Abobe Flash Player 9, Active X

Something really wierd is happening.
Over the course of the last few days I have had to reinstall
my Adobe Flash Player because it keeps disappearing from my system.
I have tried a few things and I think that I have narrowed it
down to the exact problem.
Everytime that I delete the temp files in IE, the Adobe Flash
Player active X disappears from my add-ons and from the add/remove
in the control panel.
Does anyone know why this is happening? This only started
happening within the last few days because I always clear the temp
files and Flash Player's Active X never disappearing before!
Yikes, this is to wierd! I may be wrong on this but I'm
thinking that possibly the latest Microsoft patch that I downloaded
on Tuesday may be the culprit.(KB929969) ??
Thanks for your time,
Decorte

It is recommended that you remove older versions of Flash
Player (unless they are needed for developer testing) when
deploying the new MSI.
There is a known issue when attempting to uninstall using the
current MSI version 9.0.124.0. It will not completely remove all
entries in the system registry. This will be addressed for a future
release of Flash Player.
You can include the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller in your
deployment process. The uninstaller can be downloaded from here:
http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
In addition, the MSI is only available for deployment via the
Adobe Licensing Center:
http://www.adobe.com/licensing/
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    You have to quit Safari.
Click Safari in the top menu bar and select "Quit Safari" from the drop down.
Closing the window doesn't make the application  quit. It closes just the window.

using chrome, windows 7 do i need adobe air, adobe plugin 10 and adobe flash player 11 active x? or is that why i am constantly getting a shockwave crashed message?

If you have any AIR apps, you will need the AIR runtime; latest version is 14.0.0.110.
"adobe plugin 10" means nothing; what program is it referring to?
Flash Player 11 is outdated; the current version is 14.0.0.145.

  • I need to uninstall Adobe Flash 11.3. My programs show Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X AND Adobe Flash Play Plugin. Do I uninstall both or just 1 (which one?)?

In Firefox Add-ons it shows that I have Shockwave Flash 11.3 as a plugin. It shows that I can disable it but not uninstall it.
I want to downgrade to Flash Player 10 so Firefox, and websites quit crashing.

Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X is needed for Internet Explorer and its clones.
The Plugin version is used by Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and other browsers that don't use ActiveX, but need the Plugin version.

  • OLM SCORM content issue with FLash Player 9 Active X version 9.0.115

    Hi,
Does any one have issue completing SCORM online content (flash object) via OLM with FLash Player 9 Active X version 9.0.115 using IE? I have same problem also via mozilla.
I have two computer one with 9.0.45 and one with 9.0.115. I can complete the online course with version 9.0.45 without any issue but the status always incomplete with version 9.0.115. When using 9.0.115 it seem there is not communication between OLM player and the application (nothing showup in the java console).
I checked Adobe website and this is what they quoted:
ActionScript 2 getURL() and ActionScript 3 navigateToURL()calls such as getURL("javascript:myFunction();") fail with live web-server content if the HTML and SWF are in separate domains. This issue appears in Internet Explorer versions 6 and 7.

    Dharma,
I just tried a piece of flash content using 9.0.115 on iLearning and had no issues, and this should be no different than OLM.
Is the SCORM Adapter set up and in use with debugging turned on? Do you see information in the java console when running the content using the other version of Flash?

  • New version of Adobe Flash Player 9 Active-X install

I'm testing the latest version of distributable Adobe Flash
    V. 9 Active-X MSI package. I will need to deploy this package to
upgrade the old version of Flash Player due to security issue. The
installation only takes about 15 seconds which is great. The issue
we're having is... looking into the Windows XP Pro Add/ Remove
Programs, it shows both the old and new versions installed. I
tested another workstation and installed it directly from Adobe
website and it appears to have upgraded the old version 9.0.115.0
to the new version 9.0.124.0 with only one version showing in the
Add/ Remove Programs list. That is what we wanted to happen. Is
there another version of MSI package that we can get to "Upgrade"
    the old version?
    Kind Regards,
    Don

  • Problem keeping Flash Player 10 active.

