  • NW2004s ABAP Sneak Preview - License Installation - System No. is empty

I have requested extended demo licence for ABAP Sneak Preview. I received the following in mail from SAP.
    Your Hardware key      : XXXXXXXXXXX
    Your License Key       : XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    License Expiration date: 20060521
    SID                    : NSP
    Installation-Nr.       : DEMOSYSTEM
When I am trying to install demo (90 days) license using transaction SLICENSE, I get a screen asking for
    SAP System:      NSP
    Inst. Number:    DEMOSYSTEM
    Hardware Key:    XXXXXXXXXXXX
    System Number:   <leaving empty>
    Expires On:      21.05.2006
    Key:             XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
If I enter the System Number as blank it says "Invalid License Key". On the SLICENSE screen it says
    System Number              "System No. Empty"
Please suggest, What value is need to be provided for system number.

    Hi Asish,
I had the same problem. After loging off and loging on again, I skipped the field System Number, filling in the other details.
This time the license was accepted. I hope it works for you too.

I believe that I had to install the jre in order to get the installation to run,  but this was when I was installing the SP4 version.  Maybe you do need to do it, but I am confused as to why it is not in the instructions.  Anyway, lets go that route and see what happens.
Download and install the jdk, this will also have the jre(java runtime envirnoment.
J2SE SDK version 1.4.2_08 or 1.4.2_09 (Sun JDK 1.5 not tested). You can download this from Sun Microsystems at http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.4.2_09/index.html. Please note that version 1.4.2_10 may cause installation problems.
Once installed,  we need to create a envirnoment variable.
Right-click on My computer, properties, click advanced, enviornment varibles,  under "System Variables", click new,  name the variable as SAPINST_JRE_HOME, make the value as C:\j2sdk1.4.2_09\jre
The path above will be the directory that the jdk is installed to,  so check the file path.
In my case, i have jdk 1.4.2_09,  if you use 08, then you need to make that adjustment.
Next, reboot, and try the installation again.

  • ABAP sneak preview (NSP) patch without Solution Manager after patch 11

I'm wondering if there is any plan to allow us ABAP sneak preview users to patch our system beyond patch level 11. So far I kept my NSP system up-to-date by patching it regularly. But now the Solution Manager is required to download the current patch level 12.
Is there any SolMan sneak preview available? Is there any add-on to upgrade the NSP itself into a SolMan system? - After all SolMan runs on 2004s ...
I noticed that trial version with SP12 is out - does this mean that the new strategy is to replace with each and every SP the Sneak-Preview-System? If there wasn't the lengthy (and often painful) setup I wouldn't mind. On top one would have to export and re-import all developments and configurations one would like to keep. Can you (SAP) not simply provide for us non-SolMan-havers the Service Packs as a simple and much more compact download (compared to the entire NSP download) ?

    Hi George,
Try to delete the registry keys mentioned here Re: How to uninstall Netweaver 7.0 ABAP trial version ?
To use it, run the clean up tool for the registry, press the radio button for 'Uninstall Service', enter 'NSP' for SID and '00' for the number.
This will only delete the registry entries for the application server, not for the database.
To access the DB via MMC, the service <b>SAP DB WWW</b> must be started. To do so, go to 'Start'->'Run...' and enter 'net start sapdbwww'. After the service is started, you can use the database manager within SAP MMC or just browse to  <a href="http://localhost:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-client=000">http://localhost:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-client=000</a>, which will actually use the same HTML UI.
Anyway, if the uninstallation runs normal, you shouldn't have any problems with registry keys.
    Try this:
    - Unistall system and DB
    - Use the registry clean tool
    - Delete the folder of InstallShield (usually C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Universal\SAP)
    - Reboot your system
    - Start the installation again without running any application (no firewall, antivirus etc.)
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Klaus

  • Is it possible to apply service packs to NW04s ABAP Sneak Preview?

Service Pack 7 to NW04s contains the DEMO_REGEX_TOY, which I'd like to install in my ABAP sneak preview system.  I have some questions about that:
    1.  Is it possible to apply maintenance to the Sneak Preview?
    2.  What service packages need to be isntalled to upgrade the sneak preview rel/level from 7/5 to 7/7: 6 and then 7, or just 7?  That is, are those service packs cumulative?
    3.  I am unable to download the service packs from https://service.sap.com using the download manager.  I get an error in the trace output that says, "Unable to Find Certification Path."  I have no idea what that means, or how to circumvent that problem.  Is there an alternative way to get the Service Packs?
Thanks for any help/guidance you all can provide!

    Thanks.
I did manage to download the packs.  For others who may have similar difficulties, the solution to my download problem was to specify (in IE) http://service.sap.com as a trusted site.  That allowed Download Manager to get the files.
I'll also add that I successfully applied packs 6 & 7, as well as SP 70020 (required to update SPAM before applying pack 7) and am now in business!
(Not sure I have the correct terminology for those - here's the file names I applied: KB70006.CAR, KB70007.CAR, KD70020.CAR)

  • ABAP sneak preview - BW: what is missing ?

    Hi all,
Despite little documentation, I finally managed to get BW working in the ABAP sneak preview (thanks to Re: ABAP Preview and BW).
According to the SDN download page, the announced full edition (J2EE+ABAP) will also include "SAP BW Java Components". Can anyone tell me what these components are and what functionality I am missing with just the ABAP engine installed ? Specifically I'd like to try out the BI SDK. Are these "SAP BW Java Components" required for the BI SDK ?
    Thanks,
    Cheers,
    Heiko

    Hi Raja,
please have a look at Topic: BW Standalone Version.

  • Where can I find an Access key for the user with "AS ABAP sneak preview" ?

    Hi all,
I have installed AS ABAP sneak preview on my laptop.
I use username "bcuser" and password "minisap". when I try to create some objects like, i.e. Function Group for Function Module, then it ask for an access key.
Where can I find an access key for this ABAP SNEAK PREVIEW for user "bcuser"?
I have gone thru some documents, I know we need to register user in OSS and need to get an access key from the marketplace but can I register this user "bcuser" or it's already register? I need some more specific information to resolve this issue.
Please advise me on above question.
    Thanks,
    Haresh Solanki

    Hi Rich,
I have entered ZH_XYZ as a Function Group name to create a new function group. While I am creating it, it asks for the Access Key. I tries to enter an Access Key here for the first time and it says wrong entry for access key.
Also if I try to create new Function Module, it ask me to select the Function Group. As I couldn't create a new Function Group, I tried to select from existing(from SAP System's FG), still it asks for an access key, I enter the an Access Key here, then also it says wrong entry.
I really got confused with this Access Key thing, can you provide me some insights?
    Thanks,
    Haresh Solanki

  • Problems in installing the content in the ABAP Sneak Preview

    Hello All,
Have installed the ABAP Sneak preview and have activated the BW on client 001.  Was also trying to import the content into the BW system.
In the SAINT transaction code, the content package is recognised, but when i try loading this, this fails in the stage CHECK_REQUIREMENTS. Since i have never done this before, was wondering if i am missing out the configuration steps before importing any components or the content.
Are there some steps to configure the transport organiser etc before importing any component or SP or the content into the system ?
    Thanks for all the responses,
    Best Regards,
    Dabre

If you run the install in foreground you will get a lot more information.  In my case it was erroring because the transport system hadn't been configured yet.  Heading into STMS cleared the error for me.

  • What comes with 2004s ABAP Sneak Preview?

Can anybody explain the contents that come with the ABAP Sneak Preview? I saw someone referring to minisap....Does this mean I get all the functional parts of traditional R/3?? Can I rite regular ABAP programs using Standard R/3 Tables??
    Sorry for my ignorance.....:(
    Rajani

The sneak preview is an ABAP system that you can use to learn the new technology that SAP has provided.  This includes BSP, Web Services, and Web Dynpro for ABAP.  Also, delivered in the new version is the New ABAP Editor as well as the New Debugger.  This is not an R/3, so there is not functional modules for MM, PP, SD, etc.  There is the flight model(SFLIGHT, etc) where you can use these tables to practice your development skills.

If you installed it on an XP machine, restore the system back to the date and delete all related folders.
