Abnormal voltage on GE4 MX440-T

I just installed a GE4 MX440-T  in my system along with the 3D Turbo application. I've been getting abnormal memory voltage ( from 1.19 to 3.08 ) and temperature warnings after launching the 3D Turbo software.
i'm running a PIII 550
Supermicro board with 2x AGP
sound blaster live
SCSI cd/rw
LG CD-Rom
Nic card
Seagate hard drive
LS-120 floppy drive
PS/2 mouse and keyboard
ATX case with 250 watt PS
Is this a software error or do I really have a power, slot or card issue here.
Help?
Surfer.

i had the exact same problem with my g4mx 440-t card. it gave me voltage and temperature warnings( 3.06 volts) it seems that it is a flaw with the software. no one from the forum gave me a satisfactory reply so i called my vendor and he said that uninstall the soft cos it sometimes show this error. since msi does not help us out in any way so i uninstalled the soft. my card is working well.

    "AGP 3.0", 1.5v, 8x, 4x, 0.8v
    Evidentally it is not "Universal 1.5v AGP 3.0", 1.5v, 8x, 4x, 2x, 1x 1.5v, 0.8v
You need to load the chipset drivers properly and make sure the GART drivers were applied completely before installing VGA drivers.
These factors are probably part of the problem. Please supply the missing information.
Also what version of nVidia Unified drivers are you installing?
I don't recommend 98SE for that rig, the nForce chipset was engineered with XP/2000 in mind and support for 98SE was limited when the nVidia Chipset was born, perhaps they have improved but I am skeptical.
    Good luck.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR voltage regulators BURNING!!!

I had to test this motherboard because it was giving boot problems and it never lasted more than 2 minutes.
I set stock clocks for the CPU and also stock voltages.  I set downgraded clocks and even voltages, stability was improved but no more than 5 minutes.
After checking the board looking for something abnormal, I found the voltage regulator heatsinks too hot!!!.
Has someone got a similar problem??? Because I want to know before I try RMA, here in Argentina everyone with this mobo has some sort of problem. I think this mobo s---s but
I have to fix the problem in some way.

The hardware I´m running is the signature´s hardware except, obviously, for the motherboard.
I tested this mobo with my hardware, beacuse I´m sure it works correctly.
I don´t have my PSU specs because I changed the cover and it doesn´t have the sticker where it shows the currents.
It´s a 350 W Sunshine PSU, the one that is listed in my signature.
But I don´t think it´s a PSU problem, because I´ve already tested it with another PSU, a
Thermaltake one, and the problem persists.
I had the idea to add a fan to the heatsinks, I did this and stability was improved, so I´m almost sure that the problem is on the mobo and I´ll have to send it to RMA, but still any suggestions wil be apreciated

  • Poor performance and voltage fluctuation.

I'm running two 280x in crossfire which I upgraded from two 6970's.   When I'm playing DayZ my FPS never go above 30 FPS.  With my 6970's I was well into the 70's.  I never changed my video settings when I went from the 6970's to the 280X's.   For the most part I have a lot of the graphics low or disabled.   Borderlands 2 is a nightmare on the 280X.  I drop down into 10 fps area and this has never happened with on my 6970's.
During games my core voltage fluctuates between 500mhz and 1020mhz during game play.  I have ULPS disable as well.
My power supply is an Antec HCG-900.
Happened on all these drivers 14.4, 14.6 Beta, and 14.6 RC (currently installed).

jwcxz wrote:Have you looked at your process table for any program with abnormal CPU usage?  That seems like the logical place to start.  You shouldn't be getting poor performance in anything with that system.  I have a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo and an Intel GMA 965 and I've never had any problems with Flash.  It's much better than it used to be.
Pidgin scared me for a while because it froze for no apparent reason. After fixing this, the table contains this two guys here:
    %CPU
    Firefox: 80%~100%
    X: 0~20%
Graphic intensive test, so I think the X usage is normal. It might be some oddity at the Firefox+Linux+Flash sum, maybe a conflict. I'll try another browser.
    EDIT:
Did a Javascript benchmark to test both systems and browsers.
    Windows XP + Firefox = 4361.4ms
    Arch + Firefox = 5146.0ms
So, it's actually a lot slower without even taking Flash into account. If someone knows a platform-independent benchmark to test both systems completely, and not only the browser, feel free to point out.
I think that something is already wrong here and the lack of power saving systems only aggravated the problem, causing overheat.
    EDIT2:
Browser performance fixed: migrated to Midori. Flash stills slower than on Windows, but now it's bearable. Pretty neat browser too, goes better with the Arch Way. It shouldn't fix the temperature, however.
Applied B's idea, but didn't test yet. I'm not into the mood of playing flash games for two straight hours today.

