AAMLauncherUtil Icon continues to appear in the LaunchPad on MacOS

When I first installed Adobe Acrobat XI Pro trial, in my LaunchPad was created a folder "Other" in the LaunchPad, which contained two icons... one was AAMLauncherUtil and the other I have now forgotten what it was.  At some point after I had converted my trial into a yearly subscription, I clicked on the AAMLauncherUtil and it had a dialog popup that said it was downloading an update.
What this "Update" did was install Creative Cloud, after which the second icon (which name I can not remember now) had a question mark superimposed on it, and no longer functioned.
I called Support and the person I reached told me to just drag both this icons to the Trash, which I did, and I think both the icons disappeared.  Later the next day I noticed that the AAMLauncherUtil icon was back in the Launcher and could not be dragged to the Trash.  When I double click on it, what occurs is that Creative Cloud opens.
I called Adobe Support, and the technician tried a lot of things to get rid of this icon, including going into the "~/Library" and deleting everything he could find that had the name AAMLauncherUtil on it, and trying to uninstall and reinstall Creative Cloud.  None of this caused the AAMLauncherUtil icon to go away, and all it really did is trash my Creative Cloud installation, and resulted in an error message appearing when the AMLauncherUtil icon saying that the Creative Cloud was necessary to resolve this problem and that the Creative Cloud installation was damaged.
Eventually about an hour or more, the  technical support person and the people I could hear giving him advice in the background decided that they didn't know how to fix it, and would escalate the case which they created (Case Number: 185689167) to a higher level of technical support, who they claimed would call me within 24 hours or send me an email.  Of course, as seems normal operation since they claimed in relation to another issue last week that they were going to call also, they never called or emailed.
The next day I called Apple Support and the technician there helped me to repair the Creative Cloud installation  by running a Creative Cloud uninstallation tool from the Adobe website, and redownloading the Creative Cloud installer and reinstalling it.  Nevertheless, the AAMLauncherUtil icon remains in the LauchPad, and if you shut down Creative Cloud and double click on this
AAMLauncherUtil icon, it does start Creative Cloud.  One would think that if starting Creative Cloud is what that icon is supposed to do, that it would change it's name to something more in line with what it actually does.
Has anyone else experienced something similar... or has this icon in LaunchPad also?

i fix it ,go to applications\utilities there will be Adobe Application Launcher(AAMLauncherUtil) delete it

Yes, all I can tell you is that Finder does not have that function in ML. Your system is "working as expected".

  • When I touch an icon, a square appears around the icon - can't slide the screen

I have the newest iPad and the screen is locked on the home screen.  When I try to slide the screen to the left to show other pages on my iPad it doesn't work.  Infact, when I touch an icon, a square appears around the icon, I have to double tap the icon in order for it to open.  When I go to settings thinking that something on the settings got messed around with, I can't move the screen up using my fingers, I can't move it up at all in fact.
Should I try to remove the sim card to see if it will reset itself?  i have tried to turn it on and off.  If I remove the sim card, will I lose everything on my iPad?
    Someone please help,
    Thanks,
    Rob

That's a new one......Removing your sim card would not likely have any effect on this and no, even if you removed your sim card, you would not lose data from iPad.
The first thing I'd try is to reboot your iPad:  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for about 10 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart (you won't lose any data or settings).  See if your iPad operates normally after it comes back up.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • OSX Mountain Lion: Running app icons do not appear in the dock

It's almost 2-3 days that I have found when I run an application in OS X Mountain Lion, the application icon does not appear in the dock. In other words, the icons in the dock remain unchanged and no other running application icon appear in the dock. Does anyone else have the same issue?
I appreciate your time to answer my question.

Since you're having issues in multiple accounts I suggest you repair the HD and re-install the OS. ML makes the process pretty painless.
Boot up holding command-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
The screen should give you these choices...
    Restore from TM backup
    Reinstall Mac OS X
    Get help online
    Disk Utility
First choose DIsk Utility and run Repair Disk. If you find errors run it until all errors are fixed or it reports "Disk cannot be repaired".
Then, choose Reinstall OS X. This will be an install in place and won't affect any of your own data.

  • Bootcamp disk icon does not appear in the System Preferences/Startup Disk. Any help ideas ?

Everything works fine but the Bootcamp disk icon does not appear in the System Preferences/Startup Disk.
When I am in Win7 I am easily rebooting my iMac by right-clicking on the Bootcamp icon.
When I am in Mac OS I wish to do same but that Bootcamp icon does not appear. Everytime I am restarting my iMac and pressing on the Option key to select the Windows disk.
Does anyone have an idea how to adjust to bring the Bootcamp icon to the Startup Disk panel ?

Use BootChamp instead; perhaps you have an NTFS 3rd party driver installed and has its own control panel.

  • After installing an App, the icon does not appear on the desktop?

After installing an App, the icon does not appear on the desktop? Where would I find it?

Some people have found that an app (usually iBooks for some reason) hasn't appeared on a homescreen until after the iPad has been reset and has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Also depending on what the app is have you got an age rating set in Settings > General > Restrictions that is hiding it ?

  • Have a 10.6.8 mac and the icloud icon does not appear on the system preferences

    Hello,
I have a 10.6.8 mac and the icloud icon does not appear on the system preference, even if I'ved upgraded the software.
    Renee

The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mavericks preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is now non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price (though it's reported to have been removed from sale in some countries so may well cease to be available generally) but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Mavericks are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6 won't appear on the Launchpad

I upgraded to CS6 yesterday and could install the programmes properly. Once I launchpad to start using the new Phptoshop though, I couldn't find it anywhere. I moved the app outside the CS6 subfolder and placed it into the actual apps folder. It didn't appear anyway and this way I wasn't able to launch the app neither.
Has anyone experienced the same thing? Did anyone find a solution to it? Thanks in advanced! :)

    1. Make a short cut from photoshop, to photoshop, in the photoshop folder in the application folder
    2. Run Launchpad and see the icon
    3. Delete the short cut
    4. Run Launchpad - no icon
    5. Drag the read photoshop app on top of the launchpad icon on the doc
    6. All done - very annoying

  • After installing FF 6.02 on Windows 7, the icon does not appear on the desktop and the program does not appear in the All Programs menu

I just received a new laptop running windows 7 home premium and wanted to install Firefox on it. I tried to install the most recent version. When i installed 6.0.2, the icon did not appear on my desktop (it was a hidden file in my desktop folder) and the program group does not appear in the start menu's All Programs list. The program *does* run though, at least it did a few times. This happened whether i installed as administrator or not. Installing firefox 3.6.22, though, DID create the program group and desktop icon, and upgrading from there removed them again. installing other programs (e.g. vlc, trillian, etc.) did not cause this behavior. I also tried this both with and without McAfee's realtime protection running.

  • I installed the ad-on reddit and restarted Firefox, but the icon doesn't appear to the left of the Address field, like it shows in the install section

I installed the reddit add-on but I can't find the icon it was supposed to put next to the address field.

I'm not really sure. I was delivered to the add-on link; from the socialite sight, I think, that indicated that i needed the reddit add-on. when I clicked install a little window opened showing where the icon; that looks like the piece of a puzzle, would be placed, to the left of the address field.
I'm not sure anything got added now, since I doesn't show up where it said it would and I don't see it in Tools/Add-ons.
It looks like "reddit revealed" should have installed.
After posting this I will try to install it from the link you included, then reboot and see if it appears.
    ps
The reddit revealed icon appeared after I installed it, but was gone after I restarted FF. But now it shows up on the Tools/Add-on Extensions list.
