A300 freezes with adapter plugged in...help

My toshiba a300 laptop (just 1 year old) freezes when the power adapter is plugged..!
The service centre people say they cant really figure out the exact problem so i will need to replace my motherboard !!! which is very very bad!
They also say it works with battery... when the adapter is plggued... doom..,
I am really worried about having to replace the motherboard ...
pls help me with this.. what should i do...

Try setting your energy saver processor speed settings to "highest" for both battery and power adapter operation. If this fixes the problem, your second ram chip is not "bus slewing" compatible. See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=227369&tstart=0

The origianl mother to be replace is due to can't power on after a power failure recovery. I believe was due to power surge killed the motherboard's power controller circuitry.
Appreciate any one can provide clue for resolving the problem.
I have tried to install speedfan to try my luck, but it can't any fan in the application to configure. (Bios Version F50)

  • Computer freezes with iPod plugged in, songs show exclamation marks, etc...

    HELP!!!
I've restored, re-loaded, re-installed, updated, etc. but nothing helps.
I plug in my 40gig iPod, iTunes finds it and starts uploading all my songs. Then, after a random period of time, the entire computer locks up. Mouse doesn't move, nothing. The only way to make the computer come back to life is to unplug the iPod.
For the indeterminate period of time that the iPod is plugged in and updating, when I check the list of songs already on the iPod, several of the tracks have exclamation marks in a dark circle next to them. These tracks work fine when played through iTunes, but not through the iPod.
I've run 'Chkdsk f: /F' several times, and it finds plenty of problems and errors.
It takes me over a month to reload all the songs onto my my iPod because it can't upload more than 500meg without freezing the computer up.
    PLEASE HELP!

Having the same problem and judging by the other posts i've read so are alot of other ipod classic users. When I sync my ipod it gets up to about a 1000 songs then starts going really slow and i cannot eject so when i unplug it all the songs are gone and i need to restore ipod again.
I'm getting fed up with this problem i've rebooted my ipod over 20 times trying to fix this problem and i want to know what apple are going to do about it because so far it appears that they are sticking their hands in the sand and ignoring the problem.

I can start the Notekook with the AC Adapter plugged, but it turns off before to reach the Welcome Screen or reboot. I tried straight to install Windows 7 with a another HDD . As soon as only the installation files are loaded, the system starts again. I do not reach times the beautiful blue window, of where the actual installation can be started.
    thx

  • T500 shuts down/or freezes when I plug in my AC adapter and now will not start up.

I have had my T500 for two years and I have had endless problems with this laptop. My latest issue started with the computer waking up from sleep mode with a black screen. The computer just froze there and I had to force it to shutdown. When I finally managed to get it started again, the computer gave me an alert saying that a display driver had stopped working. The computer ran fine for a while before it would issue the blue screen of death then have the same black screen issue again and shutdown. Then it got to the point where if I have my computer plugged in it would not even get to the BIOS screen, it would simply loop-restart over and over till I unplugged it, pulled out the battery, put the battery back and turned it on again. Then it would not start at all if I had my adapter plugged in and if I plugged it in at all while the computer was running, it would freeze and after a minute would shut down and again continuously try to start up. Now, the computer will not start in any way, plugged in or no. The lights all turn on like it normally does when it starts up, but then it shuts off and repeats the same process over and over again.
I have no idea what to do this time and unfortunately being a student I do not have enough money to buy an external harddrive to back up everything on this computer. Frankly with all the problems I have had with this thing, I am considering just throwing it out.

Try making a bootable Ubuntu disc and running that for a while. It's possible your Windows install is hosed.

  • Hp pavillion dv9700 won't start with Ac adapter plugged in

    Dear all,
I have a 3 year old hp pavillion dv9700. The problem is that the computer won't turn on when i remove the batteries and leave the Ac adapter plugged in. The led that indicates that the adapter is plugged in is on, so that means that the adapter is working fine. But to be sure, I used another Ac adapter from another dv9700.
The next thought I had that the problem might be the Ac jacket( that is connected to the motherboard ). So I dismantled 2 dv9700 laptops (one is mine, the otherone from a friend, which is by the way working fine), and toke out the Ac jacket from the laptop that was working oke and replaced it with mine(whIch wasn't booting with the Ac adapter). And still the same problem. So now I am able to say that there is something wrong with thE motherboard.
When ever I plug in a battery that is not empty, the laptop starts up normally. The other thing that noticed is that whenever I plug in the battery the led of the Ac jacket turns on (not full bright, but somewhat dimmed). This doesn't happen normally. That means that there is somewhere a short circuit on the motherboard.
I have looked all over the internet, but wasn't able to find someone who had the same problem as me, or a solution for it.
Ps. It has nothing to do with the video card, because if that was the case, it wouldn't even start with the batteries.
    Already thanks, kdeo2k

    Hello there, sarhang27753.
First thing that would come to mind to resolve the issue would be SMC and PRAM resets. I've linked Knowledge Base articles below:

  • I Phone Freezes with Mailbox and CD Logo-Help Please

My Iphone freezes with a Mailbox logo with an arrow pointing to an I-tunes CD logo. It will not allow me to re-set. It does allow me to turn on and off, but this same mailbox logo with an arrow pointing upward to the i-tunes logo is constant. I have tried resetting completely, but nothing.
    any help would be appreciated.
Also, this occurs about once per week, but usually resolves with a re-charge. However, this is NOT the problem. Thanks again.

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities
It sounds like your iPad is in recovery mode after an error in the update process that may have occurred. The solution to this would be to plug it into a computer running the latest version of iTunes and press the restore button. This will ease the iPad and reinstall iOS. Hopefully you setup an iCloud or iTunes backup for the device.

  • Powerbook G4 won't charge battery or run with power adapter plugged in.

My Titanium Powerbook G4 will not charge the battery or run with the power adapter plugged in. When plugged in the power adapter doesn't change to amber showing its charging. Instead it has a green light that flashes off and on. I thought it was a defective power adapter but when its plugged in to another powerbook its seems to be working properly. I reset the PMU but that didn't help. I have been unable to find anything that would tell me what a flashing green means.
    Powerbook Titanium G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Hi, Marshall. With no power being supplied to the Mac for several months, not only has your main battery gone flat (and may never again be able to take a charge), but your internal backup battery has also gone flat. A Tibook with a dead backup battery generally will not start up at all, even with AC power connected.
Try this: remove the main battery and leave the AC power adapter connected overnight in an attempt to recharge the backup battery. If the Powerbook won't start in the morning under AC power, the backup battery is shot, has lost the ability to be charged, and must be replaced.
If the PB starts up in the morning on AC power, set the date and time correctly, shut the computer down, insert the main battery, and allow 48 hours with AC power connected in an attempt to charge the main battery. Then disconnect the AC adapter and try to start up under battery power. If that doesn't work, and no lights or only one flashing light appear when you press the power-indicator button on the battery, you'll have to replace the main battery.

Trying to download itunes onto PC installed with windows vista. Download keeps getting to 99% with 1 second remaining and then freezes / does nothing? Any help appreciated.

I solved the problem! The updates orignally were downloaded to the C: drive of the server. I've since moved them to the E: drive and for some reason the Content folder in IIS didn't change the file path to the new WSUScontent folder.
The root cause for this was failing to use the UTILITY designed for this very purpose.
I edited the virtual directory settings in IIS and was able to put the correct path in.
You still need to use the UTILITY.. to fix all the other stuff you're still missing.
    In the %ProgramFiles%\Update Services\Tools folder...
    WSUSUTIL MOVECONTENT E:\WSUS E:\WSUS\MoveContent.LOG -SKIPCOPY
This problem was caused by moving the WSUS updates to a different local drive.
No. This problem was caused by IMPROPERLY moving the WSUS updates to a different local drive.

  • Can I charge my ipod classic in Germany with the same usb wall charger I use in the USA, by plugging it directly into the correct adapter plug? Or do I need a power converter/transformer?

I will be in Germany for a year. I want to take my ipod classic and charge it with a usb wall charger, like I do here in the USA. Can I simply use the correct wall adapter plug for Germany, or must I use a power converter/transformer in between?

It should work as long as the prongs adapter are adapted to the outlet configuration.

  • New condition baffling mouse cursor freezes if I put it on a flat surface even with ac plugged in

    Hi all
I am now really stumped.  Here is the situation
ac adaptor plugged in mouse freezes
UNTIL I plug in WIRED and working lan cable.
if I unplug the lan cable from the router the mouse cursor freezes.
NOW that would be strange enough BUT if I unplug the LAN cable the mouse freezes again as expected UNTIL I lift up the S10 ( doesn't matter how I do it) the mouse starts to work again!!!! with the ac plugged in. So now you are all thinking it's the ac socket !!! nope thought about that and it's got nothing to do with it.   The mouse freezes the moment I put the computer down on a flat surface or even near it.
It's as if the bloody thing is effected by proximity to a mass ? anyone got any ideas

    Hi majorkong,
Additional ideas are possible shorts internal to the system.  I definitely have a reason to believe that the unit has a hardware problem.  This is either through the touchpad, touchpad cable, or on the motherboard.
As I see here you have already communicated with us before.  Here is your previous thread with us.
    Have a good night.
