Ability to queue songs

Are there any plans to implement the ability to queue songs when you're listening to your ipod? I hate having to wait for a song to end before choosing the next song that I want to listen to, and playlists and On-The-Go are too restrictive.

Are there any plans to implement
Apple does not state what their future plans are.

Has the ability to conjoin songs been taken away? On iTunes, I used to be able to have songs I wanted played together, always do just that. Seems like that feature has disappeared. Too bad, that was pretty handy!

OK i've figured out a workaround -- paste from Illutrator into Keynote 09, then copy that from Keynote 09 into Keynote 6.2.
I'm never going to offer to teach people how to use Keynote again though, what an embarassing hack!

  • Can no longer queue songs in iTunes

    Hi,
I also have recently had the problem with the audio stuttering in iTunes. I've restored my PC a couple of times and reinstalled the latest version of both iTunes and QuickTime and currently it seems to have fixed the problem.
I now notice that I can no longer queue songs in iTunes. Previously I used the Party Shuffle option alot, but this has only one song listed (instead of the past 5 and next queued 15). If I play a song in the library and click on the >> button, the song just ends, without moving to the next song (doesn't matter whether shuffle is on or not). Any ideas on how to fix this this?

I seem to recall deleting the prefs file fixing Party Shuffle issues:
Scott P.: My Source List is missing (or, resetting the prefs)

  • Queue songs within a playlist???

I have a playlist of my favorite songs, and sometimes as I'm scanning through them I think to myself, "I want to hear that one next!" Who doesn't? So, I couldn't find any way to queue up the song to play as soon as the current one finishes and afterwards continue randomly selecting songs out of the same playlist. Is there a way to do this? Help?

I only want to play the songs with 5 stars without having to put each one in the shuffle manually.
Well, set up a smart playlist for all those 5* tracks. Then set your Party Shuffle to draw from this playlist. (At the bottom, "source" dropdown)

  • Simply queue songs so they play in order after the current- like on Winamp?

I've looked all over the commands and can't find this, the iTunes DJ maybe but I can't figure it out

iTunes DJ is the answer, although it doesn't exactly work like folks sometimes expect.
You can right-click a song in your library and choose "Play Next in iTunes DJ" or "Add to iTunes DJ."
Once they are queued in iTunes DJ, you can adjust their order if you wish.
If DJ is running, and you don't add any songs, it picks at random from the "Source" playlist displayed at the lower left.

  • How to queue songs in Music App?

    Hello
I Just bought my Ipad Mini with 6.1 iOS.
I want the time a song is playing to select the next without creating a playlist.
Is there any way? I Have read somewhere that you must tap the song for some seconds but it did'nt work for me

As far as I know the only way to select songs to play in a particular order in the Music App is by creating a playlist for those songs. There is no other way that I can see to do it.

  • Ability to Queue Rather than "Open" Hundreds of Files

Problem: I have 500 JPEG files to edit in Photoshop.  I cannot "open" more than 200 files at once for editing.
Solution: Make a "Queue" option to allow me to queue as many files as I desire.  Only one file will be open at a time for editing, and when that one is closed, the next in the queue is opened, ready to edit.
Yes, I know another solution is to buy Lightroom, but I would like to see this work using Photoshop alone or in conjunction with Bridge.

Obviously, I must halt the batch process for each file to allow editing.
No, you shoudnt necessarily have to do that.
You haven't told us what type of editing needs to be done on each file. If for example its color correction (it often is in these kind of operations) then you don't have to stop the process at all - it used to be possible to edit them and press enter to commit… Pressing enter after changing the adjustment values, will then complete the process of saving and closing the file. No Stops necessary.
This is one area where CS3 was better than Photoshop CS4. If you still have a copy of CS3 on your machine, (most smart people will have) then these actions will still work. Actions created in CS3 can be used in CS4 - they will open a dialog and allow editing of the values.
Many things including Cropping, mode changes, and most other editing processes can also be automated in this way, WITHOUT needing a stop in the action. Its retouching (image specific spotting and changes) which can't be automated

  • Has Apple gotten rid of the the ability to shuffle songs in a particular genre?

Why can't I shuffle songs when I choose a certain genre?  Has this feature been eliminated?

WTH Apple is all I can say!  I used this option daily...The only way around this is to go under songs, and using the search option, start to type the genre you want.  It will eventually come up.  But holy moley...might as well call it IOS 7 minus itunes shuffle by genre...Who are the genius's making these calls?

  • No ability to sort songs in the Store?

