A2DP support for 8800

I have a 8800 smartphone with software version V4.5.0.37 (platform 2.7.0.55).
I bought a bluetooth stereo headset which is A2DP enabled. I am not able to use this with my mobile.
Any support/suggestions?

One notable missing capability is support for the A2DP Bluetooth profile for stereo headphones, although the device does support mono Bluetooth headphones for use with the phone. RIM says support for A2DP will be added in a future software update. Until that happens, to get the most out of your music, you'll need wired headphones with a relatively uncommon 2.5-mm headphone jack or to use an adapter with your regular wired headphones. All in all, the media capabilities feel like a half-hearted add-on to this device.

  • No A2DP support for Nokia N80!

I just wonder why Nokia can't add support for A2DP in the new firmware for Nokia N80ie cellphone. =(
I just uppdatet my phone in hope of getting somewhere, but it was pointless.
It would be pretty nice if i could use my N80 as a real media centre with my Jabra BT 620s bluetooth headset but no way.
I am just intrested why not, i have read som discussions in this forum and other N phones did get their uppdates with A2DP support . Or am i wrong. Am i doing somethig wrong and cant get this to work?

A2DP and AVRCP does not require additional hardware for bluetooth 1.2 and above. It is based purely on software simulation.
Nokia can support A2DP in nokia n80. but battery could be an issue. Initial prototype of N80 had bluetooth 2 but then it was downgraded to 1.2 !!!

  • A2DP Support for Nokia ASHA

I am so disappointed by the recent Nokia ASHA phones with keypads (non-touchscreens). I could not believe that none of these phones supported A2dp, and what's baffling is that most websites and blog sites would say that these phones would have A2DP support, but it really does not have. I have a Philips SHB 9100 bluetooth stereo headset, and it's disappointing that I wasted money in buying these two phones below:
    1. I bought Nokia 112. It's a great small classic phone that is not fancy looking. It has bluetooth 2.1, edge, and dual sim. But even though it has bluetooth, it doesn't support A2dp. I sold Nokia 112 for 40% less it's original price, even though I bought it on the same day.
    2. . I then bought NOKIA ASHA 206, hoping that this will have A2dp, but it doesn't have! I'm surprised. So I sold it too.
    3. I decided to check on Nokia Asha 202 before buying it, but I'm surprised it also doesn't have A2dp.
Are there still basic phones out there that support A2dp? I have a Nokia Xpress Music 5320, it's small and it has A2dp!

    The Nokia 301 supports A2DP 1.2

  • Will there be A2DP support for E61?

hi, just hoping Nokia Staff will answer this.....

this topic seems to get completely ingnored by the nokia developers... =(
i'd as well so much would like to know if the a2dp profile will ever get implemented for current e- and/or n- series since lots of other manufacturers already fully support stereo streaming over bluetooth (a2dp) and audio video remote control profile (avrcp), namely motorola, samsung and a few others. i can't image that nokia as a superb manufacturer of state of the art phones is going behind this development for long... (the models 8800 and 8801 aleady seem it support it with firmware > 3.6 so maybe it'S just a matter of time...)
but since the e61 (as far as i know) is 'only' equipped with bluetooth 1.2 and not 2.0 edr i am not sure if it's possible to get a2dp working at all. but hopefully there 'll be a way to get it going...
it would be so helpful if any statements from nokia-insiders could be made regarding this topic...

  • A2DP support for Stereo Headphones

Does anyone know if Apple will be supporting A2DP in the near future for the Iphone?

Anyone that wants A2DP to become a feature of the IPhone needs to send a feature request using this URL, http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html, to request it.

  • Does A2DP support in leopard mean A2DP driver for Vista on MBP?

Would love to have A2DP bluetooth support for my MBP, and I know it's coming next month. Also next month in leopard is the official release of Boot camp and therefore I should imagine a full bunch of windows drivers for the MBP. My question is, if they are bunging A2DP support into leopard do you think the bluetooth drivers written for windows will also include it? I mainly run Vista on my MBP (not out of choice, but you try getting Visual Studio to run on OSX).

  • When will AT&T support OS v4.5 for 8800 devices?

Anyone have any news on this?  As far as I can figure out, AT&T only supports v4.2 for 8800 devices.  At least, Blackberry.com lists my 8820 as unsupported for v4.5, and at&t only offers the v4.2.
I'm looking at A&T downloads here:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=577BCC914F9E55D5E4E4F82F9F00E7D4
and I checked to see if my device was supported here:

    thanks!
    Solved!

