Ok so when i'm doing something for example playing a game, the laptop goes black and shutdown and then to turn it back i press the on button and it starts from the beginning of startup, is it because of the lack of air going to the laptop or is there another reason?

Could be overheating, especially since you mention it happens when gaming. SOunds like it's time to give it a thorough cleaning. Also make sure that you leave enough space under it to allow propper air flow for cooling.

Hi,
i have a satellite A505-S6965, and when im either in a forum or writing an email.. i can type about 50-75 words and then it gets to where it wont respond to the keys when i type.. ill be going along and and all my words will be missing letters. Does any one know what my problem may be? the computer is less then 6mo. old.

Can you reproduce the situation on demand? If so, see if it happens under the following two conditions.
1. Boot into Safe Mode with Networking. See Advanced startup options (including safe mode).
2. Boot normally into another user account. If necessary, create one.

Could someone help me with my Satellite A505-S6965

My laptop, purchased just about two weeks ago, has been working beautifully. Not a single problem to report. When I attempted to turn it on this morning, however, it did't go past the black screen with the green Microsoft loading bar. I ran (or at least tried to run) the start-up repair, but to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps an inkling as to what it might be?

Do it this way.
Turn the computer on and immediately press and hold the F8 key.
On the Advanced Boot Options menu, choose Repair Your Computer.
When you reach the System Recovery Options menu, choose Startup Repair.
If that doesn't do the trick, go back to the System Recovery Options menu and do a System Restore.
If that doesn't fix things either, go back to the System Recovery Options menu, choose Command Prompt, and follow the directions here

You have other hardware problems then just the cracked screen and failed hard drive. That is why the Apple store said to buy a new mac notebook. Probably the logic board, the main system component, was damaged during the sudden stop of the fall. Also the 2008 MBP logic boards were faulty to begin with. They had a bad graphics chip installed in them.
Just chalk it up to experience and move on. you can always sell the screen you bought and use the hard drive as a external on your other mac or the new notebook you buy.

A505 S6980- Problems with built in microphone

Had to reinstall OPS & drivers with a new hard drive Microphone not working. I have tried MS fix IT & suggestions I found here but to no avail. Can some maybe post a link to something that worked? Thanks in advance

Did you use Toshiba recovery media, or did you reinstall Windows with a Windows installation disc? You can avoid many driver issues by using recovery media. What OS are you using?

USB ports detached on the inside

I have a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6965. The two USB ports on the right (next to each other) have somehow become detached on the inside -- I can still see them in there, but they're not aligned properly with the slots, so I can't insert a thumb drive. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can I go in from the bottom and snap them back into place somehow, or should I leave it to a professional? Will they just snap back in, or is there a screw or something that's probably broken in there?

I JUST FOUND THE BEST WAY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM GO TO THE WEBSITE THAT KOMOBO PROVIDED THEN FOLLOW STEPS 1 THROUGH 5 ONCE YOU HAVE TAKEN THE FOUR SCREWS OF THE KEYBOARD DON'T DISCONNECT THE KEYBOARD BUT BE CAREFUL NOT TO PULL IT . NOW MOVE THE KEYBOARD A LITTLE DOWN TO SHOW THE PICTURE YOU SEE IN STEP 11. NOTE YOU DONT HAVE TO REMOVE THE HARDDRIVE. NOW THERE ARE TWO HOLES ON THE TOP WHERE YOU CAN GET TO THE USB PORTS THAT ARE DISATTACHED. NOW GET A PEN A ERASEABLE PEN ANY COLOR IT DOESNT MATTER. NOW TAKE OFF THE ERASER AND PUT THE ERASER IN ONE OF THE TWO HOLES AND IT WILL HOLD THE USBPORTS BACK IN PLACE AND IT WILL ALSO ALLOW YOU TO PUT BACK THE KEYBOARD WITH NO PROBLEM WORKS GREAT FOR MEEEEEEE THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE IDEAS AND STEP THATS HOW I FIGURE OUT THIS TRICK.

Sound stops working until i restart.

I currently have the satellite a505-s6965. I bought it back in 2009 but last year my hard drive crashed so I replaced it with a 1tb SSdrive and upgraded to windows 7 in the process. I havent had any other issues until maybe about 2-3 weeks ago when i noticed after so long my sound stops working. I can't play videos, music or anything. Itunes wont even show the song playing at all. I have done everything, my drivers are all up to date, my bios is updated. I have tried headphones and none of that changes anything.
However...if I hit the volume up button on the laptop, it will beep through both the speakers and headphones but no other sounds will play. But if I restart it will all go back to working forr so long. Sometimes when the sound works i may sound a little cracked or weird.
Any suggestions on a fix for this issue?

Hi. I see that this question has gone unresolved since Oct. I'm having a similar problem. Also using FCP 7.
I have a video, recorded on a Canon Vixia HV30. I captured the video and found that the sound was recorded too high. There was an audio recorder, Zoom H4, recording at the same time, and it had a much better level, so I imported the .wav file to my project. I spent about 2 hrs cutting the video and the audio, syncing the audio to the video and making cuts between the songs that were played to edit out the between song banter and other stuff.
All seemed to be working fine, and then at some point, I clicked the "L" key to move forward, and there was a loud pop, and the sound went away. Whenever I press the start key, or one of the J, K, L keys, it click/pops and no sound is available.
Any help with that?

