AAMUpdater is taking up 709 GB on my computer.

I have a Macbook Pro that I puschased 3 months ago.  It has a 750 GB of space at it seems as if the AAMUpdater folder is taking up 709 GB.  Can I delete this folder in order to make room on my computer to use my programs?

I was helping someone with their imac today. It was very sluggish and reporting the startup drive (2tb) as full. We ran Disk Inventory and discovered a file called "CSUTracker.xml" in the AAMUpdater folder had swallowed up 1.8tb! That is one huge text file. I left it deleting overnight. I Suspect the updater crashed during the last install in October 2012 and a stray process has been building this monster ever since.
My questions: What if i can't delete this? re-install the system? Would adobe like to pay someone to do that?

help with taking my membership to new my computer

    Hi there,
I would like to inform you One CC membership can be used on two machines . These two computers can be Windows, Mac OS, or one each.
If you install on a third computer, it will request you to de-activate on the other two computers.  You can then reactivate one of the previous two computers, and use Creative Cloud apps on it.
Please follow the below mentioned steps :
    1) Open [https://creative.adobe.com ]
    2) Click on SIgn in
    3) Enter your Adobe ID and Password
    4) Click on "Download Centre" on Left top corner
And you would be able to download all the applications on your new machines.
Let me know it it helps.

  • My iTunes is taking too much ram on my computer, what can I do reduce the size without having to delete items?

    Hi,
Since I have stared uploading movies onto my iTunes I have run out of space on my iBook. What can I do to fix this without having to delete movies? Is it possible to move my iTunes to somewhere else like a time capsule or external storage?

Yes. I moved iTunes to an external hard drive. Admittedly, I'm not tech-savvy, so I went to the Apple store and had them help me with it, but it's quite doable, and much smarter than putting an enormous music library on your computer.

  • Taking my library to my new computer

hi i have just got a new comp and i want to take my library from my old comp to the new one, if i sync my i-pod to my new comp it wants to wipe all content of my i-pod, there must be an easy way to do this????
can someone help as this is driving me NUTS

You might find this article useful: iLounge - Transferring your iTunes Library to Another Drive
You can also copy content from your iPod to the computer. Open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Prevent iPods and iPhones from syncing automatically" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to recreate your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes itself will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
    iTunes & iPod software
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.

  • Taking the big leap: buying new computer, camera, color software (X-Rite), printers...would love some feedback from those who may know about fine art reproduction. I'm opting for Canon camera options, Mac Pro vs iMac, and in printers, the Epson 7600.

Friends of Digital Workflow, especially photographers,
I'm just about to buy all new studio equipment.
I have two threads to my question:
    1. Want some input about iMac vs Mac Pro (with a 27' monitor), which monitor system do you prefer?
    2. I am Guru level in the Creative Suite but have little knowledge base for working with Aperature. Want some feed back about pros and cons of the workflow.
I'm also investing in X-Rite Color Suite for Print so that cameras, monitors, printers and projectors may be calibrated. I've used Gretag equipment for years and know profiling quite well. This is an important issue for knowledge about how profiles interface with Aperature.
I appreciate any and all comments.

PS You are welcome to request my personal email or phone number if you feel a lengthy discussion is an option.

    Hi Frederick,
You're spending a lot of money.  I will add my 2¢ -- -- but you must, as I assume you know, fully research your options.
    Environment:
Start with your workspace (inc. lighting) and your clothes.
    Screen:
The iMac screens are lovely, but not, from what I hear, monitor-grade accurate.  For critical color work, use NEC or Eizo monitors.  I use NEC, with their SpectraView II software and an X-Rite ColorMunki photospectrometer.  At the time, this was the least expensive color-calibrated workflow.
    Printer:
Epson's are great, imho.  I use a 3880 in my studio and rent a 9900 by the hour when needed.  I have read of problems (iirc) with one of the printers in the 7000 line, however.  The take-home lesson that I filed in my brain was, "If you're going to spend the money on the 7000 line, just get the 9000 line."
    Aperture workflow:
Aperture is a fantastic workflow tool.  Since you are adept with PS, you should set PS as your external editor.  Use Apertures formidable tools for storing and organizing your Images, and its robust editing tools for either all your proofing, or all but your most demanding editing needs.  That said, allow a good bit of time to get the feel of Aperture.  It is not at all like Bridge.  But your important choice is which RAW converter you want to use.  There is, imho, no reason to use Aperture if you are going to use Adobe's (or anyone else's) RAW converter.
    Good luck!

