  • Does Silverlight aborted download cause problems for Mavericks?

Prior to Apple's repair/rebuild of my iMac, I at one point I decided to download Silverlight because I couldn't view something using what came with iMac.  Then when I learned that Silverlight doesn't play well with Mac, I did not install Silverlight, instead discarding it.  It seemed to cause my APC UPS unit to click on and off more than usual when the monitor and/or computer was asleep.
After the rebuild - which appears to have successfully addressed numerous kernel panics, I did not toy with Silverlight for 2-3 months.  Just recently I found myself wanting to use Silverlight because something on the web wouldn't be accessible without it.  I had forgotten the earlier incident and only remembered it when again I had I had already downloaded it.  Again, I decided not to install it, and instead trashed it.  The UPS unit seems to be returning somewhat to its old behavior.
Given the fact that Mavericks never completely sleeps and that Apple and Adobe do things in the background even when I am not using the computer, the UPS behavior might have another explanation.  I am just trying to find out if anyone out there has experienced similar UPS behavior after a comparable aborted download of Silverlight?

What if you try deleting the /Library/Printer/EPSON and the/Library/Caches/Epson/ folders and then reinstalling the updates?
The scanner is shown as supported on

    Hope this helps.

  • Resume aborted download

    Hi,
i try to download SAP NetWeaver 04 SP11 "Full Java Edition", but I am not able to download the whole two packages completely. The download always abort before it has finished.
I am using the download manager LeechGet 2005. The tool tells me, that resuming of broken downloads is not supported by the webserver.
Is there another solution to resume aborted downloads?

I aborted (paused) a download of ML because I remembered I had saved a copy of my original download. Now I can't get rid of the Mountain Lion (paused) icon in the launch pad. I do not intend to complete the download so how do I get launchpad to revert to its normal state without that icon?

How can I finish downloading photoshop elements 12?

    Hi GiniB62614,
If you had aborted the download then you have to begin the download all over again.

  • I have tried to install Lion. 80% download, then it raises cancellation dialog box. I cancel cancellation (twice) it aborts download as if I had cancelled it. Workarounds?

I have tried to install Lion on a Pro. 80% download without incident, then it raises a cancellation dialog box. When I cancel the cancellation (twice) it aborts the download as if I had cancelled it.  Can't get the whole OS to download to this drive (no space issues, 500GB drive with no other files on it) Workarounds?

    Hi ppg198,
Please try deleting the preference folder (in osx it's in "user/library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings" ) and then launch Illustrator and check.

    Hi VEnkat,
    As simple as that.
In R3AM1 select the object you want to abort and click on Cancel button. That will abort the intial download.
There should not be any issues in this.

  • Aborted download of SAFARI

....I accidentally unplugged my XP/professional laptop while downloading safari .... and cannot resume this process, or restart it. I get switched to the "thank you" screen.... over and over and over again.
Any suggestions? I have tried using a different email address for notifications/updates, to no avail.
    Thank you.

Thank you for helping me think my way to a solution.
Before I posted this problem, I had executed a search for SAFARI with no results. I tried this again.... again, no results.
However I changed my email address [aol] to my dot mac address and BINGO, the download is in progress now.
Thank you, thank you, thank you....

  • Aborted downloads

Is there any way to make Safari delete a file after its download's been canceled? Like Firefox does.
If I am using firefox and go to the download window and click on the x next to the name of the file I am downloading, and then clear the list, the correspondent *.part file also gets deleted, so what I'd like to know is if the same thing can be done on safari for *.download files.
    thanx

    No.
The partially downloaded file must be removed via the Finder.
Since most downloads can be "resumed" and Safari doesn't know your intentions when you "cancel" the Finder is the only way to delete it.

  • Multiple aborted download, no ability to resume

    As previously asked :
    - Server name http://download-east.oracle.com/
    - Filename otn/linux/oracle9i/9201/lnx_920_disk2.cpio.gz
    - Date/Time 11 june 2002
    - Browser + Version Netscape6/6.2
    - O/S + Version
    Operating System: Linux
    Operating System Release: 2.4.9-31
Distribution Version: Red Hat Linux release 7.2 (Enigma)
    - Error Msg : There are no errors: The download dialog states the download has completed but at the same times it clearly shows only 45% progress ...
I suspect the server cancelled the download but I have no clue.
I am not able to resume the download and it is too bad with 266 M already there, especially that it happens for the third times.
I keep on trying, I have a cable connection I do not really care but it seems to me that this can lead to an unnecessary load of your servers that resuming ability would decrease, except if I am the only one to whom it happens :)
I would be please to know if there is a way to resume http downloads that I am not aware of. I think a resume button appears in Netscape 6 download dialogs when available.

