Ability to Receive email@ my personal domain through MobileMe

I asked my current web hosting service about switching over to have Apple host my domain 2pi.ca so that I could use iWeb at its full power on my website. I was told that I'd loose my two email accounts which currently work @2pi.ca. Does that have to be the case right now with MobileMe?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you drop your current hosting service then you will drop the other services they provide and I assume your two email addresses are included.
If your site is a commercial or ecommerce site I would not change your host for MobileMe. It's slower, more unreliable (due to the high server side overhead software to support the social networking aspects of MobileMe), there's no ear to ear customer support and it's against the Terms of Use for MobileMe accounts (although I've not heard of any site getting bumped off for that reason).
You could keep the current account to use the email and still host the site on MMe.

  • Unable to send and receive email for external domain

    Hi,
I just installed Exchange Server on my 2K8 domain controller. I have set up the send connector and made necessary changes to the receive connector as well. I have updated the DNS records as well on my domain registrar. I can access OWA from outside my companies
network and is able to send and receive emails for my domain but unable to send or receive emails to any other domain. I have checked the delivery report and it says that the message has been queued on the server.
I also did nslookup. Results mentioned below:

    Hi hg01,
According to your description, I notice that you installed Exchange server on a DC.
It is not recommended to install Exchange server on a DC. I suggest install Exchange server on a member server. More details to see:
Installing Exchange on a domain controller is not recommended
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms.exch.setupreadiness.warninginstallexchangerolesondomaincontroller(v=exchg.150).aspx
About your issue, cannot send and receive externally, I suggest make sure the DNS can be resolved first.
Then, check whether Outlook Anywhere has been enabled. If not, please enable it on both Exchange server and Outlook client side.
Last, try to configure both Send Connector and Receive Connector.
More detailed error message will be helpful for the further troubleshooting.
    Thanks

  • Not receiving email from one domain

    Hi,
I am running Exchange 2003 on Windows Server 2003 SP2 and suddenly starting having the problem of not receiving mail from one domain.  All other domains seem to be fine, although seem slower to receive mail than normal.  The sender of the domain in question does not receive any NDR or bounce back error messages, so they are none the wiser the mail has come through.  I have checked the junk/spam, I don't have any filters which could be blocking the domain.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks

    Hi,
Please enable the protocol log on SMTP virtual server to check whether the remote domain has attempted to connect to your exchange server to send email to you.
If the remote domain has attempted to connect to your exchange server, please check whether the message is received by the SMTP server. If the message has been received, please use the message tracking log or queue viewer to check whether the message stuck on the server.
If the message is rejected, you can use protocol log to gather further information.
If the remote domain does not attempt to connect to your exchange server, I think you need to work with the remote domain admin regarding the issue as other domains are able to send email to you with no problem.

  • Email at personal domain

I have my personal domain published with iWeb at www.mac.com. I would like to know if I can set up email with my domain name.
    www.name@personal domain.com????

It is tricky but here is how I did it.
I use ENOM as a registrar (godaddy should offer the same service) With my registrar, I forward my [email protected] email to my .Mac account email. That is the easy part to figure out. Now all my email from [email protected] goes to my .Mac email account. They next step is to send mail from [email protected] To do this I modifed my .Mac account settings in entourage. I changed the email address to [email protected] and I changed my outgoing SMTP server to the one for my internet service provider (mail.charter.net) (mail.bellsouth.net), etc.
This makes your .Mac account a shell account it receives mail to itself and mail forwarded from [email protected] but it is not used to send mail back out. That is done by my ISP that doesn't require a secure connection from within its network
This would not work well for a roaming laptop or if ever wanted to sent mail from your .Mac email address but it works otherwise.

  • Personal domain on MobileMe, repetitive URL addresses and personal site?

