A8N-SLI Deluxe/Live value incompatibili

I just put together a system with the following specs:
<B>Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Mobo</B>
AMD athlon64 3500+
MSI NX6600GT
GB Ram
200GB SATA Seagate hd
<B>SB Li've! Value sound card</B>
As far as I can tell the sbli've (which was recycled from an older computer) is incompatible with the Asus A8N deluxe mobo. The system reboots during the user login screen, or at best when windows tries to install drivers for the sound card. I have tried using this card an all my pci slots , but the result is the same. I have the BIOS version 002 which is the latest version right now.
Please help me get the sound card working.
Thanks

I almost forgot?. Right before the system crashes a horrible high pitched noise comes out of the speakers for a few seconds then the system reboots.

    PROBLEM:
Computer shuts down, with no error message or event log entry, at random times during Windows XP usage (games, internet usage, Guitar Port usage, etc...)
    Read on...
Computer shuts down during POST before CPU recognition message is displayed.
    TROUBLESHOOTING:
After problem first presented itself, I tried to recreate. It obviously did... at completely RANDOM and ethereal-like times.
I then pulled all hardware from the case and placed upon my workbench. I built the computer with the following: Mobo, CPU, Vid card, X-Fi, DIMM. Problem recreated.
I began pulling hardware by and started with the X-Fi (the ONLY un-needed component) and the problem failed to present itself.
I then added DIMM at a time. Problem still failed to present.
I then added the other video card. Problem did not present.
I then hardware configued for SLI. Problem did not present.
I then added the X-Fi. Problem presented once more.
    CONCLUSION:
After the process listed above, any troubleshooter would find the X-Fi to be the cause of the problem.
I can find no entries ANYWHERE on the Asus site.
    MORE HISTORY:
When the computer is working (for instance, playing a game) the sound works, AND HOW! And then I lose power to the system.
This is my first post ever, here, and my first post on this issue. I will edit as issues change and I apply more troubleshooting.

let us know how you make out.....
seems like you've tried most everything that makes sense... Seems like, from what I've read, that this card had some issues early on.. and they've come out with a bios flash to address some problems... You may want to check in with support to see if this applies in your case.. (I think there is a way to check you're sound cards revision number to see if you have a card requiring this fix)...
I am inclined to think its a hardware issue with your particular xfi card at this point... but I wouldn't totally rule out a compatability issue with your card using the NF4 setup you've described.. Based on my readings in the past, the NForce4 platform has been somewhat finicky with certain hardware combinations.. including psu's, NCQ HDD dri'ves and audigy soundcards...
Interestingly , I remember there was a big debate regarding the use of dual rail psu's with twin SLI cards in use, particular for the 6800 series and higher cards.. I believe ASUS recommended a PSU with rated minimally for 25a on the +2v rail.. with a total rating of 500w or more. (Not sure what it would be for your setup using the new 7800 cards). The debate was whether or not using 2 graphics cards in SLI mode would create a demand for more amperage than one of the dual rails feeding it could provide .. (in your case, I think your psu provides 8a across each of the 2 rails).. Since dual rails are isolated from each other to better protect the cpu , etc.. the board can't simply borrow from the 2nd 2v rail to meet its demands.. So folks argued that if running with 2 graphics cards in SLI mode, then you may be better off buying a PSU with a single rail having a higer rating.. (e.g. 33a) ... Not sure if a consensus was ever reached on that issue.. you may want to check with ASUS on that one... I thought you mentioned that you already tried running with a single card, so this may not apply in your case .. assuming the issue using dual rail psu's is even a valid one....

    Has anybody a solution ?

Actually someone did post a work around they got from Logitech support. If you go here http://forums.creative.com/creativel...cending&page=5 explains temporarly changing a key in the registry. Ppl report it works so maybe give it a shot?

I don't know could integrated soundchip cause this kind problems with separate sound card but one thing to check would be taking off Audigy and if PC starts then disabling integrated sounchip in BIOS before putting audigy back.
Also updating BIOS to newest version before putting Audigy back might help.

