Abobe illustrator images in Dreamweaver?

Help! I am trying to do a web page using Dreamweaver (which I
do not know) for a multimedia design course. My images are in Adobe
Illustrator and I cannot get Dreamwever to recognize them. What can
I do???? My final project is due in a week and I am somewhat
FREAKING OUT!

Images for the web need to be either JPG, GIF or PNG.
Use File > Save For Web in Illustrator to export your
image in one of these
file formats then use Insert > Image in DW.

  • Illustrator CS6 to Dreamweaver CS6?

    Can I use illustrator images and use them in Dreamweaver? Both are CS6.
    If so, how do I do it? And will it bring in "white" space around an image??
    Thanks,
    Janelle

    I wouldn't bother bringing it directly from AI to DW. AI doesn't save in web-ready formats without using the Export function. You can go to File > Export to export to a .jpg. If you do it this way, you will get the entire art board as "white space"
    The better option would be to bring the .ai art into Photoshop, crop out what you don't want and use Photoshop's Save For Web function to turn it into a web-optimized .jpg, .gif or .png.

  • Feathering Illustrator image placed in InDesign

    I'm using Creative Suite Profession CS3.
    I'm seeking your advice on the best way to achieve a good outcome for what I want to do.
    I've prepared an Illustrator map which I want to place in InDesign on top of a background image (lots of blue and cloudy sky)  already placed in InDesign. I want the four edges of the map to fade into the image 'seamlessly' but for the map to stand out on top and be clear when printed.
    I would like to keep the map image in Illustrator format if I can because I will need to go back to it from time to time to do edits.
    I have feathered the frame of the map (Illustrator file) in InDesign on all sides but it is not fading as nicely as I would like into the background image. In places the edges are a little unsightly and tinkering has not improved the result much.
    I can't see that I can feather the image in Illustrator. Perhaps the only way to achieve a 'perfect' result is to save the Illustrator image as a Photoshop file and then feather it to my liking in Photoshop. Or perhaps I should just open the Illustrator file in Photoshop but it wouldn't stay as  vector file as I understand it (better to create it as a Photoshop file I would think).
    I can see that there are various ways to achieve this result but I am wondering how my learned friends would advise as to the best way to achieve this result - Illustrator to Photoshop file or whatever. If it is a bit complicated or technical, you might be able to point me to the key steps.
    Many thanks.
    Frank

    You can create a feathering effect in Illustrator. But the feature has a different name. It's called an Opacity Mask.
    Do a Google search for Opacity Mask Illustrator or look in Illustrator Help.

  • I need help Centering a div box to a background image using dreamweaver cs5.5.

    I need help Centering a div box to a background image using dreamweaver cs5.5. Everything shift left when viewing on different size monitors?  See what I mean at

    Have you looked at your page with images disabled?
    I urge you to re-think this approach to web design because images of text are not indexed by search engines, screen readers or translators.  Given the demographic group your site is targeting, you really need to ensure maximum web accessibility for all users.
    Navigation, headings and descriptions all need to be in real text -- not images of text.
    Ken is right.  Absolute positioning is pure poison for such a simple layout.  My advice is to start over with one of the pre-built Starter Pages in DW.  Go to File > New > Blank page > HTML.  Select a layout from the 3rd column and hit CREATE button.

  • Background image in Dreamweaver CS3

    When I set my background image in Dreamweaver it shows on the "Design", although when previewed on a browser it does not show. I've checked the directory and it seems fine. What is causing this?

    Modify-->Page Properties, Im using css but not for the page background. I tried previewing the page locally and I have tried it on the server. The entire site root folder was uploaded which has the background.

  • Why are my Illustrator images getting thicker strokes when I take the bounding box and make them smaller?

    Why are my Illustrator images getting thicker strokes when I take the bounding box and make them smaller? This has never happened to me. I'm not an expert at Illustrator, but I do know some fundamentals.

    Thank you for responding so quickly. No apologies necessary - I know this Forum isn't McDonalds - don't expect an answer to be served up right away. You helped me out with a big issue yesterday.
    I am using a mac - OSX 10.7.5
    I have Adobe Creative Suites - CS5 - Illustrator version is 15.0.2
    The contents I am placing are all  Vector - Illustrator files
    But, I wonder about some of the vector files I work with.  Could a "line weight/thickness" be 'assigned' to the drawing and screw things up? I used 'simple' linear (line) drawings from SolidWorks that have been converted to ai files. It's just weird because I checked the stroke of the drawing and it's not out of line.
    I am attaching part of some box labels. You can see how the drawings, of the products, on the 'left side' are "thick" after embedding them. I think the "Global Logo" was pasted into a template not linked that's why it's okay. But look at the Quiet Thunder logo - it looks terrible. These labels are only 2.25" X 6.5", so its important I keep the images lightweight.
    Your help is very much appreciated. Thank you!

  • Using Background Image In Dreamweaver

    Good evening.
    I'm using a non-repeating, centered background image in Dreamweaver. But i'd like it to self-adjust its size depending upon what monitor size its viewing it.  Can someone provide some coding for help with this???
    Here's where i'm at thus far..
    <!doctype html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <link href="welcome10.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" />
    </head>
    <body style="background-color: #000; background-position: center top; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-image: url(images/girls-bg9.jpg); background-attachment: fixed;">
    <div id="wrapper">
              <div id="container">
        </div>
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>
    css -
    @charset "utf-8";
    /* CSS Document */
    #wrapper{
              width: auto;
              height: 1600px;
    #container {
              background-color: #FFF;
              height: 200px;
              margin-right: 100px;
              margin-left: 100px;
              margin-top: 100px;
    thanks guys, and gals...

