A205-S5866, "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL/Blue Screen event", when connected to Ethernet,

I will apologize in advance if I'm in the wrong place or if this is too elemental, I tried searching a bit before posting.  But here goes...
I started getting the "DRIVER.IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" message/Blue Screen problem event yesterday.  There are a few things that over the course of the last 24 hrs that started to appear as potential triggers/accomplices. (maybe I was/am reaching, I don't know)
*It only has happened when my laptop was connected to an Ethernet wire/chord.  This was the 1st time I had used it, previously I had
always used wifi. (without any problems)
*It seemed to crash/shut down around when I would sign in or out of yahoo messenger or my "myyahoo" page
Extra points of relevant info... 2 things that I did hours before the 1st occurrence:
1) I did a windows update (the automatic kind, that you get notices prompting you about);
2) I had internet service set up in my apartment & the company's tech did the installation. (also, I am from the U.S. and bought my laptop at home before I left, but I am now in Seoul, S. Korea, just in case that is relevant somehow)
What I have done (after this started to happen) so far, is 1) used the internet via wifi without problem, 2) performed a system restore to before the automatic update, 3) tried again with the Ethernet & encountered the same problem.
Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions!

Jerry & CristopherC, again, thanks for your replies.  Not sure if you realize how much the "technologically challenged" like myself appreciate the help!
OK...
ChristopherC you understood correctly, I have been able to access the net (& stay on for long periods of time) without any problems.  But when connected by the ethernet/modem I get those messages, etc.
*I am trying as hard as I can to avoid the "clean wipe" of my cpu because as I mentioned, I am in Korea & I have a "slingbox" type thing that I am accessing back home to get American cable, and if I perform that, then the network connection I established will be lost.
Jerry - You nailed the "stop #/BCCcode" it was D1.  The time I had the Microsoft "auto search" for a solution, it came back with this info.: BCCode d1, BCP1 00000004, BCP2 00000002, BCP3 00000001, BCP4 8BDD5DD9, OS Version  6_0_6001, Service Pack 1_0, Product 768_1
BUT... I copied down the just the message info. (without the autosearch) 2 of the other times, and it gave:
-Stop:  0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x82BF3DD9, 0xA6DE3204, 0x00000000)
-Stop:  0x000000D1 (0xCBE46973, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8289DB4E)
Also, I made an attempt once at the "Safe Mode Diagnostic", and got this other info... Prob Event Name: Blue Screen, Locale ID: 1033, OS Version (which seems slightly different than the #'s above) 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
I not sure what, if any, significance this info has. :-)
OK, I will to do those hot fixes you suggested & report back.  Thanks again!

  • Blue screen error when connecting an ethernet cable

I have a Compaq Presario 5300US desktop that I'm trying to upgrade.  It has 512mb (max) of memory and a newer video card than the factory one.  I installed Vista Home Basic on it with no problems.  I also installed a pci ethernet card along with the Vista drivers that came with it.  I checked tha card's properties in "device manager" and it said "This device is working properly".  I haven't plugged in an ethernet cable to the card at this point.  Everything is working OK, but as soon as I try to connect the card to my router, I get a blue screen with this message:
    Hardware Malfunction
NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
    *** The system has halted***
I don't get any memory errors as long as I don't try to use the ethernet card.

    Hello @larrycarol99,
I understand that after upgrading your computer when you plug in an ethernet cord you get a hardware malfunction error. I am providing you with a Microsoft Support document: Hardware Malfunction Results in System Error Message that explains what causes that error and provides steps on fixing it. I am also including a link to the Compaq Presario 5300US Desktop PC Drivers page, which unfortunately does not have any drivers for your computer running Windows Vista.
I hope this helps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Blue Screen Crash when iTunes version 9.2 accesses iTunes store

I have posted on a previous issue regardng blue screen crash when upgrading to iTunes v9.2 but have done a few other things to try to locate the problem.
Firstly, as this is a shared computer I used a colleagues login details to login into their desktop. Then opened iTunes from there. It opened perfectly normally and found and played music stored on the computer. However, as I had noticed that iTunes was crashing when I was logged in as it was trying to access the iTunes store I then tried to accesss the iTunes store from within iTunes on my colleagues desktop. Hey presto, blue screen crash with the following error:
    * STOP: 0x0000007E (0x0000005, 0xBF271800, 0xA811350c, 0xA8113208)
    * ati3duag.dll - Address BF271800 base at BF16B000, Datestamp 46eb3954
I then restarted my computer, unplugged it from the network and started iTunes in my desktop. It started normally with no problems. I even synchronised my iPhone without any problems to my music and Outlook (Calendar & Contacts).
I removed my iPhone, then tried to access the iTunes music store and guess what it went half way through the process and gave the Blue Screen error again.
Just for completeness sake I did the same thing using my colleagues desktop iTunes access and iTunes did the same thing again (without synching my phone obviously) and when trying to access the store it gets half way through, hangs and then it crashes.
    Any ideas???

    ati3duag.dll
You're having trouble with the drivers for your ATI Radeon video card or display adapter, lord.
If you've got a name brand PC and the video card or display adaptor came installed with the PC, head to the drivers and downloads page for your particular model of PC at the PC manufacturers website and try updating your video driver or display adaptor driver.
If the PC is custom/home-built, or you've added the Radeon to the system yourself, head to the AMD support website (AMD now owns ATI) and look for updated drivers for your particular model of video card or display adaptor.
If you're already up to date on your drivers, or updating didn't help with the BSOD, try heading into your Device manager and reinstalling your video drivers or Display adaptor drivers.
Do any of those measures give you any relief?

  • I have a problem with using MacBook Pro as wifi router when connected to ethernet

I have a problem with using MacBook Pro as wifi router when connected to ethernet. The Airport icon changes to show a laptop inside, my iPad shows connected (I think) but Safari will not operate. I tried pinging my iPad, it seems to see the iPad, but no connection to Safari or to other apps such as Good on the iPad. I have read many posting and tried repeatedly via Sharing in Systems Preferences, but no luck. Suggestions to fix, or is this a Lion problem?

Usually this is a problem related to the domain name server address. If you open Network preferences, select your Ethernet port then click on the Advanced button then on the DNS tab. You will likely see an entry like 10.0.1.1 already listed. Click on the Add [-] button and enter 208.67.222.222 then click on the OK button and then on the Apply button.  See if this helps.
if it does not help then repeat the above but with the Airport port.

  • Apple TV (1G) doesn't appear in devices list when connected via ethernet

After upgrading to OS X Lion and iTunes 10.4 my Apple TV (1G) doesn't appear in the devices list when connected via ethernet. When I switch to wireless lan the device is shown and the sync process starts but can't copy the new films. The copy operation stops every time and sometines the device disappears from the list.
Despite of the upgrading of OS X and iTunes all the settings are unchanged.
    Anyone an idea?

Since my last update, I've gathered more information.  I'm almost certain this is not entirely a 10.7.1 issue, if an issue in 10.7.1 at all.  10.7.1 may have changed something that caused this issue to appear, but where I was having this problem weekly if not daily, I no longer have the problem. I changed routers.  I was using a new D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit RouterDIR-655.  This router was causing me pain with lock ups.  I replaced it with a Cisco Linksys E4200. I have not had a lockup in over 2 months now and not one sync issue with Apple TV nor my new iPhones, which sync wireless to iTunes on my Mac Pro.
Thinking about how my network is wired leads me to believe the issue was in the router, or maybe a network communication change in 10.7.1 that the DIR-655 was not supporting correctly. My MacPro and a few other hardwired access points in my house go directly to the router.  My AppleTV and Airport Extreme are connected to a Gigabit switch and the Gigabit switch is then connected to the router. I also turn off the wireless capabilities in my routers, as I prefer to let my Airport Extreme handle those duties.  This all means my normal hardwired communication path from my Mac Pro to Apple TV was going through the router, to the switch, to the Airport Extreme and then to my AppleTV.  My Apple TV is connected to the LAN port on the Airport extreme. By going wireless on the MacPro, I was bypassing the router altogether.
As I started out saying, since I replaced my router, my sync issues have also gone away. If your having Apple TV sync issues, you might want to look at the router as well.  Also, while I can’t remember the exact settings, I had opened up or enabled UPnP and other router settings in the DIR-655 to see if that would resolve the sync issues and it did not.  In the end, I just spent the money and bought a new router and life is good now.

  • Blue screen occurs when I connect USB hybrid TV tuner

Hi, I brought a USB Hybrid TV tuner PX1256E and I can't make it run. I have Windows Media Center and when I install the software and connect the hardware to the USB port a blue screen (windows crash) appear and my computer restart.
    Please, May anyone help me?
Thanks, and sorry for bad English. ;)

I am not 100% sure but I believe there can be some conflict between installed software and Windows Media Center. I have Toshiba USB DVB-T TV tuner and it works well on my WXP Professional preinstalled notebook.
I have tested it with Vista too and it works perfectly. If possible test it on some friends PC with preinstalled WXP Home or Professional.

  • Youtube Crashes my computer. Blue Screen event.

OK, so, I have a Toshiba laptop that runs Windows Vista. The internet browser I use is Mozilla Firefox ( just recently downloaded a new beta version of it too and tried that, didn't fix anything). Every time when I'm on youtube, my computer shuts down and gives me a blue screen (sometimes it takes one hour, two hours, three hours, or more, it's also done it right after the computer starts, and I've tried with only youtube open, so it's not that I'm running too many things, I don't think). Then it restarts itself before I have the chance to read anything on the blue screen and tells me that windows is recovering from an unexpected shutdown. It gives me nothing when I look for a solution, but these are the details it gives me:
    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.2
    Locale ID: 1033
    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: a
    BCP1: 34000000
    BCP2: 00000002
    BCP3: 00000001
    BCP4: 81FBEFF9
    OS Version: 6_0_6002
    Service Pack: 2_0
    Product: 768_1
Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini011611-04.dmp
    C:\Users\MustangGirl\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-39608-0.sysdata.xml
    C:\Users\MustangGirl\AppData\Local\Temp\WERC090.tm p.version.txt
I've looked in the youtube support forum. They referred me to the Microsoft support forum to look for a solution.
Then I figured I should check the manufacturer's website. At first I was sure it was something wrong with my DVD driver, but I fixed that and it's still happening. A little over a week ago, I did a system restore back to factory point, so I'm not convinced that that'll work, however I didn't start having this problem until AFTER I did the restore...so maybe that was it? I don't know.
Someone suggested that I've acquired a virus. I have anti-virus software.
And it can't have anything to do with my computer overheating because I use a cooling pad. Any help at all would be very appreciated!
Oh! And it happens in Internet Explorer as well. And I always check for Windows Updates on my computer. I download them when I have them, but right now I don't have any new important ones.
I was finally able to get the blue screen to stay long enough for me to read it. It said that it was shutting down because it detected a problem and was trying to prevent any damage to my computer. It said that if I had never seen the message before, to just restart, but if I had seen it before to follow a bunch of steps which I don't completely understand...
To check if had adequate disk space (--adequate for what?)
If a driver is identified in the stop message (which I don't know if one is) I need to disable that driver (which I don't know how) or check with the manufacturer for driver update (I'm guessing it means on Toshiba's website?)
Change video adapters (once again...no clue?)
It also tells me to check the hardware vendor for BIOS update (don't know what that is or how to do it)
Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing (still don't know)
Then it tells me how to get into safe mode if I need to do it that way.
    Then it says this:
    STOP: 0x0000008E (0x0000005, 0x8D8497C0, 0xA6EFB6B8, 0x00000000)
    igdKmd32.sys - Address 8D8497C0 base at 8D803000, DateStamp 4851d0b0
And then says a bunch of stuff about dumping memory something to disk or whatever.
So ya...if anyone knows what any of this means and can help me out...PLEASE DO!
PS. A BETA version of Mozilla Firefox is my default browser right now since in the past I have encountered issues with Internet Explorer

    Hi
To be honest I never had any problems watching the videos from youtube.
You will need to have the flash player plugin and I noticed that new flash player version has been released. So check this
    Update the flash player
Back to BSOD issue it can happen due to hardware or software issue but in your case I think its software related.
If the flash update does not help, recover the unit again and test it with new fresh preinstalled OS.

  • Blue screen error when I plug my iphone into my PC

HELP!!! I just got an iPhone, and now when I try to plug it into my PC, my PC crashes and gives me a blue screen error. I have made sure I have the latest updates of itunes, and Windows, and I am just not sure what to do . . . Can somebody please walk me through this? Everything I read talks about syncing, but that requires that the computer doesn't crash the minute I put the iPhone into the USB jack . . .
I did sync it once fine, downloaded a few apps, which was also fine. Now I took some photos with my iphone, and wanted to put them on my computer, but it won't even let me plug it in. Please HELP!!!
    Thank you.

  • IPod touch causes "blue screen" crash on connection

So, following a defrag on my XP based pc, when I connect my iPod touch to the pc via USB, the PC immediately blue screens. (STOP 0x0000007E 0xc00000005 0x00000000 0xf78ed7c4 0xf78ed4c0).
I suspect it may be the iPod touch USB driver? Is that likely? If so, how do I remove the corrupt driver and reinstall?
    Thanks

Thankfully, after a few changes and reviewing some of the other posts in this excellent forum, I have resolved the problem. It had nothing to do with the defrag at all. What I had omitted was that prior to the blue screen, I had installed the free Photoshop Mobile App from Adobe. By editing and saving a photo, a new directory was created in the photo albums. Then when I connected the iPod to my PC, for reasons best known to Aple (but see various other threads in this forum) the pc thought the iPod was a camera, and tried to load a USB camera driver. I assume this must have conflicted with an existing USB driver on my pc, causing it to "blue screen". By totally removing the app and the new album on my iPod, I was able to make my pc recognise the iPod as an iPod again. Shame, I thought the photoshop app was good, but I shall avoid it (and any other app that creates albums / photos) in future.
Is there any obvious way to alert Apple to these sort of problems with third party apps - or possibly with their OS on the iPod which should be able to stop errors like this?

I have been using Mozilla for a long time. On one computer where I am running Windows 7, I suddenly started having problems after I downloaded the latest upgrade to Firefox 7.0.1 . not only does silverlight not work-always crashes, but firefox often (several times a day) stops responding and my computer blue screens. Updating this thread...
I see some people talking about Forms 6i and SQL Plus crashing when connecting to a database:
APPCRASH Problem for plus80 and forms 6i builders
Forms Developer 6i will crash if you try connecting to a database running the AL32UTF8 character set. Older systems require the UTF8 character set.
Here are several very old threads with similar issues:
<p>connecting form 6i  to oracle database 10G express edition

More info: In Windows 7, I am running Forms 6i WITHOUT compatibility mode set to XP. It all seems to be running fine. I have had no problems with it since I first installed last year.
Unfortunately, I don't have an Oracle 11 database available to try connecting to. I have only used this setup with Oracle 9 and 10 databases.

  • Blue Screen & Restart when trying to shut down

I've been having this problem the past week or so where when I try to shut down windows, I'll get a little blue screen error after the "shutting down" screen (literally a split second), then a restart of my computer. I can never just shut it down completely anymore, I have to wait for it to restart and then shut it off manually. Now from previous knowledge I know that a blue screen and a restart generally means theres a hardware or software error, but I'm wondering what's causing it to do this. I recently installed an external DVD drive...could that be the problem? I don't know. If anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to fix this, it would be much appreciated. Thanks

this seems like a different problem than the display whine, but a windows blue screen can happen when a +/- incompatible driver is installed. I don't know if you needed to intstall something with the external drive? Maybe de-install related software and check if there are some update patches from Microsoft.
