Ability to edit a DVD created on other equipment.

I have an old video my mother had made from 8mm film. I bought a RCA DVD Recorder/Player and copied the video to DVD. When I loaded the DVD into the Mac, it plays, but I can't figure out how to edit the video stream (lots of bouncing around and heads cut off). Is there a product out there that will allow you to edit a DVD that wasn't created in either iMovie or iDVD? I'm still planning on duping the videos, but sure would like to edit them down.

I downloaded the trial s/w and tried to convert the files, but I keep getting a message that the file format is unsupported. I tried to send a question to DVDxDV's webite, but it kept timing out and when you go to their forums, they want everything but your SSN. They don't need to know my birthday to provide support.
The files I find on the DVD are VIDEO_RM, which contains VIDEO_RM.BUP/DAT & IFO fiels, as well as a ZRN_DISC.DAT file
and
VIDEO_TS, which contains: VIDEO_TS.BUP/.IFO/.VOB AND VTS010.BUP/.IFO &.VOB files.
I don't need the audio files, just the video and I don't know enough about the tech specs for video to figure out what's happening.
Any help would be appreciated.

When I open a form created in forms central in acrobat pro XI, how can I get permission to add a watermark? The system says I do not have permission to make the change. Apple Preview: While moving/editing text boxes created by others in a PDF, font color of that text changes for some reason and I don't want it to!!

I have a project where I've given about 10 people 50 PDF files each to mark up in red text, and send back to me. When they send them back, I in turn need to move or edit some of the text boxes they have created in Apple Preview. For about 8 of these 10 people, when I edit their text boxes and/or move them, Apple Preview immediately changes the text color of the red text to black, or to white. How do I get it to stop doing this? Is this a setting I need to have them change on their end? Or can I fix this on my end (preferable)?

When you try to move or edit the text "Sollazzo", it changes to black or white. I need it to say red. Thank you for your help!

It doesn't go anywhere in that: that isn't a feed, it's a web page. A feed is a text file in XML format.

Can I download images from a DVD created with a newer version of iPhoto?

Hi, my first discussion forum! Why can't I download image files from a DVD created on my mother's computer(iMac G4 with Mac OS 10.4.11)?. She's running iPhoto6 and I'm running iPhoto5. Are'n't they compatible? The disc loads up OK then says at the bottom of iPhoto page "No Photos". Have tried with several disks. Many Thanks for yr help anyone.

No, iPhoto 5 can't read a library or DVD created in iPhoto 6, because the structure of the libraries are much different.
Your Mac should be able to read the DVD. Use the Finder to copy the contents of the disc to your Desktop. Then from iPhoto, you can File > Import to library the Originals folder that you copied from the DVD. If your mom did lots of photo editing, you could also import the Modified folder. However, there is no way for you to re-link the edits to their originals. You will not be able to access her keywords, titles, ratings, and other iPhoto organizational metadata.

Client loses ability to edit pages in CS3

Hi folks, although the permissions I had for client in CS3 were pretty broad, she is now only able to edit text   on SOME pages whereas she was able to edit text on all before. When I log in using CS5 I do not see any draft pages, but she said she cannot even create a draft for those pages. She can only edit one page now...
Any ideas what might be the problem here?     I am now using CS 5 but had NOT opened up the website for months until she emailed me today about the problem.

Okay, I reloaded the site, made sure it is compatible and transitional, sent a new key. Client is able to log in and edit   one page but not others they have created, I think, even though she has publisher permissions. She says she has no drafts on her system. I used the same key in CS3 and was able to edit all pages. We are stumped... She is one Windows and I'm on a Mac, so my guess there is something messed up in her Win preferences or whatever they're called, like plist on the mac...   or something else.
All pages are checked in and she has Enabled the connection.
can anyone give me a clue as to what to tell her to do to restore her ability to edit pages?

Codec for QT play on Mac AND PC-- + IMovie edit? (DVD rip using MPEG STRCLP

Based on the helpful advice of this forum, I am ripping a bunch of DVD's of home movies into a large number of discrete .mov files that I can (1) import into IMOVIE for editing and (2) view directly and effortlessly using QT on both a Mac AND a PC (I want to send these files to others). Maintaining image quality is very important given the less than perfect MPEG 2 source material.
I am following the suggested process using MPEG STREAMCLIP, including trimming and light cutting of unwanted sections before creation of each file.
*My question is what is the best export process and settings for my situation?*. Given the less than ideal quality of the MPEG-2 source, I would like to avoid further degradation if possible. Choices:
1. EXPORT to .mov using *AIC codec* -- clearly the best choice for IMOVIE editing and QT playback on a MAC -- but unable to playback using QT on a PC without buying/loading the AIC software. This is a problem since I want the ability to give the .mov files to others and allow them play on a PC without instructions or the hassle of a software download.
2. EXPORT to .mov with *another Codec -- but which CODEC?* --which codec allows effortless playback with QT/ MAC and PC while retaining original MPEG-2 quality -- and allows for later editing in IMOVIE?
3. *SAVE AS .mov* -- my understanding is that this copies the original MPEG-2 (after trimming and cuts) and eliminates transcoding. Is this accurate? If so, will it play effortlessly on a MAC and PC? Am I sacrificing anything when importing into IMOVIE (other than the need to transcode from MPEG-2 into AIC)

Martin, I Exported my rip using MPEGstreamclip DV/DVCPRO-NTSC full quality, then exported QT Movie out of FC after editing a bit. Put it back to DVD using DVDSP and used Compressor due to tutorials I watched from Larry Jordon, saying I would get a better quality compression using compressor. I know you are probably scratching your head at this point saying, wait, FCE doesn't come with Compressor or DVDSP. At this time I'll have to admit, I have FCstudio but started out with Express and like the FCE forum better then the FC forum.
The setting in compressor I used are:

Importing from DVD created with iMovie or iDVD

Hi All,
My friend and some crew guys recorded themselves doing sound check, playing some songs, and being silly. It looks like whoever gave him the DVD of him singing created the DVD with iDVD and it has an audio_ts folder and video_ts folder.
He wants to put it on his myspace. So how do I import this DVD using premiere? Or how do I get the video and audio off the DVD so that I can put it on his myspace?

Copying DVD created w/DVD recordable player

I am trying to edit a DVD that was created in a DVD recordable player. It plays fine on my eMac's DVD player, but when I try to open it in Quicktime Pro, or MPEG Streamline clip I get nothing.
I want to be able to move it over to iMovie HD and edit it to iDVD. I have OS X 10.3.9. Is anything made in a DVD recordable player automatically copywrite protected?

MTR is just a "copy protection eraser"... not needed in this issue....
my workflow with Streamclip is..:
* drag'n drop the content of the dvd into some folder of my harddrive
* open THAT local copy...
* then Apple-F (correct timecode errors)...
* usually, I just need parts of a recording, so setting in-/outpoints...
* export as dv-stream, (alt-Apple-E) ...
... works like charm here...

You can still purchase iDVD in a 2011 iLife package from Amazon.
There's really nothing else that integrates with iMovie as well as iDVD. Apple is no longer shipping or supporting iDVD but it's well worth the investment.

No, it isn't. Pages 5 isn't compatible with Pages 4.3 as it is lacking more than 90 features that Pages 4 has. So when you open a Pages 4 document in Pages 5 only the simplest documents will look the same in Pages 5.
Pages 4 can't open Pages 5 documents at all!! You have to export back to Pages 09 as I said above.
You probably will be more happy if you just use Pages 4 (Pages 09). There are many threads in this forum that describes the lack of compatibility between the two versions. Pages 5 is in my view not Pages anymore.
If you don't desperately need Pages 5 for moving documents over iCloud to new iOs devices don't use it.

I am unable to edit a form created with LiveCycle version 8.5 with LiveCycle Version ES1.

I am trying to edit a form created with LiveCycle version 8.08.2073 (installed with Adobe Pro 8). I am using LiveCycle version ES (installed with Adobe Pro 9). I can open the fhe form, but the tools are greyed out. It apears the file is locked for editing, but I cannot determine where/how to unlock it.

You should try to start in safe mode which runs a file check. You hold the shift key down during a start up till there is a progress bar towards thr bottom of the screen. This start will take a longer time than normal. In safe mode try the functioins you are having problems with to see if there is an improvement. Some links below to read.

If the form was created using LCD then it can only be edited there. This
application used to be bundled with Acrobat Pro, but that's no longer the
case. So if you want to edit this file then you need to purchase it, yes.

You would have to rip the entire video from the wedding video DVD and edit it in iMovie or Quicktime Player 7 with Quicktime Pro.
Handbrake will rip the non protected video DVD.

Merging pdfs with ability to edit a form

When I merge two pdfs in Acrobat 8 then reopen them in Reader (which is the only software my client has to view/edit pdfs) I can no longer save the data typed into the forms--I can print the document as is with the information, but the pdf form needs to be filled out by a couple people. Does anyone know of a way I can merge two pdfs and still retain the ability to edit the form?

Can't save edits. I was hoping I wouldn't have to go back in to enable reader rights (it's a client who would actually have to do it), but that's okay. Thanks for your help.
