Ableton Fold To Scale ... Possible In Logic?

In Ableton there is a feature called Fold To Scale, it can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4fbQfg389Q
Is there a similar feature in Logic?

Avidfcp,
I found a great tutorial on setting up Logic's Environment to build an arpeggiator. The cool thing about it is it also allows you both play and record your arpeggiation.
Here's the link: http://audio.tutsplus.com/tutorials/production/how-to-make-arpeggiated-lead-soun ds-in-logic/.
Hope this helps!

Where can I find the "All Images" list?  When I go to Finder - Pictures there is nothing there (just the new iPhoto library that is empty).  They are not in the "All My Files" folder nor the Trash. Though, when they were in iPhoto previously, I could never see them in the "All My Files" folder, either - which I thought was weird.  Thanks again for your support.

Get this error when trying to install Logic patch 9.1.4 to my machine.

Thx, but i had already read that and tried it: did not work.
Got it fixed now by reinstalling Logic Studio 9 from DVD.
That indeed creates the Logic Pro folder in Applications - something I had tried earlier by simply moving my existing Logic folder. This means the Logic 9.1.5 update does not simply check a folder name: there must be another entry/registry entry it checks. Reinstalling Logic Studio from scratch solved it for me.
After reinstalling thought Lion forgot my Focusrite Saffire 40, so no DAW. Solved that by reading a forum entry on beta drivers.
So I am happy, music creation wise.
Left for me is to solve the X Mail application saying it does not run under Lion!

I even pulled the dmg file into the Logic Studio folder in my applications directory and it still does not recognize it.  What do I do now?

    Niel:  Thanks.
For others benefit, here is what happened.
I had installed Logic Studio 9.1 some time ago.......not knowing what all the programs were nor what they did, I created a "Logic Studio" subfolder in my applications folder and put all Logic Studio programs into it so I'd know where they were and could review each at my leisure over time.
My assumption now is that when the updater looks for the Logic Pro program, it looks only in the applications folder.  It seems lame that it would not also look in the subfolders of the applications folder, but that apparently IS the way it works.  Because my Logic Pro program was located in the "Logic Studio" subfolder, the updater just didn't see it..hence the error message I received when I tried to update.
Solution:  I moved all the Logic Studio programs out of the subfolder and now they reside in the applications folder. Ran the 9.1.5 updater and it worked like a charm.

  • For any given Bookmarks folder, is it possible to have the subfolders appear *above* individual links?

For any given Bookmarks folder, is it possible to have the subfolders all appear *above* the individual links (as they do in Internet Explorer), rather than mixed together alphabetically? (Or is there perhaps an add-on that will allow me to do this?)

Provisional solution is to place one or more zeros in front of your folder names, that way they should always appear on top in their alphabetical order.

Any OS version of 10.8.4 or later has all features that are not OS depended. The plugins are one example. You probably haven't updated all versions of Logic Pro X to the latest one.

  • Can't find a LE 8 Icon folder in either Application Support/Logic

I can't find a Logic Express icon folder in either HD/Application Support/Logic or User/Application Support/Logic but I have the icons available in LE 8. I just want to drag some LE 7 icons into LE 8 from my clone I took before upgrading. A Spotlight search shows no folder with them anywhere. I have no HD or Users/Application Support/Logic/Images folder at all.

    Brazeca,
As you instructed, I went into Logic Express 7 & 8 package contents to get the LE 7 icons and see what was going on in LE 8. LE 8 has two icon folders, one called "Icons" with the default-accessible 149 icons numbering from 1 to 324 or 325 (with a lot of numbers missing), and another folder called "Legacy Icons" that have numbers which fit in between the icon numbers already being used in the Icon folder. This Legacy Icon folder has all or most of the missing icons I'm looking for from LE 7 but do not show up in LE 8 (unless it is imported on a track in a LE 7 file that used it). To use those Legacy Icons in LE 8, my guess is that I can move any of them I want into the Icons folder within the LE 8's package contents rather than set up a user icon folder in ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Images as you suggested and stated in the manual. I guess that user Icon folder could be used for other custom icons above number 325.
It'd be nice if this information was in the manual. I'm going move one now and see what happens.

  • Can't run Ableton Live 8 as slave with Logic 9 in 64bit (Melodyne error)

    Hi,
Just downloaded Melodyne Editor 2.01 and installed on Mac Book Pro and iMac. I loaded Logic 9 in 64bit and then Ableton Live 8 as a slave. I was met with the following message:
An error has occurred while opening “Melodyne singletrack” via ReWire. It is probably already in use. In order to run this program as a ReWire slave application, you will have to launch Live first.
This stops Live from working as a slave. This does not happen when Logic in launched in 32bit mode and everything works normally. The same thing is happening on both my Mac Book Pro and iMac.
Can I run Live 8 as a slave with Logic in 64bit mode? If so can anyone suggest a work around or solution please. I tried to search but couldn't find what I was looking for.
Thanks in advance, apologies if its a daft question.
    SM.
    Logic 9 (latest version)
    Live 8 (latest version)
    Melodyne Editor 2 (latest version)
    Mac Book Pro (2010)
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    8GB RAM
    OS X Lion 10.7.2
    iMac (2011)
    2.8 Quad Core i7
    12GB RAM
    OS X Lion (latest version)

Do you actually have Rewire installed?
If you are on an Intel machine, then you're running Logic intel-native but Live 4 PPC-emulated - you should really upgrade to a version of Live that works natively on your Intel Mac.
This maybe why Logic can't see Live, depending on how Rewire handles this.

  • Many kernel panics, possible dead logic board?

I hope someone can help my diagnose my recently quirky iMac G4 1 ghz 17 in flat panel. I currently have a 250 G Seagate hard drive, 1 G memory. It's running Tiger 10.4.11...or attempting to run it.
This computer ran beautifully until several weeks ago when I foolishly attempted to upgrade to Leopard. Only about a third of Leopard got installed when the system froze and crashed. I managed to access the hard drive and did a complete wipe and install of good old Tiger, upgraded to 10.4.10 which ran without a glitch in the past.
However, even after this clean reinstall I continued to get freezes and kernel panics. I repaired all permissions carefully after each upgrade and I ran Disk Utility with no problems detected and no repairs needing to be done. I tried to run Disk Warrior to double check but continued to have system freezes and kernel panics while running Disk Warrior!! The panics were/are intermittent. The computer behaves fine until I've used it for a few hours, then crashes, usually while I am in Safari or iTunes, but occasionally I will get a panic at start up.
I have replaced the hard drive with a brand new one as it was still under warranty. I tested the memory and determined by process of elimination that the stick of RAM on the logic board was not functioning. I replaced that.
So, I have a new hard drive and functional memory and tried a Tiger fresh reinstall yet again today. The system continues to crash episodically...used the computer for a few hours this am before I got a kernel panic. This afternoon it resuscitated itself enough to let me put upgrade 10.4.5 on it and crashed in the middle of the upgrade! Bear in mind the machine's run all these upgrades and functioned fine in the past.
I think I obviously have a hardware problem and since I've recently replaced the hard drive and both memory modules as well as done a fresh reinstall of the OS version this iMac used to run perfectly, I'm thinking I have a logic board issue.
Any opinions or suggestions on how I might get these issues worked out would be very much appreciated!

Thanks for responding. Yes, I've already followed all those suggestions to the letter. Unfortunately I do not have the original Apple Hardware Test disc that came with this computer. I have oredered a copy of Tech Tool Pro and plan to run it but it has yet to arrive.
I let the computer rest overnight and it booted right up and so far no freezes or panics, I've been using it about a half-hour.
Of note, in the kernel panic log folder it says,

  • Possibly a logic issue? Using EWQL PLAY as a plugin

I recently installed 2 PLAY libraries from EWQL, and have tried them as stand alones with no problems. I am supposed to be able to find PLAY in the same place I have Kontakt 3. AU instruments --> EWQL, but it is not there.
I tried troubleshooting elsewhere, and was told to check that the play component file was present in Macintosh HD --> Library --> Audio --> Plugins --> Components folder. It was there, so I trashed it, reinstalled the most recent PLAY update, verified that it was present afterward, and restarted logic...
Still not there in the plugin menu. Anything I can do to change this?

Found the audio units manager, checked the box that was unchecked, validated it, it's there now!
    Thanks much

  • Folder Modification Dates -- possible to override this behavior?

Opening a previously unopened folder causes its modification date to change -- a system behavior that aggravates me to no end. Is there a way of overriding or supressing this behavior with a Unix command?
Also, is there any way to force a folder's modification date to revert to its creation date?
    -=iSchwartz=-

    Hi,
I don't know if it's possible to change that behaviour, but there are ways to (batch) change the modification date to the same as the creation date and vice versa. I used this with scans of old pictures to regain correct sorting in iPhoto because they had no EXIF date.
You can use Miana to set the desired dates or Twotade to equal the 2 dates Here are the links:

    Hope this helps a little!

  • IPad 2 playing of all music videos in the folder is not possible. You can play a music video (all purchased from iTunes) but once is finished you have to manually select another one. This defeats the whole concept of having a music video library

How could we play all music videos within the music folder in the iPad2 ? In other words, select all, choose random, and click play and all music videos will automatically play upon completion of the one been viewed without the user having to deselect another video manually (annoying interrupt).
Currently you have to choose each music video and upon completion choose the next one manually. That defeats the whole concept of a music video library.
This does not happen on previous iPad or MacBook Pro iTunes!!!!!
    Very annoying.
    Thanks,

  • Is this possible in Logic?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u54CCV-zOEA

Presumably there is an audio unit version of the Virus control plugin.
If it supports routing audio into it (and therefore to the Virus), then it will be done in one of two ways.
Open the audio instrument version of the plugin (if there is one) and see if it has a "sidechain" button at the top of the plugin. If so, it supports sidechaining audio into it.
If there is an FX version of the plugin (the equivalent of the "VST FX" plugin type), then it will also be in the audio effects plugin menu in Logic, and should be able to process audio (which is the point of an effects plugin).
So it really depends what features the audiounit version of the plugin supports.

  • Lost Folder containing Pictures possibly deleted by Mcafee shredder

I think i've deleted my family pictures by using macafee shredder. Is there anyway of getting them back. I have a satellite L10-114
    Regards
    Stu

    Hi Stu,
If you have deleted folfers or files with McAfee Shredder, then I would be very surprised if you can recover them. Normally when files are deleted the actual data is still present on the hard drive and this makes it possible to recover the data using commercially available software downloadable from the internet, but with McAfee Shredder the data on the hard drive is actually overwritten to make sure that this cannot be done.
Sadly, unless you have you pictures backed up somewhere else then it is likely that they have been irrecoverably lost. :-(