Okay, this may be two topics, but I don't know how to describe it briefly enough for the subject line to get it all across. At least not at the end of a long day.
I have a website I designed and published via iWeb '09 promoting my home motorcycle service. I have the domain name registered through GoDaddy.com. I followed the instructions posted in another thread linked to GoDaddy's MobileMe instructions, and also used MobileMe's personal domain instructions to the point where it appears to work, but I still feel like I'm doing something wrong. The domain name is below.
    www.bltmoto.com
However, when you type this into a browser, it forwards to my PERSONAL site which is also in the same iWeb file, which is basically just a blog and some pictures. It takes you to:
    http://www.bltmoto.com/crat/HQ.html
...when I'm trying to get it to bring up this content:
    http://www.bltmoto.com/BLTMotoService/Home.html
I was under the assumption that my personal site would remain located within the web.me.com domain, but it appears not if it's part of the same iWeb file. Is this correct? So hypothetically, if I was to get a domain name for my personal site, like www.chrisratledge.com, or whatever, could I get it to work independently of my moto service site within the same iWeb file? Would I have to duplicate the file and delete one of the other ones to keep them separate, or would that not work either? In other words, in iWeb, when you choose "New Site," will it always be like a subdomain (don't know if I'm using that nomenclature correctly) on your account?
Also, is there a way to truncate my URLs for these sites? Like when I type in www.bltmoto.com, it would exist and displays in the URL field of the browser as:
    http://www.bltmoto.com/Home.html
    instead of:
    http://www.bltmoto.com/BLTMotoService/Home.html
Also, the page names in iWeb I designate also appear directly as typed in the URL address line and at the top of the browser title bar. Is there a way in iWeb to change this? I'd like the Title bar to display the company name and page info, such as:
    "BLT Moto Service Home"
    instead of just
    "Home"
Is there a way to change or modify this within iWeb, or is this strictly a HTML code modification?
I know this is a lot and hopefully I've been clear enough in my description, please help if you can. Thank you

    Ethmoid wrote:
...the site that you have published first will be connected to your domain name....If the first site is published first, then this will be the first linked to your domain name and will come up.
Okay, I figured that may be the case for that issue, shortly after I asked the question, just didn't mess with the order to verify it.
Basically, iWeb site structure is to produce a url that is http://www.domain.com/sitename/pagename. The only way that you can change this if you are publishing to MME is to change the way in which you forward your domain name - change CNAME to ordinary web forwarding and then your url will be http://www.domain.com for every single page of your site. The only draw back to this is that individual pages of your site cannot be bookmarked, just the whole site.
Hmm, so I think I see what you're saying about the page structure, so no matter what I do while publishing and hosting on MME, the only way to have my domain name stay "www.bltmoto.com" is to change the CNAME setting on GoDaddy to "ordinary web forwarding" - I have no idea what that is or how to do it - but then every single site and page I publish will only have the "www.bltmoto.com" URL?
Your only other option is to purchase a hosting account from GoDaddy and upload your site directly - if you do this you can upload just the contents of your site folder rather than the whole folder itself and this will then give you the domain name www.domain.com/pagename. RSS feed will not work though, as you have broken iWeb's site structure and I see that you do use this so it might not be a viable option for you.
So is there no way to create separate websites with separate domains using iWeb, and publish them to other MME accounts or keep them separate? My dad wants me to put together a site for him that he would publish and host on his MME account. Does this mean I'd have to create it on his machine, or could I create a new iWeb file for his site and publish it to his account from my computer? Suddenly the convenience appeal of the marketed ability to host personal domain names on MME doesn't seem convenient at all.
I think maybe you addressed this on my other questions in another thread...

  • Personal Domain and MobileMe

Once I changed my settings to my Personal Domain, I could no longer post my second MobileMe site. Can I use a Personal Domain and have more than one MobileMe site?

This is incorrect. You can only use the personal domain name option with CNAME forwarding ONCE for every MobileMe account. If you want other sites, then you can publish as many as you want and they will have the url http://web.me.com/username/sitename. If you want to use domain names with these sites, then you can, but you have to use ordinary masked or unmasked web forwarding so that your domain is forwarded to web.me.com/username/sitename.
Also, why do you persist in placing links that don't work? Try clicking on your WordPress link and it comes up every time with server not found.

  • Multiple Personal Domains on MobileMe

Thinking about getting Mobile Me but between my wife and I we have four web-sites all with their own domain names.
I know that MobileMe definitely supports having one personal domain name and multiple sites but does it support multiple sites with different personal domain names and if so, how?
    Many thanks!

    Para_Handy wrote:

Welcome to the discussions. Yes, but on an Individual MobileMe account, only one domain can be configured via CNAME. The other domains have to be configured as "web forwarding" (with or without masking.) More details here:
    http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWeb_Domains.html
A MobileMe *Family Pack's* members could each have a domain configured via CNAME:

  • Personal domain at mobileme

I succeeded in directing my personal domain to be hosted with Mobileme.
However, when I access my site, my address is duplicated. For instance, it is reading as follows: "www.example.com/www.example.com/Welcome.html" when it should only be "www.example.com/Welcome.html.
I would be grateful for any suggestions.