Yes it will work. OS 4.5 has been out for the 8800 model from other carriers for a few months. Read the thread I sent you to, the first post explains it all, the directions, etc. Removing ONE file from the PC after the OS installation to the PC is they key.
ATT doesn't care. If you every need warranty support (until they don't release OS 4.5, all you need to do is downgrade the device back OS 4.2.

  • Apt-x Support for Bluetooth A2DP?

    Hi,
are there any plans to support the apt-X codec for the Bluetooth A2DP Profile? Maybe that could solve some of the bad A2DP audio qualitiy issues, that are still expierienced by some users (including me) on all the available phones (tested Pre- with 1.4.5, Pre+ with 1.4.5 and 2.1, Pixi Plus with 1.4.5, Pre2 with 2.0 and 2.1, all gave the same issues with different headsets and receivers!).
apt-X seems to be coming quite fast, not only because apple has built in support for it in it's latest products, but also because it offers CD level quality on low encoding cost, which is MUCH more than the poor SBC codec can deliver.
I hope HP with it's Beat audio line of products will consider adding such enhanced A2DP codecs to the mobile devices... wireless headsets are so much more convinient than anything wired can be. But at the momen A2DP sound quality is unbearable with my Palm handsets and I still have no clue where that issue arises from (my last guess is, that it's connected to me being an european costumer and we are few compared to the majority of the us costumers. As far as I understood there are differences in the radio part of the handsets between EU and US devices, so maybe those differences break A2DP Bluetooth quality).
Post relates to: Pre Plus p100ueu (Vodafone)

Thanks for all of the replies. I also saw in the Z white paper that the apt-X codec is not listed, so the question becomes "can apt-X be pushed via a software update?"
For those interested in streaming to your home stereo or powered speaker, here's what I ended up doing.
Purchased a Rocketfish Bluetooth Music Receiver from Best Buy (in the US). It is a pretty slick lttle device, about the same size as the power plug adaptor and it supports A2DP and apt-X. There are two audio outputs: analog via a headphone jack and optical. And it ships with a 6' 3.5mm stereo audio cable and a  RCA adaptor.
Setup was easy. Connect the audio to the stereo's AUX inputs, set the stereo's source to AUX, plug in the BT receiver power, turn on the tablet Bluetooth on the tablet and play music.
At first the sound was pretty compressed from MP3's, Pandora and the Google Play service. The fix was to go into the Google Play app > settings > equalizer. Click on "surround sound" and change the setting from "headphone" to "studio".Then play with the equalizer settings to tweak. Results in much improved audio.
Happy camper now... music streaming through the house and no wires!

  • Bluetooth A2DP profile for Tiger?

I am looking to get a wireless headset to game with for my MacBook Pro - with Bluetooth built in, I figure this is the way to go.
My research so far has shown that bluetooth stereo headsets with microphones are available, but they require the A2DP Bluetooth protocol. Most sites mention OS X doens't support it, but they are also backdated several months.
Can anyone confirm if the latest version of Tiger supports A2DP, and / or if support for it will be included in future releases or updates of OS X?
    Thank you!
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Joseph, thanks for the post. I'm a Joseph too, must have been fate I found your post. I was very stoked about the iTouch being able to use for Skype. Skype has a section at their site about how it's doable. I have the 3.0 ver on my Touch. I just tried to pair my jawbone to the touch, but no luck. yet, I was at the Apple store yesterday and in a group, including staff, discussing using Skype on the Touch. The staff was telling us the Jawbone & their $79 Platronics would work. I already have a jawbone for my cell phone, but the Touch, when Bluetooth is on, doesn't even find the jawbone device. So, I'm not sure what's next. I'll try the headset you noted.
    Thanks for your post.

  • Still no A2DP support in 10.4.7?

Am I wrong or is there still no A2DP-Bluetooth support for hifi stereo sound in the latest OS X update 10.4.7?
I just updated and couldn't see a matching profile.
This would not be just disappointing - this feature is a built-in MUST for my next laptop.
Maybe Apple thinks we will buy more Ipods or Airport-AP's if they don't include it.
Well, in my case, they will sell one Macbook-Pro less..
    G4PB

I totally agree! I have been patiently waiting for some kind of support for headphones with A2DP. I own the iogear GBMHKIT bluetooth headphone/mic. OSX finds the headphones, allows me to set it up with passkey 0000, it shows up in both input/output pages of the Sound control panel. I can even hear the blip blip blip of the volume slider in the control panel when it successfully pairs. As soon as I try to use any program that uses audio, not only does the sound not play through the headphones, but it locks up the computer and the headphones? Since there is no on/off button on the headphones, there is no way to turn them off?!? I have to wait until the batteries die before I can regain functionality. I also have to hold down the power button on my mac to force it off.
Come on now Apple! Why the heck do you tease with this?
PLEASE add headphone support for A2DP and the Iogear line of headphones. (which pairs with my pc just fine)

