AAC files from iTunes 7 won't play on third party player

I use my Sony Ericsson W900i as my main digital audio player, and since i have upgraded to iTunes 7 i have found that any file that i have imported or converted into the standard (128Kbps) AAC format (and then transferred) will not play on my W900i. However, my W900i has no problem playing AAC files encoded with any previous versions of iTunes.
Can anyone tell me the possible reasons for this (is it to do with gapless palyback?) and let me know if there is any way of solving this problem.

Thanks, Kay. Here's what I found after trying your suggestions:
First, I was using CD-R, and I know that's important.
Second, I double checked and yes, I was burning to AudioCD.
Third, I tried new CD-R media, et voilla!, it worked (first media was Maxell CD-R Music CD, and what worked was Sony CD-R). But here's the catch. Before upgrading to iTunes 5, CDs I had burned using the Maxell CD-R Music CDs worked fine in the player (still do). Now they don't. What could possibly cause that behavior? I thought a CD-R was pretty much a CD-R, and further, that the software should work pretty much the same re: how it burns to different media, even after an upgrade. Guess I'm wrong on at least one account.
BTW, I don't want to blame iTunes 5 as I don't know for sure, but I have had lots of crashes and kernal panics since upgrading...

Song purchased from iTunes Store won't play on my computer

Several people have posted variations on this question but I haven’t been able to find a coherent explanation of, or fix for, the problem.
I have downloaded all my CDs into iTunes and synched them to my iPod. Everything downloaded from CDs plays fine.
I bought and downloaded one song from the iTunes store. It appears on playlists, but I cannot play it using iTunes. When I click on it I get the blue highlighting but nothing happens when I click on the “Play” arrow. (I can play it using Quick Time). My computer is authorized.
When I synch the iPod, I get the error message “(song) was not copied to the iPod (my iPod) because it cannot be played on the iPod.”
I noticed that the files copied from CDs are .m4a files and the file downloaded from the iTunes store that won’t play is an .m4p.
I think this is some kind of rights issue. Can anyone explain what the problem is? Thanks in advance.

The trick of deleting the song to the Recycle Bin, dragging it to the Desktop and then back into iTunes worked. My guess is that because our computer was not authorized at the time of the purchase (this was our first purchase from the iTunes Store), the original file downloaded in a protected format. The computer has since been authorized, so the Recycle Bin ruse tricks iTunes into thinking it's a new file. I would still like to hear a confirmation of this from someone who knows though. Also, Apple should tell people to authorize their computers before making any purchases. It will save some confusion it seems.

I purchased a song from iTunes on my iPhone 5. I've synced it with my computer. My iTunes won't let it play and gives me a message saying the my computer isn't authorzied to play the song. To get my Audio working I do
• only use .aiff 44.1kHz or 48kHz
• .mp3, .wma etc - all I convert to .aiff first
• from iTune - I do - Collect needed audio into a new PlayList - Then I burn this as an Audio-CD (not .mp3 - only .aiff) - then I use the files from this Audio-CD in my movie projects
And by doing like this - I have very few Audio problems.

Apple TV 2nd gen. When I rented movies from iTunes they won't play - says Loading error please try again later .....but never works

I rented two movies on my apple TV 2nd gen. and they won't play.
When we try to play them it tries to load it and then says there is a loading error and try again later, but it never works.
Has anyone else had similar? Does anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it?

ITunes CDs won't play on HiFi CD player

Apologies for cross posting. I originally posted this to the installation discussion by mistake.
I recently installed the 5.0 update for iTunes on my G3/400 (Pismo) and since then cds I burn from playlists don't play on my Rotel cd player. They play fine on the computer. Basically, the hi-fi player doesn't recognize there's a cd in it.
Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? I've burned straight to cd from iTunes using the Audio CD option, so it should play fine (I've checked and rechecked that the Audio CD is selected as the Preferences option). CDs I burned under earlier versions have played fine.

