A2DP on e61?

Does the e61 use/support A2DP for playing music over BT?

Unfortunately you need the AD-46 accessory which is basically an additional lead with a standard 3.5mm plug on one end. I believe it also doubles as a micrphone so you can make calls as well - not ideal.

  • Does the E61 have the A2DP stereo music bluetooth ...

    Hi all
I am buying a s/h E61 which apparently has bluetooth v 1.2 - I wonder if the E61 has the A2DP stereo music bluetooth profile so I can use my SonyE stereo bluetooth earphones with it and also do bluetooth audio streaming to my bluetooth v2.0 enabled laptop (as I can with a couple of bluetooth phones I already have).
    Thanks,
    Allan

Hmmm the E61 doesn't have the A2DP or music streaming profiles (that work with the PC) - nor can it even be usd as a bletooth remote - since there's no HID profile
It plays mono when used with my stereo bluetooth headphones so I use a single 'hands free' bluetooth earpiece headset for streaming audio (in mono) by bluetooth. It can't stream music to the PC at all by bluetooth (despite connecting to my PCs headset profile). The E61 came with a single earpiece wired headphone set (HS-5) and I then seperately bought a set of stereo wired headphones (HS-23). While the stereo sound through these is reasonable, it does mean trailing wires. In all other respects I love the E61 - but its poor bluetooth facilities mean that I will be buying an E75 also soon. The E75 does have version 2.0 bluetooth with A2DP stereo streaming. It also has two cameras and does video calling (properly) and also has A-GPS and HSDPA 3.5G and more memory and takes microSD cards up to 16GB. The E61 is a great phone still in all other respects.

  • Will there be A2DP support for E61?

hi, just hoping Nokia Staff will answer this.....

this topic seems to get completely ingnored by the nokia developers... =(
i'd as well so much would like to know if the a2dp profile will ever get implemented for current e- and/or n- series since lots of other manufacturers already fully support stereo streaming over bluetooth (a2dp) and audio video remote control profile (avrcp), namely motorola, samsung and a few others. i can't image that nokia as a superb manufacturer of state of the art phones is going behind this development for long... (the models 8800 and 8801 aleady seem it support it with firmware > 3.6 so maybe it'S just a matter of time...)
but since the e61 (as far as i know) is 'only' equipped with bluetooth 1.2 and not 2.0 edr i am not sure if it's possible to get a2dp working at all. but hopefully there 'll be a way to get it going...
it would be so helpful if any statements from nokia-insiders could be made regarding this topic...

  • E61 : Wish list for the next FW update

Since I have E61 with me right now, I am talking from this perspective. Many of these will be applicable for other S60 devices too.
    1) Moving from Nokia 7250, I miss 'birth year' in E61's anniversary calendar events. This should be included in next update.
    2) There is practically no use of Birth dates in Contacts when it is not liked to Calendar for auto reminding.
    3) Alarm is too primitive. It needs to be recurring.
    4) With FW 2.06x, sms/email font is set to bold. Okay. But few of us like me still want the previous font. This should be customizable.
    5) What's the point of 1 minute audio recording restriction?
    6) Option to selectively backup/restore (like contacts only, calendar only) other than whole thing from Memory/Phone.
    7) Volume UP/DOWN physical buttons customizable and assignable to text page scrolling, contacts scrolling etc.
    8) POP email sync time should be fully customizable (remove minimum limit of 30 minutes). The major reason why I bought E61 is for messaging and 30 minutes sync is a joke.
    9) BT PAN profile is just software based (as far as I think). Its never bad to have additional option open.
    10) A2DP is also software based. If this doesn't complicate your marketing plans, why not include this as a special bonus?

You've got to be kidding, noway. As you could imagine next fw update will be out around April 2007, by this time there will be new models with the same bugs, after Jan 2007 you'll be able to get a much better phone from Apple. Don't even think that Nokia will add new feautures in the fw, no way. The whole features that you wrote will take them to develop forever, like MS makes Vista. Never ending story.

  • Unable to Play E61 Video

    Hi,
My E61 cant play video with resolution 640×480 which is recorded with Nokia 6280. Also it cant play the streaming video from internet, like BBC and liputan6 (indonesian tv)
    Anybody can help?
    Thank you in advance

I upgraded to the latest firmware available (3.0633.09.04) and the same thing still exist.
It's a shame that this high end business phone can't play the file recorded by such a low end S40 phone like 6280. You can try those website (www.bbc.com & www.liputan6.com) to play the streaming video (just to make u sure about this fact)
It seems the wifi ability was almost useless to me as I cant enjoy the news on my phone, actually this is one of the big reason for me to buy this e61.
Again, I hope nokia will have a positive response to solve this problem, as I believe it's not a big deal for nokia to make it happen.
    Thanks

