Able to make changes without system Key

I have been trying to set a authorization group for a SAP defined program. SAPMSUU0 is the program which runs in the background when SU01 is run. I go to SE38 and type in this program name and click on attributes and then Change. Here it asks me to enter the system key however when I run the report RSCSAUTH, I can set the authorization group for this program. Is this how it is supposed to work?

Yes. The report does not check the developer key, but it makes some other fierce checks...

  • Padlock will not unlock when i attempt to make changes to system preferences

After recently upgrading to Mountain Lion, when i try to click the padlock to make changes in system preferences, it does not do anything.  I have already repaired disk permissions, still no luck.  Any suggestions??

No luck.  When I click the padlock, it should popup my username and ask for my password.  it doesn't even do that.  the padlock just jiggles and doesn't attempt to open.

  • Cannot make changes to system HD - partition layout greyed out

    Hi!
I recently reformatted my entire drive and reinstalled Lion with the official Lion USB recovery tool/usb. Now in disk utility the Partition Layout option is greyed out and I can not seem to re partition my disk. I´ve tried repairing my disk rights but still its greyed out.
I ran a demo of iPartition and this message was flagged:
"You cannot make changes to the disk from which your system booted.
To make changes to this disk, you should either boot from an external drive, use Target Disk Mode with another Mac, or create a bootable CD/DVD."
Does this mean I can only make changes with it when booting with the usb? This doesn´t make sense as it worked on the default startdisk before. Does anyone have solution?

It worked with the usb key, thank you!
You're welcome. Glad that worked for you.
But isn´t there a way to transfer the rights back to my disk or/and the integrated recovery partition?
I do not know the process. I suspect you'd get a quick answer by posting in the Lion forums: https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion
    Good luck to you.

  • Unable to authenticate myself to make changes in System Preferences or install programs

Hello everyone I am just freaking out because I don't want/can't reinstall the system!!
I just recently started having the problem that every time that I wanna install something, when it should ask me for my password to authenticate my admin account, the window never shows up and the program shows up as "Not responding". The same problem occurs when I try to click on the padlock in the System Preferences to try to make a change it changes from "click the lock to make changes" into "authenticating" but the window never shows up (images below).
I am the only user with Admin rights in my Mac OS 10.10.2; MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011), 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 10 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB.
    I have tried:
    - I restarted - no good.
    - Repair the permissions - no good.
    - Also tried repairing the keychain access - no good.
    - In Terminal I tried: sudo killall -9 securityd; sudo pkill -HUP securityd; ssudo killall -HUP securityd - no good (and said that only Apple apps can do that).
I checked in the console and this comes up:

    Hi my ginger,
Thanks for the reply, I did what you recommended and reinstall with Command+R and you were right all my files survived!
Unfortunately the situation persist I keep having the same problem and I cannot  authenticate! Still the window to enter my password doesn't show and the lock stays saying "authenticating" even after I reinstalled! :-( what could it be? !

  • I don't know my administrator's name in order to make changes in system preferences.

I cannot make any changes in system preferences because whatever 'administrator name' I put down will not work. The password is correct. What steps should I take?

Thank you so much for your help. I apparently had the wrong Admin username somehow, and found it by typing
dscl . -read /groups/admin GroupMembership | open -ef
into Terminal. A text box popped up with the root username.

  • Finder wants to make changes to system.preferences

Every time we login to our iMac, a window comes up with "Finder wants to make changes" and asks for my password. The details indicate the change is to the system.preferences file, but I can't recall trying to make any changes.
How do I make sure that someone (e.g., one of our kids) didn't change system.preferences? And how do I keep the message from coming up?
(Note that up to now, I've been clickin on "Cancel".)

Are you sure this is the correct message? There shouldn't be any file with the name "system.preferences". Post the exact message.

  • Not able to make change of text in text symbol which are stored in txt pool

    Hi Experts,
I have new problem today. I have been told to make changes of header text which is displayed after running one customized program.
Program name : ZSDXXXXX1 which is attached in one Tcode: ZSDXX2.But when I goto SE38 and display the program to make changes, it shows the following different report name like AQCSSYSTQV000009ZSDXXXXX1 and the text symbols text-f58 which are somewhat different.
Pls gide me to proceed further...
    In SE38:
    report AQCSSYSTQV000009ZSDXXXXX1
       line-size 253 no standard page heading line-count 000(003).
    include <symbol>.
    include <icon>.
    selection-screen: begin of block prog
                               with frame title text-f58.
    tables LIKP.
    data %count-LIKP(4) type x.
    data %linr-LIKP(2).
    tables aqldb.
    include rsaqexcd.
data: begin of %st_liste occurs 100,
              head(1),
              tab(3),
              line(6) type n,
              cont(1) type n,
              fint(1),
              finv(1),
              fcol(1) type n,
              text(0253),
          end of %st_liste.
    etc.