If it doesn't boot I would recommend trying clearing BIOS settings. (remove power cord, then BIOS battery, then change jumper next to battery to other position for 5 to 0 seconds and put it back to original position, put battery back...)
If these doesn't help I would say motherboard might be broken. (and integrated sounchip stoppping working was just "prologue")
I have A8N-SLI Deluxe and Audigy 2 ZS (in lowest PCI slot) working without problems.

  • Windows 8 64bit not compatible w/ AMD Athlon 64 processor and/or ASUS A8N-SLI motherboard.

Why should I have to go through a plethora of troubleshooting techniques, then have to settle for using the Windows 8/ 32bit install CD, when I have a 64bit system?  I think it's probably something in the Windows
8 /64bit code that causes it to fail install w/ AMD Athlon 64bit processor, and/or my ASUS A8N-SLI motherboard.  After a lot of hassle I tried the Windows 8 /32bit CD and that seems to work fine.  My real question is, why should I have to settle
    for 32bit on a 64bit system?

I had the same experience trying to install Window 8 Pro 64bit (Build 9200) on an old XP SP3 32bit system, but I somehow got it working; the full story.
I had two XP Sp3 32 bit systems I wanted to upgrade to Window 8 Pro 64 bit (with the $40 upgrade deal available now). System#1 is: I7 920/Asus P6T deluxe/EVGA 560Ti/3GB/1 TB SATA 300 drive/1.44 Floppy/ 12X Bluray burner (pulled the old TV tuner card for
upgrade-incompatible). I ran the Windows 8 upgrade advisor - very few issues (TV Tuner card as mentioned and other software) - bought the upgrade. Downloaded the upgrade from my Win7Pro 64bit system to obtain the 64bit ISO (2.69GB) - burned to DVD. Installed
from DVD; no problems, finished in under 20 minutes - working great (really fast boot!).
System#2 is: Opteron 180/Asus A8N-E/EVGA 275GTX/2GB/1 TB SATA 300 drive/ 1.44 Floppy/ 16X DVD RW burner; the Windows 8 upgrade advisor - more incompatible software than system#1, but no incompatible hardware. I had read a number of blogs concerning the issues
others were having with the upgrade failing, so before I purchased, I thought I would run the 64bit install DVD I had (known to work on the other system) to see if it worked. I should note this system was not-in-use and thus I was not worried if the install
failed (I'd just be annoyed!). Ran the install from the DVD; initial splash screen - no spinning dots - waited 15 minutes (by which time no activity on DVD or hard drive) - failure. Rebooted - entered bios (1010) - tried many combinations of settings up to
disabling nearly everything (NVRAID, Legacy USB, Floppy, Audio97- all disabled / moved SATA into every slot (1-4) / tried SATA 150 and SATA 300 (SATA2, slots 3-4) - no change - failure X4 attempts. Now original XP3 installation is corrupted (GRRRR!) - I should
have imaged the drive BEFORE - oh well. Read more about others experience with this seemingly NForce board-related issue. Plan B - I will try install with an IDE (PATA) hard drive (80GB) - failure. Read more - some mention Window 8 installer not "liking" XP
    partitions / disks (???); Plan C - Re-partition / format / check 80 GB IDE drive with WDTools - attempted Win8Pro install - failure. Dejected; last attempt before considering Win8Pro 32bit - Plan D - Re-partition / format / check 1 TB SATA 300 drive with SeaTools
(Barracuda 32GB buffer-7200rpm) - run Win8PRO 64bit install from DVD (build 9200) - success! Install took nearly an hour, with 3 reboots to the finish. Specifics (install configuration): 1 TB SATA drive in Slot 4 (SATA2), upgraded memory to 4GB Corsair PC3200
(4 slots filled), Two DVD drives on Primary IDE channel (master and slave), secondary IDE channel - no devices, bios (1010) - NVRAID, Audio97,1394 port,LAN -disabled; USB 2.0, USB Legacy, Floppy - enabled, IDE-Auto), TrendNet USB wireless adapter on USB slot
2 (motherboard), EVGA 275GTX in PCIe slot 1, no other cards. System seems to be performing well (fast boot times, no hangs), but as noted, no sound (I actually forgot to re-enable the Audio97 device in bios; it was 2am). I will see if I can get the Audio97
enabled today; my backup is to add a Turtle Beach Montego DDL PCI card (with the Windows7 64bit driver and run in compatiblity mode). Hope this saga might help some others out - good luck.

