ABAP developer key help

Here is the Developer Key for the BCUSER.

Now a windows pops up in which I have to register an object, instead of registering a user (BCUSER) as explained in the PDF document. When I insert the developer key a message appears stating I inserted a wrong key.
Dont work other tips in forum.....
im install license key -ok,restart sap service and etc into doc.....
What am I doing wrong??

Just to enforce what Dirk said, All objects that you create in your sneak preview, must be in the customer name space, meaning that it begins with "Z" or "Y". Any object needs to be like this. So if you are creating a program in SE38 and you want to call it MYTESTPROGRAM, it really must be ZMYTESTPROGRAM. Otherwise you will get the message that you are getting about registering objects. Rememeber always use the customer name space, when creating dictionary objects, function modules, classes, and report programs.

ABAP Developer Key Required to Learn for Beginners?

Hi,
I'm working as a functional consultant in MM, I thought it would be good to start learning ABAP to help me with enhancements, debuggging .. FS creation etc.
We have a sandbox system in our company and I wanted to write some code and start learning, the problem is when I tried creating a program I am prompted to provide a developer key which the company declined to provide since they have to pay for it.
Is there a way to overcome this and start coding or any suggestions?

Hi,
Please consult your basis guy and ask for the IDES system added in your logon pad.
IDES is an environment where every beginner can learn the things in SAP or ABAP. If you want to become a serious developer in SAP the you need to have Developer rights in your login ID. ( Authorization Object : S_DEVELOP). This can also be done by basis guy.

ABAP Developer Key

I have registered the abap developer user on the market place and I have got the key, but I am unable to put it into the sap system.
can any one tell me the steps how to install this developer key into the sap system ?

Developer keys are stored in table DEVACCESS.
However - as stated by the previous contributors this table is not updated directly but the developer is asked to enter the key ONCE when changing or creating his first dictionary object.
Developer keys are not deleted from the system when the UMR is deleted (at least not in any version up to ECC 5.0). If you need to do that you have to write a program to update the table directly. The same could of course be done to add entries to the table (if you would like to do that centrally instead of having each developer enter their key).

Sneak preview ABAP - Developer Key too long.

I installed Sneak preview ABAP edition and I requested the developer key, the key I have received is of 24 digits where as the size of the screen field is 20 digits. I don't know how I can get the correct key.

Abap proxy - developer key

When I log into XI ABAP stack and try to create a ABAP program in SE38, I able to do it with the given developer key.
But if I run SPROXY in XI and try to create a ABAP proxy system says my developer key is invalid.
What am I missing? Do I need to grant any privileges ?

For every sap system for development you need development key and you need enter this only first time for development / user id.
Now As you said you are able to generate ABAP program in XI ABAP stack..because development key was generated for that sap installation number.
Can you check if you have same installation number for your XI ABAP stack and R/3 system where you are generating proxy. ( Remember you are generating proxy's in different sap r/3 system...not in same) You can check your system installation number by system-->status after login into abap stack.
If you have different installation number then you need to generate new developer access key for your user id for r/3 system where you are generating proxys.

I don't know, the correct way for getting the access key.

SAP HANA development languages for ABAP Developer

Hi I was just looking at some blogs on HANA. Can anyone tell me how to learn the new HANA programming languages SQLScript etc. As you know not many companies use HANA yet, so getting to use a real HANA box can be hard as of now.. What are the other options... Can I install the HANA software on my PC and use it with a few Excel files or MS-Access db just to workout what these programming languages actually do.. Ofcourse I dont have access to the HANA box(hardware that SAP talks about). I am an ABAP Developer I have access to ECC if that helps.
Also from what I can understand the HANA box sits on top of the ECC/BW systems etc or would HANA replace some aspects of the Application Server and sit in the R3 architecture? if the second scenario is true would most of the ABAP reports etc written using traditional ABAP have to be replaced or modified to use HANA related code in them to improve performance(I know ABAP doesnt support this yet).
If companies start using HANA I would think most ABAP developments just querying to get data would need to be rewritten-even the webdynpro applications for performance.
Can HANA update DBs as well?
Would HANA programming be a required skill for most ABAP developers in future?

Hello Sk,
so far (with HANA 1.0 SPS 2), the only relevant languages to learn is SQL and SQL Script. Check http://service.sap.com/hana which has SQL and SQL Script Guides.
Since you know ABAP already, you will pick these things up rather quickly. There are as you noted some concepts you have to understand in order to make optimal use of the HANA features and get maximum performance (anyone could come up with SQL or SQL script that crawls to a halt even in HANA). One key is to process everything is sets of data rather than record by record. Another important item is to keep all processing within the column engine. Also avoid joins that lead to large intermediate results. We are currently writing some how-to guides which will be publised on http://www.experiencesaphana.com/. Stay tuned!
In terms of the architecture, I would say HANA as a database sits below the application server and/or client, for example, BW powered by HANA where HANA plays the role of the DBMS. The other option is to run side-by-side for example, connecting HANA to an existing ECC (that runs on MS-SQL). In either case, you are right; the logic (either in the application on top of HANA, or the models inside HANA) needs to be changed or created to take advantage of HANA.
Where can you learn more? Class room training TZHANA or come back regularly to the Try section of the Experience Site where we plan to publish other options.

Hi everyone. I'd like to install minisap in order to learn ABAP development. But I didn't manage to install it yet. Could anyone help me or give instructions on intallation or other mean to practise my learning in ABAP.