"www.example.com/www.example.com/Welcome.html" when it should only be "www.example.com/Welcome.html.
The second www.example.com is your iWeb Site name. You typed it yourself. You can change it in something else.
    it should only be
    Not according to iWeb.
It's always a good idea to understand the concept of Site in iWeb. [From my article|http://iweb.dailynews.webege.com/Howto_publish_to_a_subdomain_withiWeb.html] :
    *The concepts of iWeb Sites*
+iWeb uses the concept of Sites. A Site contains all the pages, images, movies and everthing else you drop on the canvas. It’s a selfcontained set of files and folders.+
+You create one or more Sites in iWeb.+
+When iWeb publishes these Sites it creates an index.html file in the root of the server. And it also creates one in each Sites folder.+
+The index.html has a refresh meta tag in the HEAD of the HTML page.+
+When you use the shortest URL possible, or use a URL without a pagename, the index.html file redirects (refreshes) as follows :+
+http://www.yourdomain.com/ redirects to the first page in the first Site.+
+http://www.yourdomain.com/Sitename/ redirects to the first page in that Site.+
+When you move a page to the top in a iWeb Site, iWeb creates new index.html files to redirect to that page.+
+Also, when you change the order of the Sites, iWeb creates a new index.html file to redirect to the first page in the Site that's now the first Site in your iWeb project.+
+This way it is not neccessary to rename a page to index.html when you make that page the default page of a Site.+
+The concept of Sites is the reason why iWeb doesn't publish its pages directly in the root of the server.+
+You can change the Site name but you cannot delete it. If you don't like the Site name type other characters.+
The alternative is to publish to a folder and put the CONTENT of tha folder in the root of the server. In this case the iDisk > Web > Sites folder.
Note that it has some drawbacks. Noticeably the RSS feeds won't work.

  • Not receiving email to my MobileMe account from one specific domain

Starting 2 days ago I stopped receiving email addressed to my "@mac.com" or "me.com" account from one specific domain. Prior to that I had no problem receiving email from that domain. I have no problems receiving email into my MobileMe accounts from many other senders. People with email addresses under this domain can send emails to my Gmail account from the same origination account and they come through just fine. The emails that do not appear are not in my junk mail and they never get "bounced back" to the sender as undeliverable.
I use Mail under Leopard 10.5.4 with all updates installed.
It sounds to me like this domain has been "blacklisted" by Apple but I have never heard of them doing this.
    Any suggestions would appreciated.

    petervan 58,
Just this one person? Your .mac account is getting mail from others OK? Does the person have your email address correct on their phone.

  • SPF and redirecting Personal Domain Emails to btin...

Concern has been raised due to  Critical Path not delivering emails that SPF checks might stop emails, using  personal domain email addresses that were redirected (ie forwarded) to btinternet addresses, being delivered. Now that Critical Path appear to have temporarily fixed the issue the following email header obtained after the fix shows that the concerns are unfounded.
It is preferable  that when the "temporary" is removed removed from the current fix,  BT ensure that Critical Path are not allowed to prevent delivery of any emails but pass them on to the recipient in a similar way as illustrated below.
The email header below, taken after the temporary fix by Critical Path, shows that when the redirection takes place no SPF check is done. It also shows that SPF check failure takes place when emails are forwarded from Critical Path to Yahoo.
Note that most of the header has to be read from bottom to top eg Section A followed by Section B etc.
The email was to payments@redacted ( ie @xxx.co.uk) that was redirected to [email protected] (ie [email protected])
The redirection takes place at sections B and C.
This email has several interesting features two of which are:
    1. It has a spoofed senders address and
    2. It contains a virus.

    Works fine
    123-reg -> CP
Email rejected due to SPF check failed
The "spf fail" you are seeing in your headers is actually added by Yahoo, since your mailbox has not yet been migrated to CP, and your btinternet mail is being forwarded to your BT Yahoo mailbox. Yahoo do not reject mail on SPF hard fail.   I indicated this in my post.
Prior to the relaxation of SPF reject by CP, CP was not forwarding your mail to Yahoo because CP was taking the decision to reject the mail on SPF hard fail.
I have headers before the temporary fix that have no indication of CP checking SPF.
Mail route (post relaxation of SPF reject):
    Amazon -> 123-reg
    Works fine
    123-reg -> CP
Email now not rejected due to SPF check failed
But no indication that it did any checking.
CP -> Yahoo (if mailbox not yet migrated)
Yahoo adds SPF fail header but mail still accepted
My comments on your diagnosis is in red above.
It looks as if CP might handle "SPF hard fail policy" differently (from the obvious) than other policies eg not report them.
Has anyone got any headers for BT Mail implementations ?
Failure to deliver emails to recipients without any notification is unacceptable for any public email service.

I have a client that wants to use personal domain names and also wants to use email addresses with these domains.
