Ability to exclude jpeg sidecars from import

I just bought a camera that doesn't have the option of shooting raw without jpegs so my import process just got a lot more complicated.
I would like the ability to disable the import of jpeg sidecars. This would alleviate my fear of accidentally deleting unique jpegs that have no raw equivalent.

Thanks for the suggestion. I can also pre-delete the jpgs in explorer and since i can sort there it's even easier.
The tricky thing is that I don't want to eliminate all jpegs. Some modes on the camera only support jpegs and sometimes I shoot only jpegs. So this requires actively isolating duplicates of raw files and deleting them.
It's not an awful amount of work, but it is error prone ( I worry about accidentally deleting unique jpegs ) and it takes an order of magnitude more time than my 5D work flow, which is: 1. Insert card. 2. Click ok.
Since Lightroom already identifies jpeg sidecars during the import process, having a checkbox that disables the actual import seems like a reasonable request.

  • Exclude a drive from Import

I have a MicroSD card in my computer (Surface Pro) as extra storage. When I do an import, LR (5.3, under Win 8.1) starts by scanning that drive and creating thumbnails for the image files there. The card that I actually want to import from is another SD card.
Is there any way to tell LR to ignore a certain drive from import? It's a small annoyance but it would make life easier.

Thanks for your replies. We wrote some custom code to allow an end user to unlock his SAP accounts (as well as Active Directory and AS400). However, we want to exclude SAP from password management (and from account creation management) at this time because SAP has different requirements for passwords (8 character limit for the version we use) compared to Active Directory, and the bosses don't want to change the password policy for Active Directory to conform to SAP. For the present we will use CUA to manage SAP passwords, roles and activities.

  • How to exclude mts files from importing

    Hi,
I use my photo camera for photo's and video, but as PSE is crashing/freezes when it encounters a mts file I would like to exclude these from importing but the default "media type" settings does not allow this.
How can I force PSE to exclude these files, so I can import all photos into the organizer
    André
    PSE 12 W8.1 i7 HD4000+GT650M

Is this a laptop that 'automatically' chooses between an onboard graphics chip (the HD4000) and an advanced graphics processor (GT650M). If it is then  it is possible that the switching is causing the issue. There should be a utility that allows you to define a particular card for for a particular application to use - this should then start the application using that card and avoid any 'auto-sensing' activity.
Note though that Elements (Photoshop, Premiere, Organizer) make no use of advanced video card capabilities so if the HD4000 provides you an acceptable resolution and colour depth there is no advantage to using the GT650M.

  • How do you separate jpeg sidecar file from cr2?

I now see that the preference to treat jpegs as separate files is an import preference.  So now I have some jpeg_+cr2 files that show up in grid view.  Other than going into explorer and deleting it, is there a way to separate and remove the jpeg in LR?

If you shoot jpeg+raw there are two methods for handling files determined by the settings in:
Edit >> preferences >> general (tab)
The box “Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate photos” is checked
LR will import both copies and show both copies in the Library Grid.
You can optionally stack to avoid clutter so that one thumbnail is displayed for each pair.
Photo >> Stacking >> Auto-Stack by Capture Time
Set the time between stacks to zero so that only those with the same capture time are stacked.
The box “Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate photos” is left un-checked
Lightroom will add both raw and jpeg to the folder on your hard drive but will only display the raw image in the Library, treating the jpeg as a sidecar.
This is my preferred method because if you use LR to move a raw file the jpeg automatically travels with it. And I have a jpeg in the folder for instant upload to social media, even before I start rating and editing the raw images.
Obviously it’s a personal choice whichever method suits you. But to answer your original question; if you use method one you can use the library filter (press the backslash key and choose text) and e.g. type jpg so that the filter reads:
Any Searchable Files >> Contains All >> jpg
    Then try using jpeg
For the second method, you would simply delete jpeg files from the folder but that would break the sidecar link.

  • I need to select to import only low-res jpeg images from my Canon 5D Mk11 camera to an iPad 2 and not RAW images

I need to select somehow to import only jpeg images from my Canon 5D Mk11 camera to an iPad 2
I take photographs in both RAW (high quality up to 30Mb file size) and JPEG low quality for use on iPad and Internet. The Raw files I save to a 1Tb Multimedia Storage Viewer and later down load-them to my computer where I process them for high quality prints.
Using the Camera Kit I can’t find an option to only download jpeg images, and fill the iPad memory with unwanted RAW images. Can you please tell me how to get over this problem?

Have you checked your "Import" settings for "Raw&Jpeg" pairs in the "Import" panel?
You can set Aperture to import raw, jpeg, or raw&jpeg.
If you imported Raw&Jpeg, but have set Aperture to use the Jpeg as original, you will see the imported image as Jpeg image, not as a raw image, even if the raw has also been imported. You can switch between Raw and Jpeg originals for selected images from the Photos menu:
Photos > Use Raw as original.

