXT-TEXT1 ).
wa_pTEXT-TINTENSIV1 = 1.
wa_PTEXT-EMPTY_LINES = 0.
wa_ptext-message = 'X'.
APPEND wa_ptext to P_TEXT.
PERFORM fill_msgtab TABLES p_text
ptext
USING space "pernr dependent
aper_numb
p_mess_pos
'W' "error
'M'
error "T100 Pointer
l_exp.
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Hugo FerreiraRimpa, could you exemplify the usage of this function module?

Hi Experts,
I want to send a warning message to the order log , for this I used
CALL FUNCTION 'CRM_MESSAGE_COLLECT'
EXPORTING
iv_caller_name = 'ORDER'
iv_ref_object = iv_guid
iv_msgno = 002
iv_msgid = 'ZMSG'
iv_msgty = 'W'
iv_cumulate = 'X'
EXCEPTIONS
not_found = 1
appl_log_error = 2
OTHERS = 3.
MESSAGE ID 'ZMSG' TYPE 'W' NUMBER '002' .
But the problem is order is not saving at all, I want order to be saved and the warning message to be in the log.
Please help me out in this.
Thanks in Advance,
PraveenI am using it in the BADI_ORDER_SAVE, when I do not add this message to the log the pop up message is coming out fine.
In this FM if I send E to iv_msgty ,its working fine too.The problem is coming only for warning messages.
Your time in replying to this thread will be appreciated.
Thanks in Advnace,

Warning messages in system log after upgrading to SP4
Hello there, I am starting to see quite a lot of warning messages in the system log saying the following:
Failed loading JDBC Driver class com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver - Exception:java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
Failed loading JDBC Driver class com.sap.dbtech.jdbc.DriverSapDB - Exception:java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.sap.dbtech.jdbc.DriverSapDB
Failed loading JDBC Driver class org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver - Exception:java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
We are using MSSQL as the underlying database, so maybe something needs to be unchecked somewhere? Any ideas?
Best regards,
AndersAnders,
I just updated to SP4 and tried a user creation (my database is also MSSQL). I did not see any warnings in the system logs. Like Thomas said you must have extra entries in the Tools/Option/Java/JDBC driver names.
All you need is just one entry "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver".
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Warning messages in Order log (GUI)
Hi all,
I need to display warning messages in the message log of Order in GUI. I tried with 'CRM_MESSAGE_COLLECT'. If I take 'W' as the message type, it is not displaying the warning message in the Order, but when I use 'E', it is displaying the error messages in the order.
Let me know the solution. Thanks in advance.
Following is my code.
CALL FUNCTION 'CRM_MESSAGE_COLLECT'
EXPORTING
iv_caller_name = 'ORDER'
iv_ref_object = lv_ord_guid
iv_ref_kind = 'A'
iv_msgno = '001'
iv_msgid = 'ZABC'
iv_msgty = 'W'
iv_cumulate = 'X'
IMPORTING
es_msg_handle = l_msg_handle
EXCEPTIONS
not_found = 1
appl_log_error = 2
OTHERS = 3.
-Santoshhi
Looks like the message numbers you are processing in the function module CRM_MESSAGE_COLLECT are only for 'errors'.
Please go to Transaction: CRMC_MSGS
Look at the following Application Areas
CRM_ORDER
CRM_ORDERADM_H
CRM_ORDERADM_I
CRM_ORDER_MISC
CRM_ORDER_OUTPUT
Select one of the above and double click 'Single Messages' towards your left side on the screen. Select the relavant message number from the list and check the 'S' flag. Press 'F1' (help) on this box and you will see the following.
Only error messages are saved in the processing log. If a message definitely should be saved - contrary to this rule - then the indicator needs to be set.
You need to make sure that a message marked like this can be deleted again - by calling up the function module CRM_MESSAGES_DELETE in the appropriate place in the program.
When you do these steps, please note the message 'Do not make any changes (SAP data)'. This is not tested and used from my side. Please see if this impacts other functions. I am not sure. Do necessary R&D before you proceed further. Please explore tables CRMC_MESSAGES_S and CRMC_MESSAGES and see if this helps.
Reward if helps

Hi,
am getting this warning in my alert log file;
db_create_file_dest is same as db_recovery_file_dest
This database is running in NoArchivelog mode;
What does this error mean?
TIA
Phani krishna.Hi,
This means that in this database has been configured goth parameters to use same directory. And this is not realy advisable since
. db_create_file_dest difnes where DATAFILES (and if db_create_online_log_dest is not defines REDO LOGs and CONTROLFILEs) created via OMF are created
. db_recovery_file_dest difnes where Oracle should create Redo log files, Control files, RMAN backups (datafile copies, control file copies, backup pieces, control file autobackups), Archived logs, Flashback logs
So you should define these parameters to different directories. I don't know if it's critical, but I would change it ASAP or open a SR to get further info. Though it's just a warning, I don't think it's safe to ignore.

Db_writer_processes alert log message
Oracle 11.2.0.3 running on HP-UX Itanium RX8640 with 16 CPUs and OS B.11.31
Upgraded to 11.2.0.3 last night and now I am receiving the following message in alert.log when starting database:
"NOTE: db_writer_processes has been changed from 4 to 1 due to NUMA requirements"
Any thoughts on what this means?Is your system NUMA-enabled?
In a NUMA-enabled box, the minimum number of DBWR process is the number of processor groups, oracle MUST start this minimum of DBWR no matter the parameter you set.
You seem to have the opposite case, as in oracle is forcing it to 1. In this case, I'm led to believe that maybe oracle is mistakenly identifiying your system as NUMA perphaps.
Upload the results for this:
select a.ksppinm "Parameter",
b.ksppstvl "Session Value",
c.ksppstvl "Instance Value"
from x$ksppi a, x$ksppcv b, x$ksppsv c
where a.indx = b.indx and a.indx = c.indx
and a.ksppinm = '_db_block_numa';You may try to do this:
- Set the following OS variable in your database OS owner user profile: DISABLE_NUMA = true
- Set the DBWR to 4 in the SPFILE and bounce the database.
- Verify if the issue continues. In the OS: ps -ef | grep dbwr to see how many dbwr the instance spawned.