  • How do I pair my Bluetooth Headset with laptop ( Win 8) . Speaker is A2DP supported

Hi - I have a Lenovo T440P and I was able to install my Bose Bluetooth speaker. But it doesn't play through them even though it shows Speakers as the default audio device. I called up Bose and they told me to check and install A2DP bluetooth drivers. Can someone help me get the required drivers. Thanks

  • [Solved] Bluetooth A2DP source to pulseaudio OR ALSA

    Edit
So, I'm happy to say that I have it working to some degree!
I wasn't happy with the default bluez tools, but I managed to find a useful set of tools which seemed to work better: http://gitorious.org/bluez-tools/bluez-tools/
I compiled and make'd them, then created the following startup script to set up everything in the order it is needed for the next part to work: https://gist.github.com/c990e397388bd4399a15
I made a file called bluetoothPin in the home directory with the following in it:
    <My phone's MAC (without the angle brackets)> <A Pin Number>
The bt-agent command in the startup.sh script uses that file to authorise connections. I aim to modify it to allow any connection to connect with the same pin, I'll get into that later.
For the actual streaming, I installed qt so I could get the qdbus binary, then I followed the instructions here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? … st10492742
That code worked, so I modified it a little so that it would wait for a connection, then make the connection, then wait for a new connection on disconnect: https://gist.github.com/8e32a9cf786995c00f2f
It's not perfect; things get a bit iffy when you try to pair and then connect a device without rebooting the pi: It disconnects gracefully, and it pairs correctly, but pulse doesn't seem to re-add it to its list, so it's no longer identified by my script. Also I haven't figured out how to pair any device against the same pin code yet. Any help with that would be awesome!
    Hi there,
I'm trying to build a bluetooth audio receiver server for my car! I have a raspberry pi with arch installed on it, bluez set up and configured (I can pair my phone with it through the bluez-simple-agent, although I think I'll have to write my own pairing daemon to auto-pair anything that attempts to connect).
Baby steps though: I've got bluez all set up as I mentioned earlier, but pulse doesn't seem to "see" the bluetooth connection. I'm not sure exactly what information you guys need to help me, but I've tried to add everything I could think of:

    About my project in general:
I want to be able to do the following:
    - Give pulseaudio access to the bluetooth device, and use the A2DP protocol to receive the audio. From my research, it is possible, but I'm not sure how.
    - Open up bluez so that I can pair any device by connecting with "1234" for the auth, then it will automatically check for A2DP and give that information to pulse
The idea being that any bluetooth device can pair without any interaction from the raspberry pi, and then pulse will have access to all of the devices which are playing music.
    1] Is this even possible?
2] Can I use alsa instead as it seems it'd be easier/lighter to manage?
3] Are there any documents other than arch's bluetooth and pulse wikis that I can read to help me figure this out?

Actually I've solved it myself by looking at the wiki page I posted.
I am not sure about what you said but PulseAudio doesn't require ALSA (alsa-lib, alsa-utils, sort of) to play sound except when with those applications that do not have direct support (now even Flash have that). But maybe the drivers for sound cards in Linux kernel could be said as a part of ALSA, then I am not sure about those stuff.

  • Two programs open on E61?

    Hi,
this sounds like - well, it is a very trivial question: It is obviously possible on the E61 to open more than one application at the same time. But I don´t seem to be able to do it: I want to open an Excel file that shows on which days I am here. Parallel to that, I want to open the calendar and enter the cultural events that take place in my city on those days.
Of course, the whole thing would be much easier to accomplish on the PC in Outlook from where I could synchronize all into my mobile, but that´s not the point - how to I open the calendar while keeping open the Excel sheet?
When I open that one first and then press the left-bottom button to return at once to the standby screen, the Excel sheet is closed.
    Thank you very much!

Needless to say, it works. Great.
The odds are I won´t have this mobile too long anymore because I´ll have a company mobile some time this summer, but knowing how to handle things is never wrong.

  • HT3563 How do I change a bluetooth profile on my macbook pro from headset to headphone (a2dp) audio only so it will not conflict in my multipoint stereo headset shared with my iphone.

I have a LG HBS-700 bluetooth stereo headset and "in order to access Multi-Connection mode, at least one of the two devices you are trying to connect to the HBS-700 must be able to select a profile, OR one of the two devices must only support one profile (Either Headset/Hands-Free or A2DP/AVRCP). For example: Two handsets which support both the Headset/Hands-Free and A2DP/AVRCP profiles cannot be connected to the HBS-700 simultaneously. But, one handset supporting Headset/Hands-Free/A2DP/AVRCP and a Bluetooth Stereo Dongle supporting only A2DP/AVRCP is OK".

Backup your computer. You may have to replace the HD.
    Try repairing  disk.

  • HP integrated bluetooth module in Pavilion dv7-2173cl Entertainment Notebook PC support A2DP?

