  • N97 Problem With GPS Singnal

    Hi evry one
my problem with GPS signal when i open my OVI Maps there is no signal from sat
and i can't use the nav or maps pls if any one have any answer plz replay this topic
    thnx.

Do you have the local Map data installed on your handset ? Having the data pre-installed on the handset does allow navigation without a data connection, but when only using gps, it can take a while for the initial 'lock' to the satelites (up to 20 minute with a clear view) then after the initial lock it should locate uoi more quickley. The whole system works better with assisted gps and uses very little data, but if you have the latest verion of maps with the pre-installed map data it should work offline !

  • Serious problems with GPS on BB Leap with OS 10.3.1

hii have 3 problems with my BB Leap; for 1 of it i write here to find a solution.when i enter on BB Maps (installed by default) with Location and Wi-Fi activated, my location always show that i am somewhere in Basel (Switzerland), even if i live in other European country. I searched the settings, and i do not find anywhere any presetted location. Isn't it very strange that the GPS is not able to find my REAL location? Please let me know what can i do to be rightful spotted.  the other secondary problems I hope will be solved with upgrades:1. the keyboard sound can not be totally reduced, even if the sound setting is at minimum.2. the camera sound has no setting to kill the noise when shooting.  thank you.

when i will check Location under the clear sky i will post here the experience. i am situated in romania, and there are big problems with the recognition of the streets.[meanwhile i think later to install the Google Maps after installing "cobald" ''s files or Snap; i still have to check if trustable]. concerning the sound of the typing from the keys, it is my English, sorry; i've said i setted to "maximum minimum" in the way that i setted the sound line to the maximum left, that is totally minimum.[please let me know where should i address a SUGGESTION for the next UPDATE, concerning the totally noise reduction of the keytyping and of the camera; there are numerous situations when you need to be completly silent when typing and shooting; i don't know what was in the head of the programmers ].  another thing that i experience right now is the battery drain. i still have to wait a little before asking why do BB say is 25 hours, and after charging the meter say 15 hours with all the apps, wi-fi, location, etc . closed. i still have to experience the battery situation, cause i feel it goes bye too soon...

  • Problem with GPS on Nokia 5800

Some days back i had big problem in getting GPS work to get my current location. I followed some intsturctions provided by one of the forum members and it seems to have worked.
Now the problem is, even when i am in the open area where satellite status  shows more than 5 available, i am unable to get a lock on my current position. Instead i get "GPS works poorly on indoors..." message. My mobile is still under warranty. Should i need to go and check with Nokia Care center? or is this could a confiugration problem?
i have Assisted, Network and integrated enabled and have GPRS enabled.
Any help would be realy apprecieated
Not to mention, i am on 4x firmware with latest Maps software and also have downloaded India Maps using maps downloader
    Cheers

    Hi KarthikK
This message sounds as if device can't communicate with the "Positioning server" so I would check that it is "supl.nokia.com" and confirm in Destinations > Internet that your desired network access point is prioritized.
Latest Nokia Maps v3.04Beta also utilizes an additional positioning method, Wi-fi/Network to speed up positional fix especially indoors as per screenshot:http://i43.tinypic.com/2mrcq68.jpg

  • N86 problem with gps after firmware update

J2ME-apps crashes or hangs with external gps after upgrade to firmware 30.009. This worked before the update.
The phone is a N86 RM484 and external GPS is a Globalsat 359.
The apps in question are GC LIve (http://live.geocaching.com/dl) and a homebrewn app.
When using external gps I only have "external gps" activated in "positioning methods". When using internal gps all options EXCEPT external gps are activated.
"OVI Maps", "Google maps" and "GPS status" all work fine with external GPS.
I've tried to reset the phone with three different methods but none fixes the problem. Methods I've tried: *#7780#, *#7370# and the acrobatic 4-button combo.
I'm all out of ideas, and hope someone has a solution. / Richard

    Hi again!
I've used ovi suite to reinstall prior to a reset, and also after a reset. It makes no difference to the problem
What would happen if I wiped the entire built in mass storage (E? There's lots of folders and files there that seems to be untouched regardless of reset method. Could it make things worse?
    Other ideas very welcome!
I'm not at all interested in demo versions of games that come bundled with this phone and all private stuff is backed up.

  • Problem with GPS in Nokia 5800

I'm in Nokia Maps, I click in "my position" and it shows me the red dot in south of Portugal (Algarve). Well, that would be cool if I were there, but I'm not! I'm in the north (Braga). I want to connect via sattelite and not via internet, cause I want to use it when I'm driving. Can somebody help me?

    Hi gui94
If you won't give the Assisted GPS feature a network internet connection albeit to download 7 kb of data then your first fix is going to take longer to achieve and would suggest you go outside away from tall buildings preferably with clear view of sky.
The position achieved using the Network GPS (cell tower location) can sometimes be well off the mark unfortunately but not usually by that much and then you will get a "Black ring" around the centre when locked on to position at which time you will see next to satellite icon green bars instead of yellow.

  • E52 problem with GPS

After updating software to 054.003. version I am unable to open navigation and install any other updates using Ovi Suite. Any ideas?

There is a new positioning method with V3.04 called wifi positioning and this seems to be causing problems for some. It should work once you disable this.

    Hi mostafagouda
Please be aware that "green satellite meter" is no longer a feature of OVI Maps v3.04. Have you just updated your version of OVI Maps as you may well find that the defined network access point for the "Positioning server" has been corrupted and you are now relying solely on "Integrated GPS" feature to determine location?
