A6750F slow and shaky after waking up

I place the computer in sleep mode when away.  Upon return the system will be jerky.
Clean install 11/5/11
Clean disk 12/14/11
Defrag 12/14/11

Restart your mac in Safe Mode by holding down the 'shift' key while it powers up. You'll know if you've entered Safe Mode correctly if you see a progress bar underneath the grey Apple logo screen. Let go of the shift key when you see that, wait for the progess bar to complete then log in.
After log in, go to
 > System Preferences... Users & Groups and remove everything from the 'Login Items' tab.
If you have any anti-virus software installed (Sophos, F-Secure, VirusBarrier, Mackeeper) uninstall it while in Safe Mode.
Restart your mac normally and test.
Any improvement?

    Hi Scott.
There is a problem - but Apple have not acknowledged it. Many people on these forums are experiencing the same issue.
To get something done, you should report it here. The more of us that tell Apple about it, the more likely they are to fix it. You could also send a short email headed 'Apple TV update problems' to

ipad2 very slow and crashing after OS8 upgrade 8.1.1. I have tried to restore, using the iCloud backup (twice) and it works well for a short while then slows and crashes again.  Genius bar help said older versions of OS8 never closed apps, so a restore should fix it, but it didn't, even with a repeat.

  • Ethernet slow to connect after waking from sleep

Since installing Lion (and updating to 10.7.1) on my 2008 24" iMac I have noticed that after waking from sleep the internet connection takes about 10 seconds to restore. I have reset the SMC and PRAM and performed a safe boot (in case this helped) but to no avail. The slow conenction can be observed if after waking from sleep the Network System Preference is clicked and the ethernet status "light" is red, changes briefly to amber and then green indcating a connection. The iMac is connected via an ethernet cable to a Linksys 802.11n 4 port wireless router.
I also have a 2010 13" MacBook Pro, with the same OS, and version, conencted in the same way to the same Linksys router and it does not exhibit this problem.
This slow internet connection access after waking from sleep is an annoyance and I'd appreciate any input on how to elimnate it.
Thanks to those wiser than I, who might read this note.

I solved my problem moving the Ethernet and WiFi adapters in the top of the list and Bluetooth at the end.
Move Wi-Fi to the top of the Service Order list – This is an old tip that simply prioritizes WiFi as the primary method that your Mac should connect to the internet, and it seems to help maintain connections

  • GT70 internet very slow and sluggish when waking from sleep

My GT70 sometimes is very slow and sluggish to respond when it is awoken from sleep mode. Browsers become unresponsive (hyperlinks don't register as links and require multiple clicks to respond) and internet gets very slow. Speedtest.net reports  .50-3mb/s when it is usually 24mb/s and above.  The hdd also thrashes about and won't calm down for what seems like an eternity.
This only happens when opening the lid after the machine sits idle for several hours. This is fixed by restarting the machine.
Does anyone know why this laptop would be behaving like this? it is very frustrating and makes sleep mode pretty much useless.
    cheers,

First thing I would do is get CPU-Z and open that after wake-up and seeing if the CPU is running at the speed expected, or if it's stuck at some lower speed.
thanks for the reply. will try that next time it happens.

  • Slow and unresponsive after iOS4 update

While the new features are nice, the slow down is not.
My 3G now seems slow and unresponsive in all Apps and generally.
Not very happy with that to be honest, don't see why it should be slower.

I have had the same problem with my iPhone using the iOS4 update. I reset my iPhone and it was still slow. I also fully turned it off and waited a whole day and turned it on (resulted in a minor improvement to speed). I can't use multi tasking etc because I don't have the 3GS phone. I also had an issue where I couldn't open up iTunes!! I pressed the icon, and the phone froze in the iTunes screen without displaying any albums etc..... then it returned to the home screen. I repeated the process 3 times with the same result. It did eventually open up on the 4th time and played a song. I am not very impressed with the performance of my iPhone after the software update and will give it another week or so to see if Apple release any "fixes" after that I'm going to revert back to the old software.

