A3 loosing links to originals on NAS

Hi,
I store my original RAW images on a network storage device (NAS).
The NAS is mounted to my iMac via SMB.
In Aperture 3, I only maintain the references but leave the originals on the NAS.
Now the problem:
very often, I will find projects in A3, where the references are broken and I have to reconnect all pictures in a project before I can continue my work.
Although I have not lost work yet, that behavious is annoying.
What could be a reason for this problem?

just to be clear:
My Aperture Database is on the Mac, no problem here.
Only the linked master images are on the NAS.
That is one recommended way to set the system up and it works very well since several years.
Only the broken links are troublesome.
I have one explanation:
sometimes I forget to start the NAS and mount it, before starting Aperture.
In this case it is clear that the links are broken.
But after I make the NAS available to the system, the links do not "retry" and repair themselves but stay broken.

Can you package files in Premiere Pro CS6 like you do in Indesign so you don't looses links?
We are sorting out our filing system and want to be able to move files and rushes to new locations without loosing the links between them, is their a way of doing this? When using InDesign you package a file and it creates a folder of links and fonts, something like this would be useful.

Have a look at the Project Manager.

Loosing Links in Premiere Pro CS4

I copied the folders of a couple projects to a back-up drive for future use. I didn't use the Project Manager, because I copied everything related to my project within it's own self-contained folder structure. Since I copied everything "as is" from the original drive to the back-up I thought there would be no loss of links. All 3 of my project now will not load, even if I copy them back to the original drive. Note: I did recently change the drive letter to the drive the project was originally copied from. Re-linking would be very time consuming at this point. Why am I loosing links when the have not actually moved?

If your files are located on the same drive (letter) and with the exact same directory structure, relinking should not be necessary. However, if the program asks for file X, relinking is easy, just point to the file searched for and the other files will be found automatically. You may need to repeat that for other directories.

Adobe InDesign CC looses links randomly. How to correct this ?

InDesign CC looses links randomly. I need to update them regularly, and then they get lost again and so on. Hence my question: how to avoid that ?
PS: I was previously working on Indesign CS4, and never had this issue.

Basically, when i open the file, everything is fine.
1 - Then, the ‘warning’ icon appears on 1 link, then 2, until all links are lost.
2 - I then need to update these links. To do so, I select the links in the links panel, right click, and then click ‘update link’.
3 – then, after a while, links start to get lost again, so back to 1.
I have to mention that I don’t have these issues with all files, but with around 4-5 of them.
Everything was working fine when I was on CS4, it just appeared when I switched to CC.

2 )both sales order and PIR takes place in MRP planning run
2) this is where it is in mostly used in many indutries
just a small example how this strategy works
1) creat PIR for ur FERT- 100Nos
2) check in MD04- u will get PIR (VSF) as 100
3) now creat sales order for 120 for same month
4 )run MRP for that particular FERT
5) check the result in MD04, here ur PIR gets vanishied and an plan order will be generated for 120 Nos.

Logic windows loosing "link" bug?

Hello everyone,
My Logic windows are loosing their "link" ability, and I'm wondering if its a bug. In my main screenset I have 5 windows that are used: Arrange, movie as float, global mixer, event editor, and an environment window on a 2nd monitor used for selecting instruments. In my setup, I use midi instrument tracks to trigger exs instruments, and use channel splitters to select different articulations per instrument, allowing for my instrument parts to play multiple articulations on a single track.
Now, in the course of my work I consistently switch between the event editor, global mixer, environment, and arrange page, and sometimes my "link" between the environment page and my arrange page becomes dead. i.e. I can switch between tracks in my arrange page, but it no longer switches instruments in my environment page. The only solution I've found is to click on the environment to "refresh it" and then click on my arrange page, and they are now back in sync. However, it seems that once I click on the global mixer, the environment is once again out of sync with the arrange page.
Is there anyway to fix this behavior and have the environment always be in sync with the arrange page? Is this a flaw in dual monitor operation or a bug in Logic? Note: my environment uses the "pink/purple" link where my event editor uses "golden link." All windows, except my movie and transport, are non-float.
I'm guessing this is a bug, but would like to make sure. Thanks again for your help!