  • Importing jpeg images from camera to IPhoto

I get the following error message when uploading jpeg images from my camera to IPhoto in my macbook air- "iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image".- any ideas?
If I try to import just one image at the time I get the following error-
"The following file cannot be imported. The file is in an unrecognisable format"

What version of iPhoto? Of the OS? What camera? Does your camera mount to the desktop? Have you tried image capture? Have you tried a USB card reader? When did you last reformat your camera memory card using the camera's format command?

  • Why does aperture convert my raw files to jpegs when I import them from iPhoto?

Why does aperture convert my raw files to jpegs when I import them from iPhoto?

    It doesn't.
When you import  Raw to iPhoto the app makes a jpeg preview of the Raw automatically. When you import from iPhoto then Aperture brings over both versions.

  • Cleanup User Profiles excluded from import

    Hey guys!
since weeks I got messed up with user profiles in MOSS2010.
Initially we have setup AD synchroization from whole AD. Some tests were done and numerous OUs were excluded from the sync connection.
Hence thousands of profiles should be deleted from SharePoint, but still kept in AD.
SharePoint has moved them to "Profiles Missing from Import" which was a first milestone. However, we use the profiles in organization webparts and the "should be-" deleted profiles still appear in those webparts.
We were waiting more than 14 days for automatical deletion which doesn´t took any affect.
    MySite cleanup Job and
User Profile Change Cleanup Job have been executed by schedule and manualla - accounts still exist
Full sync has been executed - accounts still exist.
I have executed the well known PowerShell script to delete NonImportetObjects
    Set-SPProfileServiceApplication $upa -GetNonImportedObjects $true
But I get only five profiles as result. On SharePoint CA I have thousands of profiles on "Profiles Missing from Import". So I guess the execution of
    Set-SPProfileServiceApplication $upa -PurgeNonImportedObjects $true
wont help me out in this case.
Due to the large amount of profiles, a manual deletion is not a suitable solution.
Do you have any idea how to fix this?

Just one quick check, did you start user Profile service after OUs exclusion in Sync connection ? if not then please restart the service and perform Full Sync.
Run below script on SQL server to check all users marked for deletion, these users will be picked up by "MY Site clean up job" for deletion:
    1. Script to get list of all user which are inactive and marked in "Profile missing", update profile DB Name :
SELECT *  FROM [User Profile Service Application_ProfileDB_02f7d99cc26542978de8627838c980b8].[dbo].[UserProfile_Full] with (nolock)  where bDeleted = 1GO
    2. Script to check if sites marked as deletion, update profile DB name;
SELECT *  FROM [User Profile Service Application_ProfileDB_02f7d99cc26542978de8627838c980b8].[dbo].[MySiteDeletionStatus]GO

  • Can Aperture make JPEG dupes of imported RAW automatically based on camera?

I have a specific DSLR which I shoot with. I guess most photographers might also have 2 or more DSLRs they shoot with as well. Usually one older than the other as a second body or back up.
When I import RAW images to Aperture 2.x, I would like Aperture (either automatically or triggered by me) to process the importing/imported images to a default JPEG duplicate copy of the RAW. In other words, rather than shooting JPEG+RAW, I would rather just shoot all RAW and when those RAWs enter Aperture, I would like it to make JPEG duplicates. I realize I may loose JPEG quality but this is not essential as if an image selected for use, I will custom process that image and convert to JPEG.
Obviously, I would like those dupes to not be strait dupes of the RAW but, on a basic level, when the conversion happens, also adjust them based on a basic set of color corrections, etc. like the camera might do when making a JPEG in camera. So the conversion is more specific to the RAW coming from the specific camera model.
Can Aperture do this? and how do I set this up? It seems like this ability should be built in or a plug in. It would be camera specific though. A setting for a Nikon D300 would do this "make JPEG dupes of RAW imports" different from a setting for a Sony A700 "make JPEG dupes of RAW imports".
I envision a plug in or free list of default import settings you can save for specific cameras. Something akin to color palettes for design programs based on specific printers. For Epson XYZ printer I can download the Pantone color palettes for that printer and install them in InDesign, etc. Plug in conversion settings for specific DSLR bodies.

I'm not aware of any way to have Aperture generate hi-quality jpegs automatically from the raw file. Maybe there is someway to script it, but I'm not that much of an expert to advise you on that. It will generate a jpeg as the other poster indicated, but it's not a hi-quality file. The jpegs rendered from the embedded raw file are only about 500k, so obviously they are not of the highest quality.
Regarding the metadata, everything is there; camera model, res, aperture, shutter, and a myriad of other things. What's not there is the Nikon specialized stuff like custom picture controls, custom white balance, d-lighting and some others. If you use these features and like the raw converter in NX, you will find it necessary to use either the hi-quality jpegs from the camera (assuming you create them when you shoot) or have NX or View render and save jpegs or Tiffs from the Nikon NEF's. I've decided to shoot Raw+JPEG, import to Aperture using referenced libraries, make a new master from the JPEG and this separates the JPEG from the NEF in Aperture allowing you to see and use either. If the JPEGS are satisfactory, use them. If not, you have options; tweak the NEF in Aperture, show the NEF in finder, and drop into NX and tweak the raw with Nikon's proprietary camera controls and raw features then save out as Tiff or JPEG and drop back into Aperture. If you like Aperture's raw renderer enough to forego Nikon's picture controls, custom white balance, d-lighting etc..., you can skip the whole Nikon thing and just import the raw files. Come up with some custom settings and stamp the lot. Batch export the project to jpeg and drop them back into Aperture when finished. I think it's best to just let the camera create the RAW-JPEG. If you get good files or just need minor tweak, fix-lift and stamp and you're done. If not you have lots of options. JMO

  • Excluding storage location from MRP run in Long Term Planning

    Hi,friends,
In my scenario , i want to exclude storage location from MRP run in long term planning. When i set storage location MRP indicator "2" in SPRO and SLoc MRP indicator "1" MRP4 in material master, i can exclude the storage location after run MRP with MD01/MD02,and i can see the expected result in MD04.But in Long Term Planning scenario the storage location can not be excluded after run MRP with MS01/MS02,and the requirements list in MS04 include the stock in the storage location i want to exclude. i dont know if i miss something.Plz give me some advice.
    Regards
    Joey

    Hi,
Refer the OSS Note 208017 - LTP: Long-term planning and storage locations
    ==========================================================================
    Symptom
In long-term planning (Transactions MSBT / MS01 / MS02 / MS03), the MRP indicator of a storage location for a material is not taken into account (material master, view MRP 2 [up to and including Release 3.1I] or MRP 4 [as of Release 4.0A]).
The storage locations excluded by MRP or planned separately are also planned in the plant segment.
    Additional key words
LTP, MM01, MM02, MM03, master data, MRP indicator, LGORT ...
    Cause and prerequisites
The MRP indicator for a certain storage location of a material is only taken into account in operative planning (requirements planning, MRP).
The long-term planning occurs exclusively at plant level.
    Solution
This is no error. The system works as intended.
The individual storage locations should not be distinguished in the long-term planning, in order to perform a comprehensive long-term planning.
This is important, for example, within the kanban processing where the storage locations with kanban MRP are excluded from the MRP, but in spite of that should be included in the long-term planning.

  • I took a video by accident. How do I get just a jpeg photo from it in iphoto'11?

I took a video with my iphone when intending to take just a photo. How do I get a jpeg photo from it in iphoto'11?

When you double click the movie in iPhoto, you can select to open it in QuickTime Player. PLay the movie and advance it to the frame you want. Then either simply take a screenshot (best in full screen view) or select to export your movie fro the web (from the File menu in Quicktime Player). This will create a jpeg as poster frame. Import this to iPhoto.
iPhoto has no built-in option to extract a jpeg from the movie.

[http://pscode.org/test/codebase/applet.html] - two different (in the codebase) calls to the same applet.

My wording may have been confusing. But I thought "which contains this applet" and "from where the applet originated" referred to the same thing. This is not the first time I have discovered JavaDocs that are misleading.
I generally don't work with the applet tag when I do develop applets as the tag has been deprecated for a number of years.Same difference with <object> (or <embed>). The codebase is the codebase, not the directory of any Jar (necessarily).
Think about it this way. An applet loads one Jar from my site, one Jar from yours, and another from any other site. What is the codebase then? (Answer: the codebase defined in the applet element.)
*OTOH it is quite typical to have the codebase point to the single directory that contains all the applet Jars - so often that advice is true. But the devil is in the details.*

  • How to suppress compiler errors without excluding database objects from the "Schema Compare" tool (using VS2013/SSDT)

    Hi,
In short: How to suppress compiler errors without excluding the object from the "Schema Compare" tool ??
    A bit longer:
We have a SQL Server 2008 project in Visual Studio 2013 running SQL Server Data Tool.
An old database, with a lot of history in, has been imported into SSDT and there are many syntax errors preventing the project from compiling/running. An typical error is: "SQL70001: This statement is not recognized in this context".
Running the "faulty" scripts on the server, executes just fine. I understand that there are syntax errors and they should be rewritten, but it's not gonna happen just like that - it is a slow process over a long period of time.
I know it is possible to change Build Action to None, but that also exclude the object from appearing in the Schema Compare function/window.
So - how to ignore some compiler errors and still having the objects to appear when doing "Schema Compare" ??
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Steven,
    Thanks for your comments.
Well, it sure does help in the future, but right now i would prefer the other way - to suppress some errors and still allow the scripts to build.
The thing is that if we "rewrite" the objects into create scripts, then we have a huge test job ahead of us + the database environments (PROD vs DEV and UAT) does not share the same AD or DB users and therefore grants is lost if dropping/creating
    objects, right!
If you drop a object before creating it, the drop will also drop the roles and grants and since they don't share user table, the create will not be able to add the permissions again. There might be a solution to that, but it is going to be very complicated
for some newbies like us. We need something we can trust.
