Abode closes automatically when opening a file and shuts down Safari too.
I just updated to 8.1.2 and unfortunately deleted my older version that worked. Now when I open a PDF file, Adobe remains open for a moment and then shuts down the document and Safari. The download seemed to go ok.

When synchronizing my iphone4 on the computer it errors out when optimizing the photos and shuts down iTunes. Any idea what to do to get the synch working?
OKay, here is the deal. You cannot change the location of encrypted files nor can you share them with other machines. There is no file server for iTunes so even if you export the movie index from iTunes to an external volume, each time you reboot your computer itunes has to reindex the external drive every time you want to access the files. The second you run your mobile computer without the external drive or try to access the HD movies from another device or another user on the same network, the indexing gets out of synch. The entire process is self defeating regardless. The HD movies are encapsulized by apple to stream to your devices via iCloud and NOT via Cloud. Only your TV can play 1080p. That single file you download from iTunes has mutiple versions of the same video in the capsul, one version for each type of apple device. There are no 1080p apple devices except for the Apple TV. When you buy a movie you are buying a license and not the movie. It's going to get worse with all the new copywrite laws. Already you cant share any apple devices with other itunes accounts. Your airport express just stopped streaming music to all users on the local home sharing Cloud. Only the one user for each device and soon only airplay speakers connected directly to the device. No more passthru via your TV and no more file sharing with other accounts on the same wi-fi. All the ISPs are doing the same thing. And soon everybody will be buying their phones and TV's and iPads from the cabble guy.
Apple has done a poor job of educating the consumer as to the difference between the Cloud and iCloud. They are not the same at all.

PSE trial 12 installed just fine but when i start the editor it opens and shuts down after about 2 seconds without an error, the only thing that appears is a message with 'continue trial'.
I have windows 8.1 64 bit and i already installed the latest video drivers, intel hd 4000 and nvidia geforce 710M.
I also installed premiere elements version 12 with the same problem.
What can be the problem here, please help?

Yes, its a shame. I have also contacted lenovo support hoping that they can sort out this problem. However, first response from them was 'contact your internet service provider since internet connectivity goes down'! :-/ I am hoping I have been able to get through to them now at least about where the problem lies. I wonder if anyone has tried using the laptop with the same broadcom wireless adapter with some other version of OS (linux, windows 7 etc.) and whether they still face the same problem. I haven't tried that yet. If this is just an OS / driver issue I hope someone somewhere is working on a fix! If not, I guess the only other solution would be to get an external USB wifi adapter but that is not something one would want to do when you buy a brand new Lenovo laptop. This was a big let down for me.

"Text Import Options" window when opening .ai file, and then blank document
Hi everyone,
My computer went into blue screen crash in the midst of a file save and after restarting, when I tired to reopen the file that I was working it, it just kept showing the "Text Import Options" window, and then blank. I was already working on the file prior, and have saved it successfully many times and opened it without fail. The file is also about 27mb, which leads me to believe (hope) that the content is still there and not entirely gone! ><
Searching google and this forum, I've tried the following on two laptops
1) EnableRecovery and the ctsl+shift+alt method, nothing happened, and no _ file generated
2) Placing the file in Illustrator -- got a blank image
3) Placing the file in InDesign -- InDesign crashes
4) Opening it in acrobat to save as .eps -- unable to open in acrobat and "it is not a valid file" .
Has anyone managed to successfully resolve this problem before? The threads that I have read so far do not seem to have any conclusive solutions or even reasons for this error to have occurred.
Please let me know if there's any way to salvage the file! I will greatly appreciate not having to redo 16hours of work and redesigning about 40+ artboard )~~:

CS5 closes automatically when opening or saving a file.
It was working perfectly fine over the weekend and then Monday I open illustrator and try to open a drawing I was working on and it closes on me everytime. Now I can't open or save files without it closing itself. I would uninstall and reinstall it but i lost my code. Please Help! I have to make vector images for a couple of clients of mine!

In addition to what Monika said, something unpleasant has obviously happened.
Probably, either you have changed something (added plugins, have something else running, or the like), or your preferences have become corrupt, or there is a temporary affliction.
Sometimes it is just a matter of restarting (up to thrice).
As you can see below, reinstalling is far down the following general list.
You may try the following (you may have tried/done some of them already) and see whether it helps (the following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file; 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences):
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder Other options (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Odd problem when opening a file and displaying it in a gui
When I load up my program, it displays the contents of the array as JLabels in a frame. Just say the file contained the following characters
###$$###
When executing the program for the first time, the output is correct and will obviously look like this
###$$###
However, when closing the instance of the program and loading it up again, the output will be
###$$###
OOOOOOOO
Where the O's are those square characters you get. (char) 12312 to be exact. Any idea why? I am using Dr. JavaNevermind. I got it fixed. Wasn't closing the frame properly. I apologize.

Since recent updates of iOS, I have noticed when using my iPad that my apps close automatically when I have to leave the room or am otherwise distracted for a few minutes. It is sometimes time consuming to sign back in and get back to the task where i left off. Is there a setting I can change so it will keep the apps open until I am ready to close them? Thanks for your help.
Did you have this problem before Restoring you iPad?
If you did then did you restore with a backup. You may have reinstalled something that is conflicting in this back up
If not then sounds like either something went array with the clean install or a hardware issue.
I know it's long winded but have you tired a clean install then downloading the apps again?

THERE IS A PROBLEM IN OPENING ANY FILE. WHEN OPENING - A RAPID SUCCESSION OF FILES OPEN, ONE ATOP THE NEXT, WITHOUT SHOWING FILE'S CONTENT. THIS CONTINUES FOR QUITE A WHILE. I MUST TURN OFF COMPUTER. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CHOOSE ANY OTHER FUNCTION WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING, IE : WHEN OPENING A FILE. AS IN , I CANNOT OPEN GOOGLE OR MAIL, ETC. AND THE FILES KEEP OPENING AS UNTITLED. To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.

Automatically Exporting to XML when open a file

I'm trying to set up my new machine to export the XML of a file when I open it by dragging the files onto the Ps icon (Mac). It used to automoatically happen on my old work machine, and it's super helpful. I'm pulling my hair out trying to find the setting for something like this. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? When I click "File" and then "New" it keeps opening a new file as a layer and not a background. RGB is selected as the mode.
With new files opening as a layer and not a background I'm not able to create multiple layers and it wont let me convert the layer to the background.
How did this happen. I used PS just yesterday and had no problems. Today my computer did mandatory updates and now this.Yes. You are using the Ellipse Tool's Pixel option. So it is laying down pixels as it is supposed to do without creating a layer.
Choose the Shape option:
Also Layer menu > New Layer creates layers and the curled paper at the bottom of your Layers palette also creates a New Layer. I hope those work. -

The point is that you're a customer, and the company needs customers, so the individual who's failing to deliver good service needs to be identified so they can be properly trained, and so that problems in the system can also be identified, but more important is that you get the service you're entitled to.
If you search the forum for similar questions, you'll see the kind of information that the volunteer users like yourself on the forum need to know about your system and files involved, so they can help you better.

I've checked Reader, and there are no updates. I've run a Windows version compatibility test - although it only goes up to Vista, and not Windows 7.
Anyway, it appears I can now open Adobe files - but I've found another issue: when I right-click on a file and scroll down to the 'send to email recipient', it doesn't automatically open an Outlook email with the file as an attachment - in fact it doesn't open Outlook at all, let alone automatically?
Any clues?
