A2: Web gallery - Disable "Tell a friend"

is it possible to disable the "Tell a friend" option at a web gallery?

I would also like to know if this is possible. I just created a Web Gallery via Aperture 2 which is hidden and set up to be viewed by a few people which I set up login/password in Aperture. So if they login and view the gallery, the Tell a Friend feature is enabled which frankly I don't want.

As far as I know, you cannot disable the ability for a user to view source from any browser without O/S or browser chrome level access. If you are creating screens for an external audience you are out of luck.
If you are creating screens for use in a controlled internal environment, then the view source option of IE might be controllable using windows registry keys.

Web gallery - disabled - my fault?

When I select 'Output' in Bridge CS4 nothing happens the right hand panel which, on my other system changes to Output, remains unchanged from whatever it was already set to. Now I must admit I made a change when first installing CS4. From the Goodies folder I installed several plugins one of which I thought was the Web Gallery plugin and did the following:<br />1. Install the Web Photo Gallery plug-in.<br />2. From the Photoshop CS4 install disc, drop the //<language>/Goodies/Presets/Scripts/Layer Comps To WPG.jsx file into the //Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets/Scripts folder and overwrite the existing Layer Comps To WPG.jsx.<br />As I didn't do this on my laptop where the web gallery functions normally, have I somehow prevented it from working and how do I rectify it. That looks strange. What you seen in the 'C:\Documents and Settings\[useraccount]\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS4 Extensions\Adobe Output Module' should be at this folder:
'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Bridge CS4 Extensions\Adobe Output Module'
Did you have this folder 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Bridge CS4 Extensions\Adobe Output Module' with the '5 folders:
adobeoutputmodule - AMT - contactsheet - medialgallery - resources + 2 files: AdobeOutputModule.jsx and IncludeHelper.jsxinc '.
If not, I would suggest you uninstall and re-install the application. it seems it didn't install to the right place. If you don't want to reinstall, please try following step:
a. move this folder 'C:\Documents and Settings\[useraccount]\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS4 Extensions\Adobe Output Module to
'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Bridge CS4 Extensions\Adobe Output Module'
b. reset and launch Bridge.

Tell a friend MobileMe gallery not working in Aperture 3

I am trying to share my gallery photos - tell a friend is not working this week - it has worked fine for the past 3 years - what's up?

is that the same for all your galleries, or only one particular gallery?
Do your galleries sync o.k. with Mobile Me? Do you see the sync sign below?
Try, if you can "Tell a friend" from the "Web Interface" - click the MobileMe button and select "Visit ...", from your gallery it is also possible to invite people to view. If that also does not work, something probably is wrong with your Mobile Me settings in the System Preferences.
If the web interface works, but not the Aperture interface,check the Aperture Preferences -> Web.
It should show your account as enabled.

How come I can't see my web gallery to insert into iWeb?

G'day people
I have several web galleries and want to insert them into a web page I'm creating with iWeb '08.
However, when I go to "Insert -> .Mac Web Gallery" it tells me that there are none! I have a .Mac account which is set-up and accessible without any problem when I'm iPhoto. The .Mac account I am using in iWeb is the same as the .Mac account in iPhoto so I can't figure this one out.
Any idea?

The reason they don't appear is because the galleries are password protected.It's not a bug, it's a feature!

Web Gallery -- iPhoto Library Does it Synch?

I posted my Christmas pictures and movies on my web gallery so that my friends can download the items they want and upload their photos too.
So far, 7 photos have been uploaded to my web gallery and I am trying to figure out how to get iPhoto to fetch these 7 new pictures and put a copy in my library on my HD.
I'd expect this to be done automatically but it doesn't seem to be the case.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried clicking on the publish button next to the gallery to see if that will do it? Be careful suscribing to the gallery because it's been reported that doing so may replace your full sized versions in iPhoto with the file in the gallery. You don't want that.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Can't send to .mac web gallery?