Choppy operation and frequent short freeze ups

My A505-S6965 has shown a sudden decrease in performance and refinement.
It's once smooth operation of programs and sturdy memory have now given way to choppier, slower operation with annoying freezeups occuring about 3x a minute. Sometimes there would be brief peridos of smoothness, but it's erratic nature is getting to me.
I tried a complete PC restore, but the issue ddin't dissapear, but remained, indicating the culprit isn't a virus or software.
My older laptop, with Windows xp, runs a lot smoother than this, and its hard drive is more full proportionally. Currently the laptop has just arrived at the depot and is being diagnosed, but why would something like this happen? Is it memory, a warped hard drive, or a flawed processor?

The people at the repair depot returned my PC to me, saying they couldn't find my issue, even after extended testings and diagnosis. And my problem remains. Slower load ups, and occasional "seizures". For example, when I'm scrolling through a web page, sometimes the scroll bar freezes a few sec, then, snap, it's at the bottom. I'm getting those a lot more frequently now, and freezeups where the screen styas still for a few secs, then starts again. And when I'm on WoW, the sound and video are often completely out of sync (it's not a game problem, it persisted after a complete system recovery). Loading of other programs is generally slower, with similar freezeups. This laptop could once handle many windows with ease, and now it struggles to do so. And the repair depot claim my problem doens't exist....It's hard to believe that this is the same powerhouse PC I bought in August 09, that made me a very happy customer for a few months. My older laptop with XP runs smoother than this, and loads faster than this, and it doens't have 1/4 the stats of this model. For a PC with 4GB ram, 500GB hard drive, and an ATI Mobility Radeon with 512 mb dedicated memory, this is simply a humiliating embarrassment.
I've since then upgraded to Windows 7, but little improvement has been accomplished by doing so. My words sound a bit terse, but that is because after a month of calling, lack of understanding, and so called "repairs", my patience is running out. What is wrong with my PC, and why won't Toshiba lift a finger to fix it under my warranty? Even if the way i describe the problem doens't quite fit the problem exactly, you'd think they'd have at least picked something up or noticed something wrong. Or do they simply think my problem isn't worth the trouble to fix? Or is there something I've overlooked? I've updated audio and visual drivers, and direct x, but is there more?

Can't read burned DVD

I have a Satellite A505-S6965, with this (now irksome) slot-loading disk drive, and burned a nice little DVD-R full of music yesterday. Today, I pop it back in, play some tracks, and then take it out to play Fallout 3. I finish up with that, then slide the music disk back in, and all my computer does is rev up the drive over and over and over and over, until I finally get fed up and try to get it to eject. But it doesn't. Not for a long, long while and many more eject button presses than necessary. Then, after all that, I try re-inserting it, and while it doesn't rev endlessly, the disk reads as totally empty, both of data, and free space. A zero-byte DVD. The disk drive seems to work with other DVDs, but not this one, even though my XP desktop reads the disk and the data off of it perfectly fine.
Any ideas/solutions/help, pleeeease?

Bam! I knew it! Ive had some problems with memorex. Not all the time though. Check this post in a forum in 2005. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/232406. Check the post from CREAKY. This is why not all people agree that memorex is bad. One funny thing is toshiba sued memorex. Google it to find out about it.

Using my c drive memory too quickly

My satellite a505-s6965 has went from 454 gb t 300 in 1 month. i believe it to be some back files or application data. but i am not that computer savvy. i have only installed a cad program and itunes. at this rate my computer will be full very soon.

Reimage after upgrading Vista to Windows 7

Is it possible to create recovery disks and then reimage a Satellite A505-S6965 that has been upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate and then restore the laptop to Windows 7?
I can't find my Windows 7 product key, so I can't just re-install Windows. It is a genuine copy--I did buy the upgrade.
Sorry for the uneducated question, but if it is possible, what state would be laptop be in after the restoration? Would it have just the OS and need all the apps re-installed, and the docs, pics, etc would be gone (which is what I want)?
If that is not possible using this method, what can I do to reimage the disk without having to buy another copy of Windows 7? Is there a way to recover the Windows 7 product key?

Another solution to find your "legal" Product keys is to D/L and use SIW. If you click on Licenses, you will get them all. Fantastic app for any curious mind. I have it on all my machines. Here is the speel on it. Have fun. JP.

I can not get wifi to work after installing new hard drive...

I have a a505-s6965 laptop running vista and I had to replace the hard drive. After doing so and running all of the recovery discs I keep getting an error message about my wifi driver and card reader and also a couple others. Now my computer works but I can not get online even if I do not use wifi. PLEASE HELP!!!

Virus Killed Mute Button - Want to Re-Enable

A virus fried the mute button on my A505, although I have mute functionality via the FN/ESC key. BTW, it also killed my touchpad on/off button, which also works using the FN/F9 key. Any ideas how to recovered use of these buttons?

Built-in Mic not working since installing windows 7 64bit

Since windows 7 64bit installed in my lap A505-s6965, built-in microphone is not working, in control panel only have High definition audio device (twice and only one of them works fine).
only when i conect and external mic works perfect, cant find any specific driver is ther one?