I figured out what I do sometimes that causes that (maybe this is what's happening to you guys - at least some of the time?). Try this:
While the song is playing, use the scrollbar to scroll ahead to a part of the song that isn't on the screen. As soon as you scroll off-screen, the Link button goes out. The song stays where you put it, but you lose the Link.
A better behavior would be that when you release the mouse, the song snaps back to where the SPL is and keeps the Link button enabled. Alternatively, the song position could stay where you left it (with the SPL finally catching up), but keep the Link button enabled. The next time you start the song, it would snap to the SPL. The way it is just doesn't work well - at least for me.

Leopard looses my connection to my NAS once a day

I have a nas hooked up to my network which I am using to host my itunes library. On average of once a day it will loose my connection to it. I can still see it in my sidebar but when i click on it, it shows the status as "connecting" and never reconnects. I then restart and it works fine again for another day or so. It works just fine on my windows box so it is not a problem with the nas. Any ideas or fixes?

When you notice it doing this, BEFORE you try to connect back up to it:
Open Terminal
netstat -an | grep -i x.x.x.x
Replace x.x.x.x with the IP address of your NAS.
See if you have any connections open to it and note their state.
Try to connect. While it is hanging, run the netstat command a few more times and check if you can see connections getting opened.
After all this (when I suspect it fails until you reboot as you mentioned), try doing a ping to the NAS and see if it responds. If it does, try connecting again.
Please post your results and we'll go from there...

Sending Color file to FCP Looses Links to Rendered Files

I have several Color files that are very similar and from the same project. All of them Send the XML file from Color to FCP beautifully, except one. What would cause the Color export to FCP loose the connections to the rendered files and revert back to the R3D files?

I had the same issue with one of my projects recenty.
The only solution seems to reconnect at FCP each clip with the equivalent in the 'Color renders' directory, the XML keeps the original names and looses the rendered clips paths. I hope Apple can correct this bug of they are able to reproduce it as it happened to us.

Why does Encore keep loosing links?????

If I transcode a file from withon Enocre 5.5 before I build a project, EVERY time I close the project, the next time open it it loses all the links to the transcoded files. Does this happen to everyone. I have created several new projects and it ALWAYS happens. Does this happen to everyone? Anyone found a fix for it?

Forgot to ask; what version of Encore?
The Mac equivalent may have been to create a new administrator account and try it from there.
This does not apply to your symptom directly, but does address the loggin in with adminstrator privilges, and creating a new adminstrator account has been a workaround/troubleshooting test.

Quicktime Export looses links and controls

Hello, I've done a little keynote presentation with only 4 slides, the first page is the intro with 2 links, the first link takes you to slide #2 where I have a little quicktime movie in mp4, there are 2 more links on the bottom, one takes you to the intro page and the other one takes you to slide #3 where I have some text that I've typed.
I click the play button on keynote and everything works fine, 100%.
After I export the job to quicktime I get a .mov, I open it and the intro looks fine, I click on the link that takes me to page #2 where I have my video and the controls are missing, so it doesn't look as it did in the preview.
When I click on the link that takes me to the intro something weird happens and automatically the slide goes back to the video.
If I click to go to the 3rd page with the text it does the same thing.
If on the intro page I avoid to click the link for the video page, and I click the link that takes me to page #3 with the text everything works fine.
The presets for quicktime are Manual Advance and Full Quality Large and Include Audio etc...
Is this a bug or I'm doing something wrong?
ps. if I export the same exact job but without the video all the links work fine.

QuickTime Pro can't export audio from muxed track formats (MPEG 1 or 2 and Flash).
If the file "plays" using QT Player you can use Pro to save it in a .mov "wrapper" and it will play as intended but will not reduce in file size.
You could export the video portion of the .swf format but it will probably increase in file size (even at smaller dimensions). You could also use a tool like WireTap to "record" the audio and add it back into the QT Pro export.

HTML panel looses link to .jsx

Hi
If I open in photoshop any two panels that use HTML and external .jsx files, the last one I opened works, but the first one losses the link with its .jsx file.
This happens with the HTML sample panel too.
I get this error
File does not exist: HTML/utils/utilities.jsx or invalid script file.
Is there a way to fix that?

