A3 inkjet printer suggestions

I'm doing mostly book design at present and using an Epson Stylus Photo 2100 to proof. But because the (7) carts' are ridiculously expensive and use up ink like its got a drink problem, I'm trying to find a low-cost – consumbles that is – A3 inkjet printer. A 4-colour printer would be adequate. And, of course, a RIP (for Mac OS X) would have to be available.
Really appreciate any recommendations.

No need for real colour accuracy. It's mostly multi-page stuff – on average, around 200pp – and text plus some graphics with lots and lots of lo-res positional images (swapped out at pre-press).
This HP colour laser. Is it A3 – not quite sure what the US paper size equivalent is? What's the cost in dollars (or pounds if you happen to be posting from the UK)? Are the cartridges reasonably long-lasting?
In complete agreement about the ink sales making the manufacturers' profits. In Epson's case it's the paper as well. I can only use Epson Photo quality paper for printing out Bitmap images – other brands smear during printing.

    Hi,
    Pls follow the steps.
    1. Goto t-code SPAD. Give the o/p device number here, than display. (For eg PR01)
    2. Here in Device type, You can specify your Device whichever you would like to use. Keep the other field as per your requirement.
In sapscript driver program, follow the coding:
    data : s_itcpo type itcpo.
      s_itcpo-TDDEST = 'PR01'.   -----> Output device
      s_itcpo-tdimmed   = 'X'.
      s_itcpo-tddelete  = 'X'.

          others   = 6.
Same thing you can define for smart forms before calling a smartform.
    Is it helpful?

I recently upgraded to Mac OS 10.8.1.  I had an Epson Inkjet printer (Stylus C88 ) that had seen its better days. I purchased a refurbished model (C88+ ) to replace the old one, simple enough. Since I've done this before, I didn't think I had to install the CD. I have since discovered the CD isn't recognized on my computer and/or by this Mountain Lion system and that I had to go to Apple to upgrade the new driver for this product, and which I did, but I can't find the epson folder  other than the attached. I just want to place an alias printer logo on my desktop but I can't find it anywhere.   What to do???

Hi, one question & one suggestion...
What possible things are connected at home but not at the store, inlude every cable, etc.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Which inkjet printer is compatible with my iMac OS X version 10.8.5 computer?

Hello:  I need some help.  Which inkjet printer is compatible with my I Mac OS X version 10.8.5 computer?

    puppadee wrote:
I am confused. On the Apple KB article that you suggested, the Canon Pixma MX922 does not show that it is compatible with my computer.
It is listed. It is shown as the MX920 series, because different countries have a different name for this model (it's known as MX926 in Australia).
Are you wanting to connect the MX to your wireless network or direct to the Mac via USB cable? Either way, the supporting printer and scanner driver will be downloaded from Apple and installed on your Mac.

  • A recent problem on 1100dtn business inkjet printer attached to network

I have an HP 1100dtn business inkjet  printer Ihat is attachded to my network. I had problems with the yellow inkjet got plugged and started messing the printed colors. I played with some settings and ended up getting wat appears to be a separator page before and after most everything I print. I went back to the spot I ran and ran it again hopping to have it toggle off. I checked on settings that say separater & they appear to say no to separtor page.  Nothing seems to work. I have even disconnected it from everything and rebooted it
Is there a setting I can get to that allows me to stop this wasted paper short of replacing the whole printer with a Lazerjet?
Thank you very much in advance for any suggestions.

  • Best inkjet printer?

My trusty Epson 740 has finally taken a dump after ten loyal years of service. Any suggestions on what to replace it with? I don't do a lot of hi-res color photos. Mostly text, but I would like to be able to get good quality prints if needed. I don't need an all-in-one solution. I already have a scanner and copier. What's the best basic inkjet printer out there right now?

Just go to you local computer reseller and buy what you have budgeted. I used to work for Epson and I can tell you hands down they make the best printers for the money. But keep in mind, the cheaper the price, the more plastic parts inside which are more likely to cause you future problems or break.

  • Sharing inkjet printer to Windows XP machine

    Hi,
I have my girlfriend's Windows XP machine networked to my mac and I want her to be able to print directly to the inkjet printer plugged into my iMac. I have followed the instructions found at http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3012.html and I can print ok, the problem is that the when I print from the PC, the text looks pale and brown instead of nice and black. I am using the Apple Laserwriter 12/600 driver as suggested.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to print to a non-postscript printer at full quality?
    Thanks,
    Ben

Hmm, I read a hint that said I could share the printer by CUPS (see post about half way down this page: http://experts.about.com/q/Macintosh-OS-1063/Printing-windows-printer-Mac.htm)
The only problem is when I click add printer in the web interface it asks for a password. I don't have a password for my account but when I put in my username and leave the password blank, it fails to authenticate and just asks me to re-enter my password. Am I doing something wrong? The only other password I can think of is the one for the root account which I don't know.

  • Need the latest drivers for a Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer

I wanted to download and install the latest drivers for an HP Desket 895Cse inkjet printer but the only driver updates that are available on your website are for an HP Deskjet 895Cxi.  I've never owned an HP Deskjet 895Cxi inkjet printer; only the HP Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer.   Do these two models use the same set of drivers or does your website no longer offer updated drivers for an HP Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer?
I'm planning to address various sized envelopes for Christmas cards which I have done in the past using my older model HP Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer because my current HP printer; an HP C5280 Photosmart All In One inkjet printer will not allow me to print on odd sized greeting card envelopes; only standard sized business envelopes like a No. 10, No. 11 and a No. 12.
Last night I ordered new inkjet cartridges for my Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer; a #23 color cartridge and a #45 black cartridge; both cartridges set me back about $70.00 after applying discounts and using a promo coupon code from HP.   I spoke to someone in tech support overseas yesterday who advised me to download the most up to date drivers for my Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer before I install the new cartridges and begin to address my Christmas card envelopes; about 75 envelopes; front and back.
If there are no new drivers available for my Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer should I plan to return my new HP inkjet cartridges once I receive them because if my Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer will not allow me to print on anything unless I install the latest set of drivers for my Desket 895Cse inkjet printer and if there are no new drivers currently available on your website I might as well return my newly ordered cartidges as soon as I receive them by Fedex from HP and get my $70.00 back.   Feedback on this would certainly be appreciated.

Why doesn't the website list the latest drivers for an 895Cse?   Was the Deskjet 895Cse inkjet printer released for sale to the public before the Deskjet 895Cxi inkjet printer or visa versa?   Basically what's the difference between the 2 models?  Finally if I were to install my new cartridges which haven't arrived yet and choose not to install the drivers for the 895Cxi model will my 895Cse printer still work and be able to print?

  • Color Management, Photoshop CS3 and Epson Inkjet Printer

I have been down this road before but here goes again...
    Im using Photoshop CS3.
Im printing on an Epson Stylus Photo RX680 using Photo quality inkjet paper.
I know this printer is capable of very good quality prints.
Thing is I can not figure out the correct combination of color management settings to get a decent print out of Photoshop or InDesign.
I have read that you are supposed to turn off all printer color management and let Adobe manage the color. Doesnt seem to work.
I just get overly magenta images that look awful.
If I let the Epson color management control color I can get a lot closer but the print out is far from accurate or high quality.
So what the heck IS the correct protocol for printing to an Epson inkjet printer from an Adobe app.
BTW, I do seem to get a fairly decent print out of something like a PDF which I understand does its own postscript conversion before hitting the printer.
Is this what my issue is?
Does Photoshop or InDesign require postscript ripper software to get decent results out of an inkjet printer?

Have spent hours with both Adobe and Epson support people. I've read several of these forums. Is there an insurmountable problem with CS3 and Epson (2200/2400 are mine)? I have the Leopard patches and upgrade 10.5.4.
With Photoshop managing the color I get prints that are slightly underexposed and carry a pink cast. Color management is off. With the printer managing the color I get prints that are too green and dark. Epson advice here is to have color management off. There are two other choices for management but to adjust a perfectly balanced print to the printer's whim seem like cruel punishment.
Have a calibrated monitor and my CS2 works beautifully. Perhaps the best idea is to just go back to CS2 until Adobe and Epson can decide what to do. According to Adobe people, the CS3 gives much of the management back to Epson. According to Epson -- with CS3, you should choose the printer to manage the color (since this seems to be the trend between the two companies) but we users are not happy with the results.
What is the solution for right now?