  • Audition is taking over the sound on my computer

I used audition 3.0 and now I can't hear anything when I'm on windows.
I have the volume set on the correct device.
I also went to Audition and did Edit >Audio Hardware Setup and checked the box that says "Release AISO driver in background"
I can't figure out how to get my windows sound working again, any suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

It's windows, every version has problems... plus, it's not necessarily the OS's fault (more auditions fault), the guy who posted below me is using XP and had a similar problem.
Oh, it's the OS's fault alright - possibly in both cases, admittedly. Not Audition's, because in terms of audio streams, Audition only deals with what it's given, and doesn't itself have any influence over OS settings. Audition 3 uses ASIO streaming, and whatever sound device you use either has to be able to deal with that directly, or use an interface like the internal Windows Sound Driver, or alternatively ASIO4ALL, which does the same thing only with better diagnostics. But these are the only ways in and out for the audio, and there are no settings at all within Audition to alter anything else about it.
Yes, the supported formats settings could upset the internal audio arrangements, but generally only if they've been played with. One thing that can make a difference to this behaviour though is the installation of extra codecs - these sometimes grab streams when they shouldn't, and there are one or two which have been known to cause havoc all over the place. I don't recall exactly which codec pack it was, but the only cure was to uninstall it.

  • IPhoto is taking TOO much cmd from my MacBook Pro !!

    Hello !
iPhoto is taking too much cmd from my computer. When im looking at photos the cpu jumps up to 80-90% of my CPU en when i'm editing photos it can jump up to 160% !!!! Thats just way too much. It *** to be on this good computer and cannot look or work with photos in a software which is specially built for this computer ! How can I fix this ? This is just NOT acceptable !
    Please help me !
    MacBook Pro
    Mac OS X 10.5.8
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

    cmd?
Have you tried the usual simple troubleshooting steps?
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    *What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • How do I install bootcamp on the new drive that I installed with the dvd drive adapter

Hello, I have a macbook pro mid 2012 13 inch, I have just earned some money, enough to buy a SSD, and I happily went to the store and bought a samsung evo 840 120gb SSD. My plan was to clean install windows 8.1 on the SSD, I already had bootcamp on the 500GB HDD with windows 8 that came with the mac, so I backed up the important files from the windows partition. I deleted the partition, and restored it to the mac's partition (which I was going to partition again after the windows installation is complete for the storage for my windows partition) I made a installation usb with the iso I have made with bootcamp assistant, and waited. After that was done I restarted my computer holding the option key, then I booted into the EFI boot partition, and went through the process, entered the serial key, and agreed the thing, and then  when I did the format it said it couldn't do it, so I took it out put it in an external hard-drive case, then I plugged it into my windows 8 laptop, then I opened command prompt, then I typed "diskpart", then after the administrator thing popped up, I clicked yes, then in the diskpart prompt, I typed in "list disk", and my SSD was disk 1, so I did "select disk 1" then I typed "clean" Then I went into the drive manager, then a thing popped up saying which one would I choose between MBR or GPT so I selected GPT, then made a new NTFS partition on the SSD, then took it out, then I popped it back in then went through the installation, until the actual installing part where after copying files is done, this pops up "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code 0x8007045D" So I downloaded a torrent because I had thought that this was corrupted, and downloaded a torrent from a website, and downloaded the iso, and I tried and the same error, again and again of taking out the drive from my computer to format it and putting it back in again (since there was some files made on the SSD) so I had decided that I would download a windows 8 torrent, then I did then it couldn't even start, so I want to install windows 8.1 on my macbook pro, on a separate drive in the the DVD cage (not external, internal), would there be any way to do it, please help!

  • T61 with memory leak on XP for driver battc.sys

    Hi
I have an issue with XP where the battc.sys module that is part of Windows XP and responsible for the kernel side of monitoring the battery status. This module continually leaks memory until I have no more kernel paged resources left and programs start to fail on my laptop.
I raised a support case for this with Microsoft and after some investigation and upgrading to the latest T61 power drivers that were released a few days ago on the Lenovo site, MS support told me it is a fault of the T61 and that I would need to disable Microsoft APCI support to stop this memory leak from occuring and to take the issue up with Lenovo.
I have used the verifier tool to confirm that it is the Windows XP SP3 battc.sys memory module leaking.
I am running the latest T61 drivers and fully patch with MS drivers on SP3.
As MS have told me it is the fault of the T61 I am posting this issue here.
    Thanks
    Stephen

It is memory available to the kernelwhich itself does not show under a process in task manager as far as I am aware (unles it is taken account as part of the system process).
The best way to measure the available kernel memory space available is by using sysinternals procexp.
You need to download procexp and also install the windows debugging tools from Microsoft. Then in procexp set the "Options > Configure Symbols : Debughlp.dll path" to the new debughlp.dll installed with your debu tools and set the symbols path to srv*c:\Symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols
Then you can choose in procexp "View > System Information" and see the used and total paged and non-paged kernel memory space.
poolmon helps monitor all the symbols that are taking up this memory and verifier lets you drill down to the exact module and the changes in memory for a module that is occuring.
Here are two really good links on it
    http://blogs.msdn.com/ntdebugging/archive/2006/12/18/Understanding-Pool-Consumption-and-Event-ID_3A0...
    http://blogs.msdn.com/ntdebugging/archive/2008/05/08/tracking-down-mmst-paged-pool-usage.aspx
In my poolmon i notice that Mmst and battc are taking alot of memory after my computer has been running for some time. Mmst being high is normal but battc should not continually be growing as it is which is why I raised the case to MS but they want verification it is not a Lenovo issue.