As per the report name "AQCSSYSTQV000009ZSDXXXXX1", it seems that there will be a SAP Infoset "ZSDXXXXX1"
Go to transaction SQ02 with this infoset name "ZSDXXXXX1" then press change button.
Then on right hand side there witll be field groups/data fields. Select the folder corresponding to Text-F58 and then press change button .
If it does not work try transaction SQ01 & SQ03.

  • Not able to make changes to workbook after transporting

    Hi all,
I have transported query and the associated workbook from Dev to QA
when i open the query using query designer in Dev, it is not allowing me to make changes.
Now I need to make changes to workbook in Dev (ex. display long text instead of short) and tranport.
when i make these changes and save the workbook and rerun the workbook, the changes are not reflecting
    even in Dev.
Any ideas what might be going on?
I already tried collecting the workbook and then making the changes.
    It's still not working.
    Thanks,

    Hi
    Thanks for your response.
My workbook is simply a 'save as workbook' version of the main query.
The main query is fine in QA, it is just that I need to modify the workbook (example change order of fields etc).
I already tried collecting workbook and making changes. It didn't work
Do  I also need to collect the original query to capture changes to the workbook.
If so, do I need all the query elements while collecting the query.
    Thanks

  • Itunes is not able to make changes to a running title, problem is new since feb 10th

I'm located in Germany, sorry for some english mistakes. Hope to get the problem clear ;-) My itunes library is located on a NAS-storage. Made the firmware Update for Airport Extreme a few days ago. . SInce that time it's not possible to make changes in the Information of a running title in itunes. To get the problem clear i like to explain: got about 100thousand titles in itunes, use it for many years, always the same workflow: I listen to a new title and make changes to the title-information such as intensity, genre, cover-editing, composers, comments, etc. No problem, it was always stored to the file. Now it is possible to do this changes, but the next time, you play this title, information is automatically setting back to the original infornation. If I do this to a NOT running title, the information is to be fixed properly. I use my library for professional work, so this is not acceptable, because it's taking far too much time in the progress. Maybe it's a network problem, not an itunes problem. But maybe someone else got the same experience.
    How i loved itunes 10....
Hey folks, if maybe anyone at apple should read this (I'm shure they won't),  itunes 11 is the worst software that was ever released by apple. Sorry to say that! I never thought of switching back to PC, but now I'm looking for a better solution.
AND WHY HAVE YOU KILLED THE COVER-DISPLAY IN THE SIDEBAR........     It's nothing to understand...

Contact Apple for a replacement disc (you will need to give them the serial # of the iMac)

  • Cannot make changes without clearing cache

I am having a problem when making changes of any sort to any page. In order for my change to show up, I have to clear entire web cache through webcache admin page. For instance, I tried to delete a group from access privelge list from one of my tabs and it would not show up until after I had cleared entire webcache. This applies to anything now, any change I make I have to clear entire webcache. Please help!!!
    Doug

To add to Erik's answer the invalidation messages are sent from the Portal repository (utl_http) database direct to the Web Cache invalidation port, it is common for customers to erroneously set up a firewall blocking HTTP traffic form the db tier to the WC tier which results in the symptoms you describe.
    Cheers,
    Mick.

The first thing you should do after acquiring a used computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the gray installation discs that came with it. If you don't have the discs, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc, hold down the C key at the chime.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, it should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.

  • Click the lock to make changes

I have a clean install of Mountain Lion OS X on a Mid 2010 Macbook Pro.  I'm running into a problem when I go to click on the lock in any System Preferences window.  I go to click on the lock and nothing happens.  It does a short stutter, but then I don't get the authentication window.  When I do a reboot, it works as advertised.  I've had to do this everytime I've needed to make changes in System Preferences.  When I started looking around the Apple Support Communitites somone had mentioned they had this problem with Lion.  Unfortunatly, there wasn't an answer that fixed the problem.  Someone recommended performing the fix disk permissions in disk utility.  However, that did not fix my problem.
I'm turning to Apple Support Communites for help!

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