  • A2DP Support

I am new to this forum so excuse my ignorance. I purchased a stereo headset motorola s9 before I realized that the iphone will not support A2DP yet. One of the reasons I bought the phone. The motorola will not play music over the headset. I have found a work around with a sony bluetooth adapter. The adapter of course takes battery power from the phone and the volume levels are what I would consider marginal. Does anyone know when or if apple plans on supporting A2DP and when? I paid good money for the phone and now for the adapters, headset, ect... and really think a legitimate answer wouldn't be too much to ask.

    Welcome to the forums!
Unfortunately, as we are all end users here there is no way for anyone to know when or if Apple plans to implement A2DP support on the iPhone. Apple never comments to these posts so the answer you won't get the answer you seek here. Likewise, Apple rarely announces feature enhancements before an upgrade so it is unlikely you will get an answer from them either.
While I understand your frustration about the lack of this feature, Apple never promoted the iPhone as having stereo blue tooth capabilities. The fact that you paid good money on the phone before you did a solid search of its feature set is just a lesson learned.

  • Nokia N91 8GB A2DP support 3rd Party Stereo Bluet...

    Hi...
Can Anyone confirm that does Nokia N91 8GB's A2DP(stereo Bluetooth) support 3rd Party software Stereo Bluetooth Sound? like
LCG Jukebox, Smartmovie , Power Movie etc...
    N73/N73ME A2DP does not support 3rd party apllication (LCG Jukebox,Powermoive etc)bluetooth stereo sound.But The set (N73/73ME)A2DP support only default music,video player(real player)stereo Bluetooth.
I want to know real things abt Nokia N91 8GB A2DP with 3rd party software..

I have a Nokia N73 and a Parrot MKi9000. I wanted to use the Internet Radio application to listen to streaming radio via bluetooth AD2P connection. Nokia N73 firmware updated last, supports this standard, but only for applications installed directly with the operating system: (Standard Media Player and RealPlayer).
If you start only "Internet Radio" sound does not pass through the bluetooth connection, but I noticed that also enable the media player to hear the sum of the two sounds.
The solution I found is that of creating an MP3 file of about 30 minutes with a background of ambient music very low (not too much else if there is total absence of sound, such as interruptions in the buffer, the system soon after it disconnects). I set the standard player so that will loop through the MP3 in the background.
Then I turned on the application "Internet Radio" and select the station to play. Once started streaming the music you hear on the car speakers.
I think this trick may be useful not only to listen to the radio via the internet, but also for other applications that do not activate by default bluetooth AD2P streaming and other Nokia devices, or other Bluetooth hands-free systems.
    Ciao

  • Which Stereo Bluetooth headset with remote supports for Iphone3Gs??

please anybody can tell me which is the best Stereo Bluetooth headset with remote support for Iphone3Gs??
    thanks in advance

    Hello thomulusmax,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums
As long as your device is running software version 4.2.2 or higher it supports A2DP. (You can verify this under Options >> About)
Keep in mind that not all Bluetooth headsets are A2DP enabled. As long as your headset supports A2DP and it pairs and connects with your Pearl you should be able to listen to any supported audio format.
    Cheers!

  • Anyone check A2DP support in 1.1.4?

Anyone with the Motorola S9 or similar device check out A2DP support? Thanks in advance.

Anyone who really wants to use the MotoRokr S9 BT Stereo headphones, should check out this device I purchased (Motorola TenTechnology NaviPlay). It works well with the iphone, despite having to attach a seperate device. I use it for everything including calls, and the quality is impressive both for music and calls. The trick to it is during the initial sync to the phone, then to the adapter. The best approach to using the dongle correctly for calls and music, is to 1st sync the headset to the phone for standard function. Next, plug in the adapter, answer no the the Error Message about no support, then put the device and headset in sync mode, and wait for the dongle to flash fast green. When both the phone and the device is connected to the headset, all the controls on the S9 work well. Now the next time you goto use the dongle, before connecting it turn on the S9, let it autosync to the phone, then plugin and turn on the dongle, answer no again to the error msg, and wait for the dongle to autosync to the S9. In essence, you only really need to sync the S9, iPhone and dongle once, as all 3 devices keep memory of previously synced devices, but don't forget to let the S9 sync to the phone 1st, before connecting and powering on the dongle
