A205-S5871 STUCK ON TOSHIBA SCREEN

I've taken my laptop to a Toshiba A/S center 2 times already after doing numerous recoveries myself and told them I had a really bad virus.  The Tech didn't open up my laptop both times and just did a system recovery and said there's nothing wrong with the laptop.
I flashed the bios from a cd disk image and it said successfull.  But when I power on the hard disk lights for about a second and then it gets stuck on the Toshiba screen.  And shows option for F2 Setup and then F12 for boot options.
I've tried all the kinds of keys to get it to boot.
I'm guessing the hackers are very high level and that they could load and lock certain hardware drivers as well?  During research I also found out that it's possible to bypass the bios entirely and boot from the hard drive.  But I can't remember where I saw it.
On the second to last system recovery I did after Toshiba repair, my laptop was still getting hijacked there seemed to be a fake final configuration screen on my computer.  It was weird because the screen size was not full and the final config screen was minimizeable I noticed.  Vista was already running underneath final config screen.
They've also cracked Kaspersky, Avast, AVG, Norton 360, and Zone Alarm that I tried on different recoveries at with different IP addresses and even a new hard drive.  And others security like malaware, hijack this, ad-aware, spybot and others!!!
THEY EVEN MY MAIN EMAIL ACCOUNT AND COOKIES GET STORED FOR EVERYTHING!!! - EVEN ENCRYPTED DATA.  If you're interested in details about this PM me.  I thought it was weird before because they always seemed to know where I was on any computer in any place when I logged into my email account.  Cause any computer would start functioning abnormally.
Anyone have an opinion on trying a usb floppy?  I could get in touch with someone with an eprom burner as well.
Or would I just be wasting my time?
Is my computer fried and not even worth traveling to a larger Toshiba A/S center?
A laptop that I'm borrowing got hacked too and 2 cell phones as well! and my girlfirends too.
Can anyone offer any advice?

So I borrowed a USB Floppy and did something really really really dumb - cause I'm desparate to get a working computer and don't have another option for using a different computer tonite, I'm using a computer in a very unsafe pc gaming network that has many trojans droppers, worms, and viruses.  I made a very stupid decision in even coming here...I shouldn't have even plugged the usb floppy here in the first place. and then instead of just reformatting the floppy disk I shift deleted the contents which I later reallized was very sensitive data which I guess the owner didn't realize when he gave it to me. I know how some basic knowledge on recovering lost data but I haven't been able to locate it yet and I'm panicking now.  Does anyone know if the files are in a specific dump folder somewhere and how if I can overwrite the data?  Or do I not even need to worry about it because it was from my device?
I'm exhausted and want to go home.
Please help!

  • Toshiba sattelite pro l40 stuck at splash screen

i was resizing some partitions and when i restart, it freezes at lubuntu starting up, restart again? stuck at toshiba splash screen. if theres no battery and just ac, f2 says enterring setup but stays in splashscreen, with onlly battery f12 says entering boot. and dosent change screen, i tried proper reset but still nothing, recovery cds spin up but the screen dont change.

I had a similar problem with FCPX sticking at the splash screen, this procedure worked for me.
Go to ~/Library/Caches and delete the "com.apple.audiounits.cache" file.
Then launch Logic Pro/Audio Units Manager and rescan all the audio plug-ins.
    FCPX should then startup normally.
If you don't have Logic Pro/Audio Units Manager try removing third-party audio plugins at ~/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components

  • Tecra M3 - Stucks at the Toshiba screen

    Hello everyone,
I am trying to use the Product recovery disk on my Toshiba Tecra M3, however it does not seem to do anything.
I have inserted the disk, turned off computer > started computer again pressing F12> i get the enter HDD password which i do sucessfully> after which it seem to get stuck a a screen with TOSHIBA and all devices icons. after which it does not do anything....
does anyone have any idea on what to do next? or how to use the product recovery disk?
    any help is appreciated. Thanks.
    Nihal.

    > is there another way that i can initialize the recovery disk
No, there is no other way for starting Toshiba recovery disk.
In this case you can contact your authorized service provider. Maybe you can have a new one from them. Just ask for that! ;)
Alternative you can use a Microsoft Windows disk. All drivers and tools can be downloaded on the Toshiba website.

  • Toshiba Satellite stuck at Toshiba splash screen.

My computer has been fine for roughly 5 years. Today, when I plugged in a USB stick, it started hitting me with endless "N:\ cannot be found" type messages. I went down to my taskbar, disengaged the usb stick, unplugged, it and restarted my laptop. It is now stuck at the Toshiba splash screen.
    I have tried:
    - Taking out battery, holding power button, returning battery, and powering up.
    - Entering BIOS (won't work - just beeps and freezes)
    - Entering boot menu (won't work)
    - Booting from Windows CD (just stays at Toshiba screen)
    - Booting from a Live Linux CD (same, just won't...)
I am officially out of ideas and on the verge of just putting the HDD into a case and drawing files from it using a different comp. Any last suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the HDD is not the cause. In fact, it's now being used on another machine and is working perfectly. The computer does this even with other drives in it, and without a HDD at all (when it should at least go past the splash screen and say no drive or OS is found).
I still cannot get into BIOS or the boot menu, and it won't boot from a CD or USB drive. I wanted to try resetting the BIOS by reseating the CMOS battery, but it's soldered down and I don't want to risk trying to drain it with wires (a common resort that risks hurting the mobo).
I think I amy try taking it to some awful repair shop before giving up. Any other thoughts?

