AAF export in Soundtrack Pro 2

Has anyone managed to export an AAF from Soundtrack Pro 2 that can be opened in Pro Tools ??
I've tried 3 different TDM systems (2 running 6.4 ProTools & 1 Running 7.3.1) & a Pro Tools LE 7.3.1. Everytime Pro Tools unexpectedly quits
Any ideas..
PS It crashes an AVID too

Oh .. ****
Thanks!

  • Exporting from Soundtrack Pro - Trouble

I am having problems exporting from Soundtrack Pro. I haven't had these problems before.
I have tried to export a track to MP3 and to Compressor but all I get is the Exporting window and that's as far as it goes. It says, 'Time Remaining: Estimating...' but then that's it. I had even left it for a few hours and still nothing happened.
The program isn't frozen, just the export isn't working. Is this a common problem? Can it be fixed?
    Many thanks.

    I have the same problem...
I finished working on a project and when I tried to export it - it would start out just, tell me that it would be done in less than a minute and the just suddenly stop 1/4 of the way for no reason. Same thing happens whatever I do - in the same exact place. I spent a lot of time finishing this edit so I really want to get it back to FCP.
    Can anyone help?

  • Media Disappears After Exporting to Soundtrack Pro

I have an HD project I'm working on that was shot on the HVX200. The files have been converted and imported into FCPS2 and the edit went fine. Then I tried to export the sequence to Soundtrack Pro for audio editing and clips started disappearing from the drive. The only solution I have found is to re-convert and import the files.
This has happened twice now and all the same files. What's happening? Does anyone know of a way to prevent this?

Reports of this strange file disappearing behavior surface every few months and almost always involve having both apps (STP and FCP) open at the same time. Speculation has been that somewhere in the round trip, FCP gets confused and believes the original files are renders and are deleted. And when FCP deletes something, it is gone.
The work around has been to make sure that both apps are not running at the same time - i.e. export your file from FCP then close FCP. Launch STP, make changes then export back and close STP. Launch FCP, import edited file back in and continue on your merry way.
This is a pain for certain. The other way is make sure you always have a set of the media stored offline (which you would anyway with P2 sourced files) and simply do an offline/online reconnect when the files go missing.
    Good luck.

  • Corrupted audio when exporting in Soundtrack Pro 2.0.2

Hello, I am a sound designer and have been evaluating Soundtrack Pro 2.0.2 as an alternative to Pro Tools (I work with video editors who use FCP). The program has been working well until I have tried to export my work.
I have created a project containing audio of the same sample rate as both the project and the computer's hardware - 48kHz (eliminating a problem already highlighted by others) and using no DSP. Although realtime playback is fine, the exported audio contains blocks silence as well as wrongly mixed levels.
I have noticed firstly that the problem changes depending on where the loop markers are set. The problem is sometimes eliminated if there is a reasonable amount of silence at the beginning and end of the region being exported. Secondly, I notice that fades are not being exported correctly - either being exported as silence or as full level (as if there is no fade applied).
I have also tried using Soundtrack Pro version 1, and this exports fine. It's worth noting, however, that this version of the software does not allow the user to apply fades to the audio (without opening and editing the waveform itself).
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I know the problem you mean - the plugin settings are lost when exporting. I think this is a separate issue that has been fixed. An example of the problem would be when adding a fade to a sound, and then exporting. The fade portion of the sound would export as silence, but the rest of the sound would export fine. Very bizarre, and if no-one else is experiencing it, possibly it is to do with my machine. Unfortunately it makes the software unusable for me. My colleague, who is running the same setup as me, has exactly the same problem.
The main thing I like about Soundtrack is the ability to add effects non-destructively to each sound, and then go back and edit each effect later on. Also, the video display is good- showing you the video at the beginning and end of a sound when moving it, plus also where your mouse pointer is clicked. It has the potential to be a very good program.
Pro Tools HD is very good but very expensive. I know some people who don't like it, so I think its down to personal preference. It is used in every professional studio I have worked in, making it good for compatibility. You also won't find nasty bugs like the one i've described in Soundtrack - they've been developing the software for a long time. Personally, I find Pro Tools very quick to work with and very stable. Also, I would recommend Pro Tools LE if you're not going to be restricted by 48 tracks and lack of surround mixing.