  • Why are my iPhone 4S and iPad 2 so slow, and crashes after the iOS 8 updates?

Even after the iOS 8.0.2 update, both my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 are very slow to respond to the touchscreen. Some of my apps crash. Safari is very slow. Everything about the iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 are just overall slow, and sometimes unresponsive. I feel like I am using one of the first android touchscreen phones and tablets. They do not any longer feel like an Apple product. I wish I had never updated.

Also forgot to mention about the syncing with iTunes. Each morning, I have to literally turn off and then turn back on the 4S iPhone and the iPad 2 to get them to be seen by iTunes and sync. Yes, I am using the updated 11.4 iTunes on my iMac.

  • IPad 2 and iPad Mini Slow and Buggy after iOS8 "Fix"

After living with an EXCEPTIONALLY slow and buggy iPad Mini (1st gen, still available from Apple Store,  BTW) since iOS8 was released, I discovered something...
Deleting the Facebook App and the Facebook Messenger App - AND THEN REBOOTING THE iPAD - makes a DRAMATIC difference in performance of the entire iPad...
Once deleted and rebooted, you'll be able to:
    1. Cut, copy and paste work again
    2. Say goodbye to those long periods waiting for apps to load, crash and reload
    3. Run faster and much more reliably
I have NO idea why FB and iOS 8 on older devices is a problem at the system level, but I have found that it DEFINITELY is. All it takes is running FB once on a freshly booted iPad and the problems begin.
I deleted those after trying every fix every person on the discussion board suggested (settings, resetting networks, etc) and it's been several days of an iPad running the way it did under iOS7.
SO...don't shoot the messenger. While this isn't a permanent 'fix', it DOES fix the iPad/iOS8 problems except for the fact that you'll need to use FB from Safari or a browser until they sort it out.
Again, these are my findings. I'd love to see if others experience the same thing... If this doesn't work for you, you can always reinstall FB.

I too am having a similar issue though most of it is with browsing on Safari. That is the load speed of pages became 1990s dailup slow. I believe it has to do with memory, or lack thereof. Something in iOS8 is chugging the system and slowing everything down. I don't know of any solutions. Very frustrating.

  • Slow and Shaky

I have PE4 running on XP with a quad core (q6600) with 4GB of memory and 2 7200rpm drives with plenty of free space. I have a Canon FS100 (sd widescreen flash based camcorder) which produces about 200 MOD files for about 35 minutes of footage (2.37 GB space). When I create a project and import the files in PE becomes very slow. Switching to and from PE results in long delays where PE performs disk reads on the drive holding the media for 3-4 minutes. Editing is also unbearably slow. The cpu never gets above 10% and the memory utilization stays at about 1 GB so that is not a bottleneck. Rendering files is fine, its just the editing process that is horrible.
I have read elsewhere about breaking up the project into fewer large files rather than many small. I tried this and it does perform much better. The only problem is that when I try to consolidate the files into an AVI the video is shaky. That problem is also discussed elsewhere but I have my project setup as flash based so I thought that would be fine.
This leaves me with 2 questions:
    1. Is there anything I can do so that I can just work with my original files rather than consolidate them? It seems that PE isn't using all the memory I have and is constantly hitting the disk re-reading the media files even though all I have don't is switched from one program to another. It's not hitting the Windows swap file as that is located on another drive.
    2. If there isn't anything I can do to work with my original files will I lose something in the translation if I consolidate to an MPEG rather than AVI to avoid the shaking? In the end I'm trying to produce a DVD but am uncomfortable doing all this converting just to work around issues with this software.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Smartest thing you could do is convert your video files to DV-AVIs before you bring them into Premiere Elements, Paul. That's the video format Premiere Elements is built around, and it handles them most efficiently.
Not that you should be sweating things with XP on a quad core! There has got to be some bottleneck some place that stealing your power!
You say you have two drives. I assume you're using your second drive for your video project and video files. A couple of things:
    1) Make sure the drive is formatted NTFS and not FAT32. You can find out if this is so by opening My Computer, right-clicking on each drive and selecting Properties.
    2) Ensure that the second drive is set up in your BIOS, not just your operating system. You can find out if this is the case by pressing ESC or F1 at the logo screen (The logo screen that appears BEFORE Windows starts to boot up) and entering your set-up area. If you haven't been here since installing that second drive, it's important to make the necessary updates here. Otherwise, your drive will chug along like a drive half its speed.
But I still recommend converting that file to a DV-AVI. You'll be amazed at how much better your whole system works with them!

