A135-S4527 Host Process for Windows Services stopped...

I have started getting a Windows error: Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed.  Laptop runs fine except my network connection says Connection Status: Unknown The service to detect this status is turned off and McAfee stopped working.  Can't run any of the MS tools either.  I am suspicous of conficker e but don't know how to detect or remove it.  Have seen the b variant on an XP machine at work, but the tools we used on it don't work on Vista.
I am running Vista Home Edition (came on Laptop) upgraded to SP1 with auto-updates on.  McAfee was also set for auto-updates and nightly full scans, active e-mail and internet scanning.  No recent software downloads except for updates.
Have been having the issue since about April 28.  Tried to restore but no dates exist past May 5.  Tried the F8 Startup recovery no problems found.  Have tried restarting services but they quickly stop again.  Uninstalled McAfee and tried AVG. It allowed defintion updates and I scanned all files.  No viruses, trojans or malware detected.
Any suggestions?  I have a tasklstserv file I can copy and paste if it will help.

That's a bad-sector event. At a command prompt (cmd.exe), run chkdsk /r.
   Event ID 7 Source Disk
But it doesn't seem likely that's the cause of the message. When you get another one, note the time and check the Application and System logs for entries at that exact time.
Thanks for the detailed information.
What virus protection do you use?

  • Error message: Host process for windows services stopped

I recently had to install a new hard drive into my laptop. I am running windows vista and have installed all updated drivers. After installing itunes and uploading my backed up library, I went to play a song and I got the error "host process for windows services stopped working and was closed." Movies play fine. I have searched but have not found anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Q I just upgraded to a new mobo and CPU, the EVGA X58 SLi and i7 920, and this issue still persists! That means it is either the sound card or Steam. The drivers on the CD have no issues, only the newer ones do. So by deduction there is something wrong with the new drivers, but I need them to not BSOD in OpenAL!

How can I get rid of this?

    Hello tribefanz,
Sounds like a compatiblity issue with a program and Windows 7. We need to find out what program is causing the issue though. We can do that through event viewer
    1. Click the start orb
    2. Select Control Panel
    3. System and Security
    4. Under Administrative Tools select the Event Viewer
In the event viewer you will want to drill down into the Application and System logs and look for anything with a Red X that says Error. Identify the program causing the problem and then we can go from there.

    Which OS? Which sound card?
Something went wrong when you updated your drivers.
Were there any error messages when you updated your sound drivers?
Can you adjust volume on Windows 'mixer' (Control Panel-->Sounds and Multimedia --> Audio tab:Sound Playback:Volume)? If not then somehow you have maybe 'lost (control over)' windows kmixer.
If you got XP then try if reinstalling SP2 helps anything. Check also first, if "Audio Service" is running (on services manager).

  • Generic Host process for WIN32 encountered an error and needed to close

    Hi,
I hv installed SAP ECC6.0 SR3 on WIndows 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition. Many times i get an popup message on Windows Server "Generic Host process for WIN32 encountered an error and needed to close"
I hv checked the Event Viewer, in Event Viewer it shows the application error.
Consequences of this error is that my Transport path //hostname/sapmnt/trans becomes inaccesible, and I have to take the restart of Windows server to solve the problem. ONce Windows server is restarted for some time transports work, Again when receiving the same error popup on Windows, Transport path goes down.
Can anyone give input on this???

    Hello,
You have posted a question that is related to system transports. Unfortunately this category is not related to these kind of questions. SAP TM deals with logistics in the real world - moving pallets, containers, loading trucks, etc.
To learn more about SAP TM please visit http://service.sap.com/scm-tm
Therefore I will now move this thread to the category Software Logistics. Thank you for your understanding.
    Kind regards,

  • Create metric alert in OEM 12c for windows services

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to create metric alert for services on a windows host, so that when any service is in stopped state, we will get an alert.
We can check the status of services from OEM that are running in a windows server.
Host -> Monitoring -> All Metrics -> Services
I got below command from this forum that was posted a long time ago,
nmefwmi "wbem_wql=select name, pathname, processid, Started, startmode, state, status from win32_service" "wbem_wql_column_order=name, pathname, processid, Started, startmode, state, status" "wbem_namespace=root\cimv2"
However, I am not sure where to run this command. Basically we want to get an alert when a windows service stops.

    Hi Abid,
Ensure you are logged in as sysman user or any other super Admin user
Go to Host -> Monitoring -> All Metrics -> Services >
Next to Collection Schedule there is a modify button > click on that
It will show a new page having following options
Data Collection Enabled Disabled (Select Enabled here)
    Frequency
Default is 15 min , if you want then you can change it accordingly
    Regards,
    Rahul

  • Application Restart and Recovery APIs doesn't work for windows services

I am using the Application Restart and Recovery mechanism (provided in Windows API Code Pack for Microsoft.NET Framework) to collect some information (i.e. stack information when there's an unhandledexception)  before my windows service crash down.
It works well for windows form applications, but the callback method wouldn't be called if the host is a windows service.
I have checked the article: https://msdn.microsoft.com/zh-cn/subscriptions/downloads/cc303708
But it doesn't specify clearly whether it works for a windows service. It seems that the recovery will only be activated when the user interacts with the error dialog of Windows Error Reporting (clicking "close" on the dialog, for example).
So I am wondering is my guess right that the Application Restart and Recovery mechanism doesn't work for windows services. Or is there a better way to meet my requirement?

