AAAAH!! phtoshop error causes deletion of the file!!

hi guys.
im using PS 8 and just today i started getting some errors (might be something regarding RAM. i dont remember the error message) that causes the file i was working on to get DELETED from my machine completely!
i have many many crashes when i try to use the magic wand tool that causes PS to crash to desktop but this... this deleting file error is something i cant afford!
anyone can tell me how i can stop these errors from happening?!
i dont even want to think about what i might lose if this keeps happening.... i lost 2 files today that i had to recreate from scratch. god....

The only time that I have encountered any issue with PS and files was with early USB externals. The problem was NOT with PS, but with read/write errors between the laptop and the externals. This was common in the early days of USB, and could still be around. This yielded corrupted files, and not deletions.
For use of externals, I learned to Copy the Assets over to the internals, and work from there. When done, I would just Copy over those Assets to the externals for archiving.
Otherwise, in several decades of using PS, I have never had an issue with any corrupted files on Save, and zero deletions. I agree with Chris - PS does not, and cannot Delete files.
If you are having issues, I'd study your I/O sub-system, i.e. your HDD's, the controller type, free space, speed, etc., and look for issues there.
Also, on a well-maintained machine, PS is virtually crash-proof. If you are getting crashes, something is wrong, and I would study the system very closely. This ARTICLE will give you tips on finding clues as to what is happening, when you get a crash. Be sure to follow ALL links in the error and warning messages. Your clues are likely in those. If all fails, be sure to follow the link at the bottom to The Case of the Unexplained. Though a bit long, it is entertaining and informative, plus it will give you a toolkit to use to troubleshoot.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Acrobat 11 there was an error opening this document. the file is damaged and could not be repaired

we are receiving an error when opening certain pdfs saying "there was an error opening this document. the file is damaged and could not be repaired"
i've tried a few things to fix this issue with no luck
tried on a brand new windows 7 install without any added software like anti-virus software, etc
tried on my home pc (I forwarded the document from my work pc to my home pc and still receiving the same error)
don't think it's anything related to the computers, thinking it's more an issue with the pdf. i've tried the basics like deleting temp files from IE, going to %temp% and deleting that out, doing an acrobat repair, trying in reader instead of acrobat, updating users from acrobat 10 to 11, and still receiving the same issue. the odd thing is, some people can open this document and some receive the error. the other thing is i've tried alternative pdf programs with no avail, same errors from those as well
i work on the helpdesk with one other person  for the company and not sure what else we can try
don't think this is a pc issue - tried on pcs in the company, home pcs, personal pcs and all get this error
got to be an issue with either the pdf, or the way its being sent
i did reach out to OUR e-mail team here (lotus notes admin) and they've ruled out anything as far as an encryption causing the conflict may go, so notes isn't the issue either
would it be possible it's on the persons end that's sending the file?

Unfortunately, CR 10.5 is not supported on WIN 2012 Server. See this wiki for more details. In order to work in a supported environment you will have to upgrade to CR 2008 Service pack 7, or SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio (2010 / 2012 / 2013).

  • I can't get my music to play in my itunes. It comes with a exclamation mark next to the song numbers and says that the original songs can't be played cause cant find the file. How do I get the songs back? (I found the files)

I can't get my music to play in my itunes. It comes with a exclamation mark next to the song numbers and says that the original songs can't be played cause cant find the file. How do I get the songs back? (I found the files

You get exclamation marks or dead tracks because  iTunes can’t find the file. This can happen for a number of reasons:
The song file or a folder in its path was renamed
The song file or the folder it is in has been moved
The song file has been deleted
The device containing the song files e.g. external drive is not accessible or the drive letter has changed.
If you use an external drive, a change in drive letter is a common cause and you need to change it back.
AS a way of working out what has happened, right click on a track and select the summary tab (you will have to go past an error message). The summary tab will tell you where iTunes thinks the track is located. How does that compare with where the track actually is?
The xml library file is not used by iTunes, it is created to allow other programs to access the library. You can recreate the iTl file from the xml file, but there is no point if the location of the files is wrong.
There is a simple way of getting you music back in iTunes, but it loses all playlists counts and rating. To do this drag iTunes library.itl and iTunes Library.xml to your desktop. Then open iTunes and an empty library is created. Add you iTunes Media folder to it.
If you can't work out what went wrong and how to fix it, you may have to do this.