  • ITunes on new Macbook Air is slow and laggy after a few minutes. What could be causing this?

I recently updated from PC to a 2013 Macbook Air i5 with an upgraded 8GB of memory and I copied over my iTunes library. However, when I've been using iTunes for a few minutes (specifically after editing the info of one of more songs), it gets very laggy and slow. I then have to quit iTunes and re-open it for it to run smoothly again. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Ignore all other sounds except at time frame  3 to 5 seconds in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0edpFdRZyFo
If your macbook is making that noise being woken from sleep mode, its normal and the noise of the laser tray. in the superdrive resetting, disk or no disk.  (ignore the fact the video says 2010 macbook, superdrive makes the same sound).
Is that the noise you are hearing?
Ah yes, heres  the SMS sensor sound >  is that it?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66xMoTEFH7Q
Thats a protection sound of the HD heads parking themselves to protect the HD from damage.  Are you moving the Macbook at all when you hear the sound?

  • MacBook pro 2009 is slow and freezing after installing mountain lion. Cannot get iPhoto to open fully, other apps are freezing.

Help! I thought I was doing the right thing by installing Mountain Lion on my 2009 MacBook Pro. It took forever to download correctly and now it is performing so poorly (freezing during applications, have to use force quit, have to use power button to shut it down, etc.) that I wish I never installed it! I want my old operating system back!

Boot in safe mode.* This will cause certain caches maintained by the system to be rebuilt. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot than normal.
When the login screen appears, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.

  • SQL Azure sync service-- absurdly slow and fails after a few days

Hello. We have been trying to use Azure Data Sync to replicate an on-premise MSSQL database to an SQL Azure database for read-only access by a customer. This was working for a while, but stopped syncing after a couple months(12hr auto-sync schedule) with
no errors in the log. I had to re-create the sync group, but now it takes even longer than originally to try to sync, and never actually completes, as it gets interrupted by bi-weekly server restarts... It used to take a few hours to sync the new data in our
database(which is appended to daily)-- but this time it fails after 4+ days... It was unacceptably slow initially(IMO), but now it's clearly unusable.  The original initialization of the data when I first set it up was less than 2 days of syncing.
It seems there is a throttle on the Azure sync service. Is this true?  Would it be best to clear the SQL Azure database now and re-sync? Is there a way to pre-load the SQL Azure database with MSSQL on-premise data via a SQL backup file or something?
    Please advise. Thank you.

when you re-created the sync group, does the member databases/hub database have pre-existing data?
when synching a sync group for the first time, make sure databases don't contain the same set of data, otherwise, you will run into conflicts which will completely slow down your sync...
I deleted the initial sync group because it wasn't syncing(auto or on-demand), nor creating a log entry with an error indicating why.
So, I simply deleted the sync group and re-created it with the same exact databases and settings. I did not delete all data in the SQL Azure database-- I was under the assumption that the sync service, with the tracking tables were smart enough to not get
confused with pre-existing data, but apparently that's not how this works?
I obviously can't delete the data in the source database(MSSQL on-premise), but I could delete the tables in the SQL Azure database if that's supposed to fix the problem-- then we'll just have to wait multiple days for it to be completely re-initialized,
hopefully without error... Is there a way to seed the data in some way to prevent this extremely log first sync?
    Thank you for your help.