  • Can I export my Soundtrack Pro audio files, including the video?

I'm new to soundtrack pro 2, could I export my audio files including the video?
I tried, but all i get was audio...
    thanks!

Export -> Master Mix - choose the File Type -> *Using Compressor*, this will give you options for re-encoding or preserving the video file.

  • Urgent: Can't export to SoundTrack Pro

This is really driving me crazy. Until 2 days ago, FCP and Soundtrack Pro were working together seamlessly.
Now, when I go to "Send" a sequence to Soundtrack, everything seems to be going fine, the progress bar is cranking, but when it hits 100% it tells me there was an error exporting to SoundtrackPro. The error window doesn't give any details.
This happens EVERY time. Whether I am exporting an Audio File Project or a MultiTrack Project.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi,
I was wondering; did you ever solve your problem ? By trashing FCP preference and cash files for instance. Perhaps your problems started to occur after an automatic software update and you can relate it to that moment ? (You're on 10.4.4 right ?)
10.4.4 and the latest software updates have caused me nothing but problems and stange behaviour so far and believe me, I'm know a "little bit" about Apple software and solving problems. I think we might have to wait 'till 10.4.5. + Pro Application support 3.2 to get everything and running again
Nevertheless, I hope you've already got your SoundTrack up-and-running again, Cheers JFP

  • Exporting from FCP to Soundtrack Pro looses files!!!

I'm working on a project shot on an f900 HD camera with the tapes downconverted to HD-DVCPro to quicktimes. I sb-clipped the QT and I re-synced the audio with the .wav tracks recorded on set. My sequence is set up for a .wav project. I've exported a sequence from FCP by using both Send to Soundtrack Pro and exporting to Soundtrack pro. In both cases I received an error and when I went back to FCP some of my clips were gone. They weren't in the trash or in the Capture folder> I did a search for the file names and they had vanished, or had been renamed. Anyone had this problem before? Should I dump the STP then re-install it? I'll look at Apple support page. Is there a problem between the .wav and aiff? Can Soundtrack Pro bring in .wav or is it only aiff?

  • Missing Source files when exporting to Soundtrack and LiveType

An extremely frustrating "glitch" has occurred. When exporting to LiveType or Soundtrack, I receive and error message telling me that one or more of my source files are missing. I had been editing with these files in FCP 5 for the past few days with no problems. Initially I had no problem exporting to LiveType. Yet, today when I exported to Soundtrack Pro and subsequently LiveType, my source files just disappear. I have found some references to this issue in the discussions, but found no solution. If someone has found a solution since the last posting, please inform of it.

Export the clip using current settings.
Then open that in LT, and work with it independently.
Then export is and import it into FCP and use it to replace the original clip in the sequence.

  • Soundtrack Pro AAF export resolution only at 16bit?

    Hi
Can anyone confirm to me that the latest Soundtrackpro 2.0.2, audio AAF export is only available in 16bit resolution and not in 24bit resolution?
    Thanks!
    Xske

Finally found the answer. The recording was done at 48, the audio/MIDI settings were set to 48, but the sampling setting on the export was not, causing everything else to break down. Once all three matched the export worked and the playback audio worked without opening the clip editing screen.

  • OMF files and AAF files from AVID not working in soundtrack Pro 2

OMF files from avid work in Logic studio but always need converting to 44.1K so are useless.
In Soundtrack Pro I can't get them in without about a million glitches. First of all it creates about four clips of every audio clip and dumps them in bulk at the begining of the time line in a great big jumble (sometimes it's not visible). Audio clips are often not selectable and it doesn't take the timecode from the OMF. It's a mess, don't apple test these things?
AAF - (files that I have checked do work on other systems) I can't get to work at all.
I can't export AAF or OMF either, even though the manuals say I can.

