ABAP Future in next coming years

Hi,
I have 4 year experience in SAP ABAP/4. There are so many comments that ABAP have been obsolete in next few year's. This is true about it.
Then what will be the SAP ABAPer future.
If we can switch any other module, which one is best for ABAPer.
Note: - I have good knowledge of Functional also - SD / MM/ FICO / alongwith ABAP.

I have read many questions on ABAP is dead or what?
They point to ominous signs: they tells that all the new SAP programs are written in Java (not true), and they are concerned that the NetWeaver CE is an exclusively Java-based environment (true). The NetWeaver Developer Studio is also almost exclusively Java-based (also true).
But ABAP is not as dead as some might think, there are still more than 238,000,000 lines of ABAP code in SAP. ABAP is still entrenched in SAP, and SAP is still entrenched in ABAP.
ABAP is still making its presence felt: some of the new NetWeaver PI functionality was written in ABAP. You might not see it when you work with PI, but the ABAP is there underneath, keeping things humming along.
Thomas Jung of SAP Labs, who writes an outstanding developeru2019s blog on SDN, telling - some of the underlying NetWeaver functions were written in ABAP, and of course there is the Web Dynpro for ABAP. Jung also told that the ABAP Workbench is indeed part of NetWeaver, and is being equipped with many of the Java side of NetWeaver is receiving.
ABAP is still the part of the SAP.
So I think thats it on ABAP, that will be there always. No implementation is possible without ABAP.
So the ABAP is dead or not doesn't leads to answer "Yes" or "No".
But for now, we can safely say that ABAP is not going anywhere. Itu2019s also becoming clear that whether youu2019re an SAP ABAP person or an SAP Java person, if you donu2019t make a commitment to understanding the latest generation of modeling tools (CE, Visual Composer, Aris for NetWeaver, etc.), and how they fit into the emerging Enterprise Architecture, youu2019re going to be left behind.

Yours will run Mountain Lion. yours is 4 yrs old and still supported and has life left.

How to get a Monthly Depreciation Simulation for next fiscal year?

I need a report that give me the depreciation simulation for next fiscal year, but I need it monthly wise. I run report S_ALR_87012936 with report date 31.12.2011 and evaluation period = month.
The report gives the error message AA669 Fiscal year 2011 is already closed in Financial Accounting
I read that this report doesn't work monthly wise for future years. Is there a workarround?

I'm sorry there is only RASIMU02. Note 396974 describes, this is a missing functionality and there is no workaround.
Reports on derived depreciation areas that do not post any values to the
general ledger are allowed with the evaluation period year. An
evaluation using month, quarter or half-year is not supported.
In general, the depreciation forecasted by monthly in report RASIMU02 are only for depreciation area which posts depreciation to GL. For non-GL posting area, we recommend you simulate the depreciation
in 'fiscal year' mode. if you simulate the depreciation
Basically RASIMU02 is NOT designed to provide period simulation for these non posting areas. This because RASIMU02 uses for periods which have been posted already the created ANLP. But ANLP´s are not created for non-posting areas. So in these periods where a depreciation run had been executed already, RASIMU02 will not show
values.

Carry forward Exemption infotypes to next financial year

Dear experts,
Is there any way standard T-Code for we can copy all current year exemption infotypes (582, 581, 585, 584,586) to next financial year in bulk for all the employees?
We don't want to take the route of BDC or LSMW.
Please suggest.

Custom report to get the vacation hours for the coming year befor time eval

Hi Gurus,
We have this strange requirement for the vacation hours. We need to write a report that shows the remaining vacation hours for the coming year. My functional guys told me that we will get this after we run the time evaluation for each employee. but our requirement is to get these hours before time eval and write them to a flat file.
They told me that we need to go through RPTIME00 program and get the logic where it calculates the vacation hours for the coming year. but the time schema is really big and to analyze this, it will take a long time (at least for me).
So, did anybody came across this kind of situation? Please help me.

Sounds like a case of entering an incorrect passcode over and over. Only fix is to follow the instructions in that article you reference, HT1212, and it may take a couple tries to get it to work right.

Purchase order not appearing as commitment for next fiscal year in KOB2

Hi Experts
Any help on this is highly appreciated.Our Fiscal year 2008 is ending on 27th september and fiscal year 2009 will start on 28th September.
We have some purchase orders created with delivery date as 30th september which falls into next fiscal year. Somehow these purchase orders are not appearing as commitments in KOB2 report even with data ranges for next fiscal year.
However we have many similar Purchase orders with delivery date in fiscal year 2008 with same internal order as account assignment and they are correctly appearing as commitments in KOB2 report.
Can you please let us know what could be the reason for purchase orders with delivery date as 30th september not appearing in KOB2 report.

Thanks for your continued support on this. I was going through these notes today.
One observation I made was cost elements in our system were valid till 27th september only when problematic POs were created.However their validity was subsequently extended after the creation of Purchase orders.This might be the reason for system not recognising these POs as commitments.
SAP Note 534993 seems to suggest that we need to run report RKANBU01 for all such purchase orders to redetermine commitments.I am in the process of testing this out in our systems.

Switch to changeove method occuring in next fiscal year instead of next per

In configuration of depriciation keys, changeover method 5 (changeover after end of planned useful life) is used, but problem is switch to changeover method occurs in first period of next fiscal year, instead of immediate next period after the end of useful life of the asset,
e.g. useful life of asset expires in the month of Jun'07, so we expect the changeover to happen in Jul'07, but in SAP it is switching to changeover method in the next fiscal year i.e. Apr'08 (Fiscal Year is Apr-Mar). Following are screen images for your reference:

In case of Change over method you must have added another record in the Depreciatin key with all new Base Method, Decl. Bal. Mehtod etc., check whether all are maintained correctly.
If the above are maintained correctly check your period control given in the Depreciation Key you might have used 08 period control in your Period Control Method

Need to calculate interest paid/earned for the coming year ...

Working up the 2010 budget, and decided to give Numbers a whirl vs. continuing with M$ Excel for another year. One of the things I do is make some kind of educated estimate on how much my interest I will pay on each of my loans in the following year.
Example - auto loan:
Balance: $10,000
Interest rate: 7%
Payment: $200/month
You get the idea. Does Numbers have a formula that will calc the effective interest I would have paid by December 2010, recalculating the new principal and interest each month as the balance goes down, etc? I looked at IPMT, but some of the variables don't seem to make sense to me.

Ok, that works for some things. (Thanks again).
If you have a fixed-term loan (auto, home, etc.) then CUMIPMT seems to work great. But in the case of revolving credit lines, credit cards, where there is no fixed term the formula breaks down.
For example:
CreditCardX
- APR: 10%
- Balance: $5,000
- Projected payment/month: $150
CreditCardY
- APR: 12%
- Balance: $4,000
- Projected payment/month: $125
In the coming 12 months, I want to play with the numbers to see how much interest I will pay on X versus Y over the coming year ... up the payment on X and see how that changes things versus upping the payment on Y ... you get the idea.
I guess I can just create a manual formula (?)
Still appreciate any help as I am figuring out Numbers.

Error while carryforwording vendor/ customers balances to next fiscal year

While carriforwording balances of vendors & Customers to next fiscal year the system didnt show the log in f.07. The balances were carried forword to next fiscal year but instead of showing those balances in Balance column it displays it in ***. balances.
How those balaces will be displayed in Balance column & What are the steps to do that?

When we carry forward balances from one fiscal year to another or one period to another. the balances will be shown in cumulative balances only. only when we do the transaction it will be shown in the balance column. i hope i am clear.

you have to run J2I8 t-code to transfer 50% modvat credit in next fiscal year.
After execute that t-code select excise invoice and click on Transfer Credit button .
After Transfer Credit you can find those amount in J2IUN (monthly Utilization)

You would not be able to carry forward these plan values becuase they are planned with respect to a particular period and year. The budgets only get carry forward for cost objects like orders and WBS where the objective is to accomplish a particular job.

Aimed for use for approx. next ten years

The MBP Retina 15 inch of current build/version if it will be purchased here it is planned to be used
for approximately next 10 years.
The current windows machine to be replaced by mbp did it very well.
However if it comes to using/possessing Apple products we are newcomer -
it is hard for us to jugde how good is the chance to achieve this goal.
How good is the chance?
Which are the Apple's specific strategy points regarding os and other
on-board software actualizations/support to be considered?

Your first question has no answer from this forum as we have no idea.
In answer to your second question:
1) Batteries have a finite life and would most likely not be servicable at the 10 year mark. Most batteries are questionable after 4-5 years. The Retina MBP is not user servicable, so you would need to pay to replace the battery much earlier than the 10 year mark (maybe a few times).
2) You mentioned that you did indeed upgrade the RAM and hard disk on your PC. You will not be able to do that on a Retina MBP. Buy what you need today and live with it. Also, eventually the SSD will fail as the flash has a finite number of write cycles. This would take several years under normal use, but you can expect failures before the 10 year mark. Again, not user servicable and you would have to pay to get it fixed.
3) Computers don't slow down as they get older (unlike humans). But, you also must accept (as with your PC) that newer OS version might not be compatible with old HW. And, software upgrades might not be available to you.
Nobody can predict that any computer will last 10 years. I think you have been extremely lucky with the PC you currently own. Of course, we don't know when you upgraded the memory and when/why you upgraded the HD. But you did replace the weakest component (the HD) in your PC and the one you have now will also eventually wear out.

You will have to work with the authorized service centers in India. Why did the service center you contacted say that they could not help you?