  • Toshiba Satellite p75-A7200 stuck on toshiba logo after bios change

My Toshiba Satellite p75-A7200 is stuck on toshiba logo after bios change.
entered bios fine changes from UEFI to CSM boot and now i cannot enter bios or boot past toshiba logo.
Ive tried F2 tapping and holding while powering up the laptop(tried every Fkey,DEL,ESC, with and without FN key)
    cannot re-enter bios.
Also i tried to run the bios update cd created multiple  1.50 1.40 even 1.00, it doesnt seem to read any media.
i tried holding C, FN+C and f and just about every key on the keyboard to get something to work. i had dvd as top of boot priority for a while now so i shouldnt have to try f12 or holding C before boot but i tried . it doesnt seem to read any media
i tried windows 8 install cd, Ubuntu, centos, nothing goes past toshiba logo and no errors, i dont get the non bootable device error so its seems to not be reading the dvd. (dvd does spin and make read noises) im trying to find my usb floppy drive to try a floppy version but it acts like its not reading any media.
I also pulled the HDD and all usb devices to make the dvd the only media available and with the HDD out it spins then toshiba logo then black screen with solid white  horizontal curser on top left of screen.(only happens when hdd out)
is there some type of key combination that will force a bios update or a crisis recovery mode for bios.
I also Pulled the battery for 2 solid days(battery, cmos battery, and power supply and held power button for about 10 mins while watching tx to make sure the thing was drained before the 2 day sit with no power at all.
this happened the second i changed from UEFI to CSM boot so its not a motherboard problem or anything like that because all was well before this setting change.
I already pulled the HDD and backed it up to another drive and swapped it to elimiate that.
any ideas on a secret key combo to force a bios read from dvd or usb or anythng.
or another combo that im just missing to enter bios after CSM boot.
    UPDATE
to do a crisis recovery on this laptop
1 get a usb stick and format it in fat or fat32
2 download "7zip" and install it if you dont have it.
3 download bios from toshiba website.
4 run the installer for bios but dont choose and option just close it we just want to extract the files to the location normally  c:\splnvxxx where xxx is the version number like 150
5 goto the installed locaion "c:\splnv150" or whatever number.
    6. find file os2014273a_150 or something similar. it will be an application, it will end in version number _150, and it will also have a disc image file of the same name. but we want the app.
    7. right click on it and you should have an option 7zip then extract
once extracted there is a folder now archesxxxxxx_bios_v150_win
8 copy the bios file located in archesxxxxxblahblah/X64/BIOS.fd , BIOS.fd is the bios and just copy that to a BLANK usb thumb drive that was formatted with fat or fat32.
    9. put usb into your satellite and unplug the power from it.
10 holding FN + ESC key together plug the power back in and press power button.
    11. release keys FN and ESC if all is right it will have the power button and led on from blink abut every 1 second while it searches for the bios. once its done it will reboot and you should be good to go.
if it keeps cycling with the power button then the bios is named wrong or something is not right with the usb. try reformatting it again and make sure that the bios file is the ONLY thing on the drive.

Ok a little research and digging into the bios exe downloaded from toshiba shows this has INSYDE BIOS witch should have a recovery process wich i prepared a usb stick with just the bios.fd on it found some post around toshiba forums with different models using win +B or Fn + F but neither of these worked for me to force bios update
anyone with this model know the key combo to force recovery

  • Equium A300D-13x stucks on installation screen

I recently sent my laptop (Equium A300D-13x) back to Toshiba to be repaired as it was overheating and cutting out.
It came back today and when I turned it on I got the screen where I was asked if I wanted to go into safe mode or start Windows normally.
Then it goes to a screen where it says, *Finishing the installation may take several minutes.
Please do not interrupt or shutdown the computer!*
I've been waiting all day now and I'm still stuck on this screen.
Has anyone had the same problem? And if so, how can I fix it?

    Hi
Ive recovered my notebook many times and the installation went always troublefree.
But of course such installation issue could happen always and I think you should simply repeat this procedure.
If you dont have Toshiba Recovery disk then try to recover the notebook using the HDD recovery option.
Just press F8 while notebook powering up.
Then choose Repair my computer. Then a new window will appear and you could select the new option called Toshiba HDD.
    Check it out!