Look in the Utilities folder for Apple Loops Utility. The manual is in under the Help menu of that app.

  • Export a file from Final Cut Pro for friend in Soundtrack Pro

I have a video artist who I am helping with audio. At first we just used an omf file that worked great, it's just a pain to get all the levels/automation reset. Is there an easy way to do this with Final Cut to Soundtrack Pro? Thanks a million

Final Cut Pro has an OMF export function: File > Export > Audio to OMF.
There is also: File > Export > For Soundtrack
and: File > Send To > Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Project.

  • Export from final cut 4.5 to soundtrack pro

I cannot seem to get my audio to export correctly to soundtrack pro 1.0.1 from final cut 4.5.HD. It is bounced out as a stereo file.
when i export to STP it mixes the audio.
can some one share a work flow for getting audio tracks into STP from FCP 4.5 and keep the tracks seperate?
    TIA - Jeremy

maybe i am doing something wrong. i went to the sequence. i cntrl-click the seq and select export aif(s). i did not choose stereo mix.. it still made only one track of audio and left the other 3 alone. maybe it was a mix of all, but i did not test since i only saw one file in the folder. i am new to this concept. i have only mixed music (not sound for video). i saw in the manual for final cut 4 that there is a section in the sequence settings that you could change the numbers of outputs for the sequence. so i set to 1-2, 3-4 since i have a delta 44 (not the best i know). i did the export the same as before. i now have blah1_2.aif and blah3_4.aif. blah1_2.aif has sound (do not know if it is stereo mix or just the audio 1 and audio 2 of the dv file, but blah3_4.aif has nothing. it is a blank file. i am totally confused.

  • Soundtrack Pro freezes on save and export after upgrading to 10.6

After an eternity, I knew it was time to upgrade my OS. I did so about a week ago. This week, I went to use Soundtrack Pro. It opens, and seems to function normally, but when I click either save or export, the glorious rainbow deathwheel appears. I don't know that this is directly related to the upgrade, but that's the only thing I've done that I think could have affected it.
I'm thinking of pulling another upgrade, but with it not working at present, I'm doubtful that an upgrade could "fix" anything that a previous upgrade broke.
Any idea what I can do?
    Thanks.

Same problem (with Soundtrack Pro 3.0.1).  Attempting to export to MP3.  Did it successfully as recently as a week ago.  Don't recall any major update in the OS since then.  Followed the guidelines above with no success because (according to my computer) the .pkg file downloaded from Apple seems to be corrupted.  Any guidance?
    Thanks!

  • Export tracks from FCP X to Soundtrack Pro

Recording audio on a Canon 7D as guide track and also on a Zoom H4N (sometimes two sources: mic and wireless).  Syncing them is easy enough in Plural Eyes (I find that syncing them in FCP X is sometimes off a frame or two).
I want to edit the audio in Soundtrack Pro. I need to export all of the audio tracks (including the audio from the Canon in case I need some of it).  Using Share I can't seem to get anything but all the audio sources blended together.  How can I export all of the audio tracks separately but still in sync? I want to be able to work with all of the separate audio sources in Soundtrack Pro?

  • Conforming in Soundtrack Pro and Exporting to Final Cut

    Hello.
I have a question on the conforming proces.
After I have conformed my project in Soundtrack Pro, I export it to Final Cut. When it arrives in Final Cut, the audio is perfect, but for some reason it exported the video from the earlier project -- not the conformed project.
Does anyone know how to fix this and make it so that when the conformed project arrives in Final Cut, it brings both the conformed audio and the conformed video?
    Thank you!!
    Brian

    hey there MHASH,
sounds like you're using Soundtrack Pro. this is the Soundtrack Discussion. you should post your question in the Soundtrack Pro discussion.