Let me give couple solutions, as I was able to complete couple downloads successfully from Oracle free software site. First of all make sure the IE (if you're using IE) is upgraded to the latest, with medium-low security option. Second use DSL connection( mine is Verizon) thru LINKYSIS (http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?prid=163&grid=5), which never interupts an internet connection.
    Regards
    Regimon
I did 5 unsuccessful downloads and initially suspected it was my ISP which disconnected, but now appears not to be the case, but the Oracle Server. I use StayConnected, and tried with Gozilla, DownloadAccelerator and FreshDownload. I was going to try Netscape with SmartDownload next. But it seems that Oracle does not support RESUME, so even if download managers support resume, it wouldn't matter.
Question is whether it is just a waste of time to continue to try. Or is it, God forbid, just a ploy to get prospective developers to buy the software outright, without the chance of free evaluation.

  • Ipad2 goes back to home screen during pdf download, and aborts download

Ipad2 goes back to homescreen during pdf download.  Have done shut downs, cleared active screens, etc.  Still occurs about 1 minute in to a download

When was the last time you powered your iPhone off and on?
Try a reset instead which is similar to a computer restart. Press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.

  • Firefox aborts LARGE downloads on completion with an 'unknown error' and the whole file has to be downloaded again - surely there must be a workfile somewhere?

Because I only have satellite internet available to me, I have to download YouTube files in my download window. Several times now, one or two of maybe five or six files, all being downloaded simultaneously *to the same directory*, will abort with an error message "<filename> could not be saved because an unknown error occurred. Try saving to a different location". However, you don't get a chance to save it to a different location, the whole damned file has to be downloaded again from scratch. This is actually with IceWeasel 17.0.10, a thinly-disgusided version of Firefox 17 LTS, running on 64-bit Debian 7.1 multihome.
I realise this may be a plugin problem rather than a Firefox problem, I'm not sure of the exact relationship between the two, but I'm using TubeEnhancer 2.6 to do the downloads.
Whatever the 'unknown error' might be (and it's not a permissions problem, other videos being downloaded at the same time will save correctly to the same directory!) it seems beyond belief that it's not possible to give the user a chance to save the file somewhere else, as the error message suggests. It's so frustrsting to have to go through the whole download process again. Surely Firefox is storing a copy of the file on the hard drive as it downloads, is there really no way that this can at least be recovered when the error occurs, even if it's not possible for some reason to give the user a second chance to pick a directory and filename?

OK, so I tried disabling the other addons and (I'm sure this is coincidental!) the problem actually got WORSE, not better, i.e. more aborted downloads.
This is a long-standing problem with both Firefox and Thunderbird, both programs will happily tell you *during* the download process that they've downloaded X MB of Y MB, but if the download aborts, then there's no indication that it's done so on the dowload page. All that is needed is to retain that expected download size figure when the download has terminated, so that you can easily see whether unattended downloads completed or not.
Yes, I suppose those of us who have to use satellite internet services are in the minority, but the only hours when I can download anything are between 0200 and 0700 my time, and I do like to get SOME sleep at nights!

  • Trying to download a game purchase (Company App Store. Have taken advice from Aspyr Customer Service to repair Disk Permissions, but still download aborts...any suggestions?

Trying to download game purchase (Company of Heroes) from App Store. Failed in mid-download several times. Aspyr Customer Services have shown me how to repair Disk Permissions, but still won't download... any suggestions, please?

Thanks for suggestions. I did use Energy Saver settings, and I did check downloading another app. Last night I tried another download of Company of Heroes, got up to 4GB before bedtime, woke up this morning to find another "error has occurred" message. Extremely frustrating. Have used most of my monthly data allowance on abortive downloads. Maybe Apple made a mistake in relying on huge data downloads. DVDs more reliable!

  • I downloaded a movie and it said i do not have enough storage on my ipod. i went to the videos app and played the video and it buffered so i watched it. after it was done, the time expired because i rented the movie. It is still taking up memory. Why?

In the downloads section there is an error that there is still not enough space to get the movie. It is taking up half of my space and there is no abort download. Help!

Movies are not one of the items you can reload via iClould like apps, music, and some other items.  You can contact iTunes and request a redownload,.  They may give you one.

  • Test for file download complete

Does anyone know an accurate way to test that a file download is complete? Reports are being brought down from a server and I want to know if the download is complete before I begin parsing the file.
Anyone know how to do this? Is File.canWrite() an accurate test?
    Thanks,
    Matt

Our server team initiates the download. Then you're out of luck. You can monitor the file size change over time, but it might as well be an incomplete or aborted download. I wouldn't know if a file that's written to will be blocked for reading. Might be, might not be. I'd say not, given my experience.