ABAP is not difficult to learn if you already have programing experience. In fact I find the language much cleaner and the utilities and tools much more efficient than many mainstream dynamic languages. To begin with ABAP, there are many many tutorials, forums, blogs and books that you will find online. As for actually getting to the interface you have two possibilities. SAP offers a development server you can install on your own system. I do not have the link on hand and it is somewhat cumbersome to install and setup the database, but you can find this on SAP page.
However, the better option is, if you currently work at a place that uses SAP, ask the administrator to get you a development KEY for their DEV, test or training systems. This way not only will you have access to execute your own ABAP code on the server, but also access to business data to report on (development server does not provide business transactions). If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask.
For your first program of course:
WRITE:/ 'HELLO WORLD!'.

Problem with developer key

I am a MiniSAP user. I wanted to write ABAP's programs but I cant change repository objects. I followed the instructions on www.sap.com/minisap with expanding my license and it worked. However as I enter developer key from that site (it is already provided) I still cant change these objects. Why is that? Can't I work as developer in MiniSAP? Please help me. Thank you in advance.

Right, you can not change objects outside of the name space. Create your program with the name Z_FIRST_PROGRAM. There is no reason why you must use S_FIRST_PROGRAM for your program name. Do not delete the S_FIRST_PROGRAM, just create your "Z" program.
NSP is the system id for the Sneak Preview Netweaver 2004s, I assumed that you where working with this system.
Anyway, the rule is still the same, you must respect the namespace rules.

Task of ABAP Developer in standard reports

I know standard reports in SD..Is there any role played by the abaper in using those standand reports? Can abap developer customise those standard reports...or abap developer only do the reports from scratch depending on the requirement ( coding in se38). Is there anything done by using standard reports? Plz clarify my doubt...Thanks in advance.

Yes, ABAP developer can modify the standard programs if the access key is provided by the basis guys for that specific standard program.Sometime standard programs do not meet the client's business requirment.
In that scenarios ABAP developer need to modify the standard program.

MiniSAP - Problems with developer key

Hi @all,
today, I started installing the Minisap System on my PC. (SAP NetWeaver Sneak Preview on MaxDB).
After the installation I logged on to the System with the User "BCUSER".
I started t-code "SE38" to start developing some ABAP programms.
Now, I have to insert a valid developer key, which I can - according to the Installation Guide - find on<a href="http://www.sap.com/technology/minisap">http://www.sap.com/technology/minisap</a>.
The key I found there is: 29671482393151224771
So I entered this key in the field, but my System said, it was an invalid key.
Can anyone help me with this problem?
I checked many potential nonconformities, but had no success:
- I definitly inserted the correct key found on the website, because I used the copy and paste function.
- I restarted both the instance and after that the whole pc.
- I installed a new valid 90-day license key from SAP
- My SID is definitly "NSP", Installation-Number: "DEMOSYSTEM"
Does anyone has an Idea, how I can resolve this problem? Is there another developer key available for the NSP WebAS 6.40 System?

Debugging is not working in R/3 from WebDynpro-ABAP developed webpage input

Dear Friends,
We are facing a serious problem for debugging. Expecting valuable input for the same.
Debugging is not working in R/3 from WebDynpro-ABAP developed webpage input in Production Server.
The debugging (for WebDynpro-ABAP application) is working in Dev. Server for
1st ] Within R/3
Ex. debug for bapi within R/3. i.e. value enter as input in R/3 only.
2nd ] From webpage to R/3
Ex. Some input given on the internet web page developed through WebDynpro and external breakpoint set in R/3 it works. It directs to R/3 code through debugging.
In Prod. Server the 1st case above is working but the 2nd case is not working.
In Prod. Server the WebDynpro developed applications are running successfully through internet explorer webpage inputs. So running the application is not a problem in prod. Server but debugging of the same is the problem.
The setting which are done in Prod. server are,
1] RZ10 in parameters are set for port and host name.
2.1] In SMICM check for ICM.
2.2] Host file updated in Windows-System 32.
3] In SICF following services are active,
3.1] default_host/sap/bc/webdynpro
3.2] default_host/sap/public/bc
3.3] default_host/sap/public/bc/webdynpro/viewdesigner
3.4] default_host/sap/bc/wdvd
3.5] default_host/sap/public/icman

4] In SE80
4.1] Internet services-System-are published

ABAP/4 Key is not working in BI 7.0 version

Hello,
Some reason my ABAP/4 key is not working on BI 7.0 few months back I created few ABAP programs
When i try to create a new program using t-code SE38 and program name as 0201 then create button then system will ask ABAP key when i enter its giving error message "incorrect entry"
What would be the reason?

well, normally a report has to start with Z or Y. So what key is system asking for? Developer key, which you have already entered a few month ago, or a 'modification' key?
Are you creating this report with the same user name?
Have a look at table DEVACCESS in transaction SE11. here you will find all the users and there developer keys.
Are you creating these report on the same installation as a few month ago, or did something change in the mean time?

Developer Key for MiniSAP

Does anyone know how to get a Developer Key for MiniSAP?
I had successfully installed MiniSAP and have been coding ABAP for a month...now I had to update the License for MiniSAP and since I have successfully installed the new license (good for 90 days), now when I enter SE38 to modify or create my code it asks for a Developer's Key (also called a License Key).
If I go to OSS with my S-User that doesn't work either, as DEMOSYSTEM is not a registered system to ask for a key.
I'm stumped....any guidance would be deeply appreciated, as at the moment...no coding possible.
(I could reinstall MiniSAP, but then I lose all my code) eh?
