ABAP beginner HELP

Hi all,
Well, I am planning to migrate to SAP. Since I have much experience in software development I thought of exploring SAP ABAP. To use it I planned to download SAP Netweaver trial version and registered at SAP.com but now I am pretty confused to download exactly what? and any useful links for me to begin with.

Hi Saad,
the SAP NetWeaver ABAP Trial Version at [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads] is a good place to start. You do not need ECC to practise ABAP.
The associated pages give you plenty of information on what the hardware requirements are and how to install it.
There is also plenty of stuff in the eLearning and the Wiki to get you going as well as plenty of books available if your budget allows.
As a beginner there is one thing I think you should be aware of. ABAP is a very old language that has been evolving for decades. It is SAPs strategy to make the ABAP language as backwards-compatible as possible. This means that language constructs that are 20 years old are still supported in the language alongside the latest language enhancements such as regular expressions, chaining of method calls, etc. For a newbie this mix of old and new can be at least distracting and at worst confusing.
Take your time to understand the old and the new to really appreciate ABAP.

HCM Processes & Forms: Web Dynpro ABAP Search Helps

Can somebody tell me if its possible to submit some custom event round trip to back end SAP_PA and Generci Services after selection is made in the Search Help and "OK" selected. Right now it looks like its just closing help and can not submit any events automaticaly.

OO ABAP is nothing but a class-method apprach to write ABAP codes and define them : below are few of the informations which will be of help for a newbie :

Polymorphism
Public attributes
Public attributes are defined in the PUBLIC section and can be viewed and changed from outside the class. There is direct access to public attributes. As a general rule, as few public attributes should be defined as possible.
PUBLIC SECTION.
DATA: Counter type i.
Private attributes
Private attributes are defined in the PRIVATE section. The can only be viewes and changed from within the class. There is no direct access from outside the class.
PRIVATE SECTION.
DATA: name(25) TYPE c,
planetype LIKE saplane-planetyp,
Instance attributes
There exist one instance attribute for each instance of the class, thus they exist seperately for each object. Instance attributes are declared with the DATA keyword.
Static attributes
Static attributes exist only once for each class. The data are the same for all instances of the class, and can be used e.g. for instance counters. Static attributes are defined with the keyword CLASS-DATA.

Private methods
Can only be called from inside the class. They are placed in the PRIVATE section of the class.
Constructor method
Implicitly, each class has an instance constructor method with the reserved name constructor and a static constructor method with the reserved name class_constructor.
The instance constructor is executed each time you create an object (instance) with the CREATE OBJECT statement, while the class constructor is executed exactly once before you first access a class.
The constructors are always present. However, to implement a constructor you must declare it explicitly with the METHODS or CLASS-METHODS statements. An instance constructor can have IMPORTING parameters and exceptions. You must pass all non-optional parameters when creating an object. Static constructors have no parameters.
Static constructor
The static constructor is always called CLASS_CONSTRUCTER, and is called autmatically before the clas is first accessed, that is before any of the following actions are executed:
Creating an instance using CREATE_OBJECT
Adressing a static attribute using <classname>-><attrbute>
Calling a ststic attribute using CALL METHOD
Registering a static event handler
Registering an evetm handler method for a static event
The static constructor cannot be called explicitly.
Protected components
When we are talking subclassing and enheritance there is one more component than Public and Private, the Protected component. Protected components can be used by the superclass and all of the subclasses. Note that Subclasses cannot access Private components.
Polymorphism
Polymorphism: When the same method is implemented differently in different classes. This can be done using enheritance, by redefining a method from the superclass in subclasses and implement it differently.

ABAP F1 Help

HI Friends,
I am not getting the ABAP help anymore. When I press F1 at any ABAP keyword it brings up the help box with left and right pane and left pane filled with the tree but the right pane is always empty.

The Problem for not opening is: ABAP F1 Help can't be opened
Windows 7.0 Oprating Systems or new Windows Oprating Systems.
Delete the Windows 7.0 Oprating Systems software from Program Files(May be in C drive).
Restart (MUST)your System.
If needed install Windows Oprating Systems before 7.0 versions.
Restart (MUST)your System.
I Faced the same problem.
So make Sure your Widows OS is not after version 6.

ABAP beginner need help~

Hi,I am a new user for ABAP programing,even I have not entered the right interface for programing.My problem is that I want to create a new program ,I typed SE38 to the ABAP edit, typed the custom program name such as Z_test ,after that I clicked "Create" ,a messagebox displayed "SAP System has status 'not modifiable'",does this mean I don't have the autorization for creating new program?But I selected System-Utilities-Debug ABAP in the menu,re-created ,I enter the ABAP Debugger interface,but the program name in it is not the one I created ,it is "SAPLWBABAP".I am very confused,Who can help me?

Hi Jerry,
Looks like you are trying to create a program in a SAP client where modifications to objects(Reports/ scripts/ screens..any workbenc objects) are restricted.
Usually SAP Quality and Production clients have such restriction.
YOu can only create objects like programs in SAP development client. So just findout from your basis guy whether you have development rights in the system to create programs or not?
YOu can download SAP ABAP trial version from SDN and can do practice ABAP programming. All kinds of object you can develop here.