Music will not play after ios5 update, it still appears there but will not play...if I select a song, it jumps to another song but will not play anything. Also, if I try to play any of the files on the phone from iTunes they won't play either...help!!

Movie Downloads from iTunes Store won't play on my Mac or iPhone

Have just downloaded my Star Trek digital copy from the iTunes store; it is sitting on my Mac's hard drive as a .m4v file of nearly 2Gb; seems OK. However, if I click on 'play' in iTunes it shows a progress bar playing in iTunes & in the separate movie window I get a blank screen & no sound. I then sync'ed it with my iPhone & when I go into the iPod on the iPhone & play the movie I get the error "This movie could not be played". I have some podcasts on the Mac & iPhone & they work OK on both platforms.
Now I understood that the .m4v format was alright to play on both my Mac & on the iPhone but it's not working for me...anyone encountered this before / got any ideas pls?

Same issue. I've been buying TV shows and movies on iTunes for a long time and copying them to my iPhone to watch on my TV. A few days ago, I tried to move a rented movie to my iPhone the same way I always did, click the "move" button next to the movie under the movies tab for the iPhone in iTunes when iPhone was connected and then click "apply". It would do a quick sync without copying anything.
I thought I had a bum file, so I e-mailed Apple support and they reset the purchase so that I could redownload, which I'm doing now.
But my recently downloaded episodes of Lost will also not copy to my iPhone. AND they will not even play on my iMac. When I try to play them, it shows only a grey screen with a progress bar. TV shows and movies purchased and downloaded weeks or months ago still play fine.
No changes have been made to my system. After the rented movie didn't play and copy, I did a update check and downloaded and installed the latest versions of iTunes and the iPhone firmware. That didn't fix it. I have the newest versions of the Quicktime and iTunes. The computer is authorized for these purchases. The iPhone is authorized.
I've looked at similar threads and have not found a solution. I'm stumped. If anyone has a solution let me know.

The iPod TV out only works for aps that support TV out. The description of Hulu Plus only states that iiPad supports HDMI video out (SD only)

How do I transfer an aac file from iTunes to my iPhone5?

I created two ringtones on my HTC Evo with Zedge and saved them on my computer. I saved them in iTunes in the music library. I was able to get them on the iPhone as music. How can I get them to work as ringtones? Also, how can I add the two ringtones that I made to the Ringtone folder on iTunes?

Well, I solved my own problem. Read an article on how to convert the files to .mr4, and they went right into the Ringtone folder on iTunes!

.mov files from my mac won't play on windows

I created a PowerPoint CD with many .mov movies which I saved as a PowerPoint show (.pps). This powerpoint program will play on Windows but the movies will not play. Windows machine has QuickTime but Error message says I need QuickTime and H.264 decoder. Tried this with no success. Also tried QuickTimeAlt190. Help.

HT2953 When I burn a CD from iTunes, it doesn't play on my CD player! What am I doing wrong?

I see the folder on my desktop, and I click on burn to cd. I put in a Imation CD-r 1x-52x, 700MB 80 min, and when I take it to a cd player, nothing is on it! I tried the cd player w/ another cd and it plays just fine. I tried this 3x w/ just two songs...any suggestions?

Since this is purchased music, you have 2 choices only audio or data CD. I suspect you are burning to data CD & that's why your Alpine locked up. Data discs are only used for backup purposes. Go to your iTunes preferences, then advanced>burning tab, make sure you are set for an audio CD under the burning tab. An audio CD should be recoginized by any car or home stereo.

MPEG audio file from Itunes U not playing on my Shuffle. :(

Some of the lectures on Itunes U are in MPEG audio file (format: MPEG-2 layer 3). I cannot seem to play this on my Shuffle (2nd gen). I tried converting to ACC using preference and the right click, but it does not work. Is there any other way? Thanks.

I just realized that also the ACC files from Itunes U won't work on my shuffle. When I press Play, it alternates green-orange flash which indicates that there are no music. ???