Hello, This feature has never worked for my phone, and having just recently started making use of my .mac account, I thought it would be fun to send photos to my web gallery. Problem is...Every time I try to send a picture to my .mac web gallery, it tells me that my .mac login has failed, and to check my .mac name and password in mail settings. They are correct, and I can get and receive mail on my .mac address. What gives? I've tried several times over the past several weeks. Any suggestions?

One thing to check out that might help.
Can you send and receive mail on your .mac account on your iphone.
If so, try emailing a photo to you .mac gallery without using the the send to web gallery button.
Use the email photo button and enter the .mac gallery email address

Another thing, go to settings > mail and check the default account is set to.
If you have more than one email account on the iphone, try setting it to the an account other than the .mac account.

IPhoto crashes when Tell A Friend in Web Gallery

When I click on Tell A Friend in my Web Gallery, Mail opens with "The Page Cannot Be Found" in the Subject line and "HTTP Error 404- File or directory not found" within the body of the text as well as other information. Also a message box pops up stating " The application iPhoto quit unexpectedly" . This will occur without fail. If I change the iPhoto preference "Email Photos using:Mail" to Entourage instead of Mail the problem goes away and I can email the invitation without a hitch. However, I would like to use Mail since this is my preferred email application. I have not had any problems with Mail when I use it outside of iPhoto. Does anyone have a solution?

Web Gallery, Tell a Friend, Mail

I was recently at a hotel, which required re-directed the web browser to a dedicated log-in site for the internet. While using Aperture, I attempted to "Tell a Friend" of a new Web Gallery. Instead of the usual link page for sending a Web Album notice ("You've been invited...", with the album link) to a friend as part of the Mail message, the send mail message when it opened in Mail was re-directed to this hotel login site. The Aperture application crashed and closed.
Now that I am home, whenever I try to send a "Tell a Friend" email from the Aperture application, the mail message shows the same hotel login in re-direction site, and then Aperture crashes.
Q: How do I get the default "Tell a Friend" link back when I try to send the email? There must be a default setting somewhere that needs to be re-set to the default link.

I did not see your original post, but would think it could have been resolved by purging the preferences file for A2. It would either be the com.apple.Aperture.plist at Home/Library/Preferences or possibly the Export preset file at Home/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Export Presets.plist. However I am not sure given that I have not experienced this issue.

Web gallery "tell a friend" link not working properly

hi there,
I want to use the tell a friend link in iphoto to point people to a new photo gallery that I posted to my mobileme gallery. But when I select the appropriate web gallery and click on the tell a friend icon in iphoto, it creates an email that introduces mobileme, and doesn't have any of the information about my web gallery with links and a thumbnail, etc.
help!

Once you have selected Tell A Friend from Web Gallery, is there any way to check and see if it was actually sent as in Mail with the Sent folder?

"Tell a friend" email for web galleries- black on black for PC users

Whenever I send out an email to friends with info for a web gallery, everyone who uses a PC (most everyone I know) gets the email and the text is black on a black background and they can't read it. I have to add text to the email with the username and password. When I cc myself on the email and get it on my Mac, it's white text on black background.
What's going on here? It's been this way for 4 web galleries so far.

Try using the Tell a Friend option in iPhoto's toolbar instead of the option of the online gallery. It will look like this except I've changed the font and color of the lower URL line which you can do with this method.

How do I disable Download Option on .Mac Web Gallery

I created my pages on .Mac Web Gallery with iweb from my iphoto albums yesterday. At that time I chose to enable viewers to download these photos. I have changed my mind and now want to disable the downloading option. How do I do this with out having to delete and then upload the pages all over again.

If you created the gallery in Iphoto open iphoto, select the gallery, click on "settings" at the bottom, make the changes and re-publish.

IPhoto '09 MobileMe gallery "tell a friend" email not displaying password

It used to be when I clicked on the iPhoto MobileMe Gallery "Tell a Friend" button an email would open and have the username and password.
Now, it shows the username, but the password isn't displaying. Instead it reads PASSWORD.
What happened to make it do this?
How is a friend supposed to know the password if it doesn't display.

Could be a damaged database file in the library. Backup and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.