  • A8N-SLI and TV@nywhere Problem: SEMI-Resolved

Ok...I replaced my K7N2G-ILSR with a A8N-SLI with twin MSI 6600GT's (see sig), and I get nothing but static when trying to use my old TV@nywhere (not a Master). I used the updated drivers, patch, and software from the site.
Does anyone have a clue? It used to work like a charm.
    UPDATE:
Ok, it turned out to be a bad splitter, and now it works. HOWEVER, it's noisy when I surf the web, with static and interference distortion in the picture. I thought it might be the wireless card, so I pulled it, and kept it connected via ethernet, but that didn't fix it.
    Anyone? Bueller?

This is wonderful I just solve my problem with the Remote Control, I Follow the suggestions from this people and my problem is fixed... now I can use it. Thank You very much

  • Which shoul i use? realtek alc 650 or sb live value?

yah i haven't found any decent comparisons or reviews that pit these two sound controllers together and i'm hoping that someone could possibly answer this for me . . .
i have the soundblaster live! value card and there's the realtek alc 650 sound controller on my mobo . . . which one of these two do u guys think is better to use?
can someone compare the two? like which one uses more cpu load, sound quality, etc . . .

Yes ... I am having problems having sound in my video capture ... I downloaded the new SB Live drivers for XP and I found the extraction in my one of the local settings folder.  I've tried different ways to acquire sound in my video captures.
I switched back to the SB Live Value card a few hours ago.
I've got sound now but kind of hit and miss.
I use a Maxtor ATA 133 card and have four ATA 133 60 GB drives sitting on the bottom of my tower. Plus a 40GB and 60GB mounted normallly.  I do use the KT4V-L mobo and the XP 2500-Barton.
HP 9100 cd writer and Sony DRU-500a DVD Burner.
I'm using the LAN on board for DSL.
FANS: One is mounted in back ... I cut the holes out to increase air flow.
Another fan is mounted on side panel ... shooting outside air towards my CPU.
RAM is one stick of Kingston KVR333X64C25/512 DDR Ram
BIOS setting is FSB 166 setting.
System - Mouse hasn't froze up yet ... when it does happen I usually here a small faint sound ... "ping"-"poing" and then the mouse is moves again.  Audio and video playback is also affected when this happens.
I've changed my swap file to one of my 60 GB ATA 133 drives only. Setting is 1000 MB and C-Drive is not included.
I'm really frustated with this freezing up problem.  I've got too many new parts to figure out what is wrong.
WIN XP - KT4V-L MOBO - and new DDR ram are all installed in same time period.
Any suggestions?? ... Mouse hasn't froze up yet after changing Swap file settings.
Have you been to the Black Viper website ???
What do you mean by "Surround Mixer 2" are you refering to the baby blue mixer I saw a few days ago.  I liked the old mixer more.

Someone said about not beeing able to run 3dmark03 sound test with the realtek - right! the SB Live! has 32 hardware voices, can take a much more number of audio inputs (if you have some 5Ghz CPU u can run about 32 winamps at the same time ).
Hmm but you have a VIA... that has problems with SB Live!
I have also, but only in 9x, in XP is working smooth.
About the latency - you can get very close to real time if you install the ASIO drivers but the KK Mixer sucks.