  • Message'there was an error opening this document. The file cannot be found'

Using xp home and when I click to download the pdf file, it will give 3 options been 'open'/'save'/?. When I choose the 'open' option, it will give me the above message "there was an error opening this document. The file cannot be found"
owever if I choose to "save" and I will be able to open the file and read it. In this pc its using Adobe Reader 8.1.2 with a patch. It was working fine prior to this sudden occurance of the error.
Strangely I have another pc with the same specification, I was able to choose "open" and be able to read the file. Can anyone help to resolve the issue by using the "open' option instead of "save, then open". Greateful for your prompt response.

Fyi, in addition to my earlier post, the other pc is using Adobe 8.1.1 and no other patch. I was trying to find 8.1.1 version but could not find a trust worthy site to load from. Do you think the error caused by using the 8.1.2 version? Thanks

  • How can I delete all the files in the Adobe CS4 Master Collection from my machine?

How can I delete all the files in the Adobe CS4 Master Collection from my machine. I have tried Control Panel but it will not do anything, there are no error messages, it is like as if it is ignoring my instruction. Why should it be so difficult to delete programs one does not want. Any ideas please.

  • Error occurred while converting the file...

So, it seems like every CD that I tried importing over the last couple of days at some point caused the software to stop and go:
Error occurred while converting the file "[Track name here]". An unknown error occurred (-50).
Has a solution been found for this? Have others experienced this problem? How do I fix this?

Importing problems have been rife in the recent iTunes release.
Not sure how to solve your problem, but until a solution comes along feel free to rip in another program, such as Windows Media Player, and add the resulting MP3s to your iTunes library.

  • "Error occurred while converting the file "song name."

While trying to import 3 different CD's into iTunes, the message "Error occurred while converting the file "song name. The required folder cannot be found." The song name is the first song of each of the CD's I tried to import. Have imported over 3,000 songs and never had this happen before. Help?

I think I found out why this happens. I am using an external hard drive, not sure if this is relevant, but I believe so. I went into iTunes and deleted the songs, and asked that they be deleted from the library as well. Got same message when I tried to re-import. Went on to the external hard drive, where library is located, and none of the songs had been deleted. Deleted the songs, as well as the albums folder, re-imported, no problems. Hope that helps.

  • Error occurred while converting the file ".." An unknown error occurred -50

I've had a few tracks which seem to skip on my ipod but play perfectly fine on itunes.
As a result, I've been converting these tracks to ACC files; this has worked for a few files but for one particular album i get the following:
+error occurred while converting the file ".." An unknown error occurred -50+
I've tried renaming the files, I re-created my playlist but nothing works.
    Thanks in advance.

    *Skipping songs*
The iPod seems to fail to play all of the occasional track that iTunes, and indeed other PMPs, are happy to play. There is probably some minor technical error in the internal structure of the file which is normally ignored by other playback software but causes the Classic to bail out.
You may like to try scanning the files with MP3 Validator which can find & fix some internal MP3 errors.
Some users have also suggested that completely removing all id3 tags and then replacing the information can be a solution. This can be achieved in iTunes by selecting an affected track, right/option clicking and using the option Convert id3 tags > None. Since some files may mistakenly have more than one tag you may need to repeat this action. Once you have confirmed that no tag is present you can replace the tag information using Convert id3 tags > V2.3 (I believe it is recommended to avoid using V2.4).
Personally I have found files for which these solutions don't work. In this case the workaround is either to re-rip the tracks or get iTunes to re-encode the file, e.g. convert AAC to MP3 or vice versa and sync the newly encoded file to the iPod instead. Because transcoding will cause a loss of fidelity you should keep your original file so that if a future iPod firmware resolves this issue you can put your original files back onto the iPod.

In ITunes 12, while trying to import from CDs I keep getting this message "error occurred while converting the file "song name". The required folder cannot be found". It will import 2 or 3 or 5 songs and then this message. I have tried multiple CDs, a few seem to work fine, but most don't import completely.

I think I found out why this happens. I am using an external hard drive, not sure if this is relevant, but I believe so. I went into iTunes and deleted the songs, and asked that they be deleted from the library as well. Got same message when I tried to re-import. • HP scanning error: "An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to..