  • Random Shutdown: Locked Clockspeed, Processor Voltage Correlation?

I use Hardware Monitor to keep track of more sensor readouts than just temps. I recommend everyone install it. Using it, I've discovered some weird behavior in the processor clockspeed and voltage that correlates in a predictable with my typical macbook random shutdown problem. I wonder if others witness the same correlation.
Normally, according to my sensor readings, the clockspeed and cpu voltage fluctuate frequently and continually, presumably according to the demands on the processor. Clockspeed typically runs between 1333Mhz and 2000Mhz, voltage between 1.00 and 1.30V.
When running like this, it is subject to random shutdowns at any time, but most especially — indeed with absolute reliability, so to speak — within ten minutes of waking from sleep — regardless of whether i'm using mail, surfing, playing music, or running intense calculations and (so far as i can tell), regardless of how many or few processes are running simultaneously, and regardless of temperature readings. Indeed, now with the new firmware update my temps are quite low. In fact, since the computer most reliably shuts down soon after waking up, it's temp at shutdown often registers no more than the mid-50s (it'll shut down at 47).
After the macbook shuts down, it refuses to restart reliably with a simple press of the power button. Like many others, I have to hold down the power button for about ten seconds, until I hear the pained protracted beep, before the computer will enter into the normal booting process.
After it boots up like this from a shutdown — and this is what I haven't seen enough commentary on — the processor speed remains locked at 1000Mhz and the voltage at .99V until the computer goes to sleep again.
While the computer is locked into this slow-clockspeed-low-voltage mode, it is absolutely reliable. It never shuts down randomly. It runs much slower. Which is really noticeable and frustrating when using any graphics-intense or movie app.
    So my questions are:
Does anyone else experience this sort of locking processor behavior?
Why would the processor lock like this?
Is it possible that the sensors are wrong? That in fact the processor is fluctuating normally but now the computer doesn't "know" it?
How would the processor's ability to vary its clockspeed and the voltage it draws affect its propensity to shutdown randomly?
I would be grateful for the observations of others regarding clockspeed and voltage at shutdown and after rebooting.
    Thanks.
    macbook 2.0 Ghz, 1.25GB, 80GB, week 20 Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    hi
I have exactly same problems and symptoms.
It was a refurbished week 20 unit from apple uk it arrived in excellent condition and worked perfectly for two weeks without the fan comeing on at all it was perfectly quiet but hot.
As this was my first mac I was unaware that this was abnormal I had heard that they ran hot but being new to mac I was on a learning curve. Then two days after the remorse return period it began to shut down the first time was after a period of sleep just after I opened the lid. It then was and still is impossible to start it from warm or cold in the normal way, but only by holding the power down until beep. Then it will work for days at 27 deg c without a problem all be it at the 1 gig reduced speed which as you say is frustrating to say the least. Applecare UK don't acknowledge the problem at all they just want to treat it as a normal warrenty repair at my inconvenience. I am at present awaiting a more generous response from apple. I'm demanding a replacement unit but they just want we to fill out their standard web questionaire. (with non relavant tick boxs) If only one could speak to a real knowledgeable individual at apple I'm sure I'd get some satisfaction. But in this age of executive big bonuses what can one expect.
I hope Apple get real with this soon because the disscussion forums are getting overloaded with this issue its getting harder to login have you noticed.
    yours unhappy customer.

  • HELP! GEFORCE 4 MX440 FREEZE ON 3D

    Hello,
Can someone please help me. I just bought a geforce 4 mx440 64mb DDR card to replace my older M64 32mb card. I uninstalled the old card and its drivers. When I installed the new card, it worked, but it freezes my computer whenever anything 3D runs. Like my screen saver, games, and benchmarking utilities. I have tried both MSI and nvidia drivers. Even a few different versions of the drivers. Still, nothing works. I used MSI 3D turbo software and that starts up, but immediatly pops up a small window stating my voltage or something is high? I read about this on the other forums and it states that you must be AGP 2 compliant. Which my board is. So, I am running out of things to try. Does anyone have any suggestions or news about this? My old card works fine, but this new one wont do any 3D.
    Here is my system.

    Pysmon,
Im fully aware of whom Deathstalker and Wonkanoby are. There older than dirt (no offence gentelmen). Everyone knows there the go to guys. None the less, my issue wasnt the PSU as they "thought" it was. Seems that there is a lot of mombo jumbo about weaker PSU's. YEAH, you should have over 300. But for those whom dont, dont let these guys tell imply that your PSU is the issue. Seems to me that PSU is always mentioned. I agree that PSU is a hugh dertermining factor, but not ALWAYS the ISSUE. I almost went out and purchased a new PSU based of what the guys stated was my issue. Im glad I didnt ( I was poor at the time) becuase it works fine and has since I changed the IRQ's.
I would like to say that Death and Won.. are two smart dudes whom help more people than the OEMs do. For that, there awesome people. But the PSU thing is a TAD over rated.
For all of you whom will argue me, slam me, or bicker. Im not arguing the fact that more is better, but sometimes less works too...
    See ya around peeps,

You never gave amp details, so my guess is that you\'re probably running a better PSU than you realise.
Better PSU\'s have solved 10x the number of problems IRQ\'s ever have!!

Change the PCI slot your soundblaster is in, preferably slot 4. You can change the IRQ for your VGA card but its a little more complex.

  • Big problem with AE CS3 - abnormal  slow with nvidia 8800 GTS 512 !

I try everything, newest drivers (nvidia 8800 GTS 512), older drivers, beta drivers, alternative drivers, uninstall QTime, disable OpenGL in After Effects, delete openGL plugin.... Simply, did not help. AE CS3 is abnormal slow, type text, draw and edit mask, any kind of moving element , moving windows (interface).... everything. When turn on openGL, openGL work fine, fast, smooth., but non openGL operation (written above), still the same! I did some test and found that similar problem have with encore (not my primary application, but...). Other programs work perfectly (premiere, photoshop, illustrator). I have core2 quad 6600 @ 3 GHz, 3 GB RAM, 8800 GTS 512 @ 2560 x 1600, win XP pro strong configuration but unusable for AE CS3!!! I try to reduce resolution, but also, did not help.
Please, is there anyone with some solution? Is problem with AE or drivers? Thanks.

    >My 8800GT is not going to work with AE and it's listed under Adobe's
    >supported graphic cards????
That's premature to say. Please understand that in the OpenGL game there are just too many varaibles, a lot of them outside the control of Adobe or any other software vendor for that matter. Please consider the following:
    - if tested, a card is usually tested in one configuration available at the time that presumably will be the most common one bought by users. There is room for better sub-versions (more VRAM, higher memory clock), as well as weaker ones (less VRAM, lower clock speed).
    - the previous applies to the host computer. Nobody can test the 100 new different motherboards that come out every month let alone all that are already on the market. Same for RAM, processors, other peripherals.
    - multiple vendors may produce cards based on the same design, but may use different BIOSes and branding
    - even under ideal conditions, a given graphics card will be tested in about 30 different computer or so - some in Adobe's lab, others with Beta testers. As it stands, neither of them will necessarily coincide with your configuration nor will anyone throw a lot of money out of the window just to buy a hundred new testing machines...
    - BIOS configuration, motherboard voltage fluctuations, PCI timings and whatnot can vary from user to user and thus have drastically different influence how a certain component behaves.
    - lastly, driver configuration can vary. Even with seemingly the same driver version, the config may auto-adapt to different settings based on the environment it finds.
So given all of the above, please understand that this is a *******' tough job and by all rights nobody intentionally tries to scam users or something like that. You will also find it hard to blame anyone in legal terms, as you usually agree to use the software "as is" - with all it's flaws. As David says - please try first. We will gladly try to help you sort out any issues and who knows - none of the problems affecting other users may come down on you and you'll be a happy camper after all.

  • MX440-T8X screen orange'ish?

I just installed the MX440-T8X and when I boot up I see what should be white text that it is now all orange'ish.
The whole screen has a orange tone.
Obviously this is now right so I ask is this common when a card is faulty.
What voltage does this card need since I can't find the info on the site or any doc's in the box.
My mobo only supports 1.5v 2x/4x
    thanks

Nope that is not the case as I tried 2 monitors and then put my old video card back in and everthing is fine. I also then tired the card on another system with a older Aopen ak72 mobo and still the exact same orange'ish ting. So in totaly 3 monitors and 2 different mobo's.
So I am going to have to assume the card is faulty.

