Abbreviations

Hi guys,
Is there a place where i can easily find information about abbreviations used in SAP and ABAP?
For example, i need to kow what "PNP" "PAP" and "PCH" stand for, but i can't find a thing.

hi,
PNP – HR Master and time data,
PCH – Personnel Development,
PAP – Applicant Master data or other?
Choose Database PNP if you want to create a functional area covering only Human Resources master data and/or time management data.
Choose PCH if you want to create a functional area covering only Human Resources Planning data.
Choose Database PCH, (since this database can refer to Database PNP) if you want to create a functional area covering Human Resources master data and following an organizational structure from Human Resources Planning.
PNP includes infotypes 0000 to 0999 and 2000 to 2999,
PCH includes infotypes 1000 to 1999 and
PAP includes infotypes 4000 – 4005 (as well as some PA infotypes)

  • How to substitute a month abbreviation for the posting period in a query

    Hi,
    I have a query that lists the Posting Period (0FISCPER3) characteristic in the rows and key figures across the columns.  Is there a way to display the Posting Period as a month abbreviation instead of a number?
    So for example, instead of displaying the periods 01, 02, 03, 04... in the rows, I would like to display the abbreviation of the corresponding month, for example Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep... etc.
    Thanks,
    Mustafa.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the suggestions.  If the master data texts are updated for characteristic "0FISCPER3", this would assume that all Company Codes have the same Fiscal Year Variant.  What happens in a situation where there are multiple Company Codes with different Fiscal Year Variants, a case which is common for multinational companies?
    Can such a manipulation be performed in the query itself based on the Fiscal Year Variant?
    Regards,
    Mustafa.

    At one point I was somewhat uneducated as a consumer on certain abbreviations.  I began to check around the internet but I never found a complete list of all of the abbreviations used in today’s technological world.  Over time I have collected a list of every network and printer-related term in relation to HP.  I am happy to share this with the world because sometimes when trying to troubleshoot within the forums and other web-based documents the writers can forget that not everyone knows the abbreviations and if you do not know sometimes you can get left behind and feel frustrated.   If you know of any other industry-standard abbreviations regarding printers, faxing, and network-connections feel free to post more here.

  • CSS Level 2 Support for RGB Hex Abbreviation

    when creating a style sheet during the tutorial in
    Flash 8: Training from the Source, i abbreviated my hex
    colors as usual when i have repeating pairs (in this particular
    case #999 instead of #999999) and the publised Flash page would not
    display the correct color. it displayed black text instead of gray.
    after changing the #999 to the full #999999, the republished
    Flash page displayed the page correctly. I understand from the book
    Flash 8 does not support level 2 CSS, which includes more than my
    simple abbreviation issue.
    when do you (Adobe Flash Team) expect to incorporate CSS
    level 2 support into the product? is it supported by Flex 2, as I
    am not too familiar with that platform yet?
    thank you,

    Hi Mike,
    OHJ uses the ICE Browser, which we license from a company named ICESoft. It generally compares favorably with other Java-based browsers, although it is not as complete as a native browser such as IE or Firefox.
    There is a list of what is and is not supported in CSS:
    http://www.icesoft.com/developer_guides/icebrowser/htmlguide/featuresappendix3.html#86328
    We recently finally resolved the licensing issues that were holding us back from releasing a version of OHJ with JavaScript support. The current versions don't support JavaScript, but our next major release will.
    Depending on your needs, we also have OHW, which is a server based help system, that uses the client's native browser.

  • Edit Multiple State Abbreviations in Contact Card

    I am using Address Book to populate envelopes to print from a contact list of 890 contacts.
    I have the addresses imported, and everything looks good EXCEPT the information imported with the state abbreviation in Xx format (uppercase lowercase). I would like it to be standard for USPS and be XX (uppercase uppercase).
    Here's what I mean -
    Currently looks like this: My Name
    123 Street Name
    St. Paul, Mn 55102
    and I want it to look like this :My Name
    123 Street Name
    St. Paul, MN 55102
    Is there anyway to do a batch edit to set the "State" field to caps, or both uppercase letters? I have exhausted myself getting this sheet set up and finally imported and have no energy left to keep researching how to do this (the file I was supplied with was a mess!). I do have my preferences set to United States for the Address Format, and I did not see any way to do this in the Templates.
    I would really appreciate some advice on this!
    Thanks so much!

    hi stef,
    I have two recommendations, but neither is a complete solution, just a path to start down...
    (1) I'd ask the same question in applescript forums here on the apple discussions site. I've had plenty of good input from folks over there. being that AB is an apple app, I'm almost positive that it's scriptable. if that is truly the case, then you just need to find the syntax to scour your AB db file, and change the entries related to states. I wouldn't be surprised if someone has already created it and if it's not available via someone pointing you to it from this forum, I'd just do a bunch of google searches refining your query to get better results. at the very least, you'll find plenty of applescript gurus to ask about it, or perhaps get them to create a little script for you if they're feeling generous. most of the people on the forums are, unless they're only here for help for themselves (which plenty are).
    (2) if you have a good text editor (which technically you do in plain old TextEdit), you can export all of your contacts to a big vcf file and do a bunch of find/replace runs on the state entry for each item listed. it's not as pretty, but might get you done quicker than taking the time to find someone to help edit it within AB. the concern I would have would be if the groups that you use will be retained when the file was re-imported back into AB, as you'd delete all the other contacts first before bringing these new ones back in.
    as always, back up your data first (if you have time machine running, you should be fine as long as you run an extra backup just before you begin to experiment), and sometimes I just do a quick and dirty protection option by duplicating the file that I'm going to play with (while in place) and then zip up the backup copy just in case.
    if I get some more time later today, I'll try to grab my own file and check the syntax to help you determine what to find/replace if you go that route. I'd need some help on the applescript option so I'm not much help there. I'd try that forum first though, as it could be a rather helpful script to share with eh rest of us if you do get it.
    cheers,
    - jeremy

  • Oracle Text Query of abbreviated word / name

    I'm new to Oracle Text so please excuse the (probably) simple question. I want to be able to create a search that excludes (includes?) special characters and/or spaces between an abbreviated name. I'm not sure if it's possible but I would like to be able to return all of the below results if someone queried for "ABC" in one form or another.
    Would this be something I'd add to a thesaurus? I see there is a STOPLIST but I'm not sure if there is the opposite of a stoplist.
    Thanks in advance!

    Indexes are case-insensitive by default, so let's ignore that.
    You can make wal-mart and wal*mart match walmart by defining "-" and "*" as SKIPJOINS characters. However, you cannot make wal mart match walmart, other than by using NDATA.
    NDATA does seem to work - any variation of wal mart walmart wal*mart and wal-mart do manage to match both walmart and wal mart. See example:
    SQL> create table testcase (text varchar2(2000));
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into testcase values ('<nd>walmart</nd>');
    1 row created.
    SQL> insert into testcase values ('<nd>wal mart</nd>');
    1 row created.
    SQL> exec ctx_ddl.drop_section_group('tcsg')
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> exec ctx_ddl.create_section_group('tcsg', 'xml_section_group')
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> exec ctx_ddl.add_ndata_section('tcsg', 'nd', 'nd')
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> create index testcase_index on testcase(text)
      2  indextype is ctxsys.context
      3  parameters ('section group tcsg')
      4  /
    Index created.
    SQL> select * from testcase where contains (text, 'ndata(nd, wal mart)') > 0;

  • Abbreviation Function in Oracle

    Hi,
    Do we have a function something like
    Abbreviate(string value) , which abbreviates all the common words in value.
    For example if I give
    Abbreviate('Aliens Incorporation') and it returns 'Aliens Inc' .
    Abbreviate('Aliens Limited') and it returns 'Aliens Ltd' .
    I need a function which could apply common abbreviations.
    does a function of this kind exist in oracle already ?
    Many Thanks

    For a limited set of abbreviations, it would be relatively easy to write a basic abbreviator, however, to make it bullet proof would be really hard. You would need to consider things like:
    abbreviate('Limited Incorporated') should return 'Limited Inc.' not 'Ltd. Inc.'
    abbreviate('Avenue Road') should return 'Avenue Rd.' not 'Ave. Rd.'
    As a quick and dirty version, I would approach it something like this.
    Create a table to hold the words and their abbreviations
    SQL> SELECT * FROM abbrev;
    WORD                                               ABBR
    LIMITED                                            Ltd.
    INCORPORATED                                       Inc.
    COMPANY                                            Co.
    ROAD                                               Rd.
    AVENUE                                             Ave.Create a function along the lines of:
    CREATE FUNCTION abbreviate(p_words IN VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2 AS
       l_abbr abbrev.abbr%TYPE;
       l_word abbrev.word%TYPE;
    BEGIN
       l_word := TRIM(SUBSTR(p_words, INSTR(p_words, ' ', -1)));
       SELECT abbr INTO l_abbr
       FROM abbrev
       WHERE word = UPPER(l_word);
       RETURN SUBSTR(p_words, 1, INSTR(p_words, ' ', -1))||l_abbr;
    EXCEPTION
       WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
          RETURN p_words;
    END;Then, you could use it like:
    SQL> SELECT Abbreviate('Aliens Limited') FROM dual;
    ABBREVIATE('ALIENSLIMITED')
    Aliens Ltd.
    SQL> SELECT Abbreviate('Multi Word Company Limited') FROM dual;
    ABBREVIATE('MULTIWORDCOMPANYLIMITED')
    Multi Word Company Ltd.
    SQL> SELECT Abbreviate('Avenue Road') FROM dual;
    ABBREVIATE('AVENUEROAD')
    Avenue Rd.
    SQL> SELECT Abbreviate('Main Street') FROM dual;
    ABBREVIATE('MAINSTREET')
    Main StreetBullet proofing and error handling left as a n exercise for the student.

  • Naming Abbreviation & Glossary Editor not working properly in Datamodeler

    Hi ,
    I wuold like to work on Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler 3.0 for my current project and now I am doing a PoC using OSDM (Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler 3.0 tools) ,It is very good tools except Naming standard & Abbreviation. • Currency symbols on crystal reports rather abbreviation

    This may have been discussed before so my aplogise, i'm fairly new to SAP B1 & crystal so may need some simple instructions
    I am editing the crystal Purchase Order and I have managed to replace foreign currency abbreviation such as EUR & USD with € and $ respectively but when the GBP abbreviation should be shown as £ it is not.
    I believe it has something to do with the OPOR.DocCur which doesn't seem to be used on the purchase order when the business partner is Local Currency (GBP)
    I used a case statement like below:
    case "USD" : "$"
    case "EUR : "€"
    case "GBP" : "£"
    default "£"
    I also removed the case "GBP" : "£" but no joy GBP is showing when the purchase order uses a british business partner.
    What am i doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Lan,
    1.Follow as per Kalaiyarasan Veerasamy .
    2.You have to give {OCRN.DocCurrCod} in Currency symbol formula editor.

  • Technical Abbreviations for System Status in stwb_2

    Hello Gurus,
    We have created a custom transaction with different user statuses.
    Not able to find, where & how these user statuses are aligned with system statuses.
    In service desk, we assign the user status. But when we look at the status report from test plan management screen(stwb_2), it displays the system status.
    Some issue with these system statuses that their actual textual representations are not displayed, and instead their technical abbreviations like E0009, E0010, E0011, E0012 are getting displayed.
    Can anybody throw some light in solving this issue? Your help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & best regds,
    Alagammai.

    Hi Xavier,
    Pls ignore my last reply. I have checked in the wrong system. I was able to see the custom transaction created by me. I was also able to see the textual representations as below for the technical abbreviations in table TJ30 as below.
    E0009  Fixed
    E0010  Retest
    E0011  Re-Open
    E0012  Closed
    FYI, I am able to see the correct textual representations like "Fixed / Retest / Re-Open / Closed" in the crm_dno_monitor screen.
    The problem is only when I try to see the same service desk messages from the "Messages Tab" of stwb_work transaction. Hope now I am clear about where I am getting the issue.
    Again I am assuring you that the text equivalents are not missed out or blank anywhere. They are present in the table TJ30. Do you have any clue that can solve my issue?
    Thanks & Best regds,
    Alagammai.

    I have given Technical abbreviation as SWC itelf.. BUt When I see the various software unit in the ProductA ,  I find 2 entries even though I have created only one.
    1.ProductA : (default )
    2.ProductA: SWC (this is one i have created )
    Kindly clarify?
    regards

  • How can i import abbreviations in text to speech without using voice over?

    Hi, I have recently discoverd text to speech on my macbook, and I like what it can do. I would like  to edit the way it pronounces some abbreviations. I discovered this was possible with voiceover. I would like to do this even when voice over is turned off so I can highlight a text i want to read on a pdf and it would read everything as I want it to. Maybe there is a third party app that makes this possible?(This could come in handy when I want something to use it for biology books where there are a lot of abbreviations used, like ADP/ATP/NHDAP/...)

    Hi,
    You can load your data automatically in the Multisim word generator. Follow these steps:
    - Save your data file (in excel .xslx ir .csv format) on your computer
    - Change the extension of the file to ".dp"
    - Double-click the word generator in Multisim and click on Set...
    - In the Settings dialog box, click on Load and then Accept
    - This will prompt you to select the .dp file you have on your computer, select it and you're good to go
    However, in Multisim you have the option of creating your own custom simulation analysis and instrument.
    I will try creating the instrument and send it back to you but it might take some time.
    Multisim and LabVIEW are very powerful in test automation, with the custom instruments you create for Multisim you don't need to export your data file into excel from LabVIEW (or MathCAD or other tools) and then reload it into Multisim. The test procedure is automated instead.
    Please check this reference design about automated simulation

    Here is how you can create your own custom measurement tool in Multisim and LabVIEW, but as I mentioned, I will create the word generator and come back to you anyways

  • How to use abbreviated Pinyin in iOS 6?

    I am delighted that iOS 6 is finally launched.  In its advertisement, it reads that iOS 6 has improved its Chinese input methods, allowing its users to use abbreviated Pinyin.  So I tried but cannot find the way to switch from full Pinyin to abbreviated one.  Could someone kindly tell me how to?  I am using new iPad by the way.

  • Global contact directory for abbreviated dialling in CUCM9.1

    I have recently installed a Cisco Small Business 6000 solution for a customer which is running CUCM 9.1. We have been asked to provide a system wide directiory of contacts which can be used as abbreviated dialing, accessable to all phone users. Does anyone know of a quick way this can be achieved?
    Hope someone can help.

    Other than just creating translation patterns for that, you would need to create a custom directory for your phones with such data.
