Ability to control the data rate of AC3 audio

I'd like to be able to have more control over the way Encore transcodes audio from WAV files. When working with large projects where every last byte counts, it would be very helpful to save some space by encoding the AC3 at a lower rate.

Bryan, it's a perfectly reasonable question if you didn't know that!
The specs issue can be extremely confusing, and I guess this is what happens when things are designed by committee.
No need to feel dumb at all, as when I first started out I didn't know this either, and that is actually what started the whole thing off for me - I decided I needed to know more about the specs.
There is a great website called DVD Replica, where you can get for a very small amount of cash a document called the "Unofficial DVD-Video Specifications". It's unofficial as it does not have the DVD Forum stamp on it, and didn't cost $10,000 to buy it.

How to control the data rate of a digital write to a port on a PCI-6509

I am using a PCI-6509 to write digital words to a custom digital board. I can generate the proper patterns with the 6509 but the resulting pulse rates are very high (150+ khz) which is very noisy. I know the board cannot have its clock controlled. Is there a simple way to adjust the output rate? I am generating a 1D array and writing this to the device with the NI-DAQmx commands. About all I could come up with is interleaving this array multiple times to stretch the resulting pulse. Anything more elegant, as this seems pretty brute force?

Hello Tom,
When doing software-timed updates, you can use a delay function in your loop which is doing the DAQmx Write. Increasing this delay should increase the delay between every sample that is written. Because this is software-timed, it is not deterministic so the time between the samples being output might be greater than what you are actually specifying the delay. However, this is not really a disadvantage compared to the current method you are using (duplicating array values to stretch the pulse) because it is also software-timed. I hope this helps!

If your source file is flat file, add extra three fields with blank (just add field separator say comma for each extra field) and then load. It should be ok.

What is the Data Rate of the Cache in Adobe Premiere CS6

Hi,
Trying to build a raid array to edit with and want to know how much speed i need for caching read/write drive for premiere and After Effects. I'm of the impression that the cache doesn't need more than a single 7200rpm drive (~120MB/s) but really i have no clue what the data rate that adobe caches to is or what the data rate to read is
so it's 2 questions
how fast does premiere write the cache? (i know this is system dependent but a ballpark figure would be good for say a sandy bridge i5 2500k system with a 2 raid 7200rpm drive)
and
what's the data rate to read the cache in a 1080 24p file?
also, when doing the final export does premiere/after effects read from the Cache or the original files or both?

ok i've figured out the physics of this question.
The Cache Read data rate is always larger than the Cache Write data rate, because the computer would have to be rendering to Cache faster than realtime for the Write rate to be higher, which would make it unnecessary to render to cache in the 1st place. So I'm really only worried about the Cache read data rate. Does adobe have a paper that tells us what the data rate is for different sequences.

canon h.264 1080 24p
AVChd 1080 24p from my GH2 with a 44mb
and
r3d 5k epic footage 24p - (this is painful to edit )
anyone know where this info is?

File compression in Mavericks: can you control the compression rate?

Hi all,
Is there anyway a user can control the commpression rate in Mavericks. I previously used Stuffit Expander and the built in compression in Entourage 2008. As Mavericks has its own compression utility I cannot find where you can control the rate etc.
I have removed Stuffit Expander 2010.

Not via the GUI. However, the Terminal command compress does have a compression ratio setting. Launch the Terminal app in /Utilities and type this into the window that pops up:
man compress

Hi,
Im new to all this, and I need a real quick solution as this needs to be done for the next few days, please help.
I get a "the data rate of this file is too high encore"the data rate of this file is too high for DVD" message when I try to brun to disk.`
I assume this means the bitrate I used when exporting from premiere? I only have one file to go on the DVD, what bitrate should I use?

Profile parameter to control the data valume going through PI

Now I'm doing the stress test on PI and found that some error occurs when executing the test of about 16MB data volume.
Does anyone know some profile parameters (RZ10/RZ11 or someting like that ) to control the data valume going through PI ?

Hi Hideki,
In your XI system, use T Code SXMB_ADM.....got to Integration Engine Configuration....select category-> Runtime...there u will find a parameter MAX_MESSAGE_TRANSFER_SIZE which enables you to set the maximum size in MB of the message packages to be transferred from one system to another in a message transfer....u can set values upto 100 MB.
Another important parameter is EO_MSG_SIZE_LIMIT, u will find this in category Tuning....this parameter enables serial processing....also it is is designed to improve performance since there is often not enough memory to process multiple large messages simultaneously......possible values is 0 - 2,097,151 (KB).

I am trying to control the flow rate of a Merck-Hitachi L-6200A HPLC pump. I already found a VI in this forum in the post listed below:

I set the pump switches according to the manual as well as I have switched the pump to remote mode. Also I adjusted the settings of my COM port in the windows system manager according to pump and LabView settings. The problem is, that the pump won't react do any signal sent from the computer. I used "free serial port monitor" to ensure that a string is sent througt the COM port. Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem here? I'd really appreciate some help. Not able to Control the Data Control

Hi, I have a bar chart which is bound to datacontrol through one iterator and one access iterator, and is placed on one splitter. Now on moving splitter and resizing the chart datacontrol re-fetches the data from the server. Why ? Cant it just re-size the chart without any connection with server. Also, i tried putting refreshCondition, and as it get calls two times everytime (one for JSF and another for ADF) and set refreshCondtion to false after second call. In that case i got no data. Also i tried refresh Ifneeded in both interators/accessIterator, still No Data. Is there any way i just execute data control only one time and henceforth can avoid its execution ?

This was the RefreshCondition i was talking about, but after putting this i am not getting any data. And removing this condition will invoke the datacontrol each time i move the splitter. I want to be it like when i order to refresh then only it should execute.
Everytime execution till the server unnecessary makes my application very slow, and i want to be as faster than we see charts in other technologies.

How to control the data to display for every users?

Im creating a module in ORACLE forms6i and I want to control all the data to display for every USERs. I have 1 Table and it has 5 columns.
My module has 5 columns and 5 rows of records to display.
Problems:
For USER1, I want to display all DATA in column3 and column4 only and all remaining columns shoud be null.
For USER2 , I want to dislplay all data in Column1 only and all remaining columns should be null.
How can i control all the data to display for each columns? Can you help me please. Im using the Clear_Items but its not working only the first row are null but the remaining
rows has its records.

I understand that you want certain columns not to show at all on the canvas when a certain user opens the form. Then, in the when-new-form-instance trigger, you should set_item_property(x_item, visible, property_false) for each item you do not want to be dislayed, depending on the user.

I have two avalanche photo diodes connected to two counter entrances on a 6602 (ctr 0 and ctr 1).
As can be seen in the attached VI, I'm generating a signal on ctr2 and using that as an external clock for the counters.
My objective is to accurately read the counter values at a rate of ~100KHz (i.e. 0.01 ms between measurements) and to be able to control the rate via the front panel. This should be possible (80MHz timebase), however when I run the program it is only able to actually sample at ~5 ms intervals. Also I'm encountering error 200141 even though I set the rate in the counter to 1M, which should buffer enough.
What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Aadam,
After looking at your code, I would not use the DAQ assistants to implement this. The DAQ assistant are best to be used for simple acquistion and since you are looking to use more lower level properties of you card, I would suggest to move to use the lower level VIs. It will be easier to understand where the problem is occurring at and will run better than using the DAQ assistant.
I have done some initial research for you to implement this design. I have described each of them below and how they will assist you.
The first example I have found is the Change Counter Output Frequency While the Task is Running. In this example, it will show you how to change the frequency and duty cycle of a counter output frequency task. One thing to remember about these counters are that the frequency will not change until the period has finished. For example, if you changed the frequency in the middle of a period of frequency of 1 Hz, it has to complete the 1Hz period before changing it to the next frequency.
The next example I would investgate is in the NI Example Finder called Correlated Dig Write With Counter.vi. The NI Example Finder can be found in Help » Find Examples... This VI will explain how to use the counter as a clock for another task. You will need to combine the concepts of the first example with this to make sure that you can vary the sample clock.
Finally, in the NI Example Finder, there is an example how to count digital events with an external clock called Count Digital Events-Buffered-Continuous-Ext Clk.vi. With this example, I first suggest to add the counter task and make sure you can get the external clock to work. After this, I would then implement changing clock.

How do we control the data package size that comes into the DSO?

I have this scenario:
Initial information (numbers are not real):
I have 10 contracts in CRM (one order documents)
Each contract when extracted becomes 50 records.
Running BW 3.x
(1) Now i start data extraction in BW, i will receive 5 packets, split like following:
DP1: 100 records (contract 1 and 2)
DP2: 100 records (contract 3 and 4)
DP3: 50 records (contract 5)
These records are stored in the PSA.
(2) Then, it seems the system keeps the same package size and send these DPs to DSO like following:
DP1 -> 100 records -> DSO
DP2 -> 100 records -> DSO
DP3 -> 50 records -> DSO
What i want:
I have a special case and i want to be able to do the following starting from (2).
Instead of sending
DP1 -> 100 records -> DSO
DP2 -> 100 records -> DSO
DP3 -> 50 records -> DSO
I want to send:
DP1 -> 10 records -> DSO
DP2 -> 10 records -> DSO
DP3 -> 10 records -> DSO
DP25 -> 10 records -> DSO
Do I have control over the data package size (number of records)?
Can the DPs between DataSource <-> DSO be different then the ones from SourceSystem <->DataSource?
Can i even go further and do some kind of selection to be able to send like following:
DP1 -> all records from item 01 to 10 of contract 1 -> DSO
DP2 -> all records from item 11 to 20 of contract 1 -> DSO
DP3 -> all records from item 01 to 10 of contract 2 -> DSO
DP4 -> all records from item 11 to 20 of contract 2 -> DSO
DPn -> all records from item 11 to 20 of contract 10 -> DSO

If you are using infopackage try the setting in the infopackage ie in the scheduler menu at the top
choose DataS: Default data transfer in which you can change the package size of data
if using DTP in Extraction Tab you can specify Package Size.

HT2492 ML Dashboard Calendar widget has lost the ability to change the date.

In ML the Dashboard calendar widget has lost the ability to change the day to other days. You can still navigate to different months with the arrow keys, but clicking on any day has no effect. I have not found a keystroke/mouse combination that allows the date to be changed from today's date.
This is a useful function for me, to quickly be able to see what I have scheduled on any day. Now I have to open iCal, which is annoying.

You are correct that there is no way to sort jobs in the print queue window in Snow Leopard. This is to be considered expected behavior. In other words, that's the way the software engineers intend it to work in Snow Leopard. You should provide Apple with feedback as to what you want. Why cant I control the sample rate?

I am sure there is a simple programming answer to this but I am drawing a blank. I would like to slow down my sample rate in the following block diagram, however changing the sample rate at my Sample Clock seems to have no effect. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help

In a regular while loop, tasks can run in parallel.