  • PXI5411 Generates DC Voltage

    HI:all
I Program PXI5411 to generate DC Voltage. The output value is normal less than 5V,but the output value is abnormal over 5V. The output value dropdown then jump up the expected value! I hope the DC output value increases from 0 to 10V smoothly. Would you help me?
    thanks!

    LIONCSU,
It may help to understand the the issue you are seeing if you assume the device is an arb and not a powersupply. Looking at the device from the perspective of an arb is the best way, as it reflects what the hardware actually does.
The output of the 5411 and 5401 has a maximum gain of 5.0. And the maximum value for DC offset is equal to 1/2 of what ever the current gain is. So, if the gain is 3, the maximum DC offset is 1.5. When a DC voltage is requested NI Fgen uses a combination of gain and DC offset to acheive the desired voltage. To help minimize glitches in the changing of the attenuators, the output is disabled while the change is taking place. I hope this explains the issue that you are seeing as it is expected with this device.

  • MSI 845 PE Max 2 (PCB 1) Temperature/Voltage

I recently bought an MSI 845 PE Max 2 (PCB 1) mainboard. It runs reliable, but I found out that the temperature of the CPU (INTEL BOXED P2.4 @ 533) gets very high.
I can easily put my hand on the heatsink (which is something that should be difficult @70 degrees).
The other thing I noticed is that my +12 voltage is abnormal (that is what I think). It reaches 11.14 v with 100% CPU utilization. The other voltages are very close, or equal to the standard voltage.
The shop could not give me a maximum voltage margin, but told me that more MSI mainboards (and ASUS too) are having trouble displaying the right temperature.
Should I worry about the voltage and how low can it be before it damages anything and is the temperature sensor issue going to be fixed in the future (bij bios, or drivers for instance)?
    Mr. C

    Thanks for your reaction.
Where can I find the technical specs of the mainboard. That way, I can maybe find some more on the temperature problem.
I installed the P4 533mhz just like the manual, but it still gets very hot (according to the software).
So I should not worry about damaging anything at 11,14V?
    Mr. C

    Hi,
Before go out to buy a converter/transformer  (you need over 2KW for all 3 of them), please check the switches at the back, they may have switches to switch from 110V to 220V. I don't know your market, my suggestion: talk with an electrician who knows the real world much better.

    Olaf:
Thanks for your reply. Sorry, my bad. I inadvertently copied wrong [name] form the msdb.dbo.backupset. On 3/13 and 3/14, the two file names did not match. In trying to select another example to show you this morning, I found that the names are now matching!
What I was doing was to create dynamic t-sql to retrieve the latest prod backup of the database, and then restore it with move to the development server. This is an ad-hoc job that the developers can run by themselves whenever they require a refresh. Unfortunately,
we only keep 3 days worth of backups for these databases, so the original disk file I was trying to use to restore no longer exists. Researching the original error, one of the error descriptions was that the restore could not find the file requested.
I thought this very strange since I get the file name directly from the backupset table. Further research did indeed show that the file names were different, but unfortunately, I failed to save the details of the file names. Anyway, in looking for a new example
to show you this morning, I have found that the file names are indeed matching exactly again. If this error pops up again, I will be sure to save all details and re-post.
Thanks, regards and best wishes to you and yours,

  • Voltage question for Inspire 5200 5.1 Speakers

Hi, I'm new to the forum, so I'm not sure if this question has been answered in the past, but...
I just moved back States-side after living in Pakistan for about 6 months, and I brought my Pakistan-bought Inspire 5200 speakers. I don't know if I should buy a voltage converter or whatever.
On the AC adaptor, it says "PRL. :230V~50Hz 320 mA... SEC. : 2V ~ 4.2A". I read up a little on this stuff, and, unless I'm mistaken, in Pakistan, the voltage is 220V and 50Hz, while in the US, its 110V and 60Hz.
Is it safe to use the speakers here WITHOUT a voltage converter or a step-down transformer?
If it isn't safe, then what specific things do I need to pick up from Radioshack to make sure my speakers work and don't short-circuit or fry?
    Thanks.

If you use the right step down transformer than it's perfectly safe. The problem is, step down transformer worsen the sound a lot unless you use the very expensi've one. But if you can't hear the different than it's good then, trust your own ear anyway. I think the best way is to change the adaptor.