Is my 2009 internal bluetooth module out of date?  Can I upgrade?
I can connect an external bluetooth speaker, but windows is unable to find drivers.  According to HP.com, the drivers are up to date.  The icon for the speaker shows up in Devices and Printers window, but with a yellow error triangle.  It seems pairing is successful up to a point; I just can't use the bluetooth peripheral.  I know I can buy an external usb dongle that may or may not work, but I want don't want to have another external usb dongle as I have one for a mouse.

    SillyBilly1,
Sorry for not replying to the second part of your post.
I didn't notice it until after I hit post and then I had to do some research and there is not much documentation which devices are A2DP.
From talking to people, your laptop Bluetooth will support the A2DP.
The device that you are trying to connect the laptop will be what has the restriction on it.
Let me know how everything goes.

  • Error message when trying to recover HD: PXE-E61 Media test failure

Hi all, new to forums, lots of good info and support here.
Got the BSOD last week.  Have been trying all of the various fixes mentioned on the board, to no avail. I went back multiple pages looking for alternatives to try.   After stepping away for a few days, I got farther today than I did when I was frustrated.  F12, chose to boot HDD, and got the following LOOPING error message:
PXE-E61 Media test failure check cable
    PXR-MDF exiting PXE rom
Which gives me hope that I may not have to replace my hard drive.
I have a satellite L455-5975, and have ordered recovery disc from acclaim ('0' option didn't work for me, which makes me wonder if Toshiba time limits that support, but that's off topic)
So it looks to me like my RealTek Ethernet Controller might be the problem?  Any thoughts or suggestions?  Anything I can do or should I wait for recovery disk to arrive? I worry that the recovery disk isn't going to do what I need.   Do I need to replace the ethernet controller, or is this a sign of a hard drive issue?  I consider myself 'fairly' tech savvy, but I've never taken a computer apart/put one together myself.  It would definitely cost less for me to replace HD myself than putting it in the shop.  So I'm willing to try that option if need be.
I appreciate any help/support!  Reading some of the previous posts make me wonder if rather than investing more money in the satellite, if I shouldn't instead be saving up to buy a new(er) model.

    Creedym...
I have a very similar problem with my mini-notebook model NB305.
I'm getting the same message and can't get past F2 or F12.
Bottom line; I ordered the recovery data from Toshiba on-line by model number ---not by type. They sent two DVDs. My unit doesn't have an optical drive.
First call to "John"---yes, you can copy the data to a thumb drive and use that.
Almost two hours of transferring --- the NB305 did not respond to the thumb drive.
Second call to "Paul". After some consultation on his part with someone else he told me that they don't make a thumbdrive (USB) recovery disk for my model, that's why I received two DVDs. ! I would have take it to a shop where they etc...
I haven't decided what to do next. Maybe purchase an external drive rather than take it to a repair shop where it will probably cost more than buying an inexpensive external drive.

  • Portege R400 - A2DP profile is not working using BT Stack 5.10.12

    Hi,
I am trying to get my Toshiba R400 connected to the Logitech Wireless Music station. I can find the device, but while pairing, it says something like error while connecting with remote device, please try again. It doesn't ask for a passkey unlike my pda, where pairing works just fine.
This only happens with A2DP profile, using headset profile, the stack ask me to push a button on my headset to confirm that everything is working. But there is no button to confirm on a media receiver. It's not really a headset. So I'm stuck hearing the ringing sound but no way to confirm. I don't want to use that profile anyway because I want to stream music, so I wanted to try it with a different stack. But how do I do that? When I uninstall the stack, everything "bluetooth" is gone in the device manager. I can't the device at all.
I'm using Vista Ultimate 32Bit and the BT Stack 5.10.12. It would be great if someone can tell me.
    Thanks!

What you can try is to check the following setting:
Right-mouse-click on the Bluetooth systray icon -> Options...->Security-> Custom Level->Mode: Link level enforced security
Try setup again. You can switch back to Standard security if your setup was successful.

  • IPhone 4S and iPhone 5 Running iOS 6.0.1 and A2DP audio streaming on a 2012 Lexus RX350 (Factory Car Stereo)

    Hello Everyone,
Before the release of iOS6 and the iPhone 5, I was able to use the A2DP audio streaming on my car no problems and I was really a happy camper, when upgraded my iPhone 4S to the iPhone 5 (Which came already with iOS6) that funtionality did not work any more, I reconnected my iPhone 4s running iOS 5.1.1 and worked like a charm, then I thought my brand new iPhone has bluetooth problem , that same night (Release data iPhone 5 and iOS 6), I update my iPhone 4S and prepare it to give it to my wife, then It occured to me to go and test the phone back on the car but now Running iOS 6 and "viola", the phone did not stream audio via A2DP. So yesterday Apple Release a minor update for iOS (6.0.1) and after reading the release notes (which it did not say anything Bluetooth enhancements) and updating my iPhone, went and try to test again the phone and did not work. (No A2DP audio streaming), Definatelly there is a problem, I called iOS Tech support and open a Case.  Here are the screenshots for the iphone and car stereo.
    Iphone:
    Car Stereo:
Phone (Voice Feature) works fine with the car.
This happens when trying to Connect the phone manually.
If anyone had this problem in the past and solved, please let us know.
    Thanks
    Rommel J. Jimenez