HP scanning error: “An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to.  Check the properties for the file to make sure it is not read-only.” Dr. Google finds others with this problem.  Some claim that this is caused by an upgrade of Apple OS10 (which I did do).  One claims that HP has a "patch" for this problem. If I try to quit HP scan, it won't quit and freezes my computer. Here's the odd thing.  I have no problem scanning in a colored page from Scientific American either before or after this error (after rebooting each time), but simple black and white documents started just today to give the error message above.

Thank you for the link however if I understood all of the instructions I would still be reluctant to try this on my own especially from a third unknown party where some of the information may be wrong and/or lost in translation. (Google translation at the end of this comment). The instructions say to uninstall the software.  So if I uninstall the original HP software am I using the original disk to reinstall and then personalize again? What about all of the updates since I originally installed the software? I found the Disk Utility but what is "gatekeeper"And I am using OS X 10.9.1 that is current because I downloaded the latest upgrade.  How would I reinstall it?And at what point do I go to the URL for the software drivers and the patch? This is just not practical for someone who is not proficient in troubleshooting applications.I switched to Apple because I don't want to have to go through this kind of process, take my time to fix the application and potentially mess up my system .  WHy should I have to try to figure out how to retrieve the normal function in this case, of my All-In-One. If it is so simple why can't HP develop the fix and make it available? Unfortunately right now I have to find an alternative to scan some important business documents that are due today. Since I am using an older printer by technology standards even though it is working fine I may be looking for a replacement and HP may no longer be at the top of my list given that the problem appears to affect other HP models. No need to answer my questions,  I'm not going to try this fix based on these instructions. Please HP provide a fix for this problem with the scanner and MAC OS X 10.9.1 compatibility! Translation of the information on the suggested link: We hereby send you a guide that should help you in solving the problem .Please carry the following: 1 Please uninstall the software again .Goto -> Programs - > Hewlett -Packard - > HP Uninstaller 2 Please repair permissions on your Mac .Go -> Utilities -> Disk Utility - > Repair Disk Permissions . 3 Please disable ' gatekeeper ' on your Mac . 4 Reinstall the full software for MAC 10.6 and patch for 10.7 / 10.8 / 10.9. HP Scanjet Software and Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6 features :http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/ ? sp4ts.oid = 457 534 & spf_p.tpst = swdMain & spf_p.prp_swdMain = wsrp - navigationalState 3Di % dx % 253D % 257CswItem % 253Dsj_78355_5 % 257CswEnvOID % 253D219 % 257CitemLocale % 253D % 253D % % 257Cs wLang 257Cmode % 253D % 257Caction % 253DdriverDocument & javax.portlet.begCacheTok = com.vignette.cachetoken & javax.portlet.endCacheTok = com.vignette.cachetoken

  • Error: Could not find the file "flash.ocx"

I have been receiving the error COULD NOT FIND THE FILE
"FLASH.OCX" for the past couple of months - I have been watching
the message boards and have seen a lot of "fixes" and beta's come
up errors (not sure that it's this exact error though).
I get this error continuously throughout the day - no matter
if I have nothing running on my computer or I have 10 things open.
This morning it occurred to me that my screen saver is not coming
on and it seems to me that the above errror is popping up everytime
my screen saver should start. I HAVE TIMED THIS TODAY AND CHANGED
HOW LONG BEFORE MY SCREEN SAVER STARTS - AND IT IS DEFINITELY
GETTING THE ERROR EVERYTIME THE SCREEN SAVER IS TRYING TO START.
Last week, I deleted the version of Flash that I had and then
    re-installed; still getting the error.
I was getting the error when I had IE6 so I thought maybe
switching to IE7 would correct it - but it didn't (that was a few
    weeks ago).
My computer does not freeze up but it is SOOO annoying to
continually throughout the day get this error.

    PLEASE HELP!

Ah-ah! The workaround is to map my network folder to a drive, say... M:\
So, when I select Edit->Edit in Audition->Sequence, I can select the Browse button to alter the Path destination. Instead of seeing '\\Zeus\Projects\...', I select the mapped M: drive so the path reads 'M:\Projects\...' instead.
Then, Audition loads and is able to find the sequence or clip.
    So... that solves my problem!

    Hi,
Looks like your mmc dll is corrupted, with your install and uninstall of software.
    Two Options:
    1. Upgrade the Kernel with latest Patch level, which comes with new SAPMMC.dll file
    OR
    2. Just download the SAPMMC*.sar file from service market place and extract in exe directory, since it is windows re-booting the server doesn't hurt.
Hope this helps. points are welcome.
