  • Spamming using Apache James

    Hi...
I'm developing spam filter using Apace James server based on Bayesian analysis feeder. Although James has its own folder for spam emails, when using Bayesian analysis feeder, I have to connect the James server to SQL database server. Can anyone tell me how to connect James server to SQL server? Is there any way to use Bayesian analysis feeder without using SQL server? Currently I'm using Apache James version 2.3.0
    Thanks

commons-logging is not a logging API directly, it wraps other logging APIs to have a cross-compatible way of logging stuff. I wouldn't use commons-logging for that, I would use SLF4J. And then you still have to decide which real logging API you are going to use; popular ones are log4j and java.util.Logging (jul). People seem to prefer more jul nowadays because it performs better, but log4j is very well documented.

  • Sending Mail Via Apache James

    HI all,
I am new to both Java and Apache James. Please help me. I just installed Apache James 1.2.1. It seems to work fine. Because I can use MS Outlook express and send mail and receive it(I set up couple users and mail from one address to other). The host is localhost(I am connected to internet). But when i try to send mail say for example to hotmail domain or yahoo domain, I dont
see mail being delivered. But MS outlook express does not show any error when I do send/receive either.
Could somebody explain me if I am missing any config on Apache James that is not delivering the mail.

    Hi everyone,
Currently, I am working on a project which requires email facilities.... I have chosen JAMES mail server....
But I have some difficulty to make it work properly.... Hence, Is it possible to send me a working sample of the config.xml.... Course I have problems in configuration....
So far...I have run the server and added a few users.... I test it out with the mailclient.java, but I get authenticate errors and pop3 error....
    Thanks for all your time.....

  • Problem with Apache James installation

    Hi guys,
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I'm trying to use Apache James 2.2.0 for my email server.
    Following Apache's instructions:
    -I ran bin/run.bat with JAVA_HOME set
-It ran successfully and created apps/james
-I stopped the server to edit the SAR-INF/config.xml
Even if I added a blank space to it, I am not able to run run.bat again because it throws an exception: Deployment Exception: Error building configuration from file.
So why is it that run.bat runs with the default configurations but any changes to config.xml results in a crash.
    Thanks a bunch,
    chilamania

Try avoiding installing james in a path which contains a space.
    e.g. "C:\Program Files\*"
see the link below for further explanation:

  • Login in apache james using jsp

how to make user log in apache james through jsp.
any idea will be very helpful.

JavaMail comes with a web app that uses JSPs, as well as a simple
servlet app. Both of them handle logging in to the mail server.
Did neither of them help you? Apache James is just another
    mail server.
There's also pointers on the JavaMail web page to several tutorials
    and articles that will help.

  • Questions about Apache POI

If you have experience with Apache POI, please help me!
    (1) HWPF is in POI API documentation (javadoc), but I didn't find the classes in the jar (jakarta-poi-1.5.1-final-20020615.jar). Did I miss something?
    (2) Is HDF substituting HWPF?
    (3) Is it possible to create Word file with HWPF or HDF? If so, is it possible to create tables in the Word file?
Thanks! I understand there has been lots of discussion of this topic, but I've not been able to find anything substantial, and have to ask questions here again.

The HWPF is in early stages of developement, therefore it is not included into the final distribution. Try poi-scratchpad-2.5.1-final-20040804.jar. Here you will find the classes you need
About creating word documents, it can be done using HWPF, but i suggest you to try itext which will generate rtf (http://www.lowagie.com/iText/docs.html). It's quite simple to create tables.

My Apache has been highly customized, with several virtual hosts, but I was getting the same errors in the console that this thread mentions. So I hope my solution helps some of you.
First, make sure your main (default) error log exists and can be written to. Open the Terminal, and enter:
    sudo mkdir /private/var/log/apache2
This may return telling you that it's already there. It should ask for your password before trying. Next, make sure the error_log exists:
    sudo touch /private/var/log/apache2/error_log
My gotcha was that I'm using an Apache compiled from MacPorts, and so my default error_log wasn't in that location. I found it (and all other possible logs) with this command:
    locate error_log
It should give you a list of files that have "error_log" in their name. One of them should be getting written to every time the console reports that message "Exited with exit code: 1", so you may need to "ls -l" on a few of the directories to find out which one has recently changed. To find out what the error is that is stopping Apache from launching, enter:
    tail /private/var/log/apache2/error_log
Use the path of the error_log that has recently changed. For example, mine was:
    tail /opt/local/apache2/logs/error_log
    This command reported:
(2)No such file or directory: httpd: could not open error log file /Users/bcurtis/Sites/bivia.com/newdev/log/errors.development.log.
    Unable to open logs
This was a log that one of the virtual hosts wanted to write to, related to a Ruby on Rails config, which might explain why not everyone is having this problem. I just had to create the directory /Users/bcurtis/Sites/bivia.com/newdev/log/ in the Finder, and Apache started up just fine.
    Hope this helps someone!
    +Ben

  • Question about Apache package.

Is it possible to include a version "mpm = worker" and "mpm = event" of httpd?. As does RHEL (httpd, httpd.event, httpd.worker)
Sometimes you need the support of these types of httpd (threaded, forked, etc) for certain software.
    Cheers.

See also the RemoteAddrNotInNetwork matcher in the transport processor.
You would generally use one OR the other approach.

    hi
you have to change the config.xml to allow the server accept relay mails from your host machine from which you are sendign the mail ...
    ie
    change
    <mailet match="RemoteAddrNotInNetwork=127.0.0.1" class="ToProcessor">
    <processor> relay-denied </processor>
<notice>550 - Requested action not taken: relaying denied</notice>
    </mailet>
add few more ips (your network / subnet ip)
so that it accpets mails from that machine to be relayed ...
you can also change the smtp autheriZation part and do that ...
    any one is enough ..

  • Apache in front of WLS in a cluster

              hi all,
I have some doubts about apache and wls in a cluster. We have 2 Apache server
(installed on 2 different hosts) in front
of a clustered WLS 6.1. Now my doubt is: who will take care of authentication,
              Apache or WLS?
In other words as the 2 instances of Apache don't know about each other (they
are chosen with DNS-round robin), will the
authentication be done twice? or it's possible to handle authentication on the
              application
server rather ? if so, where the Cookie that identifies the session will be kept?
              Tanks a lot
              Francesco

It all depends on what you mean by authentication and how you configure each
              node.
If you mean authentication re:SSL, then apache.
If you have ACL's defined in Apache, then Apache will, but this is http
              basic auth, no cookies.
If you have security defined in WLS or are using session's in WLS, then
cookies will be set and passed from WLS all the way back to the client and
then when a new request is made the cookie will be passed from the client to
              apache and back to wls.
              Cheers
              mbg