WD ABAP: Need beginner help on TREE UI ELEMENT

Hi all,
I'm struggling with the Tree element in Webdynpro (ABAP!).
Can anyone provide me with a help/tutorial/examplecode on how to correctly bind a tree to context, and how to fill the context
I have an IT with a field (int) that descibes on what level the item has to go into the Tree.
i hope i can use this to populate the context

CALCULATOR DIALOG: Converting Result Field (beginner, help requested)

I am a beginner in ABAP/4 programming.
I have been trying to create a calculator dialog.
However, one of the problems that i've run into is that my result field (shows the output numbers) is defined as type p decimals 5. Thus, if you enter 2, then 5, you get the following result --> 2.000005, with the the five not being shown,
Instead, i'd like the result to be 25.00000 and so on if adding any numbers(for example, if 4 was then added, the result would be 254.00000)
How would i change the code to make this possible?

Assuming that result = 2 when you do this:
result_temp = result.
you get result_temp = '2.00000', not '2' as you might expect. Hence if you convert 2 and 5 from type P with 5 decimals to type C and then concatenate you get '2.000005.00000', not '25'. If you want to get '25' try converting type P into type I and then into C.
Also not sure what you are trying to achieve exactly but if you want to accept only integer numbers (such as 2 or 5) and to provide the result with decimals, simply define input variables as type I and only the result as type P.

I have a requirement where I have to create a webdynpro for ABAP table for new row/rows entry, delete row/rows and update row/rows data. This is something like table control in normal ABAP.

i am new to BI-7 and i could write start routines etc in BW3.5 but now in BI-7 everything is ABAP Object Oriented can some one tell me where to find some good site or file with syntaxes for basic statements. like Loop at, if than, and defining internal tables etc... in ABAP OO.
secondly is it true that u have to use ABAP OO for Satrt and End rt's but for the Characteristic Rt u can use old ABAP? thats weird if true.

Urgent: ABAP Code help reqd

Can anyone please me provide me ABAP code for the following case:
Table1 JHAGA
Table2 JHAGVZ
Primary keys in JHAGA:
Order Item Number [POS_NR]
Billing Dataset [GRUPPABRNR]
Sales Document Number [AVM_NR]
This requirement is for an InfoSet. For each order ideally we can have multiple sales agent. Sales Agent is being pulled from JHAGVZ. For this InfoSet we are going to go with assumption that we wont have more then 10 sales agent for an order,
Consider 10 extra fields in InfoSet SA1 SA10 for 10 Sales Agent.
I need code which to populate this sales agent field. If an order exists in JHAGA then for that order in JHAGVZ populate the SA1-SA10 field.
JHAGA Order#10
JHAGVZ Order#10 SalesAgent11
 SalesAgent12
 SalesAgent13
Then SA1 should have SalesAgent11, SA2 should have SalesAgent12 and SA3 should have SalesAgent13 and so on

Are these two field a part of the table INFOROBJECT?
if they are, you can write a select statement like :
select 0CUSTOMER 0SALESORG YLEG_ENTITY
 from INFOROBJECT
 into Y_CUST_LE
 where ( Yacc_SEQ <> ´ZROO´ and
 0PRICE_LIST <> space).

SAP HR IMG ABAP Error Help

Hi,
I am new to this site and I have a question. Recently, I had the "Vanilla SAP System" installed on a harddrive for my laptop. I am studying for the SAP HR Consultant Certification.
However, the system doesn't have the training DB and I have to start with implementing a project through the IMG. Yesterday, I received an error message (below) when I go to the application component sectin to add on Pers. Administration, Countries, etc).
Can anyone direct me to someone in Atlanta that may be able to take a look at this for me?
I was working on my computer and I get to a certain point in my customizing activity and I get this error msg:
Runtime errors RFCGUI_unexpected_data
The termination occurred in the ABAP program SAPMSSYO in %_CTL_OUTPUT
The main program was SAPLS_IMG_TOOL_5
The termination occurred in line 30 of the source code of the (Include) program <SYSINI> of the source code of program <SYSINI> (when calling the editor 300)
There is more to the error message and I would have to perform the activity to let the person see the message. Not unless they can tell what's wrong by the error above.

From you code i understand that I_T_TAB is the internal table that fetch data from the SAP table TAB.
So, the reason for the error statement is because of the Select statement.
The select statement is used to fetch data from SAP table TAB.
So your select statement should look like this...
SELECT SINGLE * FROM TAB INTO I_T_TAB
WHERE key = import_ PARAMETER
AND import_param_date BETWEEN from_date AND to_date.
IF sy-subrc = 0.
MOVE-CORRESPONDING i_t_tab TO export_rec.
ENDIF.
If you are trying to fetch data from the internal table I_T_TAB &
append the export parameter EXPORT_REC then you should use the READ statement.
READ TABLE i_t_tab WITH KEY key = import_ parameter
and import_param_date between from_date and to_date.
IF sy-subrc = 0.
MOVE-CORRESPONDING i_t_tab TO export_rec.
APPEND export_rec.
ENDIF.

I have a scenario where I need to pick up Idocs out of a packet of Idocs .The Idocs will be picked by checking for a certain condition for the Idoc Segement and of all the Idocs the Idocs which satisfy a particular condition should only be output and for this I have been asked to achieve this using ABAP Mapping.So any info in this regard would be of great help for me.
Packet of Idocs----
> Idocs satisfying the cond.
(sender)*********(Check for a condition)*****(Receiver)
Please do provide with me a sample coding if possible.Please take up this with some priority.