I had this problem with my iPhone 4 after upgrading to ios 6.0 (10A403).  I called apple support and was given a fix for my problem.  The Apple support rep had me do a reset on my Iphone.  The iPhone then worked with streaming music through bluetooth to my Lexus and also now works with the usb tether.  I did not have to delete the pairing, but that certainly wont hurt.

  • Bluetooth devices can't reconnect to iPhone 4 after some time or when A2DP playback has stopped (since iOS 5)

    Hi,
so I've had these Bluetooth issues since I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5. I've searched and searched and found nothing, so finally I decided to post my story here.
First of all I'd like to point out: I've tried everything! ..but more on this below.
I have a Bluetooth capable car stereo, the Sony BT2600, in my car. It works like a charm and I've been using it for listening to music via A2DP (Bluetooth Stereo Audio) since I updated my HTC Prophet to Windows Mobile 6 back in 2008. Since 2009 I've been using it with an iPhone 3G, then a 3GS, and finally with my iPhone 4, which I've owned since october 2010.
Calling worked, listening to music worked, and since iOS 3, I think, AVRCP has been working fine, too.
Now to the things that worked until before the iOS 5 update:
When I got into my car, turned on the ignition, the car stereo automatically tries to connect to the last connected device, so unless BT was disabled on the iPhone, it connected without problems and I could start music playback by pressing the Play/Pause button on the unit, without having to pull the iPhone out of my pocket.
When I got out of my car, turned the ignition, and thus, the car stereo, off, the iPhone would of course disconnect.
Here's where it becomes interesting: When I would go for another drive in my car, the head unit would reconnect to the iPhone, just as in the first point of this list.
Same when starting the car's engine, which cuts the power to the head unit for one second. It would automatically reconnect to the phone and I could press the Play/Pause button twice to resume playback.
Furthermore, when Repeat was not enabled on the iPhone's iPod application and the current album / playlist / podcast would end, the Bluetooth connection would remain active, which was good, because I would still be able to receive calls using the hands-free functionality of the Sony head unit, and I could restart playback by pressing the Play/Pause button on the latter.
My Apple aluminum Wireless Keyboard would also connect flawlessly whenever BT was enabled on the iPhone.
Also the Bluetooth tethering feature would work fine - I could just connect to it via my MacBook's Bluetooth menu, without having to do anything with the iPhone.
Since I updated to iOS 5,
my car stereo doesn't connect to the iPhone unless it's been less than a minute that I'd enabled Bluetooth on the iPhone.
    same with the keyboard.
When music playback stops (at the end of an album/playlist/podcast, with Repeat disabled), the whole Bluetooth connection is instantly lost, and can't be regained until I disable and re-enable Bluetooth on the iPhone. Which means that I can't take calls in my car after listening to an album or podcast or playlist when I forget to enable Repeat.
Whenever I have to re-start my car's engine, the connection is, in more than half of the cases, lost until disabling and re-enabling BT on the iPhone.
    Same with tethering.
    What I've tried so far:
deleted all BT devices from the iPhone's list, re-paired - nothing
rebooted, many, many times - nothing
restored to iOS 5.0.1 - nothing
hit "Reset Network Preferences" - nothing, the BT devices even stay in the list
hit "Delete All Settings" on the iPhone - nothing, BT device list still the same
restored to 5.0.1 again - nothing
restored to iOS 5.1 - nothing
restored to iOS 5.1 from DFU mode, setting up the iPhone "as new iPhone". Big step, PITA, but still - nothing. At least this has cleared the BT device list. But the issues remain. (So does the battery drain issue, by the way, but that's another story)
So. I've oficially run out of ideas. Any inspiration? Many thanks in advance.

I've noticed this lately as well, with my iPhone 4. I couldn't confidently pin it directly on any particular iOS update, but my iPhone used to automatically connect up via Bluetooth with my Prius's handsfree feature, and now it doesn't. I work with a CE-based device at my job, with Bluetooth capability, and I used to test out that feature by having it discover my iPhone. This no longer works either.
What I have found (not really a solution, but it does work and may be a clue for Apple) is that if I simply go to the Settings app then the General -> Bluetooth screen and let it sit there, it will pair right up with my car within a few seconds. Bluetooth is always on, and always says "Now Discoverable" at the bottom of the settings screen.