I cannot believe that such a basic function could be missing - but other posts seems to suggest it is. Has Apple taken leave of its senses?

Don't really want to waste my time buying on iTunes anymore.
Then feel free to try other online music download stores.  The main ones are Amazon MP3 and Google Play, both of which have selections comparable to the iTunes Store.
There are also a large number of specialty music download stores that specialize in particular genres (classical, DJ, etc.) if you are so inclined.
You can buy songs from any online source and add them to your iTunes library.

  • HT2555 Missing the ability to play songs from iPod connected to itunes/ manage music on iPod/ iPhone via iTunes. was available last iTunes version. Please bring back!

In the past I was able to charge my iPhone or iPod while enjoying my music located on either device via the built in speakers on my macbook pro. After i did my upgrade of itunes, I lost that functionality as well as the ability to easily drag and drop music to, or delete from, my iphone/ ipod.
I have so far discovered that if I want to delete from my iphone I can swipe right and delete, nice to have that on the phone, but could I please get it back at my laptop.
I don't keep my music library on my laptop due to limited space, nor do I always have my external connected due to limited usb ports.
    please bring this back.
    Thank you,

  • No track info and no ability to preview songs.

Just starting off with iTunes on my home computer. When importing my Cd's I am not getting song titles and other track information. Neither am I getting any album artwork. When I go into the store I am unable to preview the tracks. All this happens on my work computer. What could be the problem?

The iPhones features have been publicized repeatedly so it isn't as though you didn't know those features were not available.
To meet the June release deadline Apple had to pull engineers and programmers away from working on Leopard - just so you could have your iPhone today. Those engineers/programmers did a helluva job putting all the current apps together. Just imagine would you'd have if Microsoft's employees had done it instead? You're MSPhone would be crashing, the apps wouldn't work and Microsoft would be demanding $99 for tech support of which would come out of Bombay, India.

  • Ability to play songs at slower speed

Not a big deal, but if you're trying to learn a piece, it's nice to slow it down and cycle through a specific section.  There are apps to do this with music you own, but not streamed music from spotify.

I have been using Tempo Magic Pro, Apple app (for my workouts) for some years but unluckily it doesnt work with Spotify. I think that tempo change feature would be quite easy to add to Spotify as an app especially for Offline Spotify Tracs. Spotify, please check Tempo Magic Pro out. Maybe you could work together.

  • Can you put on songs in queue from your PC (windows) to play from another device?

You might have stumbled upon my other topic about queue problems with my PS4, i got a response from Spotify support that didnt help much, so i tried experimenting a little. Instead of just trying to play from the ps4, i tried playing through my phone using connect. The queue-system totally messes up when trying to queue from windows, anyone else have this problem? I have actually tried with 2 laptops now. with the same result, so now i want to know what your experience is :) Can you try this out to help me? I want to know if this is ... just how it works or if its just a problem for me-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I gave the support guy an example on how things work, you dont have to read this to answer the question above, but it might enlighten my issue a bit more? =)----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As you can see by the description of the problem, i know how the connect feature works. And i know how to queue songs. I can queue songs from my mobile (sony xperia z3) when using the connect feature. I can queue songs on the ps4 app and it works without any problems. Ill give you an example.
Example is that i play from my ps4, the pc and the phone are connected with the connect feature
    - I put on a song using my pc --> the spotify app on the ps4 starts playing music- I put a song in queue from my phone- I put a song in queue using my ps4 controller (at this point, the two songs i put on queue shows correctly up in the queue menu on spotify on PC)- I skip to next song - queue works correctly, the next song plays. I skip again and the third song plays, no problems, it works fine!- I now do the same, i put on the same two songs in queue, using my phone and my controller.- I put one song in queue from my pc (suddenly the previous songs i skipped also shows up (duplicates, since the songs i put on the other time are there too)- I press next song --- now the songs in queue are just skipped. They are still in queue, but they will not be played. The song beneath the queue list will be played instead
This is just an example. I can disconnect my phone from connect and only use my PC and the queue problems are still there, so im guessing its some problem with the app or some setting on my PC.

  • Android - add to queue - offline song search

The title should explain this rather well. The only place I can't queue songs right now is when I do a offline search. Would be great if that could be fixed

It is actually a pretty cool feature when used with Apple's Remote app on an iOS device while having a party. Enable "Guest requests" in DJ's settings and your friends with an iOS devices running Remote can join, request as well as vote for songs.