  • Drivers needed for Sound Blaster LIVE VALUE - Model 4780

I had to move my SB Live Value card model 4780 S/N 4780210008722, to another computer and require new drivers for the SB card which has a gaming port.
I have a 3.0 gig IBM Think Center box using Windows XP SP2.
I tried the DOWNLOAD area Creative provided but found the information very confusing as to what drivers and patches to download. First it said to download except if I did not have the original installation drivers (which I don't have), but then it says to download the drivers as an upgrade.
Again, they don't address clearly what I should download for a basic installation which includes use of the game port for use with flying type software. I have 2-3 joysticks consoles i'd like to use on my newer computer using the CT 4780 SB card.

  • XFi No Sound on Asus a8n-sli prem

    hello
I am encountering a horrible problem.
    My specs:
    athlon xp 3800+
asus a8n-sli premium bios revison 0., 6.7 chipset drivers
    evga 7800gtx
    X-Fi Fatality
With a fresh install of windows, i cannot get any sound at all. Originally i notice the video card and the sound card sharing the same IRQ every time and i moved it XFi physically around (different PCI slots) and made sure they each had their own IRQ number.
Despite all my attempts i cannot get any sound out of the card. I disabled the onboard sound and any other ports im not using.
Im really out of ideas and not sure what to do. Mobo has been flashed to latest bios and latest chipset drivers installed. Fresh copy of win xp and im pretty sure everything is correct in the bios. There was newer Evga drivers released this morning and ill install them later but i dont think they are the problem.

  • Asus A8N-SLI Premium and X-FI Platinum no so

So i know this is a known problem but I haven't found a solution yet and don't want to read through the 00 page post on this topic where everyone gets off topic. I have a Asus A8N-SLI Premium with a X-FI Platinum. I have installed the latest BIOS with Asus' update thing. I cannot get the driver off the internet to work because it crashes when it is decompressing. The X-FI card is installed in the second PCI slot, which I read is the slot that works? I have everything installed (driver that came in box) and I get no warning in device manager, but I still get no sound. Can anyone tell me what to do?Asus wouldn't help me. and I guess I can't call Creative because I have had this card for more than 60 days. It was on my old machine and it worked.

This is what I put on the ASUS site. <span class="content">Hello to all,
So I bought this motherboard because my other one (LanParty) would run my memory in dual channel. I spent alot of time trying to get it to but it just wouldn't. So I caved in and bought an ASUS motherboard because of there good reputation of making quality products.
I have a Creative X-Fi Platinum sound card. It work flawlessly with my LanParty mobo but I have not been able to make it work with this ASUS mobo. I have read alot about it and I know that ASUS and Creative know it is a problem. I however have not been able to find a solution. I know there is a way because going through these forums people have said "well it works with mine" but they never give any specs on what is on, what PCI slot, etc etc. I have tried everything you can possibley imagine. I have tried a full reload of the whole system (about 6 times). I have tried different PCI slots. On board sound is disabled. I tried to do some ACPI setting for the computers device driver but it crashes my system.
Here is what I have now.
    Bios version 302.
Sound Card is in PCI slot 2 (2 slots down from where video card goes)
Was there a BIOS fix for this problem? What BIOS was it's
What is the best slot for the card? (I don't have IRQ conflicts)
Can anyone help me? I have nice 5. surround and want good sound to be coming out.
If you have this board and this card can you give me some info on what is configured?
    Thanks
    Leon

  • Does the Weblogic JMS implementation use the Time-To-Live values?

I am trying to send a message to a Queue with a time-to-live. The only way that
I can get this to work is by going into the console, and setting a default value
on either the Queue or the connection factory. But this is not the behavior I
want. I would like to do this programmatically instead so it can be property

I downloaded the JMS spec and saw that you are supposed to set the time to live
when calling the MessageProducer's send message. I did this, but it doesn't work.
Is anybody else having this problem? Does Weblogic's JMS implementation just
ignore this value? Or do I have my Queues and other JMS components set up incorrectly?
P.S. All of my time-to-live overrides are set to -1 in the console, so my time
to live set in the program should be respected.

I was able to track it down to a programming error. Thanks for your help.

  • When peeking for messages, the time to live value seems not to be set. Is this a bug?

I asked this question first on stackoverflow here:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20608061/how-can-i-automatically-expire-messages-on-an-azure-service-bus-subscription
I think this might be a bug.
Steps to reproduce with Service Bus Explorer 2.2.1.0
Connect to a Service Bus Namespace on azure
    Create a new topic "MyTopic"
Create a subscription "Log" under the topic and set the Default Message Time to Live to 5 days.
Right click on the MyTopic topic node and choose "Send messages"
On the "Send messages to MyTopic" screen: click "Start"
    Click the "Log" subscription node
Click the "Messages" button and choose Peek 10
Click the message in the list
Look at the TimeToLive field in the "Message Properties" area
The value is  is 10675199.02:48:05.4775807.  I would have expected a value 5.00:00:00 there.

    Hello,
I got an update from Service Bus Product Group:
This behavior is currently by design and should be seen independent of SDK version: the effective TTL is the minimum TTL of message and entity and is checked at runtime, rather than imprinted on the message at enqueue time (because the entity-level TTL
could be changed at any time after messages were enqueued). The documentation is misleading and should be fixed.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
    Best Regards,
    Bruno.

    - MSI GF FX5600 / 256MB RAM

    - Soundblaster Live! Value (latest Win2k - drivers)
Everything is running fine but I can hear a strange background noise watching DVDs or Playing Nascar2003.
I imagine that the noise is especially strong when the CPU activity is very high.
The Win2k hardware profile shows that the soundcard and the Display are using the same IRQ (11) but I don't know how to give them seperate IRQs
    Thanks for your help!

Raven likely is right - you can narrow this down to 3 possibilities:
    1) The PSU is not strong enough to run a high end proc / mobo / DDR / GF4 FX vid and drives - that sound you here could be all that is left for you sound card to suck and use - that likely is doing damage to your Mobo and Proc - AMD and MSI recommends at least 350W for this reason - the generic PSU don’t have enough amps to push all these devices and the system itself - your choice if you want to damage your system
    2) The IRQ issue worries me too - this means that you likely have assigned IRQ's in your BIOS - therefore this may just be the beginning of your issues - you will likely have Vid Card issues with certain applications and games - I would resolve this issue
    3) What drivers are you running on the Video / Sound cards - try a different driver, if 3rd party - try default - if default - try third party - sometimes a different driver can make all the difference
Note for a XP1800+ runs at 1533mhz not 1833mhz - make sure your BIOS is setup correctly for this - that could also cause you issues unless you have some high end cooling to combat the heat - also check your FSB/ram settings this may also causing some issues
But overall - I think Raven is right - your PSU will be doing more harm than good

  • How can I use a webcam to feed live values (or even better, an average of said values over time) into a subVI?

The values will be read from a digital measurement device, so there shouldn't be much of a problem in recognizing the fonts, I hope.
Ideally, it'd function like this: Webcam is trained on device, and without interaction from the user, labview processes the current data every 30 seconds, converts it to a string, and averages 30-second values over a period of 5 minutes. The average is then given to a VI that would normally poll the user for a value every 5 minutes. I'm trying to close the loop on a control system, and think this is the best way to do it.

If I understand this correctly, you would like to take a picture of a screen every 30 seconds and read some text on that screen. You can do that using the NI Vision Development Module's Optical Character Recognition function palette. This will allow you to create a set of images of each character that you expect to read. You can then train the software to assositate an image of that character with the actual digital character. In this way, the software will be able to read the text. You can read more about this concept in the NI Vision Concepts Help 2013 manual.
Is there any other way to transfer the information from the first computer to the second computer other than using a camera to read the text off a screen? That seems like a strange way to transfer data, but it's possible that you don't have access to the code on the first computer and you can only access it from the front panel. Is that the situation that you are in?