  • Help with two computers, two accounts on one apple tv

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on an apple tv to add to my building home theater system. My biggest desire in getting the apple tv is mainly for music streaming to my speaker system. So here is my question. My wife and I both have our own separate itunes accounts, separate itunes libraries on our own macbooks. My question is if it will be a problem to access both of those itunes libraries through the apple tv. I have the remote app for my iphone and can control both of our libraries with that, and can switch between both easily on the iphone, but will the apple tv be able to play different libraries without difficulty? I don't know if i need to set up home sharing because both libraries are currently on different accounts, so i don't even know if it's possible.
Any help, suggestions, or ideas would be appreciated.

JKStraw - but you understand that when you use the appleTV you can stream from a computer without "taking over" the iTunes on that computer?
there are two mode for streaming to an appleTV..
    1) you can stream what is being played on a computer's iTunes Library through airPlay and remote control the iTunes on the computer with the remote app
    OR
    2) you can just access the files in a computers iTunes Library from the appleTV without affecting the computer at all.. you could be playing a song on iTunes or not on the computer and be playing a completely different song on your appleTV.. you just enable home sharing on the appleTV and computer.. from appleTV you just go computers > +the name of the iTunes Library+ and you can access all your songs, video etc on that computer without affecting that computer at all..
on the remote app you can link to an appleTV and 1) just use gestures to navigate the appleTV or 2) skip the appleTV GUI altogether and view what's available directly from the remote app.. click on something and it plays.. again this in no way affects what's happening on the computers the appleTV is linked to..

  • Is there a way to put a large amount of music on your iPod without having to keep all the files in iTunes on your computer as well? I want to put my entire music collection (including cds) on my iPod but don't want to take up the space on my computer.

is there a way to put a large amount of music on the ipod without having to keep all the files on itunes as well? I want to use my ipod as an externa drive and put all of my music on it without taking up the space on my computer. I also don't want to lose all my files everytime I plug ipod into my computer. Is this possible? Is there a way to avoid using itunes and only use the ipod as an external drive?

You cannot put music onto your iPod without using iTunes, that what iTunes is for.
It's also not a good idea to wipe the music from your computer and having it only on your iPod. We see countless posts here from people who have done just that - and then lost everything when the iPod needs a Restore. Even if you never need to Restore your iPod, what happens when you eventually replace the iPod? You'll be back here asking how to get the music from one iPod to another. That's not easy to do, we see countless posts about that too!
A much better idea is to buy an external drive (a proper external drive, not simply an iPod) and put your large amount of music onto that drive. Then point your iTunes Library to that drive. However, you need to remember two things:
You still need a backup of that Library.
Using an external drive as your iTunes Library means that the drive must be connected and ready to read before starting your iTunes programme. If it isn't, then iTunes will look on the C: drive - and you will find no music in your Library. (Once again, lots of posts about that as well!)

  • ICal in Lion - I want my monthly calendars on the left side back

First, I agree with the frustrations I've read around multiple calendars and the fact that you can't easily swich between them anymore for adding new events (Not a smart move, frankly, but hey, Apple can do what they want, at least it seems like they feel that way).
More important to me is that the left sidebar where calendar list used to reside also allowed you to have the next three or four months displayed for reference.  That too appears to be gone.  At least I can't figure out how to get it back--if the functionality is there and I can't find it great, though it shouldn't be so well hidden. I used this a lot and I'm pretty frustrated about how it appears to now be gone, or at least very hard to find.
I get that the "true beleivers" don't think we should question Apple as they know all about how things should work and if they don't think I need something, they are right and I am wrong.  Unfortunately, I simply don't agree with that position, and I've used Macs/Apple products ever since the first Mac was introduced.  Just because something on an iPad is "better" in a particular way, taking away functionality on a full computer makes absolutely no sense to me.  Espectially since the most talented at Apple likely could easily allow for both in an intuative interface overall.  It's just that they aren't being allowed to do that.
---- Yes, that last statement is just my speculation based on very significant frustrations with all the changes in iCal and the other base applications I've historically loved and now find very frustrating and dissappointing in many cases.
    m

Anyone heard anything new here?  This is a huge problem for me.  I manage 15 calendars, some mobileme, some google, some local.  Without the calendar list visible all the time, I often cannot tell which one I'm in (not enough colors, plus I don't want to memorize them).   Furthremore, I previously used the mini months CONSTANTLY to reference dates/days  in the near future.  Ommision of these features, and a refusal to allow them as a user option, is typically infuriating of Apple.  I've been a customer for 2 decades and I love their stuff.  But they still fail to take business users seriously.  This should be an easy fix.  In the Apple Store today they apologized and suggested I just use BusyCal or similar.  While I've heard that's a good product, that's not the point.  We buy Macs so all the included software works seamlessly together.  I liked the old iCal.  It worked great.  I cannot imagine a businessperson would have suggested these changes to Apple during development of the new iCal.  Which means they didn't ask any.  Which *****.  And is far too typical.

Any suggestions? The standard suggestions have not worked: i.e. stop then start AMDS; tuurn off iPad and PC, then restart both and reconfrom iPad to PC; reload iTunes.