    Background-size would do the trick, but keep in mind, most CSS3 does not function in IE9 (though this will), and won't at all in IE8 and down. If you need it to work in those browsers, the best way to do it would be with javascript. I've used the script available on this site with some success...

  • CS5 Illustrator images can no longer saved as a PDF

    My CS5 Illustrator images can no longer be saved as a PDF.
    Possible cause is because my .ai work got saved as CS6 version at school. Do I need to upgrade to CS6 in order to have my images saved as PDF?
    Thanks -- 3x expensive class, given probable need to upgrade.

    DC,
    Possible cause is because my .ai work got saved as CS6 version at school.
    On the same computer? If you still have the original CS5 document(s) on your computer, whatever happened at school should have no consequence in this connexion.
    If you saved the actual document(s) as CS6, you may have some issues, but that would include difficulty in opening with CS5; maybe you are only able to open as PDF.
    So its sounds as if the expected issue would be the opposite of what (I believe) you describe.
    Is it posible to clarify?

  • Import text image  in Dreamweaver

    Hi All
    I have designed some text headings (which are in colour) with a transparent background  in fireworks and exported it (gif) to Dreamweaver. That is all good. But when I place the text image (as a background image) in Dreamweaver the text has (in places) white edges which I dont want. Any ideas why this is happening???
    Any advice
    Paul

    The effect that you're experiencing is known as "jaggies". When exporting from Fireworks, you need to set the Matte colour picker to a similar colour to your background.
    A better solution, though, would be to use an embedded web font. You can get a lot of free webfonts from www.fontsquirrel.com. Alternatively, if you're using the Creative Cloud, you have access to a lot of TypeKit fonts.

    I'm not seeing div backgrounds in Dreamweaver! When I load the files onto my server I can see them in my browser! But I'm not seeing them in Dreamweaver. Here's my code on my .aspx pg:

  • Manipulate illustrator images in Flash

    Once i have imported Illustrator images into Flash (CS3) can
    i manipulate them, to animate them? If so How?
    Thanks
    T

    sledrevy,
    > Once i have imported Illustrator images into Flash (CS3)
    > can i manipulate them, to animate them? If so How?
    You'll find that your imported images are probably layered
    or nested
    into numerous groups, drawing objects, and symbols. Any one
    of those
    elements (groups, options, or symbols) behave just as if they
    were created
    in Flash, and you can minuplate them as such.
    If an imported image (with all its nested elements) is
    already on the
    Stage, just select the whole collection and convert the whole
    thing into a
    symbol. At that point, your symbol will behave just like any
    other ... you
    can move it as a collective group, you can change its alpha
    transparency,
    give it a tint, and so on. If your symbol is a movie clip,
    you can also
    alter its blend mode and add effects, such as drop shadow,
    blur, and the
    like.
    Let me know if that helps, or if you still have questions.

  • Updating to Mavericks issues with Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver

    Since updating to Mavericks I am having problems with Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver opening files on Parallels VM and network servers. Will updating Java to 7 help? Everything worked before upgrade. Photoshop say files are empty, in Dreamweaver the document is blank and Illustrator crashes. If I open the files off my local machine everything works fine.

    Go to each program forum, in OVERVIEW mode
    Then, in the area just under Ask a Question, type in

  • Saving images for dreamweaver

    I would appreciate any help in saving images for dreamweaver.
    The images are optimized in Photoshop and are saved as jpeg's with
    a quality of 60. Image sizes are 400 by 600 pixels. When viewed on
    the web, the images look fuzzy. Can anyone give me any directions?
    Are the original images not saved in a high enough resolution after
    editing? I would appreciate any help at all.
    Thanks.
    JC

    I had the same problem !!
    When you export from fireworks 8, by shure you select in the
    optimize panel
    "JPEG - Better Quality" and JPEG in the second box. This
    solved my problem,
    and I hope your problem

  • Inserting an image causes Dreamweaver to freeze.

    Hi,
    Spec
    Dreamweaver CS5
    Windows 7 & Server 2008 R2 (mix of machines)
    4GB RAM
    Plenty of disk space
    Followng these steps...
    Open Dreamweaver
    Click Insert
    Click Image
    **FREEZE**
    Dreamweaver locks up and never recovers. Only happens on standard user accouts, admins works fine. Given 'everyone' read/write permission to adobe folder in program files, but no difference. The only work around I can see if to save the page > create a site > the insert the image; this then works.
    After running the microsoft debugger, attached to the dreamweaver process I get this at the point of the crash
    (1044.1328): C++ EH exception - code e06d7363 (first chance)
    A few of these infact and then nothing.
    Anyone got any ideas. Have tried all latest updates, uninstall > clear prefs files > install no difference. Also the Extension manager keeps say it stopped working when launched.... is this related? As I say only on a standard user, admins all fine.
    Thanks for any help on this matter.

    Hi,
    I quote: "Thanks for any help on this matter."
    One of the best solutions in this case in my oppinion is you would get in touch with Adobe Help and Support here: http://www.adobe.com/support/creativesuite/. You could use "Troubleshoot failed installations": http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/828/cpsid_82827.html Recently there is also the possibility to consult via chat.