  • Items in queue won't download   - not a simple one

I have 131 items in queue, but they won't even start downloading. When I check for purchases, I get the network times out connection contacting store messge.
However, Itunes diagnostics run clean. up until today, I was able to buy a new song, watch it download, then get the timeout message on my pending items. I get the same messge from my laptop. My home nework, I can rent movies on apple TV just fine.
    ideas?

So here was the deal. Two things resulted in getting this fixed (not all items are fully downloaded yet, but at least things are queuing up and starting to download just fine).
    1. I got hold of the Apple Support number 800-275-2273 via a nice Itunes Chat Agent. I got transferred to another entry drone working on Ipods, but at least got them to transfer me to a real human being that worked on Apple equipment.
I got this gentleman to open a case number for me, I DOCUMENTED THE CASE NUMBER, and he also gave me the corporate support line to call for escalation on the case to get a customer relations person (will not list that number here, go through the correct process first to get it just like I did).
I was also lucky enough to have Itunes loaded on both my laptop and my home PC. I scheduled an appointment at the local Apple store, and had THEM watch as my laptop, connected to the network AT the Apple Store with no firewall or anti-virus enabled, got the same network time-out message at their location. So much for local network problems crap read from a deficient script by an entry line support drone.
I had the apple store guy write out a repair number (they don't do case numbers) describing the situation. You have to own ANY type of apple product to do this (in my case it was an iphone). I then called the corporate line (get it from the dude who opens your case number from the 800 support line), got the corporate operator and asked for escalation on an existing case number.
After 10 minutes on hold, I got an EXCELLENT rep, had them add the repair order notes from the apple store dude to the case number. The Customer Relations person reviewed the data, got hold of an actual Itunes support person that works on Itunes while I was on the phone and got the ball rolling in minutes.
The guy cleared out my queue, but I still didn't get my purchases (message said all Itunes purchases were downloaded at this point, with NOTHING in queue).
I emailed a follow up the next morning to the Customer Relations person (alwasy ask for the name and email of the person you are dealing with, and log the date and time of the call!, and always reference your case number). I itemized the purchase numbers from my Itunes account purchase history that were stuck and never downloaded in the email, and followed up with another call referenceing the same case number.
At this moment, Itunes Tech Support is now adding things back in small batches that are queueing up and downloading just fine and dandy.
Moral of the story - FACT - Do not buy a bunch of seasons or a lot of episodes in quick succession - in my case, it was buying all the episodes for 4 seasons of Lost in about 5 minutes (130 some odd video items in queue). It evidently overwhelmed the Apple SERVER's ability to queue up that much crap on one ID at a time, and/or the local PC Itunes crapped out on trying to queue up that many video downloads all at once, hence the network timeout message (too short a setting on a timer on either the server or PC side or both I presume). It ain't my 16mb internet pipe (with approximately 16mb throughput, thanks), that's for sure.
If you are going to buy multiple seasons of a show, purchase 1 season, wait till the thing fully downloads, then buy the next one. Same goes with movies. I don't suggest purchasing a large number of movies all at once unless you want your queue jammed and it taking a month to break through the crust of entry level chat and email Itunes support drones reading from a script telling you that your local network is hosed when it ain't. These are call center reps reading from a script and are NOT technical, though you can get a good one occasionally.
Also BE POLITE when talking to the folks on the phone and have your crap together (i.e., run the Itunes diagonstics and verify that you can access all the Itunes network components). If that don't work, the problem IS most likely on your end on either the PC or the local network and the drones can help.
My problem was oddball in nature, it was the Itunes ACCOUNT that was hosed. If you've already downloaded crap and lost it, you are SOL, and this process does not apply. My stuff never got downloaded in the first place and the issue was breaking through the entry level crust to get someone to look at my Itunes Account rather than reading a script to tell my my local network and / or PC were hosed.
Finally, when you DO get good support, ask the agent for their manager's contact information and write them a great big thank you. That keeps the good folks employed, more motivated to help, and hopefully gives apple a way to keep the good folks and weed out the morons (e.g., those that start a chat session with you and then stop answering after saying hello, or Itunes email "support" that doesn't return emails).
I got 1 good chat person (out ot 2 attempts), and the email support person sent me a standard script and would not even reply, despite multiple attempts.
I POLITELY reported the good and the bad on my case number, and made darn sure that I'm following up with a thank you letter to the managers of the folks that helped me.
Many, Many Thanks to Lauri T in Customer Relations, Kevin in apple device support, and Patrick B on chat, and Josh in the mysterious and unreachable Tier 2 / Tier 3 Itunes Support group. You guys are nice, professional and way cool.
    Thanks,
    -Dan