Documents loosing links over network to server

BACKGROUND
We are working in CS4.
Running Mac OS 10.6.3.
We all save our work to and on a company server.
All documents and links reside on this server.
PROBLEMS
What is happening is an operator will create a document, in a new folder on the server, save all the links and the indd doc to the same place.
While working all the links are linking, and updating, and working.
The same operator will save the document, and close it.
Then come back to open it later, only to find that now all the links are missing, and not linking.
The links folder has not been moved, changed, updated or amended in any way.
Many of the links are static hires tif images that do not move or change at all, and even these go missing.
Why would the document save with all the links intact, only to open again with all the links missing?
I would appreciate any help in this regard as this problem slows down our workflow and
productivity as each time the operators have to relink all the images to the job before
work can continue.

Start by checking that the times on all computers and the server are synched and that they are set to the same time zone.
It may also matter what protocol you are using to connect to the server. Is it Appletalk, SMB, etc. Basically, if one isn't working you could try something different and see if that helps.
Lastly, did the problem only just start with the 10.6.3 update? If so, it may require a patch by Apple or Adobe to fix permanently.

Addresses in iCloud looses link to groups

I import single vcards by drag and drop into a specific address group (office) on my mac mini (Lion) using Lion's address book.
If i check in the Mac's address book i can see that this new address belongs to that group (office).
But unfortunately the link to this group gets lost when syncing to iCloud and then to iPhone4 (iOS5). The address is there (on icloud.com and the iPhone). And also the group existed before on both.
This happens only with some addresses. I imported about 200 addresses in this way in different groups. Some will work fine. Others not. Not Apple like.
My address book is configured that all addresses are stored in iCloud. iCloud is the standard account. All my addresses are stored in the address book / iCloud.
Any idea?
btw.: there is no chance to bring this address into the group. Not by drag and drop on iCloud.com, nor by removing the address from the group on the mac and then add it again.

I have had a similar problem in my recent conversion to using iCloud. I have over 4500 entries in Address Book, subdivided into about 50 different groups. When I moved to iCloud, all the groups disappeared in iCloud and on my Mac. Fortunately they still exist on my iPhone, but I have found no way to get them back on to my Mac where I need them the most. Re-creating all the groups would be a huge task!
Individual entries seem to sync OK in all 3 places, but the Groups do not sync.

Aperture loose link with Referenced Masters

I just upgraded to Aperture 2 and spent days organizing and creating an elaborate library of referenced files. The masters were placed on an external HD via FW 800. Things were working perfectly until I launched Aperture and there was no sign of my library. Aperture looked brand new with an empty library other than the sample images from the Installation Disc.
If I go to Aperture Preferences it is correct is pointing to the attached external disc where I have my masters stored. Fortunately, when I look on my external HD the images are still there. The Aperture application just won't recognize the files on the external HD.
This is very frustrating as I spent days creating this elaborate organization.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Really dumb question. Where is the actual Aperture Library located? Do you have more than one Aperture Libraries? In other words, Aperture Library on your internal and external drives.
If so, just start Aperture by double clicking the external drive Aperture Library where you store the referenced master files. Or do what I do, is to have the Aperture Library on my internal drive and all of my image master files on an external drive.

'' is missing - loosing links to JPG's

I'm Working in FCP Studio 2. Timeline is 720p ProRes 422. All the footage is jpg's.
I'm part of a 3 suites editorial section without a server which means that the projects and media are updated manually every morning.
i ran into a big problem the other day when a project that was not moved or updated (during that day) lost the connection to about a 100 jpg's. and i get the the: '' is missing.
I had the same problem when the sound files that we're using had renamed on the finder level but not in FCP.
any solution of how to avoid or fix this problem?

It only does it on my timeline, so I guess that in my case it means that the sequence(s) itself is offline, not all the clips, (as I can still see & play them). Don't know if you got the same or just all the clips?
And when I'm trying to reconnect each file (from browser) on time, nothing really happens. I can reconnect them from the sequence, but as my sequences are 20 - 40 min long, I wouldn't want to do it each clip on time. And though all my files have the correct reel & name, I need to uncheck the "Matched name and reel only"
I'm not using external hard drive, the project and the files has not been moved. I really hate this!
Does anyone know what the " stands for?