  • HP7680 inkjet printer prints narrow blank (white) lines in multiple specific parts of page

My HP7680 inkjet printer prints narrow blank (white) lines in multiple specific parts of each printed page. It appears to happen in the same parts of each page printed.
    - I installed new ink cartridges
    - I verified that the paper I’m using is the standard inkjet paper that I always use
    - In the tools section of the printer setup menu, I ran the “Clean Printhead”, “Align Printer”, and “Calibrate Linefeed” options
    - In reading the printer’s manual, it seems to imply that the printheads could be the problem.
    - So, I manually cleaned the printhead contacts
    - When I print the self-test diagnostics page, it shows printhead health to be “Good” for both. One of them was installed in January of 2009, and the other was installed March of 2008.
    - With a Q-tip, I even cleaned the clear plastic band that runs parallel to the carriage rod. (It was pretty dirty.)
Here's a scan of the printed output.
    Thanks for your help!

After a 2hr phone call with tech support, here is the solution; the L7600 Series printer have a firmware update (file name: OfficejetProK7600_R2011PxN.exe) my printer was bought in 2008 thus my print head is a 2008 model, and new print heads are a 2011 modem, they don’t work right in a 2008 model this is PER the tech rep and his name was John unless you upgrade the firmware.
So I upgraded the firmware from a 2004NxN to the 2011PxN and now my printer says damaged or missing print head, I place the original print head from 2008 back in the machine and it’s fine, so I bought a 3rd print head for 2011 and it says the print head is damaged.
After another 30min or so I was told I have a bad printer and sorry the warranty is out, but the old print head works but any new print heads do not, this sounds like a HP Error firmware / hardware compatibility issue, not my issue, but HP will not repair.
HP has no fix nor will they repair the printer.

  • HP C5280 Photosmart All-in-One inkjet printer

I've owned my C5280 inkjet printer for almost 3 years and like my previous inkjet printer, a Deskjet 895Cse I can print different kinds of documents, envelopes, etc. but one thing I have not been able to print on are No. 6 envelopes.  For those who don't know a No. 6 envelope is slightly larger than a personal sized check.  I can print on No. 10 envelopes all day long but cannot do so on No. 6.
I called HP's tech support yesterday and spoke to a lady in India, my printer was out of warranty and she wanted to charge me a one time charge of $20.00 to try and diagnose my printing problem, I said no.  She then offered to research my printer, the C5280 to see why I could not print on No. 6 envelopes, after several minutes on hold she came back on the line and told me my printer, the C5280 would not support or allow me to print on No. 6 envelopes.  That explanation just didn't make any sense to me.
I tried to explain to her that I had an older injket printer, a Deskjet 895Cse that could and still can run circles around my current C5280 Photosmart inkjet printer when it comes to printing jobs, on my 895Cse I can print on No. 6, No. 10, No. 11, No. 12, and No. 14 business sized envelopes, I can even print on USPS Certified Mail return receipt green cards which are a pretty hard stock of paper, I can only print on No. 10 and No. 11 envelopes on my C5280.  If I can go to MS Word and create a custom sized envelope which has the dimensions of a No. 6 envelope I would think I should be able to print it but unfortunately I can't.   The tech in India then tried to sell me an HP Officejet printer which she claimed I could print on No. 6 envelopes with, a printer that sold for $399.00, was very eager to convince me to buy it, I told her no and thanked her for her time.

    Hi Stevoreno
I found a link below showing the specs for envelope printing, is this the No.6 you want?
    U.S. #6 ¾: 92 x 165 mm (3.63 x 6.5 inches)

    Does this help?

  • Prints too dark and contrasty when printing from IDCS3 to Canon IP4000 inkjet printer

I have a problem with colours when printing from IDCS3 onto a Canon IP4000 inkjet printer and Ilford Galarie smooth pearl paper. I cannot find a solution to it or maybe I am not looking for the right search terms. Maybe someone can help me here.
I am using IDCS3 on a Mac G5 PPC with 2Ghz dual processors running OS 10.4.11. I have an Eizo ColorEdge CE210w monitor which I profile regularly with a Gretag Macbeth eye-one device.
I have designed a 50 page document with about 200 images. Now when I print from IDCS3 the images are too dark and very contrasty. But when I print the same image from Photoshop CS3 the print is fine.
I have been using the canned ICC profile from Ilfords website.
The one difference was that in Photoshop I had a choice of rendering intent in the print dialogue which I set to relative colorimetric. (I have subsequently found that I have the choice of rendering intents in ID if I select each image and change the RI before I get to the print stage which can be a pain)
I would appreciate your help with this as I do not really want to redesign the layout in Photoshop all over again.
    Thank you in advance.

You can change overall rendering intents for each document under Edit/Assign Profiles.