I would suggest trying ARR if that's what you want to use.  The restart portion won't work, but it doesn't need to as if you fail out of your service, the Windows service controller will handle recovery (up to and including restarting your service).
You configure those recovery actions either through code or one of the built in administrative tools for services such as services.msc.
DebugDiag/ADplus and similar tools ultimately do use built-in APIs; you don't need to add anything external to collect debugging information.  You do however have to write a good deal of code to do somethings.  It's pretty simple to use the unmanaged
function that I pointed out before and
MiniDumpWriteDump to write a minidump when you hit an unexpected error(the dbghelp.dll that comes installed with Windows has it so you don't need anything additional installed).  You can even write a basic debugger that literally debugs a process using
    only kernel32 functions (see
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms679301(v=vs.85).aspx if you're interested).

  • ICal Error: "No virtual host found for iCal Service" - Help!

Trying to set up iCal on OS X Server 10.5.6
Server is up and running and successfully providing web services on its FQDN. Server is not currently used to support network users / services, but as and when it does it will be the Master Opendirectory server.
I have created a couple of test accounts on the server (simply in the Users group) and enabled both for Calendar Access.
I have provided the details of the FQDN on the iCal page, and checked that the default port (8008) has been opened in the firewall.
In web services there is one virtual domain (using name based virtual server) and the default domain in operation. Both appear to be functioning as would be expected.
When I click on 'start service' for iCal, I get this error.
"No virtual host found for iCal service"
I cannot find any information about this in iCal manual, or online documentation. Can anyone here provide pointer to where this information is, or what it means?
    Would be most grateful.

  • SAPCCM4X.03 Windows Service stops after 3 sec.

    Hi!
I would like to set up the SAPCCM4X agent on the satellite system.

    Hello Jürgen,
WARNING: Service SAPCCM4X.03 already stopped. But agent is running!
you could try to clean up the part of the shared memory used by the agent:
    sapccm4x pf=<instance profile> -initshm
    Maybe the agent starts afterwards.

  • No virtual host found for iCal service

    Hi all,
I recently created a link aggregation for our xserve, in doing this i needed to demote my open directory to standalone and then promote it back to master (archive and install users).
In doing this it appears that iCal has spat the dummy, in that our users could not connect. I turned iCal off and on in the hope that this correct it, however when trying to turn back on I get the error "No virtual host found for iCal service..."
Check host name reveals that names match.
Any ideas guys, I'm happy to fully restart iCal (events are backed up), however I can't even get it started yet!
    Thanks,
    Nige

  • "No Virtual Host Found for iCal Service" help?

    I have Leopard Server installed.
When I try to "Start iCal" in Server Admin, "No Virtual Host Found for iCal Service" pops up.
Also, I can't configure the server in the Directory Utility. Utility claims the ip address is incorrect, even though I know it is.
    HELP!!!

I just solved this problem by creating a Kerberos record for the iCal server in my Open Directory server's Kerberos realm. The iCal server can join your Open Directory's Kerberos realm through its Open Directory pane's 'Join Kerberos' button. (I think this could be presented better.)
If you're not using Kerberos, then you'd probably solve the problem by selecting 'Digest' as the 'Authentication' method.

  • Permissions for Windows Service on Server

    Post Author: bdimon
    CA Forum: Authentication
I wrote a Windows service running as an Active Directory user. It cannot print on the Windows Server so I wrote a windows application to test the permissions. When a user with local admin rights runs the test application, it prints. He starts the program using the "Run As" option and enters the Active Directory user from the service, he gets the same error as the Windows Service gets. This must be permissions-based.
When I installed this Windows Service on a staging server, everything was fine. However the staging server was not "secured" by the network team so the Active Directory user had Read/Execute permissions on the C: drive. I do not want to ask for these permissions on the production server's C: drive.
    The error is:

I believe I'm having a similar problem, and was hoping to see if either you have found an answer to the problem or reactivate this thread in hopes someone will finally answer us.I'm creating reports using a windows service as well.  The report files are compiled into the DLL, and they are being exported to save them to disk.   The error is being generated when the report object is first accessed (which happens to be when attempting to set the Text property on a TextObject).  It works fine on my development machine.  I've installed the service on the production server using a Visual Studio 2005 Setup and Deployment project.  I added the 2005 Crystal merge module to the setup, so all necessary files should exist on the server.  The service is running as a domain user that has admin rights on the local machine, but we're still getting this error that seems, according to posts I've found online, to be a permissions issue. Here is the exception in its entirety:
