Ability to play back a session.

Is there an ability to play back a session once a session is completed. How long does it remain on the server ?

We don't support recording and playback at this time. It's certainly something we've put a lot of thought into, however. Our current priorities are around e-commerce work, but once that's done, we'll definitely be looking at this functionality.

Lost the ability to play back...

Something happened where I'm no longer able to play an ything back in Sountrack Pro multitrack projects. I hit the space bar, press the right arrow in the transport controls, and I get nothing. The timecode doesn't seem to be advancing either. The only thing that will play is the video file.
This all started when I was trying to replace a clip with audio from the same file. The problem with that was that the volume that I was hearing didn't reflect the changes in the volume automation envelope. That's a separate issue and if you have the answer to that, by all means let me know.
Anyway, when I replaced that old clip, I lost the ability to play back. Dumping my preferences didn't help and neither did restarting the computer.

The error was caused by a problem with one of my firewire 800 drives. I tracked it down by trashing STP's preferences and restarting without any peripherals (drives, etc.) plugged in, opening STP (which played correctly), then one by one plugging in the drives until STP started having that issue again.
In Disk Utility I did "verify Disk" and then "Repair Disk" after it found some errors on the suspect disk. That seems to have cleared things up.

Audition 1.5 has problem playing back MT session if I have a ton of stretched clips

I might be doing something AA is not designed to do, I don't know. Perhaps (I wish) there are a lot easier ways of doing this, but I have a band that recorded, with a song that has 8 vocal tracks, singing as a group. However, they don't all start every word/phrase exactly at the same time, but should - therefore I use the clip stretching abilities in MT to cut the track up each place it's off and stretch it to fit. Normally I don't need to stretch it much at all, but after that tedious job is done the overall project sounds a lot better.
However, now I have this session that has maybe 150 stretched clips (pretty crazy, huh?) and it takes about 30 minutes or more to open. Problem is, now it won't play back decently for some reason; certain tracks sound like a bunch of garble and warble - nothing that can be made out. I do not know if all the stretched clips have anything to do with it. The wave files appear the same as before - example, you can see where a louder portion of audio is but it is nothing synced with what I hear on the speakers.
I should also mention that I had an under-rated computer run AA one time and the same thing happened there so I thought it just got tired and so I restarted AA and it worked fine after that. Here I also restarted AA but the problem is not better - worse if anything.
Some tracks play fine, others don't. Another thing of interest is that I have only stretched the vocal tracks; by far the worse garble is on the instrument tracks; they even play back as quirks and garble in Edit View if I go there.
Anyone have any solution why this happens? Am I over doing AA in some way?
Also, is there a more automated way of matching and syncing vocals? I'm talking about them being .1 - .01 seconds off the beat; is there some way AA will automatically stretch clips to match beats with - say - the beat markers?

I would do that, soon as I'm done with stretching/timing adjustment; thing was I was still 10 seconds from the end when it started acting up. But Just as a safe precaution in case it would do something like that I had already backed up a couple of times so thankfully I don't need to do it all over again!
So, you don't think that "set beat markers" (or something like that) can be locked to beats in MT? For example if I run the "Find and Mark" beats in EV and then use those beats to snap to the closest beat in MT, stretching the file as need be in order to get it there.. ? Maybe I'm dreaming out of this world.. Next time I'll have to force my clients to sing until they sing it dead on right!

I have copied my iTunes library onto a new computer, but when I play back the songs there seems to be random "miss" or "drop out". No probs with old computer, just the new one. I'm onto my third new computer - same problem. Any suggestions please?

You don't say which version of iTunes you are using, but the symptoms you describe have been encountered by some users with the 64-bit version of iTunes 12.1.
There is an alternative version for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the most of the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version of 12.1.0.77 - including problems with Bluetooth speakers where either sound is degraded or completely absent. The alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer. The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio (one part of the reported symptoms is that the "Direct Sound" choice isn't available, usually in Windows 8). It may also be necessary to ensure that your Bluetooth speakers are active and selected as the default audio device before you run iTunes.
If this doesn't address the issue, you may want to think about reverting to iTunes 12.0 - see Turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for steps needed to completely remove all installed iTunes components, and for links to the 12.0 installers.

Audio tracks play back wrong audio

at some point in my mix sessions , in different sessions , one of my audio tracks starts playing back audio from both its channel and another channel simultaineously. there not always adjacent tracks , not assigned to the same voice and have seemingly nothing in common. if i change voices i can sometimes allieviate the problem or it will start playing a different track audio simultaineously. i have two records pending and need some immediate help please...

Just to warn you (or throw some experience in). Logic 7 has for me, operated poorly with sessions created from older versions of Logic. It is often fine if you just want to duck in and grab something but the sessions do go weird if you just keep using them they go batty and can often get kind of self destructive.
Updating/merging/replacing the environment is one of the first steps to take, just creating new updated objects helps, even using presets and channel strips from older versions seem to give problems. Copying objects and configurations over can give you different results, but basically the more you replace and create as new the less problems you'll have.
So you know you have alot of reworking to do if you really want to do alot of work with these in the current version. Determine where a good transition point would be and try to follow with that. Often mixing or sooner than later but plan on taking some time reworking things. It's almost easiest to just grab everything and paste it over into a 7 built autoload-without the plugins. Audio Objects and plugin instances seem to give alot of problems. I usually end up redoing a bunch of stuff if I have a ways to go and export away. Things really get fixed along the way but it is a pain and better to do it sooner. Unless you're coming up on a mixing stage or something soon I'd just do it (and keep a backup of the older versions just in case I want to retrieve something.
I am working on an album that was created on a 6 autoload and 12 of 13 tracks had to be reformatted in 7 from forward INcompatabilities-some of them twice because they did not get a 100% clean autoload (as in the instruments and/or audio objects were opied over). Maybe I'm just weird, don't take only my word on this because it is alot of work for many projects to just redo things like this but you should be aware of what some people have encountered and be prepared to take some of those steps if there are more people saying their experience has been like this.

Logic Pro 8 mutes newly recorded tracks and won't play back until reload...

Seems like this has happened within the last couple of months. When I record audio in Logic and try to play it back, it won't play the audio. The arrange window shows it is there and the regions do NOT show that they are muted (nor does the channel strip). In essence, it acts as if it is muted, but there are no signs that it is. (I even select the regions and mute then unmute them, and mute and unmute the channel strip, but nothing changes. Still no audio.)
So I have to close the project and reopen it. When I reopen it, every region in the previous recording session (audio) is greyed out (muted) in the arrange window. Once I select them and unmute them, they play back perfectly.
This is a very weird situation. Anybody have any ideas about what the issue is?

A lot of people have reported this, and it happens to me pretty frequently. Gotta be a known bug, but of course since Apple is always mum about this stuff with absolutely no communication to its customers, we won't know until the next version of Logic is released.

Playing back script in OpenScript with application which opens in ext windo

Hi,
I have to test an application which after log in a user opens an external window and works in this external window.
There is now way to omitt loging.
I recorded a script in open script and I tried to play it back, but there was fail before trying to open external window with application to test.
I got the error:
HTTP response code: 404 Not Found
How can I solve this problem?
Is there any possibility to put things from console to file?

Symptoms:
Got HTTP response code: 404 Not Found when playing back a script.
Cause:
The HTTP response code "404" means that the page was not found on the web server. Either the url is incorrect or goes to a resource that was moved, renamed, or doesn't exist on the server. In scripts this mostly happens when the url is dynamic, meaning, the url changes every time that the page is requested. It also could happen if a cookie or any another http header is missing or added, yet depending how the website was designed, this could give a different HTTP response code.
Resolution:
You may want to compare:
the URL that is posted in the log when you playback the script
vs.
the URL of "the page that gives the HTTP code 404" when you do the steps of the script manually using Internet Explorer.
If for some reason you don't see the URL of the external window when doing the process manually, right click anywhere inside the external window and select "Properties". If you can't right click on the window let me know and I will give you some tips. (This is because Internet Explorer 6 may not always show the URL, Internet Explorer 7 will always show it.)
When comparing the URLs look for parts that may be dynamic. The parts that are dynamic are usually few letters and numbers that don't seam to mean an word or a phrase, for example: 7h8G5d.
You can also determine if the URL is dynamic by doing the following:
1) Open Internet Explorer and do the steps of the script manually up to the point where the HTTP code 404 is seen on the script
2) Take note of the URL
3) Open a new Internet Explorer window using the Quicklunch, Start Menu, or Desktop shortcut (not by using new Window or new tab because this would preserve session values)
4) In the new window repeat the steps of the script manually as in step 1
5) Take a note of the URL and compare it with the URL of step 2
Differences between the URLs are the dynamic parts of the URL.
It is also possible but less likely that the URL is different every time that the web application is re-built.
Once you know what are the parts that are dynamic you will need to use variables or transformations in OpenScript to make the URL to vary accordingly. Please let me know if you need these steps.

btw: There is no way to "put things from console to file". I made the feature request for you. Probably you will see it in a future release.

I can guarantee that you will be heard by posting in this forum, what I cannot guarantee is that each of them will be implemented.

Midi recordings not playing back??? BIG problem!

Hi Everyone....
I hope its not a bug, so im praying someone here can figure this one out....
lets say i am playing a midi recording and record it on an audio instrument channel..
when i play on my midi keyboard everything works fine and logic simply works as it should.
now, after i have recorded a midi composition, however short or long, and i push play to hear it and edit it, logic wont play it back, and no sound comes out of the particular track?
Then, when i drag the midi recording to another audio instrument track, it plays back fine!
Also, when i try to put the recording on this track on solo, it wont work, and the midi region doesnt have the yellow line around, like it usually has.
I am guessing it has to do with the instrument, which in this case is the korg legacy, but what i dont understand is that if it would be the instrument, why does it work perfectly when i play it on my midi keyboard? and not after i record something and want to play it back????
I hope someone has some more info on me, cuz its really slowing me down atm, and it has happend a couple of times already, also on other instruments...
btw, making a duplicate track also does not work, it wont play back on that either! but only the original recording recorded to that track. and lastly, i also copied all the notes out of the midi recording, then erased it and paste it as a new midi recording, and thats also no good...

I'm happy to be corrected on this one but it seems that this problem (which I'm currently trying to deal with) occurs when opening 7.x sessions in v8. At the moment the only way to get the track to play again is to close the session and re-open it. The channel will be muted when you re-open it so you need to hit 'm' on the regions(s).
It isn't synth specific either (I don't think) as I'm using a few different ones and getting the same result.
Pretty average eh. Hope they fix it soon.

S everyone else still getting play back errors with LP8?

Hope this is resolved, i use a M-Powered copy of Pro Tools to track against a 2 mix of the Logic Session, and i barely get the tracks i did in LP6 to play with out a error, i can not run any midi, i got more tracks in previous version to play back then i do now in Leo with LP8.
to narrow it down, i only use one verb bus, delay and echo bus, compressor on every channel used including Bus, Ozone on the master channel, i run only 20 stereo tracks, 4 which are with the ESX24., in Logic 6 i was running all this with a few Logic plugs on the master channel and not a hick up, and i was using a older 1.2 Ghz macbook pro, now i have a Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz 17 inch MBP and i can not play beyond 8 tracks with compressors and a verb channel.
Anyone find another work around, i was using the the one with the terminal command but i see no effect on it's performance anymore.

this is your main question...
Are you using M-powerd copy of Protools?
if you don't use any Protools version maybe the issue is related with Apogee.
in any case I had a similar problem on iMac...
and... maybe i'm lucky, but the fresh reinstall without use DIGI or M-Powered (AVID) drivers and any Protools version ... PTLE is very similar as PTLE M-Powerd...
I'm refering to that when I talk about PTLE.
But if you continue to have the issue after a fresh instal without installin PT M-Powered oe any PT version... maybe you can try to use the internal built in audio card of your Mac book Pro...
I hope that you will find the best way to solve your issue.
Protools HD is not the same at all...
Logic works fine on HD system.

Audio Instr records but does not play back in Logic Pro 9

Hi all.... recently upgraded from a PPC G5 to an iMac 27"" 2.8 GHz Intel i7 w/4GB mem. was running Logic 7.2,now Pro 9. Here's my prob. After opening an old session in LP9 and recording an audio instrmnt (no prob setting up trk or recording) the trk won't play back. However,I was able to drag the recorded region to another trk (set up w/same audio instrmnt) and it plays.Is there some possibility that when opening a Logic 7.2 session that LP9 sees an audio instrmnr trk as an "audio"trk instead? Since I'm relatively new please excuse any newbie faults. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds with fades not playing back consistently

Have other people encountered this, and maybe found a fix or workaround? The new fade tool seems to be extremely buggy. Sound chunks with fades on them only seem to play back fades some of the time. Very often the part with the fade doesn't play back at all, with the sound starting abruptly at the end of the fade. This happens even on the simplest sessions, and seems to happen often on bounce/export, even if the sound usually plays back fine in the session.
This is a huge problem, it makes the new fade tool pretty much completely unusable.

Checking other threads on sound was very helpful in getting the sound set-up. I've been unable to find a thread about sounds not playing after upload except certain formats not playing in some browser. That shouldn't be my issue since I have the sounds in multiple formats, but I'm obviously overlooking something so...

InCar HeadUnits - work with Iphones (ability to play app's from app store)

I am trying to find a head unit which allows you to play iphone applications through your car stereo (Internet radio applications)
I have been trying to find more information on ipod compatible in car stereo's however most just state Direct iPod compatibility.
Can any one help me with past experience of car stereos which allow you to play music apps from your iphone through your car speakers?
I have been looking at the Pioneer DEH-6100BT.
Please post any other brands, models which will do the above.

There are lots of replacement single din stereo head units out there. Anyone of them with a stereo in AUX jack (plug in front of unit or behind) will play back Internet Radio Apps from the iPhone. Make sure you buy or use a nice stereo 3.5 mm (1/8 inch) mini jack to mini jack cable. Also, see my clarification below regarding how my Pioneer (double din) head unit plays back Internet Radio apps on my iPhone 3G. It's not a pretty solution. What works best if you don't want the AUX method is to take advantage of the iPhone 3G (with latest OS) ability to stream stereo bluetooth audio to a capable bluetooth head unit. You'll have to decide if you want to do the bluetooth and, if so, do you want to buy a head unit with built-in bluetooth or buy one that is bluetooth-ready (and purchase a separate bluetooth add on).
Let me clarify: You cannot control the Internet Radio Apps Pandora and Aol Radio from the Pioneer FHP8000BT head unit. The apps may play audio through the USB but to get back to iPod control from your head unit you'll need to disconnect the iPod/Phone from the USB cable interface and re-connect it.

HDV4 in a .mov file won't play back using any software

Issue:
I had 4 DVDs sent to me containing a bunch of .mov files that won't play back in any of the following apps:
QuickTime 7 Pro (includes Mpeg2 codec from Apple's Web site) - sends me to Apple.com's QT plugins page
Mpeg Streamclip - loads only some on batch import, but mostly displays white and plays the audio
HandBrake - Says not a valid source
VLC Player - error says that HDV4 files cannot be played
QuickTime Player - says format isn't a format that QT recognizes
I need to get this into a format usable by FCE. I'm running the most up-to-date 10.6 Snow Leopard, and the last version of FCE. How can I do this without losing my current version of iTunes or Final Cut Express?

As a result, we get DVDs, flash drives, 64 GB memory sticks, and more. It seems like each one uses a different file format, and every format is proprietary. Where is a standards committee when you need one? Where is the open-source format?

Why have I lost the ability to play video in iTunes?

I recently upgraded to itunes 11.0 but now I seem to have lost the ability top play video podcasts, movies or even see trailers in the itunes store movie section. I did install an application called eyetvreporter to try to recover the activation code for eyetv shortly after installing itunes 11. I am not sure this had any effect because Ii can still see the eyetv on the computer. I have reinstalled os X from the recovery partition and reinstalled itunes 11.0. I have no idea how to reset iTunes to allow me to watch videos.

Strange! I changed the screen resolution, deleted the eyetvreporter, rebooted and the video came back. The problem is solved but not understood.

Beach Ball when play back...why?

Hi, has any one had this problem?
When I press space bar or the play button in both the Viewer and the Canvas I get a spinning beach ball, it spins for about 1 or 2 minutes, then play back starts normally...This is something new to me, I never had this problem before. I re-installed Final Cut, I am on 7.0.1, I have a 2X2,8Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon MacPro, with 7GB 667 Mhz DDR2 FB-DIMM, and my hard drive is a 16TB RAID from Maxx Digital. It does not mater if I am editing RED footage, or plain simple DV, or just sound (AIF), it does the same thing, which is really annoying... Any one have an idea?
What could be happening? This started suddenly, I have done nothing different to my computer, and I don't think I have installed any software lately that would affect this...Could it be Time Machine??? As I have noticed that when this happens, Time Machine is busy backing up.