I am having similar problems as the other people posting. Most of the Adobe responses seem to need more information regarding systems and software. Here are my experiences. Like Gina in an earlier post, I had no problems with Flash Player until the February, 2009 Microsoft Tuesday security, O.S. and Office updates. I could no longer view Adobe Flash content. I tried all of the suggestions from this and other Forums including Adobe's Flash Player Support site. This included Permission settings, registry tweeks, copying and pasting files, using the seperate uninstall file for F.P. 10, installing from Macromed file under System32 file location- running as administrator, uninstalling from Control Panel and re-installing from Adobe F.P. site and Macromed file, Managing Add Ons tool in Internet Explorer.
My computer is a laptop with 2 gig of memory with Windows Vista SP1 operating system. I have McAfee Security Center, latest version with current updates as my security system. I connect to the internet via 56k modem. My ISP is MSN with the latest version of MSN Explorer (9. something). My browser is Internet Explorer. Versions 7 and 8 have the same conditional problems.
At the same time that I started having problem with Flash Player, after the Microsoft 2/2009 updates, I started to get error messages saying MSN/(or) Internet Explorer has stopped working which would force a close of those programs. This would occur while visiting sites with active content, especially newspaper electronic sites. My only work around to the Flash Player problem has been to uninstall MSN and Flash Player, re-install Flash Player and then restart the computer to set up the registry. Then, re-install MSN. This will work for three to seven days. Then, I will not be able to view all Flash content after that period of time. A lot of red boxes with red X's. Clicking on these X's and then choosing the SETTINGS option, I can get to camera and microphone permissions but not any security or history permissions. Flash Player is still listed as a program with Active X in my Control Panel Under 'PROGRAMS'.
My computer, operating system, security programs, ISP have not changed since encountering the Flash Player problems. I have upgraded from Internet Explorer 7 to 8 hoping that this would correct the problem. It did not. Hopefully there is enough information here for someone to be able to find a solution.

See if any of this helps

  • Cannot uninstall Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X

    hi.
i am using avast free antivirus.
they have a software updater and all was fine until last week when my flashplayer activex got stuck 'preparing' to update (it seems 'stuck') and never fully updates.
i was in touch with avast community (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=150163.new;topicseen#new)  and was given links to uninstall flashplayer plugin (and all background files).
i followed instructions to remove without using Control Panel via http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html   but still stuck 'preparing' to update.
obviously something is corrupted, but since i cant find flashplayer or activex on my system (searched thru start button), i've no idea where to turn.
any help would be appreciated.  thanks in advance.

    hey pat,
thank you so very much for continuing to follow up.  i very much appreciate it.
i'm not sure if the problem is with avast or flash player.
i uninstalled completely (as far as i know ...and per your instructions nothing remains on my computer for flash player)
avast has a software updater and i usually get a popup when there is an update i need to install.
i got an update last week saying a few programs needed updating, and i updated them all.  flash player was one of the programs.
when i clicked on flash player to update, it began updating (which is why it said 'preparing'), but never fully updated.
it got 'stuck' in 'preparing' mode.
on this software updater, one can see the icon for the program, but next to the words flash player all i see is what was in the screenshot (i think it is the icon for an executable??)
regarding what i have installed right now, again, i completely uninstalled flash player and did all the steps noted in my initial post, so currently i have no flash player installed.
when i was trying all sorts of things, i did uninstall and reinstall a few times, but that did not fix the issue.
i think i sent you an icon of avast that stays in my taskbar.  it is orange all the time, but every few minutes it turns to blue (then back to orange) to show me that it is working.
i was wondering if this is using flash, which might affect the uninstall (as the instructions said to stop all programs using flash).
i hope this helps explain things...and thank you so much again.

  • I have a powerPC G5 and can't run the latest version of Abobe flash player but need it for facebook. What can I do?

Facebook games are requesting Adobe flash player 10.3 but when I try to install it is says not compatiable with PowerPC. I have a PowerPC G5 mac running MAC OS 10.5.8. Is there any way around this (apart from buying a new computer!!)

    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html
I am pretty sure that there was a "last version of 10.2" that was PPC compatable that you can get from here.  You should at least update to the latest, last version of the PPC version. A search of adobe should reveal what that last version was...
EDIT: ok, I was wrong. last version was 10.1
The Adobe Flash Player 10.1 release will be the last version to support Macintosh PowerPC-based G3 computers. Adobe will be discontinuing support of PowerPC-based G3 computers and will no longer provide security updates after the Flash Player 10.1 release. Support is being discontinued because of performance enhancements that cannot be supported on the older PowerPC architecture.
    This was last version:
    flash Player 10.1.102.64
