A2DP for BB Pearl

I was under the impression that A2DP support is included in Bluetooth 2.0.  However I just bought a BB Pearl 8100, which I believe comes with Bluetooth 2.0, but it does not seem to support A2DP.  I'm not all that familiar with the lingo on these protocols, so perhaps not everything I'm saying makes sense.
What do I look for in a phone (or model) to determine if it supports A2DP?  Is it possible that a software upgrade to my existing phone (whether available from RIM now or some time in the future) could add this functionality?

You're right A2DP is not supported with current OS release for Pearl 8100.

  • ALLTEL just released ver 4.5 for the Pearl

I see Alltel just released the 4.5 for the pearl, you can find it at software.alltel.com
I have told my friends about this and it seems to make MMS work.

and for the most part, the memory issue seems to be a lot more stable.  looks like I consistently have around 15-14 megs free so I'm pretty happy about that.  Still doing a stress test to see how it goes.

  • Mapping software/website for 8120 Pearl

Hi, I'm wondering what the best mapping software or website is for the 8120 Pearl.  I'm talking about something like a Google maps application, I don't need GPS.  I do have the Google maps mobile software but it requires A LOT of data transfer.  Is there anything else out there that is less data-intensive and has good coverage in Canada?  Thanks a lot.

Most of them require GPS. Google Maps is a good one that doesn't, as it allows the cell tower location service to find you.
    Have you tried BlackBerry Maps?

  • Question for the Pearl 8110

I have the Pearl and I love it.  But I'm new to the blackberry, and I have one question so far.  Is there a way to get some kind of notification when a call has been dropped?  I find myself saying "hello" a few times before I look at my phone and see the homescreen.  A beep or a vibrate or something would be nice to notify me, but I just didn't know if maybe I was overlooking it somewhere.  Does anyone know how to do this, or is this even an option on this phone?

I don't believe there is any option for that, never seen it.
Sorry, I couldn't be carrying better news!

  • What to do when your address book disapears. For Blackberry Pearl.

I went nuts when this happened to me. Not that I didn't have a back-up, you should ALWAYS have a
back-up of all your info. I knew that all my contact info was still there, because when someone called or
when I called someone on my address book, all their information still came up on my phone. So I knew it
was all there, but when I went to the address book itself, there was nothing there, and it simply said there
were no contacts. I even added a new one, and that was not showing up in the address book either. VERY
frustrating. So I called My service provider and begged for help. Being a new black berry user, I didn't
know squat about what to do, and I couldn't find anything online that helped me to fix this problem. So, if
this happens to you, (which I am told it happens to people a lot), Here's what you do to fix it....
First you make sure you have a back-up copy of all your backberry info using your blackberry desk top
program. after that, make sure that you blackberry is disconnected from your computer. Then go to the
options on your main menu, click the trackball. Then go to the Security Options menu, click the trackball.
Select General Settings, click the trackball. Now press the balackberry menu key on the left of the
trackball. Select Wipe handheld, click the trackball. Ok, I know thes sounds a little scarry, but trust me it
will all be ok. Once it resets everything your pnone wont work and it is going to look like all your info is
gone, but that's ok. Now go through the setup wizard like you did when you first got your blackberry to set
it all up. you don't have to add in all your info or setup all your emails, you can re-enter all your info later,
and the emails will automatically be re-setup when we are all done. Now To get all your stuff back on the
phone, connect the blackberry up to your computer, and go to your blackberry desk top program. In the
desk top program, go to back-up and restore and restore your most recent back-up. Now click the
blackberry menu on the left of the trackball, select register now, click the trackball. Go to the options
menu, click the trackball. Go to advanced options, click the trackball. look on the next menu for Host
Routing Table, click the trackball.  Now with your blackberry dial *228 and select option (1), to get your
phone in service again.   Now go online and go to: (http://www.blackberry.com/go/vzw), make sure you
have your blackberry.com password and user name and your blackberry pin number. If the user name and
password you have do not work, than unfortunately you'll have to call your service provider to help you
with that. For Verizon, the number to call is: 1-800-922-0204. It's best if you do not call them from your
blackberry. Now what you want to make sure is that you have all your email passwords etc. Now from
here, you can either have your service provider send to your phone the Service Books, or you can just get
the info for the website I gave so that you can log onto it and send the Service Books to your blackberry
on your own. If you have your service provider help you, this is where you'll need your email passwords,
because before you send the Service Books to your blackberry you'll need to revalidate all your emails
accounts by clicking on the red symbol on the left, and it will ask for your passwords and take care of all
the rest. Once you have all your email accounts re-validated, then you can send the Service books to your
blackberry. You'll see the link on the left upper menu of the page that says Service Books, click on it and
wahlah.  Now give it about 15 seconds or so. go to your black berry. Turn it off, and back on again.
Now turn your blackberry off and on again. When it comes back on follow all the menu promptings etc.,
and bingo you got your address book back.

    Welcme to the Frums!
Sometimes when the address books disappear, a filter has gotten turned on.
Go to address book>> menu >>> filters >>> and make sure nothing is checked in either box.

  • Unlock Code For BB Pearl 8100

I recently received my BB back from my ex.  We had an account with T-Mobile, that he shut off during our separation.  I am now currently with ATT and would like to use my BB.  T-Mobile states that they can not give me the code unless I have an account with them, and told me to check with the manufacturer.  I really am not able to pay for the unlock code currently and all I can find online is sites where it is anywhere from 15-60 bucks for the unlock code.  Any one know how to get the unlock code for free??  I really appreciate the help.  Thanks so much.

Only the carrier to which the device is branded can give you the unlock code for free, and you have to have a current account with them.

  • Help and advice needed for Backberry Pearl 3G 9105

I am trying to access sms messages that i have received but did not reply to, i know the folder but there are other sms messages missing that i have saved?
Also how can i copy the sms saved messages folder to some where else like faourites?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

    You can't move "that" folder.
But do you currently have your SMS messages as a part of the overall main Messages folder?
If you want to move THOSE to a separate SMS folder... Go to your main Messages folder and select Options > Inbox Management > and UNcheck the "Text Messages" options to create a disinct folder for SMS.

  • Better music player for pearl? & app sites

is there a better and free music player for the pearl than the one that comes installed? theres really nothing wrong with it, but would be nice to have options, like an equalizer for instance! also while im at it, Im new to the BB scene. would someone mind posting a couple websites that offers free and decently priced apps/games? Im not a big fan of just googling stuff like that, Id prefer word of mouth sites from ppl that have used them and are reliable. thanx!

  • Pearl in Palm app is showing up in my apps, but I never downloaded it intentioanlly. Now I am being charged 9.99 and 2.97 for an app I do not or never did want. What can I do?

    Please help?

I received an email today that a purchase was made on my itunes account. Since I was at work, I was a bit concerned. I changed my iTunes password immediately, then when I got home tonight I launched iTunes to view my purchase history.
An app was purchased for free, "Pearl-in-Palm Inf...".
Followed by three In-App purchases each called "Pearl-in-Palm Inf..." for a total of $49.97!
Took me forever to try to find a way to contact Apple. Waiting to hear back from them and hopefully get refunded that amount. Better yet, I hope they put a stop to what ever is allowing someone to steal my money.