  • I just downloaded version 7.1.1 and my phone is stuck on a screen showing me to plug phone into computer and go to iTunes. When I do this, iTunes says my phone is in recovery and I need to do a hard restore. Doing this, it says it will go back to factory

how can I keep my data doing a hard recovery on my phone? I uploaded newest version and phone is stuck on a screen telling me to plug phone into computer and go to iTunes, when I do this, iTunes says my phone is in recovery and I need to restore, Can anyone please help me get my phone back without losing anything?

You shouldn't have to restore your phone to keep your data. But first press home and on button at the same time until phone shows up Apple logo an boots up normally. When the phone comes back on plug into ituens and back it up by selecting "Back Up Now". Once backed up, you can press update and install 7.1.1 and it will restore and recover all your previously backed up data. You can also press "update" and itunes will automtically back up the phoen and install 7.1.1.

  • MBP stuck on grey screen

This morning my MBP, mod 6,2 (8GB, 500GB), started acting strange (would not minimize Word, Safari would crash and re-crash on restart...)
so I decided to reboot it. Never came back.
The system sits on the grey screen forever. In many attempts, once or twice it went to the login screen, and after I entered the password, got stuck on that screen removing the cursor.
    So far I have:
    - booted ML in recovery mode, checked and rechecked the HD (verify disk, check permissions....) - all ok
(recovery mode runs fine, I can browse the web, run disk utility....without any problem)
    - reset PRAM and SMC (even if the problem does not appear related)
    - booted the AHT disk and passed the brief test (am running the extended one now)
    - booted in verbose mode and learned that the system gets stuck in these steps
    Com.apple.launchd          1 com.apple.UserEventAgent-LoginWindow                       #          stopping job
    Com.apple.launchd          1 com.apple.UserEventAgent-LoginWindow                                #          Sent Job SIGKILL

where # is the process ID, which keeps increasing. The first time it appears, reads 249, then works its way up constantly.
Any clue on what could be wrong?? I'm mostly interested in backing up the last few days of work before doing anything
drastic with the system, but need to get in the system to do that.
    Thanks in advance

If you want to preserve the data on the boot drive, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup) or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in the support article linked below, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
How to back up and restore your files
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode by holding down the key combination command-T at the startup chime. Connect the two Macs with a FireWire or Thunderbolt cable. The internal drive of the machine running in target mode will mount as an external drive on the other machine. Copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • Powermac G5 stuck on grey screen start up and fans running wild

    Hi All
I also have the recurring problem all of a sudden - yesterday all seems well, today am stuck on grey screen and fans getting stronger by the minute. NOTHING works - have been through all sorts of forums and the most I got was to try disk utility - which says all is well - replaced the battery - tried just about anything short of pouring some acid on the **** thing, won't boot from original install CD either - I really need this machine as I earn my living with it and cant afford a new one and why as it was working just perfect - now this mess. In a way don't know why the excellerating fans are not built to simply pick up speed and then eat into the PC board and CPU - at lest this way we know for sure there is nothing we can do.
Does no one here know why the mac is doing this - not even the mac fundies? Unbelievable. I live in Namibia and Apple Mac support here is similar to that on this website - might as well write this on a wall - that is why I am really frustrated... **** Mac

    Follow these steps in order:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570
The G5 is also subject to solder failure around the RAM slots and memory controller.
It is a fatal condition, but one that can sometimes be temporarily sidestepped by heating the logic board between the RAM slots with a hair dryer.
Heat the board until very warm (hot) then start.
If your machine starts after heating, then you better just leave the machine on all the time.
You never know when the trick won't work......

  • Stuck on grey screen screen at start up...apparent Qmaster bug.

So I found what appears to be a bug. At least for me...and at least in 10.6. Not sure if this effects other OS versions.
I was having an issue with start up getting stuck on grey screen. Symptom is eventually start-up circle segments would stop spinning and left hanging there on the grey screen.
There are Apple doc's and ample google hits on this subject. But I have found nothing pertaining to Qmaster as being a possible cause.
It took me awhile to figure it out and was not an obvious issue.
I thought it might be helpful posting this here to bring this up on a google search for someone who may be having the same problem.
    My issue:
Doing image sequence Maya render's. However, I doubt it is Maya related.
If I pause the render in the Batch Monitor. And shutdown. Something with Qmaster still being active hangs my startup. It is repeatable behavior.
I have to start up holding shift key for safe mode.
You will note, if you have 'Show Qmaster service status in menu bar', under the Advance button of QM's System Pref's pane, that the green light is on.
That green light being on, gave me the clue that it was something to do with Qmaster.
Clicking; Stop Sharing and restarting clears the start up hang.
It appears, whatever permutations Qmaster expresses with a paused render on start up, is somehow preventing normal start up.
Since I have read that menu bar items may be one possible cause for start up issues. It's also possible and therefore worth mentioning that unchecking "Show Qmaster service status in menu bar". May also resolve the problem. I have not tested that.

Issues like this are often caused by startup jobs that are taking far too long to finish. It definitely looks like a serious bug so it's worth reporting it to Apple at either of the following places:
