A305 - S6872 Laptop CD/DVD Rom does not show up on "My Computer"

How to I fix this problem. There's a "!" mark in the "Device Manager" for the cd/dvd rom drive.

How do I fix these problems because updating the drivers will not fix it and make it go away.

I've run diagnostics. Can't find device. I've tried resetting. The toggle has been turned on and off.

Cable works fine on my other iPod. Reset by pressing menu and center button together for 6-10 seconds. Left it to charge for many hours. Started acting up while running. Suddenly the music stopped playing but my Nike + was still working for the rest of my run. Took it straight it home and plugged it in to the wall to recharge since the battery was fairly low. Looked like it recharged ok but then screen went blank and now does it not show up on iTunes, does not seem to recharge by the wall charger (apple wall charger plugged into a surge protector in India). I have turned the hold switch off and on many times.
Sounds like a repair issue, which is not easy to do in India :(

Hey there, i got the same Problem with my MacBook Pro (Mavericks 10.9.4) and two iPhone´s 5 with the iPad 2 and the iPad Air, (all with iOS 7.1.2) since 2months. SOLUTION???
Since the change of Snow Leopard on Mavericks, the entire system of the MacBook is much slower. This is already noticeable at the beginning (start the MacBook Pro). It runs through the entire software. z.Bsp. Open Safari / Outlook, iTunes and more. for about 2months absolutely no back-up of my devices is possible!!
Every time when you connect the hardware (iPhone 5 / iPad 2 / iPad Air) iTunes stops responding and needs to close above EXIT NOW!! No back-up's my hardware (see above) possible!!!
but iPhoto is running with the devices and at least I can transfer the images.

How do I eject a dvd from the drive when it does not show on the desktop? I tried restarting and the drive makes noise but does not eject the dvd.

Hold down the mouse button while restarting. This should eject any disc in the drive.

DVD player does not show images

Hi,
This could have been added to a recent post, but it is somewhat different.
When I insert one of my own DVDs, DVD player plays the music all right but no image...unless I request to open DVD media in the menu.
Can someone help and tell me why is it not doing it automatically as it did with my previous OS version ? What should I do ?

Furthermore when I open the media VIDEO TS from my DVD, it is loading but the controler does not allow me to do anything; just inactive; I just hear the music that is on the home page of the DVD

DVD Player does not show all subtitles available

I am posting this in the OS X Tiger forum, because I could not find a forum dedicated to DVD Player.
I am looking for a way to access "hidden" subtitle languages. I know that probably doesn't make sense. Here is what I mean:
Most DVDs have a page that lets you select a subtitle language (English, Spanish, French). However, if I play a DVD on the Toshiba DVD player connected my TV and I press the "subtitle" button on the remote, a pop-up window appears on the screen that usually shows many more language options than are available on the subtitle page. (Japanese, Indonesian, Chinese, etc.)
Is there a way to access these "hidden" subtitle languges with Apple's DVD player? (I have ver. 4.6.5)

I've not used that option, but it it exists then you would use the method described in the DVD Player Help topic "Showing subtitles in movies."
In DVD Player, select Help > DVD Player Help. In the resulting Help Viewer window, type "showing subtitles" in the search field in the top border, press Return, then double-click the "Showing subtitles in movies" topic in the search results. Follow the instructions in that DVD Player Help document.

From what you are describing the iPod will not show up in iTunes when you connect it. I found an article that may help you with the iPod issue you described.

MuVo does not show up in "My Comput

I have an Emachines 2.92 ghz system with 024 ram running Windows XP and I do have Adminstrati've rights. I installed the software on my computer as instructed. When I rebooted and then attached the Muvo txfm to my usb port. The Muvo screen shows the moving USB icon as pictured in the instruction manual but it was NOT recognized in "My Computer".
There was something under "Control Panel" called Muvo system folder I think and when I clicked that, it said there was no dri've connected and that I should connect the dri've to the USB port. But it already was connected. I tried another USB port but the system would not recognize it from there either. It is listed in Device manager under dri'ves and there is no question mark or exclaimation mark there or anywhere in Device Mgr. but when I select the dri've to go into "Properties" the computer freezes for about 20 seconds. Then properties opens up and it says "there is no problem with this device." A window came up in my taskbar saying there was a problem with hardware installation so the device may not work properly. I disconnected all usb devices and connected the Muvo again but it doesn't show up. Then I rebooted, attached the device again but still the same problem. Then I unistalled the software and attached the device to the USB port and a window came up saying the hardware was installed and the device was now ready for use but it still is not in "MY Computer" so I am unable to access the device to do anything with it. It is in Device Mgr as "disk dri've" now. Then I deleted the device from Device Mgr and rebooted. I installed the driver update called "MStorage_PCDRV_LB__07_00_250.exe" from your website and then plugged the Muvo into the USB port again and it showed up there as Muvo TXFM but still not in My Computer listing.
I tried to install the Firmware update from your website called: "MuVoTXFM_PCFW_LF__9_0.exe" but because the Muvo doesn't show up in "MY computer" it is unable to find the device and it just hangs as it looks for the device.
OK, now I'm thinking the Muvo is a defecti've player so I plugged it into my 998 Dell computer running Windows Me. with no software installation at all and it showed up in "My Computer" in a matter of seconds. I even put a song on it from the Dell computer. So wassup?

P.S. I also did these two registry fixes allowing permissions on both (but they were already set to that anyhow) so it did not fix it:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\U SB
And also I downloaded and installed the three microsoft fixes I found on one of the many posts I read on this forum for media player and something else. I cant remember what, I am just so exhausted!

Connect your player and find its entry in Device Manager. Click on Remove then disconnect player. Also select Show Hidden Devices and remove any extra entries for your player.
Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and remove the MuVo drivers, Mediasource and Media Explorer software.
Reboot PC and then re-connect player - it should be detected immediately by XP.
Another thing it might be is if you are using a front-mounted USB port on your PC - these don't always supply enough current. They allow the player to be seen but not enough to actually do anything with it.
If you choose View Devices by Connection in Device Manager with the player connected and drill down to find the entry for your player, you can look at the properties for the controller and hub that it is connected to. One of these shows the current equired and the current available.

I have done all the troubleshoots and reset functions but my iPod shuffle is still not working. Every time I plugged my iPod it only shows red light that lasts for about 3 seconds and will disappear after some time. I've been using the same computer and laptop back then, and it stopped working since the last week of October.

Try another disc. It's possible that it's scratched & won't read.
DVD Player is found in your Applications folder.

New computer only syncs itunes music from ipod but i have other songs not purchased from itunes that does not show up in new computer

i used to have 900+ songs stored on my HP laptop, which i can no longer use and bought new toshiba laptop. when i tried to synce 900 songs from iPOD to the toshiba it only gave me 330 songs and not the entire library stored on the iPOD. have tried sync from iCLOUD as well as importing & exporting songs as shown in the drop down menu from iTUNES, but unable to do the sync process successfully!? do i have to manually reload every song i have already burned to CD onto new toshiba? am i or did i already do something wrong to prevent what should have been an easy sync?? am retired and techno-challenged. really need clear to follow instructions. any help will be more than greatly appreciated...

You can only sync with one computer/iTunes library. To make the new computer the syncing computer:
