ABAP process hangs when calling a jCO Server J2EE-available RFC

Hi there
Here's the scenario:
We have deployed a jCO server under the SAP WAS. This jCO server implements two functions. They are both called from ABAP process through RFC. We are using the same RFC destination for both
First function is defined with import/export parameters and the second one only operates with a TABLE parameter.
Incidentally, these functions are captured by the jCO server, which calls an IBM MQ server
First function works fine. Second function hangs and there is not even a timeout so the ABAP process (run on foreground) can stay forever.
The interesting part is that the same application works really fine when called from a Tomcat using a standalon instance of the jCO.
Additional info:
We have noticed that some time after the second function gets called, there are five dumps on the system (the same amount of servers we make available). These are CALL_FUNCTION_SIGNON_REJECTED.
The fun part of the dumps is that the user making the RFC call is a different user that the one we use for the jCO connection, and the client number is '000', instead of the '728' we are using for the connection. Somehow they seem related but we do not know how yet:

  • RFC call failed: JCO.Server could not find server function 'SET_SLD_DATA'

    Hi, All
    the system is PI 7.0 EHP1 oraclei Win2003 server, I configured SLD but I run RZ70, having error "RFC call failed: JCO.Server could not find server function 'SET_SLD_DATA' ". I know there are lot of tread about this error, but none of themsolve my problem. all JCO, RFC connections and SDL DATA supplier(VA) seem OK. error message in SM21 is "Could not send SLD data"
    detail from SM21
    The system could not send the data that has been collected automatical
    for the System Landscape Directory (SLD). Check whether the gateway
    configured in transaction RZ70 has been started and whether the SLD
    bridge has been registered with this gateway.
    You can use transaction SM59 to check this in the sending system for t
    implemented RFC destinations. The RFC destinations have the standard
    names "SLD_UC" for Unicode sending systems and "SLD_NUC" for non-Unico
    sending systems. If a different RFC destination has been entered in
    RZ70, check this destination instead.
    You can use the Gateway Monitor to check the target gateways. In ABAP
    systems, this monitor is started with transaction SMGW, or you can use
    the external SAP program "gwmon". Check whether the specified gateway
    has an active registration.
    OF COURSE I checked  RFC of  SLD_UC and SMGW
    any different ideas
    Regards
    ABH

    Hi
    Please check the following notes are implemented
    Note 906454
    Note 907729
    You may be aware but if you are not --->RZ70 creates the required SLD* RFCs during runtime - therefore if you have defined these RFCs manually first using the same namespace you can get RFC conflicts which result in a failed submission
    Please also check the user in the RFC is known to both systems and has required authorization to write to SLD
    Generally with SLD you have to install or select a suitable gateway to handle incoming data supply traffic
    Also the gateway you are using has be known to SLD and reflected in RZ70 - i.e these defintions have to be the same
    It is also recommended to delete all references to SLD_* RFCs in data supplier and target SLD
    after a failed submission attempt to allow RZ70 to recreate these consistently once the above has been checked
    Best wishes
    Stuart

    hi experts,
    i am getting error Error When Calling Up IGS (Error opening an RFC connection.)
    when i excute in wad, i checked in forums regarding this issue ,it is suggested that in check in se38--> se38->GRAPHICS_IGS_ADMIN(execute)->then it opens one more window (IGS_RFC_DEST)execute(could not reach to IGS)
    in RSRT if i execute IGS test button it is showing page cannot be displayed
    can anybody give answer for this what to do
    thanks

    Hi Venu,
    I would suggest that you contact your basis team and ask them to check the entry for the IGS in SM59.

  • Java VM hangs when I start Derby Server

    Hey everyone,
    Help will be much appreciated so cheers in advance.
    I've made a desktop app through Netbeans that runs fine within the IDE but can't get it to work from outside (unless I've connected to the server from within Netbeans first so guessing its not the app itself rather the conenction to the server?)
    I'm using Java version 1.6.0_17 and am confuzled as to why the VM hangs when I try to start the Derby server from a Batch file.
    my batch file reads:
    set DERBY_HOME = M:\Business\Registers\Lodgements Registers\LodgementsDB\Sun\JavaDB
    Path = %DERBY_HOME%\bin;%Path%
    java -jar "%DERBY_HOME%\lib\derbyrun.jar" server start
    java -jar "M:\Business\Registers\Lodgements Registers\LodgementsDB\Lodgements\dist\Lodgements.jar"
    echo "Press any key to shutdown Server"
    pause
    java -jar "%DERBY_HOME%\lib\derbyrun.jar" server shutdown
    I've checked the Derby log file and its reading
    2010-02-16 09:00:37.530 GMT : Apache Derby Network Server - 10.5.3.0 - (802917) started and ready to accept connections on port 1527
    Just running java -jar "M:\Business\Registers\Lodgements Registers\LodgementsDB\Lodgements\dist\Lodgements.jar"
    gives all the usual java.sql.SQLNonTransientConnectionException .... I gather because it can't find the database if the server isn't open.
    The only other info I have to go on is the problem reporting in Vista which states the obvious (that the Java SE binary stopped working and was closed, tagging it with an AppHangB1)
    Also, in advance, is there a more common way of starting the server from outside nettbeans (eg code) that doesn't rely on command prompt- seems daft to me not to have this (and yes I am a first time derby user, used the Toplink persistence libs throughout my code if that helps?).

    Nothing is hanging, this is a misunderstanding of how a batch file works. A batch file is processed line by line, and only when the execution of the task or program (in this case your first call to Java) returns, execution will continue on the next line. As the first call starts Derby and only completes when Derby is stopped, your batch file will not continue with the next line until you kill Derby.
    You either need to start Derby separately, inside your application or using a batch command to launch Derby in a separate process so the batch file won't wait until completion. AFAIK this can be achieved using the command START (eg START java (rest of the commandline))

  • C++ process hangs when started from Java

    I am trying to execute a c++ code from java on a remote Windows machine. In order to deal with the remote part, I have created a Web service from where the actual command is run using Runtime.exec(). The c++ exe is not being called directly from the java code. I have a batch file that eventually calls the exe.
    The problem is, both java and c++ processes hang. The java code on server side does handle the output stream and error stream. Also, the c++ code is logging everything in a file on Windows. The strange thing is that, when I remove the WS call and run the java code on server side as a standalone java program, it succeeds. Also, execution of the batch file alone does not hang. Here is the java code:
    public class RunCPlusPlusExecutable {
    public int runExecutable() {
        int exitValue = 0;
        try {
            Process p = null;
            Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
            System.out.println("About to execute" + this + rt);
            p = rt.exec("c:/temp/execcplusplus.bat");
            System.out.println("Process HashCode=" + p.hashCode());
            StreamProcessor errorHandler = new StreamProcessor(p.getErrorStream(), "Error");
            StreamProcessor outputHandler = new StreamProcessor(p.getInputStream(), "Output");
            errorHandler.start();
            outputHandler.start();
            exitValue = p.waitFor();
            System.out.println("Exit value : " + exitValue);

    The WS server is running from some admin user. And I have been running the standalone java program from some other user. It seems that the c++ executable is giving referenced memory error when being executed from WS call. There are pop-ups citing the error with OK and Cancel buttons(visible when logged in as admin). The error states
    The instruction at 0x05473030 referenced memory at 0x000001d4. The memory could not be read
    Any idea what is causing the problem and how to debug it? Why does this memory error comes only when the exe is run through WS call? Please note that I won't be able to debug the c++ code and the web service is an apache axis2 service.
    Thanks

    How can I know? Its your environment, not mine. The only thing we know is that when running the stuff through one path things blow up and when you run them through another path, things don't blow up. User rights is an obvious suspect, but not necessarily the actual problem. Generally when rights are the problem, you get some form of "access denied" exception, not a code hang.
    Another likely possibility is that of network settings; perhaps your server goes through a proxy and your local applications do not, or the other way around.
    Yet another likely possibility is that the version of Java used is different, or different versions of libraries are no the classpath causing differences in behavior. There is only one way to figure it out: get to know your environment very well and through solid reasoning and experimentation try to figure out where the breaking point is. It all starts with answering this question: what might be different in the environment of the web server, and outside of it? I can't know, only you can. Good luck.

  • 8i hangs when calling a complex EJB

    Regarding 8i (8.1.6) and EJBs on an NT Server...
    We have been working towards deployment of a web application, using 8i, for some time now and have overcome a number of problems encountered with EJBs (remote access via 2481, clientserverserver demo not working when connecting as any other user than the EJB owner etc.). We have found the going hard at times but we have now hit a potential showstopper problem that we can't find a way around.
    We have deployed ~25 EJBs and can call them many times from our client, including EJBs calling other EJBs. However, we have a more complex EJB that acts as client to 15 other EJBs and this is hanging intermittently. Sometimes it runs OK but then hangs at different points with ORACLE.EXE taking 100%
    CPU. The only recovery is to reboot the server.
    In our testing we have noticed the following points...
    1. Starting the database up, running some EJBs, shutting down the database and then restarting it leaves ORACLE.EXE taking ever more memory without apparently releasing any. This can be seen to get worse and worse when repeating this loop.
    2. When running many EJBs using several different Oracle connections (~10 different Oracle users) ORACLE.EXE takes more and more memory. It occassionally releases some but overtime grows.
    3. Deploying EJBs increases the memory usage of ORACLE.EXE significantly. The memory is not released.
    Some other points...
    1. The EJBs called by the main EJB are the same ones that are called OK from an external client.
    2. When the server hangs it tends to be when the main EJB is a). doing the JNDI lookup on another EJB OR b). running a method within another EJB. But it is difficult to spot any clear pattern.
    3. We are using //thisServer/:thisSession when calling EJBs serverside.
    We suspect that there may be a resource issue that causes problems under more complex scenarios.
    Questions...
    1. Are there known resource management problems with 8i on NT, or have we missed something ?
    2. Has anyone else got problems with ORACLE.EXE hanging when using EJBs ?
    3. Does anyone have any suggestions/ solutions ?
    Thanks, Andy Blears :(

    Stefan,
    Thanks for the input. We have now applied patches up to 8.1.6.1 (I can't find any more recent) and the problem still occurs. The behaviour may have become more predictable in that it seems to go into an eternal loop whilst trying to load classes. BUT it may work well for periods of time.
    Re. the performance it seems to be OK on the small tests we have run so far but because of the problems we're having we haven't run full stress/volume tests yet...I'll let you know - Are you asking because you have experienced poor performance ?

  • Environment.Exit hangs when called from an application domain exception handler

    I've implemented a handler for exceptions not thrown in the main GUI thread of my C# WinForms application, as follows:
        AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException  += OnUnhandledExceptionThrown;
    This handler is called from a background thread. The last statement in this handler is a call to
    Environment.Exit with the application exit code. However, the application hangs in this call. From within Visual Studio, it hangs and I'm unable to break the application; I have to use Task Manager to terminate Visual Studio. Environment.Exit
    works fine when called from the unhandled exception handler for the GUI thread. Is there a better way to terminate the application in the context of an unhandled exception thrown by a background thread?

    Are you just trying to avoid a crash? Environment.Exit can cause deadlocking if exiting in the wrong kind of scenario; if you're just trying to avoid a crash, use
    GetCurrentProcess with
    TerminateProcess to terminate your own process.  It skips the notification phases that Environment.Exit uses which prevents the common deadlock scenarios.

  • STAD : Processing time when calling c program

    Hi,
    when I look at the central instance of our system, I see that much of the response time is recorded as "Processing time". Much more than 2 * cpu time. According to sap performance optimisation guide, this implies CPU or network bottleneck. We have no such bottleneck at this time.
    I am wondering if the time spent in a c program when called from a function is recorded as processing time because the system has no way of calculating its ressource usage ?
    Thank you
    Thierry

    Hi Thierry,
    For your CPU's.... if they are 16 cores in total then yes, you appear overloaded and semaphore waits can occur with so many things sharingthe OS memory areas.
    For monitoring STD Dialog in fact it is easier than you think. Here are 2 processes that you should find handy.
    Creating a usable monitor in RZ20
    1. Go to RZ20 and from the menu choose Extras - Activate Maintenenace Function
    2. Click on the Create button (blank page button) And in the popup, press enter and in the next popup type Thierry and press enter.
    3. Under My Favourites you should now see Thierry, single click this and click the Create button again.
    4. On the next screen single click on the work New Monitor and click the Create button again, press enter on the pop up and on the next popup Type Standard Dialog Response Time (or similar) and press enter
    5. Now single click on the line that says Standard Dialog Response Time and click the Create button again.
    6. In the Popup change the radio button option to Rule Node and press enter
    7. On the next Popup, in the Rule field do a drop down and double click on CCMS_GET_MTE_BY_CLASS and press enter
    8. On the next popup in the R3System Field do a dropdown and double click on the word <CURRENT> (it is important to choose this option) and in the MTECLASS field paste the word R3DialogDefLoadTime and press enter.
    9. Now you are backon the main screen, press the standard Save button, in the Popup type the word Performance and press enter.
    10.Now expand your monitor set and double click on the performance word to get the monitor, expand Standard Dialog Response time and you will be able to see the current performance of all instances.
    Now you have an RZ20 performance monitor you can add other nodes in here like dialog steps per minute, CPU, Paging and even context switches. Have a look at the SAP CCMS Monitor Templates - Entire System - Application Server - <instance> - R3Services - Dialog for some really useful ones. To get the MTECLASS single click on a noce and click the Properties button.
    Because you set up your collector system as <CURRENT> you can now export you defined monitor and import it into another system within seconds!... very very handy. It is just an XML you can have saved on your PC.
    Saving Standard Dialog Response Time History in RZ23N
    1. Go to transaction RZ23N and click on the button Assign Procedure
    2. In the middle panel of the top three panels click on the binoculars and find R3DialogDefLoadTime and come out of the find popup with a cancel (not a tick) so that R3DialogDefLoadTime is highlighted.
    3. In the left hand pane single click on your system (or if it is the only system and you do system copies, choos ethe * option)
    4. In the right hand pane single click on the option SAP_MIN_COLLECTION__NO_AGGREGATION
    5. Now you have the system, the MTECLASS and the collection method highlighted, click the button Assign Procedure
    and thats it!.... you will now keep 8 days (or a few more worth of data) but it reorgs itself... two jobs will now be running to collect and reorg the data. Go to the main RZ23N screen and press Collection/reorganisation jobs to see them without the hasstle of SM37.
    Click on the Maintain Schemas button to even create your own collection schemas. You may want to have one that aggregates values all the way up to yearly values. This is a lovely transaction. I recommend avoiding using weekly collection until you read teh help.
    Click in the 'Overview of Available Data' to be able to see the data collected and even graph it or copy it out to excel. You can run the reports in place also but its too much to mention here
    The Rolls Royce Reporter
    BI now has standard cubes to collect CCMS data from RZ23N and graph it. We do this for all our SLA data for customers and we in fact do it ourselves without BI help directly in the Central monitoring system so we have control and can design our own graphs that are far nicer than the horrible Solution Manager ones.
    feedback? your opinion?
    regards
    G

  • E71 hangs when call answered

    Hi Nokians,
    A moment ago, when I click "green" key to answer a call, my E71 hangs (No backgroud application is running)
    E71 is a great device but as days go by, more and more issue happened (refer below).
    I cannot accept a phone that hangs when answering a call. It does not improve my productivity at all. My previous Treo 680 had the same problem, that is why I switched to E61i, and now E71.
    To Nokia: you better improve! Cause E71 may be my last phone from Nokia.
    List of bugs
    1. Active Notes does not appear when call is make to the linked contact
    2. GPS not able to lock to satellite, and display current location on map (solved by changing the positioning server to supl.nokia.com)
    3. I connect to the email account and retrieve emails, the application shut down and returns to the home screen.
    4. I have 2 e-mail mailboxes, the 2nd mailbox disappeared when auto-retrieval is turned on, all e-mails are lost!
    5. Unable to terminate/hang-up when called number is busy (partially solved if automatic redial is diabled) or when an incoming call ends.
    6. When set powersaver to "None", when the screen goes to power save mode, it display a time. The time stops at that moment. And will no tick at all.
    7. Automatic Retrieval > E-Mail notifications > only in home network . When I open an incoming SMS, a warning message appeared, "Messaging: Memeory Full. Close some applications and try again." . I checked my phone's memory, it has 95MB free memory. I need to disable E-mail notifications, then only I am able to open an incoming SMS.
    8. The recent call list (in, out and missed) shows all icons as "mobile" despite the number is a telephone number.
    9. I am not able to enable both
    - Automatic retrieval > E-mail notifications
    - Automatic retrieval > E-mail retrieval
    E71 only allows either one of the above to be enabled
    10. Sometimes, E71 will hang when answering a call.

  • XlC compilation hangs when calling createEnvironment()

    Let me first say I am posting this message for a developer as I myself don't have much C/C++ development experience. My developer states he is trying to compile using xlC compiler and the -g -pg flags. He states it hangs when it gets to the OCCI call createEnvironment(). However, he says he can successfully compile when he ONLY uses the -g flag. Does anyone know what might be causing this? He also stated that they used to use the -g and -pg flags together BEFORE they tried compiling using the OCCI calls.

  • JCo Server High Availability

    How can I make the JCo server implement "High Availability" functionality. The SAP Server which the makes calls to the JCo Server is HA-aware. So if there is a failover, the SAP Server switches over to the other instance but the JCo server keeps sending the message "Server unavailable". Is there a solution for this problem.
    Thanks.

    Single Appliance not necessarily means Single Point of Failure, an appliance with HW Redundancy could handle failure and provide High Availability, if only configured well.
    Does Symantec BrightMail Appliance provide such redundancy configuration?
    You will have to ask their support or in a Symantec Forum.

  • InfoPackage Hangs when called from Process Chain

    We recently implemented the 2LIS_04_P_ARBPL DataSource and have scheduled the execution of a Delta InfoPackage in our nightly Process Chains.
    After working correctly for 2 weeks the InfoPackage has hung the last 3 nights. It is being called and when I view the process chain log it is in the yellow (in process) status. When I look in SM37 in R/3 the extractor has not been called.
    All of our master data and transactional data from other areas runs prior to this extractor and works perfectly via the process chain and if I force the InfoPackage to red and re-execute manually for 2LIS_04_P_ARBPL I have no problems.
    How/where should I troubleshoot this?

    Hi Jonathan,
    Goto your process chain-> Select the delta infopackage -> right click and select wait time and enter the time in seconds. You could set it to 600 secs(10 minutes).
    This would be a permanent solution to your problem as you need not go to BD87 each time for your data load.
    Bye

  • Hangs when calling report to be displayed in PDF format

    I am calling reports from a form using RUN_PRODUCT to be displayed in PDF format. Initially, there is no problem generating and displaying reports, but inevitably at some point when a report is run it just hangs. Rebooting the server temporarily fixes problem. Any ideas on what is happening?
    Using Forms & Reports Server 6i on Windows NT 4.0

    It seems that the key to the solution is to shrink the margins.....

    the report user has permission over the file util output directory.

  • Getting session hang When calling Function from SQL query

    Hi All,
    I am using Oracle 8.1.7.4.0. I have a fucntion in a Package and I am calling it from the SQL query. When I am firing the query my oracle session is going to hang position and I am not able to any thing. I have to kill the session.
    But this same thing is working fine in Oracle 9.i.
    There are no out parameter and no DML, DDL and DCL statement in this fucntion.
    Could you please get back me what is the problem on it.
    Regards
    SUN

    Check why your session hangs.
    Just a few ideas:
    * Blocking locks?
    * Endless loop?
    * Performance (maybe it is just slow in orac8i and you have to wait a bit longer). Check the execution plans of the SQL statements in your function.
    * Don't use a function, but direct SQL, it is faster in both versions.
